Catering By Design catered a family reunion for me in Cary. The food was outstanding and I am a very difficult person to please! Michelle set up the entire buffet with disposable chafing dishes and sterno and everything stayed warm and delicious. Our menu was a 5 star Greek salad with strawberries and feta, grilled vegetables, penne with red peppers and basil cream sauce, mashed red skin potatoes and rolled chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms in a cream sauce. We used catering by design to provide food for a graduation party. We had 45 people attend, and ordered food for 40 people we ordered a combination of appetizers and entrées. We ordered the slider bar, chicken parmesan, fresh fruit, Tuscan breads and spreads, and buffalo chicken dip. Cristina brought the food to our home. We ordered the 'nice set up' which included linens and finer serving dishes, and I would highly recommend this! The food was really good, and super generous portions. We had tons of leftovers. The food was set up in less than 30 minutes, and then the team returned the next morning to pick up all of the dishes. It was super easy and made the event stress-free. Luckily, I found Catering by Design and now I'm never letting them go! The biggest impression they made was just how easy everything was. From the beginning, they made figuring out the menu so simple. Other caterers were so confusing with their options, prices, tiers, combos, it was so stressful. But with CBD, everything was so organized, the prices were clear and they were so helpful and responsive with any last minute changes we wanted. At the event, setup was a breeze. We had a small, last minute reception to celebrate the life of our late aunt with family and friends. I gave them less than a 48hr notice and Kelli was able to accommodate our party. Ronnie setup the event and he was such a gentleman,super responsive and helpful. He cleaned up after the event and packaged all the leftover food for us. I submitted a request online for a quote. I was having a small party of about 15 people. It took a day for them to get back with me. The emails were not very friendly. They were just to the point questions. After answering all of the questions I was told that it would be $500 minimum because it was a Sunday and they had no other orders that day. I had put the estimated amount that I wanted to spend in my original request. I feel like Kelli could have told me from the beginning that they could not meet my budget. I also find it ridiculous that because they have no other orders there is a $500 minimum. Since they have no orders that day you'd think they would at least want to make some money. I will never ask for their services again and I will not recommend them. I'm sorry I was unable to taste their food because from the other reviews it looks like I missed out. read more

These guys catered our wedding reception and it was fantastic. Not only was the food very good, the serving staff was amazing. People were always telling us we wouldn't be able to eat and everyone would be trying to talk to us the whole time...well, when we arrived at the reception, food was already waiting for us so we didn't have to go serve ourselves. That might have been our coordinator but they did it for us. The staff stopped by to ask us if we needed anything at all a diligent amount of times (it wasn't too much either) and it was just an overall good experience. I recommend them highly. read more

Not very Good! Our community used Catering By Design to cater our Super Bowl Party. $15 was charged per person and the food was quite poor. In fact, their is a petition (so far 80 folks) being sent throughout our community to request our HOA to stop using these folks because of the inferior quality. I was having a surprise birthday party for my wife at a friends house. I needed everything taken care of at the house so there was no work for my friends to do at their house before, during and after the party. Step 1. We wanted a menu of apps that were heavy enough but not dinner. Mendy supplied us with a long list of possibilities and helped us pick the right ones from a large variety they have on their menu. Step 2. The set up was completed after a visit to the house prior to the party with input from the homeowner. The food looked great on the display and was absolutely outstanding with compliments from ALL the attendees. Step 3 At the end of the evening the house was spotless, the leftovers were neatly wrapped and boxed and the homeowner was required to do nothing! Well made Italian lunch for a catered office lunch and learn. The Chicken Parmesan and Four cheese baked ziti were not dry, like most catered pasta/chicken dishes. The vegetables were light and salad fresh. Desserts of lemon squares and cannolis went over well. Would have been nice to have a dairy free option, but I'm sure they would modify if asked. Outstanding!!! I can't say enough great things about Catering by Design. I was looking for a caterer for a Branch Leader's Meeting that we were having in our corporate office here in Raleigh. I booked them for lunch on a Tuesday and Wednesday and I was also having them all out to dinner at my home on Tuesday night. I was so pleased with the first meal we received for lunch on Tuesday. We ordered barbecue and barbecue chicken and fixings with banana pudding for dessert. Everyone loved the entire meal! For the dinner at my house, we had roast beef, rotisserie chicken, salad, mashed potatoes and vegetables and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Again, it was a huge hit with everyone, in fact they were all asking what we were going to be having for lunch on Wednesday as they were going out our front door! I had ordered the Fajita Bar with cheesecake for the lunch on Wednesday. We have these meetings 3 or 4 times a year and they have ALL asked/insisted that we have Catering by Design provide all our future meals. Their corporate lunch menu options are varied enough to feed a picky group every day for weeks. We have probably used them for group lunches 100 times and every time has been on time and the same high level of quality. Because our daughter and future husband were out of town, we had our first tasting without them and actually booked that day. When the couple was in town, Catering by Design was gracious in providing a second tasting for them (and they loved it as much as we did).
