This was my first time at Ktown Market, it exceeded my expectations! So delicious. I've had many versions of Spicy Short Rib Stew and this was one that had the most meat I've ever seen. There were 4 whole ribs placed in my soup. It was well worth the cost of the meal. The trade off was less vegetables inside the soup. My family equally enjoyed the kimchi stew and spicy pork dishes. Good. Ordered the 20 piece wings today with our go-to soy garlic sauce. The best. We got the sauce on the side. It's $2 if you want additional sauce on top of what it comes with. Tried the steamed dumplings and I thought they were pretty decent but oversteamed/slightly soggy. I liked the sauce it comes with but it's definitely different than your standard soy sauce. It tastes a bit tangy and sweet like it's vinegar based. A different woman was there when I picked up my order but she somehow knew/must have seen me when I ordered earlier which was nice. Service is pretty friendly. And as always, the corn dogs are amazing. I didn't order them this visit but felt it was worth mentioning. We went around 12:40pm and it wasn't too busy but got busier around 1/1:30. It can get very busy so plan accordingly if you're in a hurry. I ordered spicy fried chicken. There is no waitress or seated service. You order in the store. I was taken aback when I she said my chicken was $28.00. My wife's food came out in about 20 minutes, My chicken came out 15 minutes after that. So...the chicken was ok for Korean spicy chicken. But $28.00 is outrageous. And there was NOTHING else with the chicken. No slaw....fries or anything. You have to get your own plates and plastic eatware. No Korean cooks. So it's a very expensive chicken lunch with nothing but chicken. They also asked if we wanted to tip. For what?? You get nothing associated with a restaurant. This is the place you go to for authentic Korean! I absolutely love their food, and I'll drive 45min and back just to have it! The service is more "do it yourself", which I don't mind. You order the food at the register, receive a receipt with your number on it, and then you wait. Once your number gets called, you go up to the counter (inside the dining area), and pick up your tray. It can be a bit confusing if you're new, as that's what happened to me. Once you're finished, just put your tray in their rack near the counter where you picked up the food, and tidy up after yourself. read more

I've been here a few times and it's definitely a solid spot to visit if you want your fix of homey Korean food or if you're looking for Korean groceries! Plus they now have a little cafe as well as a K-pop store upstairs if you're interested. When you enter, the restaurant area is to your right and you can order at the front. It can take a while (~20 min last time I visited) for the food to be ready so I usually just browse the grocery store. I've tried several of the rice-based dishes here including the bibimbap, bulgogi dupbap (stir fried bulgogi beef with rice), and jaeyook dupbap (spicy stir fried pork with rice) -- portions are huge and everything has been quite good. read more

My favorite little neighborhood shop to stop by and grab pantry staples. They have a good selection for being a smaller shop. You can find every condiment, rice, noodle, and most Ramen that you would want. They have a small refrigerator and freezer section, but they carry a lot of options. You won't find a ton of meat here, but they do have some hot pot frozen meat items. Definitely check out their homemade kimchi in the back. It is excellent! The service is always nice and friendly and they have a small restaurant inside to grab a bite to eat. This is the BEST Korean food I've had in Raleigh! I have lived in TX, AZ, NY and a few other states, and have been to K Town in LA many times, so I'm used to amazing Korean food. This could possibly be the best korean food in the triangle, but granted I have not tried them all. I got the kimchi soondubu which was perfectly spiced to my tolerance level (if you love spicy, this might not be spicy enough), but it comes out piping hot. My partner got the chicken katsu and it was such a good deal. If you're used to Japanese katsu, this is a Korean spin on it and it's good in its own way! It was very crispy. I don't know what that orange sauce it comes with is, but it was incredibly light and refreshing and gingery, it was different. It also came with another thick, sweeter sauce which maybe for the salad? Not sure, but he and I liked the orange one better. It was a good deal for the portion they gave! The wait is very long, so be prepared for that. But I'd say for the mom and pop ambiance it