Place was busy - coffee took longer than the food. Sunrise tacos were fine- not much flavor, corn taco shell eh. Hot Croissant almond latte was good- it had great flavor (it was supposed to have sliced almonds on top-) it was barely warm. Walking by just thought to stop by, the dark roast coffee with some breakfast tacos...was my order. Coffee was amazing, I'm a Starbucks die-hard for drip coffee, but Sir Walter's dark roast was certainly a step up from my favorite. Breakfast tacos...really just mid. Nothing spectacular, really you're getting egg tacos with a bacon garnish...and sour cream. Service is excellent, helpful and friendly. The lattes are incredible and very vegetarian/vegan-friendly. I have been going to this spot for years. Every time I go I feel like I am back in Chicago's northside, my hometown. You have to be careful what you order on the menu. Some of the items are not tasty and a bit meh. This is a great place to bring your laptop and write, meet with a friend, or just feel the ambiance of city life when Raleigh proper gets too boring. Can't you tell I miss Chicago? My husband and I were visiting from Seattle and we were looking for a cool coffee shop in the downtown area before our flight. We stumbled upon this place since it was highly rated. I got the Banana Nut Bread latte and it was yummy! They do have housemade syrups, but they also have bottled ones. The space is pretty cool. A pretty good coffee shop! We stopped in and my friend got a hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow syrup and I got a matcha with lavender and vanilla. Fair warning, their matcha is presweetened so putting syrups in it makes it taste overly sweet unfortunately. I ended up asking them for a less sweet matcha and they very kindly remade it for me without the syrups! It tasted pretty good. Their summer berry scone was also yummy! read more

I was staying at a hotel nearby and wanted something other than Starbucks so I decided to check this place out. It was like half cafe, half bar with indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered a dirty chai latte and a blueberry bagel with cream cheese. The dirty chai latte came out quickly and the blueberry bagel took a bit to come out of the kitchen. The dirty chai was okay. I did like that there was cinnamon on top. The cream cheese for the blueberry bagel was whipped and bagel was nice and toasted. read more

I was on a trip to Raleigh in January 2024. My friend and I were in the downtown area. A quick Yelp search and I found Sir Walter Coffee. Pictures on Yelp looked fun; vibe seemed cool. Sir Walter Coffee is known for their "Coffee, Craft, Comfort". Okay - that sounded pretty fun & cool. My friend and I only ordered coffee there as we were headed to a Zumba event afterwards. I had wanted one of their special coffees but they ran out. The cashier helped me select another coffee drink that was similar and voila. Vibe was cool. My friend and I both liked our respective coffee drinks. Good place to chill for a little bit. We were there on a Sunday afternoon - and it was pretty packed. ENJOY! read more

Coffee: 7/10 - I ordered the banana pudding cold brew & it tasted nothing like a banana. Maybe more syrup but I did taste like a caramel macchiato which never disappoints. Effort for the Banana Pudding Milkshake :10/10 My sister had the breakfast sandwich which she enjoyed. I didn't grab food but I enjoyed the atmosphere. Came in for breakfast before a conference I was attending. I didn't see where the register was at first, so I tried to order from the bar - it's off to the left when you enter at the end of the bar. I decided to get a chai latte and breakfast burrito without adding meat. Chai latte tasted a bit watered down and not that flavorful. Breakfast burrito was a good size and was topped with crema with sides of guac and salsa. The inside of the burrito had a weird texture, and looking inside I noticed they use chopped up hard boiled eggs - never seen that before and not really a fan. It should be scrambled egg. One of my favorite coffee spots in the area. The drinks are always delicious. I love how creative the seasonal drinks are!

First I'll start with the good stuff, coffee is really good and baristas are very sweet. However, I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was a super greasy bun (also not the onion brioche advertised) I pulled off most of the bread and ate the egg and cheese with sausage and it was ok but not any better than say a breakfast sandwich you'd get at an airport:/ disappointing but coffee is good and I bought a bag of beans but at $21! Pretty pricey and not much info on the actual bag. I'm sure I could look up their info online but it's nice to have some info on the bag. read more

As a first time customer traveling to Raleigh from Va. Beach, the customer service was sub-par at best. Employees were not helpful and when I asked for regular white sugar packets for my coffee (which was served cold) I didn't not receive an answer and finally another employee walked up and told me no. I do NOT understand how a coffee/cocktail bar gets so wrapped up in trends that it forgets the basics ingredients. Although I could accept the no regular sugar, what I can not accept is the poor atmosphere and attitudes of the employees. I do not recommend. read more

Visiting my daughter at NC State and she wanted to try this place. I'm not a big drinker but she and my wife are. Very quaint place. Warm and welcoming. Many different coffees and lattes to choose from. Ordering is easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere to hang with friends and drink coffee. Quiet enough for conversations. They also have a light breakfast and lunch menu. Wife got a regular latte. Daughter got a French toast latte. Apparently, both were delicious. Both were served in a real oversized coffee cup with foam art on top. Smells wonderful in here. 2 lattes and 1 jalapeño/cheddar scone was $15. Daughter and wife are happy. My coffee (from the seasonal menu) was strangely confusing to the guy who took my order and instead of asking for help I think he just tried to hand me an iced tea and call it a day. After all the rigamarole it was disappointingly blah. My lox bagel sandwich arrived quickly but I'd guess the bagel was microwaved instead of toasted -- it got overwhelmingly chewy and I couldn't even attempt the second half. Great coffee spot in downtown with some food options and alcohol, I love coming here on a weekend. If you're looking for a coffee cocktail, whether spiked or not, this is the place to go. There's indoor and outdoor seating and it always seems busy, lots of people working/studying and just hanging out. City vibe! I've never had a bad cup of coffee here. I came here and tried a flower child latte (summer special) with almond milk, and it was so good! They had many latte flavors to choose from, and I was a bit frazzled from a chaotic day so I just had the baristas recommend me a flavor. They were all very nice and quick to make my drink. I came to Sir Walter Coffey on November 1, 2023. It was my first time as a customer. I had a really good experience getting out of the cold it was very warm inside and the ambiance was cozy. I ordered smoothly with my guest two drinks: Baileys Latte Spiked Espresso Old fashioned Both drinks were very tasty. The Spiked OF was quite smooth and was my personal favorite.
