It's pretty nice the reviews kinda scare me but it's nice music. And the person who took our order was nice. Not knowing when I go into is pretty scary not really had a liking of barbecue, but we're gonna try some today. I hope it's pretty good. It's was great I ate a whole thing of salt

Was visiting Raleigh on a work trip and a colleague took us here for lunch as I had a hankering for some BBQ. I noticed three massive smokers as we walked in, which is always a good sign. They have a decent variety of meats to try and even more sides to complement them. I ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and turkey along with the beans and green beans. The lady at the front helped me and even offered for me to try the beans first, which was a nice gesture and solidified my choice as they were delicious! I made an Arnold Palmer with about 70% lemonade and 30% sweet tea which hit the SPOT, especially when paired with the savory profile of the meats and sides. I tried three of their sauces: Original, Swine Wine, and their Brush Fire. The Brush Fire was my by far my favorite, followed by the Swine Wine as both had great flavor profiles. The original was enjoyable, but nothing to write home about. The meats were flavorful, but all were on the dry side (especially the turkey) which admittedly was quite the let down and the reason why I'm giving this review 4 stars and not 5. The pulled pork was a bit on the salty side and the turkey didn't have a lot of flavor, so the sauces really came to the rescue. I'm not picky, so I enjoyed the food and the meal in general was still very satisfying but I did want to be honest in my assessment. A couple positives are the portions, which were generous, and the prices are quite reasonable to boot. Would definitely recommend this place if you want a quick BBQ fix, but would caution to keep your expectations to a minimum.

Had a great experience! Easy ordering and quick service with plenty of seating! Was on a business trip and this spot popped up as it was nearby the airport. The set up is similar to Panera, you order and pay then they call you when your order is ready. So easy! The menu was excellent and loved the drink selection (sweet tea was so good), it was recommended by the cashier to try the sliced turkey - wow it was so moist and I really liked the pulled pork too! It came with 2 sides, coleslaw and corn pudding and a roll. Also somehow ended up with peach cobbler. I brought that home - yum. Everything was really good! I'd absolutely recommend!

City Barbeque was pretty good. I came here for lunch during the week and it was a popular place. I was thinking of the pulled chicken sandwich, but I asked about the 'Bama sauce and they said it was a creamy marinade. I wasn't feeling creamy so they said the could make a plain chopped chicken. It ended up just being a whole breast and a thigh on the side. Not as exciting as chopped. The baked beans were delicious. I'd give it another try.

Came here during a visit to rex hospital where there is no food. Located within walking distance to the west end of the hospital. Got a beef brisket sandwich with no bun, green beans and coleslaw. All of it came quickly and was hot. The drinks are self serve so I mixed sweet tea and lemonade. Excellent !!! The meat was cooked well and there were two big thick slices and a smaller slice. They have several different sauces to choose from and I liked the sweet and the original flavors. You order at the counter and they call your name and you pick up your tray. It was ready by the time I got my drink. The tables were all clean and the place was well lit and decor was uncluttered. I would return here. Wish I had found this place Friday. I would have been here every day since.

The cafe was closed at the museum so I ended up at City Barbeque as I hadn't been to the other location in a while. After the visit here, I remembered why. City Barbeque does not fulfill orders correctly. Had I remembered that, I would have checked my order before leaving. It wasn't busy at all and I didn't order much so I thought they could get the order right. I was wrong. Now the phone call to the restaurant was also disappointing. The phone number takes you to a call center somewhere not the actual restaurant. I was told I would need to get the City BBQ Rewards App to get the credit for the missing item. It seems they should be able to pull up the receipt and issue a credit to my credit card. After I insisted on my credit card getting refunded this was done but they needed the card number so I will closely be watching that as I don't trust this company. If you do carry out here, make sure to check your order before you leave.

We followed by sharing three entrees: 1) the Wisconsin grilled cheese sandwich (swap sourdough for wheat bread): good basic grilled cheese, the apple slices were thin and not super crispy, I didn't think they added more than a smidgen of flavor, 2) shrimp and grits: not as cheesy as many, with a little kick to the shrimp, and 3) classic mac & cheese. Classic, but also basic: next time I'll go for something more interesting. We finished off with the banana pudding, which was disappointing: many slices of hard, flavorless fruit. We split on the whipped topping: I thought it was good, fam said it tasted like Cool Whip. Service was good, server asked if I wanted a refill when I started getting low.

If it's a beautiful day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside instead. Still, the inside has a cozy, laid-back feel that works well. Shoutout to Qua, who was both the hostess and our server. She was welcoming, attentive, and handled everything smoothly, even as a few more parties came in while she was the only one serving at the time. One thing I really appreciated was that she let us know upfront what items were out of stock before we even looked at the menu. That level of transparency is huge and makes the experience so much better. My son ordered a slider with fries from the kids' menu. It comes with just one slider, so I ordered a second, definitely the right call. He enjoyed it, and the fries were cooked well, just a little on the salty side for our taste (ketchup helped balance that out). I had the shrimp tacos. It's packed and perfect portion for lunch. The shrimp, pineapple slaw, and chipotle mayo was a nice mix. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms). The location is also a plus, super close to the Art Museum, which makes it a great stop before or after visiting. Overall enjoyable, and I'd come back, especially to try more of the menu and the drinks.

The Cary location vibe is elegant without being intimidating and less cramped than the Chicago restaurant. The service was impeccable. We tried the "knuckle sandwich", the roadside smash, and the rigatoni and meatballs - all of which were outstanding. At Reid's suggestion we paired the burger and lobster sandwich with the crispy jalapeños side - so good. We rounded out the meal with a hazy ipa and a cider, both local and delicious. The staff is consistently friendly, the food is always great, and the space is clean, lively, and welcoming. It works just as well for families and date nights as it does for friend gatherings or corporate dinners, whether it's a large group or just a few of us out for an offsite meal. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The appetizers are all solid, and I'm fairly certain I've taken down an entire guacamole plate on my own before. The Caesar salad is a favorite, and I usually choose between one of their steaks, which has never disappointed. We've also dined with people who have dietary restrictions including gluten-free and vegetarian needs, and the kitchen has always been accommodating. The atmosphere is fun and energetic, and parking has always been easy and convenient, which is a big plus when you're coming in with a group. One small, constructive note from earlier visits is that a couple of servers were newer and less comfortable with wine recommendations. This is completely understandable and didn't detract from the experience, but having a quick backup or simple pairing guidance could make business dinners even smoother. On our most recent visit, I arrived late and the group had already ordered wine, and the selections were excellent. The food was outstanding, the service was seamless, and everything came together beautifully. Overall, Doc B's continues to be a reliable, enjoyable spot with great food, a welcoming vibe, and strong service. I always look forward to coming back when I'm in town, and if you're ever on the fence, don't hesitate. It's absolutely worth the visit.
