Lemme tell you... if you already don't know. Daniel's has the best Italian food in Apex. Maybe even the triangle. We loved the old timey feel and ambiance. From the hostess to our servers. Everyone was incredible. We started our meal with the focaccia bread with marinara. When I tell you We're still thinking about it a week later it's no exaggeration. lol I had the pear, grape and blue cheese salad which was so light and fresh! A way bigger portion than I was expecting. For our mains my wife had The penne ala casa and she thought it was incredible. So flavorful and delicious. the perfect sauce to pasta ratio. I had the lamb cannelloni. What a show stopper. The flavors, the textures all combined into a symphony on my palate. We had to run, so we ordered the tres leche cake to go. Another grand slam. I've been going to Daniels for many years and have generally had good experiences and really enjoyed the food. However, my last two visits were sorely lacking. On one, my son ordered the chicken Marsala, which we have enjoyed before but it's been a long time. This time it was just perfectly awful. Salty and very little flavor. I kept thinking "where is the Marsala"? Then we went this past Monday night. There was some confusion over the pizza special, which would have been ok except Seth the owner came over and handled the discussion so poorly that even the couple sitting behind us stopped by on their way out to say they were sorry for the exchange we experienced and would not be back. We probably won't be back either, which is a real shame because we are very loyal customers of many years. But there are other good Italian restaurants in the area without rude owners and who will appreciate the business. I'm sure this review will not impact Daniels business or cause Seth to change his demeanor, but just be forewarned that if you have an issue, the owner will not be helpful in resolving. read more

I grabbed takeout from here recently and had a good experience. First, the takeout entrance is a separate door on the side of the building :) I initially made the mistake of walking into the main door for sit-down customers. They kindly redirected me to the correct door, though, and our food was ready for pickup! I got a regular small pie while my wife got the gluten free (cauliflower) option. Honestly, the pizza was pretty darn good! I would say it's probably the best I've had in the area. The price was reasonable and the restaurant had plenty of parking. Our group came back again to try this place. There were 14 of us this time and we were all set up in the same corner as before, we were just thankful it was ready. This time the waiter was much much better and did a great job with everything from our drinks to getting to go boxes. I had the lasagna lunch special and it was good. It came with a choice of Caesar or garden salad and bread had already been served and passed around. No butter or oil for dipping but it was still good. When I asked about dressing choices he said they make all the dressings in house. The decor is nice and there is a private parking lot. We will probably try this place again in the future. read more

While I have never stepped foot into Daniel's before, my family has been taken care of, on multiple occasions, by their reliable and consistent catering. Whether it be a small family gathering, or having friends pop in, everyone has taken a liking to the food on offer. I have a degree of confidence that my catering experiences here translate positively (if not better) to the dine-in experience. We typically opt for the family size trays and this is usually plenty of food for the event we are hosting, plus lots of leftovers. From a price perspective, I think things are fair! Our go-to pick is their chicken parmesan on top of pasta. Daniel's is not shy with the amount of chicken they offer, and I think it is delicious. Although done via catering, the chicken stays moist and the parmesan breading survives the commute back home. You will probably need extra sauce to top the chicken at home, but I am glad they do not over-sauce at the restaurant and make everything soggy. My only complaint about this item is the pasta. It always sits under the bed of chicken and becomes really soft, I almost prefer just eating the chicken on its own. My personal favorite item are Daniel's meatballs on a good day. On a good day, you can really taste the blend of meats used in the meatballs and the texture is delicate. I could seriously eat two dozen of the meatballs on a good day. Unfortunately, there have been a few times where the meatballs lacked flavor, but the good days are great! My family's other favorites include the focaccia bread and lasagna. We always have plenty of food and happy faces at the house whenever we cater. Next step will be to come in and eat at the restaurant. I know Daniel's by their limited family tray menu, but I would be curious to know Daniel's in its full capacity. read more