has/home-style feels, and the value you get, it's worth the wait. I only wish there was more banchan because that's one of my favorite parts of Korean food but the kimchi they had was really good! The taeyaki was decent. Ktown Market is a hidden Raleigh gem. Not only do they sell a wide variety of Korean produce/snacks/drinks, but they also have an incredible kitchen serving up authentic Korean meals. Staff is always friendly, and the food is consistently delicious and comforting. My go-to is the Kimchi Jiggae (kimchi stew) and any of their dumplings - a perfect meal for cold days. They also always give little portions of banchan (various Korean side dishes) with your meals, even for takeout. Kimchi Jiggae portions are very large and can last me a couple of days for one order. There was a good number of people in the small cafe during lunch time which is a good sign. The Korean Fried Chicken and Stew both seem popular here I got the tofu stew 4/5 - good but not memorable. Comes piping hot with Bonchon and rice Fried Dumplings 3/5 - I thought they would have more flavor but they were pretty bland unfortunately. A HIDDEN GEM. The outside of the building is deceiving! You wouldn't have known what they had in store! A Korean market, a restaurant, a cafe, and a KPOP store with a photo booth upstairs! So MUCH. When I entered, we were greeted! Great first impression. You'll see as soon you enter, you look to your right and the restaurant is there. You order + pay first, then you seat yourselves. It's a great setting. Nothing fancy, it's casual. I loved it. You can hear them working hard on the back, cooking it all up and all the great smells! We couldn't believe the PORTION of the food! So dang delicious too!!! Ooooweeeee. I shouldn't taken photos of what my family ordered because it was so good!! After we ate, we walked around to check out the rest of the place. My mom bought snacks for her flight back home, we passed the cafe inside (next time I'll order, I was super full lol) and went towards the back, where the stairs are and that leads you up to the KPOP store. I'm not a big KPOP fan BUT it was still cool to go up there and check it out. It's small but they have tables up there you can sit at, a photo booth to take photos in, and their little store! I love KTown Market. I've loved it since it was called Kims and it will always be Kims in my mind. I order from the restaurant somewhat regularly, it's easy to call and pickup or even have it delivered by doordash. They also have a really great grocery selection. I am able to find most things I need and even discovered some new favorite products here! They have also added a food truck outside that you order on a giant iPad type thing inside. Visited for a very late lunch on a weekend after phase 2 of COVID-19 and they allow dine-in now. Spread yourself out and use the hand sanitizer in the center. Enjoyed the tonkatsu and spicy cold noodle for about $25 total. Not cheap but they provide a pretty large portion. Ended up feeling super stuffed after the two meals shared with one other. Been missing Korean food from California and the two dishes hit the spot. I had the jjajangmyun from here a while ago and was unimpressed. But these two dishes redeemed my last experience. read more

So this is what happens when home style cooking works. Looking at the pictures before our first visit, I knew their food looked rather rustic which is usually a good thing. Still, I was more than disappointed when we rocked up at around 3pm and were told we'd have to wait till 3:30pm because that's when staff break for lunch. We were on a tight schedule so this was not good news at all, but they made up with the food. The bibim was fine and so was the sweet and sour pork which, again, came with a sauce that's more rustic. The pork may not have quite the same level of crunch but was still delicious. Each main came with a bowl of onion soup and 3 side dishes. This is not exactly the usual 4-6+ you'd get at many other Korean places, but no complaints from me because they were FINE. Oh and you can't beat the value here, plus I'm all for supporting family-owned businesses. I hope they stay open for a long time. read more

