I will be honest - the food was so hot and fresh - we ate it before I thought about taking a photo lol so I took one of the building! On a serious note: the customer service was great. Very friendly and attentive. We used the drive thru to complete our order - so I can't speak for in the inside of this location. This way I could go and not be backing up traffic. My big problem was I paid $1.89 up charge to add bacon to my sandwich. I received two tiny pieces that wouldn't even equal one slice of bacon. Sweet Tea: 10/10 Brisket: 10/10 Service: 10/10 I recently visited and ordered the two-meat platter, and let me just say: it's more than enough food for one person. I chose brisket and turkey as my two meats, and paired them with baked beans and coleslaw. The platter also comes with a slice of bread, which is a nice touch. The brisket? Absolutely amazing--smoky, tender, and perfectly seasoned. I was so stuffed after finishing that, I ended up packing the turkey and remaining sides to go. I haven't tried the turkey yet, but I'm looking forward to it next time. As for the coleslaw, it wasn't my favorite. I think I prefer the version they serve at the Greensboro location. Ate here tonight at 6. Ordered for 2. Two Texas Reuben sandwiches with potato salad, baked beans, iced tea. We were there an hour. Place was less than half full. Most tables dirty with visible trash left behind. Trash cabinet had its door open with trash on floor. Reminded me of a college dining room. No one attempted to cleandining area entire time we were there. Sandwiches were served at room temperature. Lots of fat on brisket. Teaspoon sized dollop of Cole slaw on sandwich. City BBQ in Wendell has the BEST Cobb salad around. Fresh greens, perfect tomatoes, bacon, eggs and the protein of your choice. I got crispy chicken. It was $10.99. I barely ate half of it and have half of it tomorrow. This is a new item for them and is 10 out of 10. Hubby had sampler platter with turkey, brisket and sausage with 2 sides and bread. One of the chefs was carving ribs like butter, so we had to get some of those too. Totally recommend! read more

Got there at 6:00 on Sunday and they were already out of ribs so we ordered brisket, half a chicken, some BBQ and sides. The sides were ok but the brisket, chicken, and BBQ were colder than room temperature. Also when trying to get Dr. Pepper Diet from the drink station, water was leaking all over from around the dispenser. Some water gets in the drink and some all over your hand. We were very disappointed! I'll never go back to City BBQ in Wendell again! I've had a much better experience at the Garner City BBQ near Cabela's. Someone needs to straighten out the store in Wendell! read more

The ribs and sausage were great. I like their green beans cooked with bacon. All well done. I couldn't eat the fried okra. Saying it's fried is misleading. It's breaded but not cooked long enough to be crispy, just soggy. Avoid the undercooked okra. read more

We tried the pulled pork, brisket and texas style sausage- brisket was cut poorly, pulled pork was decent and the texas style sausage tasted just like breakfast sausage... Our family has eaten at the Garner restaurant for years. We were very excited when CB opened in WF. HOWEVER- after eating at the WF location numerous times -we have found it to be lacking in quality regarding the brisket and at times the smoked turkey. We decided to give it another try today - unfortunately both the turkey and brisket were extra dry - they crumbled due to the dryness--should never have been served. I haven't written a negative review -- even though it was warranted- b/f in hopes this would change. They did give me another very small serving of brisket to replace the first serving. Customer service is important- the guy slicing and serving the brisket seemed very annoyed and unfriendly as he handed me my brisket. I don't like to complain but if you're paying $34 for a meal - it is disappointing when you receive food of this quality read more

Had a great lunch today. Overall experience was nicer than average, but just under 4 stars. Order at counter then your name is called. We arrived around 2:30 and the dining room could have used a little attention (tables cleaned and floors swept). We each ordered the sausage sandwich ($6.99 each). Sausage was good, but recommend serving on a bun vs Texas toast. The bread was a little soft/soggy. In addition, we shared the 3 side plate ($7.99) with okra, baked beans, and collards. Baked beans had plenty of brisket chunks and all of the sides serving sizes were ample to share considering everything else we ordered. While the beans were tasty they are on the sweeter side and my general tastes are more savory. The collards were a hit and loaded with pork and just the right amount of vinegar. The okra was surprisingly tasty. I was afraid it would be heavy and greasy, but it appeared to be lightly hand breaded and flash fried. Only thing missing was a little salt. Separately, we shared an order of 6 wings ($8.99). While small in size, flavors were delicious and smokey. While I enjoyed the spicy ranch, blue cheese would have been nice. The pickles that came on the side with the wings were also delicious. Sauces were good but recommend pre filling disposable cups as the bottles were dirty after the lunch rush and based on set up they'll likely stay grimy/dirty. They have 5 different sauces to try and I enjoyed all of it! The only minus was the speed of service. It was not busy but it took awhile for food to be made which lost one star. The Brisket sandwich is just fat and gristle with a touch of meat even when I asked for Lean. I always inspect everything that is served to me, no matter who serves it. They tell me that's what lean looks like. I'm from Texas, I'v eaten brisket every week of my life. I know they could've fixed it, but I was told "that's how they serve their lean." I left the sandwich. Not a bite taken. I didn't ask for a refund. I just wanted a LEAN brisket sandwich like I've had all my life. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the 3rd experience where the Wendell Falls store has totally blown my order and given nasty service from a manager . 3 strikes you are out.. the current experience Ryan the manager today is a nasty person who should not be working in the restaurant industry. I did a curbside pickup order I followed instructions and no one ever came out. My food was done earlier than 545 as the app said it would be. I got there early I was there at 532 and let them know I was there and would wait no problem , the order was done at 539 and they didn't bring it. go in at 550 wait in line for help my food is sitting for 30 minutes cold and soggy. I asked for a fresh order Ryan the manager gets smart and said they have a lot of orders and not their fault and had an attitude so I requested refund and they will never get my money again. I am also reporting the store to the corporate office 3 times I had problems and not a coincidence Ryan has a problem with people like me. Improvement would be a manager who is a people person I did nothing and but ask for a fresh sandwich. read more

I had a curbside pick up order and was early and sat inside my vehicle for 30 mins after I was supposed to have had my food brought out to me. I go inside of the store and see the bag was stamped for 5;31. I went into the store at 5:51 and asked if he was the manager to voice my concern. In return this rude individual responds we are busy and backed up and have other customers. I told him the food was cold by now and he responded its not that cold. By now I'm furious. I wanted my food remade then the same idiot was rude and nasty again not even a I'm sorry let me fix the problem or how can we make this right. So I requested just give me my money back. He didn't even do that. Instead he goes back behind the counter trying to intimidate me. I asked the guy who was behind the counter what was his name. He hears me asking that and tried to get nasty again. Saying I told you we were busy and backed up. Still no I'm sorry let me make this right for you or anything. Luckily I'm a Christian in my old days I would of went behind the counter and slapped fire out his mouth. So to end this story do not waste your heard earned money to have to deal with a manager who does not have any customer service skills. I have contacted the corporate office and no one has responded. My family loves city BBQ in Wendell. Friendly staff and great food! Clean dinning room all three are a plus for me.

We ordered take out City Platter and when we got home the brisket was dry, barbecue was burnt, we ordered pint sides and got individual as well as 2 sauces and received none. I definitely do not recommend take out. read more
