December Update: I was foolish to place another order with City Barbecue and the Falls of Neuse location, but I had hoped they would have actually addressed the issues by now and verified that customer orders are fulfilled correctly and have all items. I have no idea whether the chain deliberately tries to cheat customers to make a bigger profit or whether the employees need more training. But they have messed up my large orders twice, requiring me to go buy what they didn't include elsewhere. I will walk away from bad service and from being shortchanged. I should have ordered from a local restaurant that cares about its customers. This order was missing the sauce for the pulled pork. A 4-ounce container seems hard to miss. The plates and utensils were also missing. Then I still have not received a response from the restaurant for either incident. So they have lousy customer service and cheat their customers out of their orders. I do not recommend. Update: Still haven't heard from the local restaurant after almost a week, but corporate gave me a $15 gift card. I had placed a curbside pickup order. The email receipt said I would receive a text. I never did, and when I arrived, the sign said to check in on the app, but I don't have the app. I was just going to go inside when an employee saw my vehicle. Another employee brought my order out and put it on the passenger side. I knew I should have checked to make sure it was complete but I didn't. I will trust my guy next time as I was missing the 12 rolls and the utensils. The food I received was great and well packaged. I had ham, potatoes, corn pudding, sweet potato casserole, mac n cheese and apple cobbler. It is too bad that orders are still not accurate. The items I did receive were checked off the receipt, so I am not sure what happened to the rest of the order and why nobody noticed that items were missing. Going inside might be the best way to get everything that you ordered. But then finding parking would be challenging.

Such a disappointing experience at City Barbeque today. The employee at the register was very brusque (the tall man with baseball cap and a ponytail) and as soon as I started ordering he said "Give me a minute, I've got curbside orders." I certainly don't mind waiting, but the tone of voice was very rude. We ordered our food and as we were paying, a coworker of the rude employee asked him a question. He was rude to his coworker and said "Dude, they're together. The tickets are together!" On to the food - well, the bbq sauce station was surrounded by gnats (see photo). Three gnats on one bottle alone. So disgusting. The meals were not up to par, period. Brisket was extremely dry. Side salad mix was weird, why not just do romaine lettuce? The honey mustard dressing was very thick and glue-y. The baked beans were good. Paying $48 for a lackluster lunch, with a rude employee and a bunch of gnats. City BBQ has gone way down in service and food quality.

When I need some juicy (but they are kind of small) wings, I come to City Bbq. The macaroni is good but portion side is smaller than I would like. The banana pudding is my slice of happiness of the desserts. Much better than their apple cobbler in my opinion. When I can't get Mama's banana pudding, City bbq is a good choice from a restaurant. Especially when they add a lot of caramel

Friendly staff and affordable menu. We had a coupon so we decided to check out City BBQ in Raleigh. I've been in the past and enjoyed it. The menu is straightforward with new items added periodically. Main items include the southern style sandwiches and sides, ribs, and bbq by the pound. Ample sauces are provided with the bbq. It's easy to place an order online for pick up at the counter or curbside. We ordered the Dirty Bird ($9.49), Smokehouse Classic ($9.99) + side of Corn Pudding and Sweet Tea ($4.99), Hushpuppies ($2.99), Triple Chocolate Cake ($4.99), and 1 lb Pulled Pork ($16.99). The meal was reasonably priced and filling. Overall positive experience!

Another great BBQ sandwich. Alway fast and friendly service. No matter how busy they are the get the food always is served quickly. The baked beans and Hush Puppies are always hot and tasty. The Fried Okra is also a good choice. The Not a Sloppy Joe is delicious!

Absolutely love this cute little book nook by the fireplace. Great for those with young children!

The vibes here were immaculate. Everything from the sports team flags hanging overhead and the metal pig and cow hanging on the walls, the music, cozy fireplace complete with framed photos on the mantle place and country music playing in the background. Everything about it felt cozy. I recommend the hot bbq sauce and the hot vinegar sauce too. Wasn't a fan of the baked beans with bacon nor the pulled pork sandwich which lacked seasoning and flavor in general. It simply tasted like a coleslaw sandwich. The beans were far too sweet for our liking. I really enjoyed the brisket and the ribs were good too. We've also tried the roast chicken and sausage at the Durham location and those were on point as well. Next time I'll try the fries which looked yum. They were not too crunchy looking and kinda soft in the middle, which is totally my preference. The food came out quickly but they didn't let us know when it was ready. We had to ask. Also, for fountain drinks they have Pepsi products/have Dr Pepper and diet Dr Pepper for my fellow dr p lovers. For sure would eat here again especially for the major kid friendly factor plus it was extremely clean.

Where's the apples? One thing I love more than peach cobbler is apple cobbler so I was excited to hear about this new item at City Barbecue. As you can see there's no apples! I put it on a plate so you guys can see for yourself. I'm not sure if I just got a bad scoop or what but I believe there should be some type of quality control, someone should've noticed this! Not only the apples are missing but this was extremely dry, not even the whipped cream that comes with this helped. I only come here for the dessert because everything else on the menu is of low quality especially online/delivery orders. I never had this issue with the peach. Just bring back the original because you shouldn't offer this to customers. I tried to tough it out since I hate wasting food but in the trash it goes, 1 star!

bbq for dinner again!! this time we visited city barbeque and i liked it more than the other bbq spot. it was our first time and the worker so kindly gave us some samples to try! we tried their brisket and pulled pork. loved the brisket so i ended up getting a sampler of brisket and chicken! the alabama chicken was really delicious! it was mixed in with some sort of white sauce and not dry at all. (also my first time trying alabama chicken!) for the sides i got corn pudding and green beans. both were yummy! we also got fried pickle chips which is just deep fried pickles and it was good! delish when dipped in ranch. we also got a banana bread pudding on the house!! it was so sweet of the worker to do that for us :) we ended up eating it at home and it was pretty good! tasted like a cinnamon-y pie with banana~

The ribs were tender, sauce mild, sides balanced. Overall decent but ordinary, a fair three-star dinner.