Absolutely delicious. From the minute we pulled up in the parking lot. It definitely did not seem like much. The food took about 5 to 10 minutes to get to the table but when it got there, it was definitely worth it. The restaurant is nestled in what looks to be a Korean convenience store that has all sorts of treats from Korea and Japan. I can't find entry for Choi's kitchen so this is the place for the review then. Came for dinner and very authentic Korean food. 1. Seafood pancake - tasty and savory. I can't taste any difference between this one and ones I've had in Korean town in nyc. Well done 2. Seoleong-tang - this one is different. Can't say I care fir the clear noodle In the soup. I do prefer to have regular noodles there. Soup itself tasted a bit water down. 3. Dolsit bibimbap - yummmm. Goes wonderful with the sweet spicy sauce on the table. Really appreciated this Korean market. The first floor had a cafe section, grocery section, and restaurant section. The second floor has a cute K-pop merchandise area. I've reviewed the restaurant separately and copy+pasted it below. As for the grocery store, they have a lot of the essentials and had a very wide selection of snacks, beverages, fresh groceries, and other ingredients. It honestly had a wider selection of snacks and beverages than the chain Korean markets in my area. The K-pop shop was very cute and had a neat selection. They had a decent selection of albums and other memorabilia, and it's worth checking out if you're interested and it's open (it has its own hours). The food was fantastic but the dumplings tasted like ravioli but it was still okay. The service was great they had a machine that said the order number when the order was ready. By far the best Korean food I have had in the area. I have only ordered delivery through Yelp and can only sing their praises. I was accidentally given kimchi fried rice instead of their kimchi stew the first time I ordered here and can honestly say I was happy for the mixup. A delicious Korean restaurant with PERFECT CHICKEN, groceries, and a k-pop store all in one place? It's K-Town Market!! This small, yet two-story, market has variety of Korean and Asian snacks, ingredients, a boba and taiyaki bar, a k-pop shop, and a self-serve/cafeteria style restaurant. Market: Asian food and ingredients on the first floor!There are more packaged and frozen meals than fresh meats and vegetables, but there are a lot of noodle/ramen packs, soup bases, spices, and snacks that you can't find in a normal grocery store. Items were stocked/being stocked every time I visited, so I always got what I needed whenever I came. The staff is really nice too! Oppang K-Pop Store: A room on the second floor for K-pop fans and stans. There was a decent selection of k-pop band merch, posters, and albums/CDs. More BTS than anything though. There's also tables on the second floor where you can order drinks and enjoy treats while looking at K-pop merch. Restaurant: A small 8-table restaurant on the first floor. No need to wait for servers or wait to pay the bill, as you order and pay before being seated, which is a great concept. It's a self-serve system. You get your water, plates, and utensils at a station inside and wait for your order number to be called to pick up your tray of food. Orders come out within 20-30 minutes. After eating, you clean your table and put away your dishes on a shelf in the corner of the restaurant. Very cafeteria-style. As for the food, it was flavorful and delicious!! Food: *Soy Sauce Fried Chicken: THE BEST KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN EVER. A hefty plate filled with sweet, saucy, juicy chicken with crispy and light batter. They do not skimp out on the portions and use every part of the chicken. It's also served with pickled radish cubes as a palate cleanser. I personally just take a bite of chicken and pop a cube in my mouth for the ultimate flavor combo. So crispy and saucy. Yum yum yum yum *Pan-fried & Steamed Dumplings: I got vegetable dumplings done two ways, both of which are good, but not the star of the meal. There's 12 dumplings in the pan-fried option and 6 in the steamed option. Rather than just vegetable filling, there's also glass noodles mixed in. Pretty good. *Bimbimbap: Shredded beef, egg, and vegetables served on top of a salad with a side bowl of rice. I personally didn't enjoy the salad/lettuce below the ingredients, but it was delicious with the rice. This was a bit generic, but it was light and filling nonetheless. *Jajang Myun: Saucy black bean noodles with chunks of vegetables and meat. It was seasoned and flavorful, and the textures were perfect. The portion was great for the price. *LA Galbi Beef: Buttery and seasoned short-rib served on top of soft onions. The meat tasted fresh and wasn't overly chewy. It was cooked perfectly and paired so well with rice. I can't get enough of the fried chicken and my Asian snack fix here. The grocery selection isn't super expansive, but they have enough to save me a 30 minute trip to Cary. I'll continue to come back for the chicken and to try some of their other dishes! read more