Daniel's Italian Restaurant in Apex, NC was such a delicioso treat. I had the chicken parmigiana and my cousin had the lasagna. The menu was quite extensive, but we went with Italian classics. The service was wonderful as we went during the middle of the afternoon on a hot summers day and practically had the whole place to ourselves. This food is high class, full of flavor and worth every penny and the drive to Apex (my pasta dish served me for 3 servings - 2 person meal with app, drink, main, and dessert was $80). First and foremost, I would like to start my review off by thanking Joy in catering, Seth the owner and the 2 servers assigned to my catered party at Daniel's. This poor team had to accommodate last minute changes, dietary restrictions for gluten free, vegetarian and lactose intolerant guests. There were about 48 of us. They rolled with the punches and served us seamlessly and calmly. We ordered Caesar salads, chicken parm, baked ziti etc for our group. This was the best experience I have had coordinating a large group. Unfortunately we were focused on being present and didn't take photos :( once someone sends me some I will update post. what happened to this place? This used to me our go to takeout. Recently i went to order for pickup our usual penne ala casa and Chicken Alfredo pasta. Called in the usual and was shocked to hear the cost. What's even more shocker is how small the foil container now and the food was not as good as before. So they jacked up the price but the quantity and quality went south. 7" container that's halfway full, this is what you use for salads and side dishes., for $25 a pop i'm sure you can do better. Time to find another place or like what my partner said, your penne and Alfredo tasted way better anyways. I mean if you're going to jack up the price at least maintain the quality and portion smh. Service was excellent! Many thanks to our server. Ordered a couple of draft beers. It took awhile and when she put them on the table the foam head had subsided. Had an enjoyable dinner here with two others. Our server, Peyton, was friendly, inviting, and attentive to our needs. The mushroom ravioli I had was very good and quite filling. My companions' chicken and mushroom in marsala cream sauce and the cajun shrimp over linguini were enjoyed both at the restaurant and for another meal made from the leftovers the next day. 10/10 this was delicious. We started with the calamari and it was done perfectly. Oops to the only piece left. Next I had a Cesar salad. I shouldn't have as I was already getting full- and to be honest, it was average. Forgot a picture of that. But the main course. Oh man! Veal Madeira over pasta is the way to go. The portions were huge and I have plenty for tomorrow. My friend had Cajun pasta with salmon and the piece was a nice size! She loved hers too. The homemade focaccia was also delicious. We ordered three different pasta , fettuccine w/ shrimp, penne in vodka sauce and chicken and mushrooms in marsala.. all pasta were tasty when eaten fresh and I was not able to guess the amount of butter the leftovers next morning holy sweet god of butter ... the bowl was half full with butter when we reheated Once and year experience kind of place .. not your everyday eatery Our server was very confused on his facial expressions when we asked few questions regarding how pasta is made in the kitchen and if sauce has any beef broth ...and he finally asked us to go with a pasta of his choice and we did not argue ... Oh My Gosh. I have gone here before and it's been good but holy crap the last thing I ordered was incredible. It was the best thing I've eaten in the last 12 months. The mushroom ravioli. I don't even love mushrooms so I don't know why I ordered it but I am glad I did. I went back two times after having it within a week it was so good. I haven't had the best service here each time but this food was so great. They do have a gluten free menu which is really helpful for my fiancé to eat here. They also have really good bread they serve. Just go there once to try it. Love the ambiance of Daniel's, looks like authentic Italian restaurant. We are introducing a friend to Daniel's for the first time. As soon as we got out of our car we were hit with an overwhelming scent of garlic. Now that'll get the tastebuds going! We were quickly greeted and seated in a side room with a fountain. It was looking good for a really nice experience! Soon after our waitress arrived. Just an FYI, on the weekends the dinner menu is all day, no lunch menu on either day, only M-F. After perusing the menu for a bit we all decided, which isn't easy cos it's a big menu and everything sounds great. I was so focused on what I ordered I forgot what everyone else got, but they did make lots of yummy noises eating theirs! I ordered the salmon in a creamy lemony dill sauce with spinach and roasted red peppers. I will say, it wouid have been excellent had there not been lemon seeds in it, unbeknownst to me, until I bit into a couple and my mouth filled with a very bitter flavor. That happened pretty early on and it was hard to shake it. The roasted red peppers were excellent tho and were the only thing that temporarily broke through that bitter lemon seed flavor. Unfortunately it really ruined the entire dish, so not a great experience for me. read more

As we drove up, I saw the dark overhang, the concrete benches, the cursive logo, and I could tell it was an Italian restaurant that wasn't built last week! We entered on a Saturday afternoon to the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Perry Como, which I always enjoy, it just sets the mood in these kinds of restaurants. Only one other table was occupied at the time. We were seated promptly, and I liked the tables had a full layer of wine corks arranged underneath the glass. For starters, we got the grilled portabella mushroom filled with spinach pesto, roasted red peppers, and topped with mozzarella cheese and herbed bread crumbs in a pool of sweet balsamic vinaigrette. I really enjoyed the texture of the bread crumbs, they added a nice counter to the balsamic, which I felt was a little too sweet for my taste. The mushroom was cooked nicely, and now I'm thinking about making some spinach pesto in my kitchen. The bowl of mussels was another highlight. I don't know how many we got, but it had to be well over a pound. They come with either marinara sauce or a garlic white wine broth; we went with the latter, and it was a stellar decision. Can't ever have enough garlic! And throw in some of their homemade focaccia for dipping...well that's good living. We also split a Tuscan salad with romaine and radicchio, salami, chick peas, banana peppers, red onion, tomato, Romano cheese and homemade croutons then drizzled with a balsamic reduction (I omitted the olives). I asked for some regular Italian dressing and it helped, their balsamic was just too assertive for my taste. Oh and for my check in, I got 50% off dessert. I opted for the pumpkin cheesecake. Good spice, really creamy. Maybe a little whipped cream would have taken it over the top. I'm pretty picky with Italian restaurants, but this one was a fine experience, and that was just during lunch with a limited menu. read more

I came to Daniel's on a Saturday afternoon and the establishment was simple and very much a traditional looking Italian restaurant both on the inside and outside. My friends and I each got an entree to try and I love how big the portions are for each dish and all of them were delicious! I got the lasagna since I saw it was a popular item and it was simple yet delicious, no complaints really! It was the first time I tried chicken and mushroom with Marsala cream sauce and it was decent. The salmon sauce was surprisingly light and refreshing as well. Not pictured but one of the BEST Tres Leche Cake I've never had! It was moist, not too sweet, and perfect after the surprising not too heavy pasta meal. Highly recommend this place! read more