As we were walking up my grandson said " this is a fancy place ". The decor is nicer than most bbq places for sure. I was surprised to see so many options that were not bbq and a large selection of sides. He got meatloaf with Mac and cheese and baked beans. He said it was the best meatloaf he ever had and this comes from a picky eater! He loved the Mac and cheese as well. It was a huge serving so I got to try the meatloaf and he was right. He didn't share the Mac and cheese. Neither of us cared for the baked beans. I had the brisket, Brussel sprouts and potato salad. The brisket was tender and flavorful. Awesome. The potato salad was ok but I didn't care for the Brussel sprouts . I would try two different sides next time. A basket of hush puppies and biscuits came as well. We were both so thirsty and I can report they had excellent sweet tea. Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant. The food came out faster than I expected. We will be back!

It took over 30 min to get a drink, and 1.5 hours for food. On top of that I order a basic grilled cheese sandwich and ordered it with American cheese. I asked the hostess if they had American cheese and they said yes. I then asked the server if they had American cheese and they said yes. Now this might be a simple item but my son is a very particular eater. After waiting over 1.5 hours the food finally came out and it was not American cheese. It was now 9:30pm and all surrounding restaurants were now closed. When the food was delivered, I told the server that it was not American cheese and she told me yes it was but then came back and told me they didn't have american cheese. In addition to that the meat was fatty and not very well cooked. What happened next really blew my mind. The manager came up to me and told me that they would not charge me for the grill cheese sandwich. This was her solution to a problem that left my kid not eating and no other options as we were visiting in town. I told her that there was no way I would pay for food we didn't eat. She didn't offer any other solution to the problem. Horrible management skills, didn't offer anything for their mistake and made it feel like it was my fault they screwed up. We should have listened to the bartenders at the surrounding places that told us to avoid this place.

I took a seat at the outdoor bar and started with some smoked wings. 5 whole wings, so really 10 wings at most places. Meat was juicy enough, maybe I was hoping for more of a dry rub though. I used the tangy BBQ sauce and sweet BBQ sauce on them, and they certainly enhanced the flavor. I usually like mustard based sauces, but theirs was little more peppery than I wanted Then, per the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the brisket melt sandwich, and it was the undisputed highlight of the meal Muenster cheese, thinly sliced white onion, pickle chips, and a good load of horseradish sauce. The brisket had an amazing flavor, and all the other toppings came together beautifully. But that Union bakery bun is just another level. It's like brioche, it was so soft, but somehow a little more substantial. For my side dish, I went with the sweet potatoes with goat cheese, pepitas, and agave. This was just ok. For me, the potatoes could have been cooked longer, a little more crispness would have really helped. I did think the goat cheese was a unique flavor with a milder ingredient like a sweet potato, but it did work with the other ingredients pretty well. Only one unisex bathroom and it's small, so be warned!

I ordered a combo plate of chicken pastry and bbq pork, with sides of fried okra and potato salad. Everything was served piping hot, just as it should be. The Chicken Pastry (chicken and dumplings) had wonderful flavor and was comfort food at its finest with thick and wide chewy noodle dumplings. So often chicken and dumpling dishes can be overly salty but Ole Time Barbecue's was perfectly seasoned. The barbecue pork also had great flavor and also was seasoned perfectly, though unfortunately I can't do even the most mild of spicy, so even tho there were only a few red pepper flakes, they made it a little bit challenging for me to eat. The fried okra was cooked and seasoned perfectly and not at all oily and the potato salad was also really tasty. I also tasted their coleslaw and mac and cheese from Hubs dinner and both were delicious as well. Also loved their sweet tea, I got it 25% sweet . The biggest surprise was the large basket of tasty hush puppies brought to our table the minute we sat down, and refilled. Also delicious and seasoned perfectly. The location is very homey and diner like, with just a handful of tables so you may have to wait, though luckily we didn't. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was they served their sides in styrofoam containers versus reusable dishes like they use for their main courses. I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist. Service was friendly and as soon as I finished my iced tea, another appeared. My wings were brought out first and it was a while for the rest of the meal as the restaurant was full. But they didn't rush me at all. I actually liked the space between the dishes, as I might not have been able to eat it all otherwise. I couldn't finish both biscuits and was even provided a container for the honey. I am going to miss Beasley's, but I'm glad I got a positive experience to remember the restaurant.

Started with the biscuits topped with crackling and house-made preserves, and honestly, that combo alone made me question why I don't eat more biscuits in life. Sweet, salty, buttery chaos in the best way. For the main, I went with the pork chop and greens. The chop leaned a little overcooked for me personally, but the sauce helped bring things back together and added good flavor. The greens had a nice little kick of heat, but I kept waiting for that deep smoky ham hock flavor to show up like an old Southern grandma entering the kitchen... and it never quite arrived. Overall though? Still a solid meal, strong whiskey program, cool atmosphere, and definitely worth checking out if you're in Raleigh looking for a bourbon-forward dinner spot. Travelin_Broke approved with a slight side-eye from the greens.

I like the environment and the wait staff is always phenomenal, however this last time I couldn't…read moreeat my favorite thing on the menu (lamb burger) like so many other they amped the spice up. I originally thought it was the sauce which the waitress voluntarily remade but no the current chef is apparently fallen into the current dining trope of spicy is better to the point. I gave my burger to someone else at the table to eat. That said everyone else enjoyed their meals and as always, no complaints on the drinks but... I won't be the one selecting/suggesting it when we're going out to each going forward.
