Kids crispy chicken tenders with Mac 'n cheese

Came here to ask a question and my daughter wanted their pork rinds. It was delicious last time and this never changed. It was well seasoned and very crunchy. Service was prompt and courteous. If you want a nice snack, get this! It's good!

CATERING EXPERIENCE: We had our wedding catered the food was excellent and our service was very pleasant to work with. In person and administratively they were on top of it the entire time. They were about 20 min late but were very apologetic and professional. There was a little confusion about the carving table as they keep their meat under a warming blanket until it's time to serve so we had people waiting for the meat to come out. Overall I would certainly recommend them for your next event for service, food quality, and cost efficiency!

From the moment we walked in, the service was welcoming and top-notch -- you could tell they truly care about their food and their customers. But let's talk about the flavor. The pulled pork and brisket? Absolute perfection. Smoky, juicy, and seasoned to impress even the toughest BBQ critics. Every bite was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and cooked just right -- not too soft, not too firm -- with a flavor that hugged your soul. The hush puppies added a delightful contrast with their light, sweet crunch that had us reaching for more. And those fries? Sure, they were on the thinner side, but they stayed crispy and full of flavor even after the drive home -- a rare feat! Portions were generous, presentation was solid, and everything tasted freshly made with love. You can tell this place takes pride in doing BBQ the right way. Hands down, this is the best BBQ spot in Fuquay -- possibly the entire Triangle. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is one of those rare must-try joints that will have you planning your next visit before you even finish your plate. We'll 100% be back -- and next time, we're bringing friends.

Let's start with the service... as soon as we came in the lady waved us down and let us know we could set anywhere. She gave us wonderful service. The food on the other hand wasn't very good. I got pulled pork, and it was so BLAND it had no flavor whatsoever. My husband got the brisket and said it was edible with the BBQ sauce added. I had him try my meat and he agreed it was awful. The baked beans were really good. The hush puppies were fine. He got a water, and I got a sweet tea. They didn't even have very good tea. Thankfully we had good service I'll say that. They were very busy, & our food came pretty fast. The restaurant was pretty clean but had ALOT of spills and no signs giving you a warning.

All the meat was so juicy and flavorful and the Mac and cheese is sooo good it was my first time here and I'm definitely coming back. Our server was so nice and always came right when we needed her. The whole vibe is super southern. Love it!

Just arrived for lunch. A bunch of gf options and some vegan too!

Nice place with a wonderful smell of onions and smoky BBQ the minute you walk in. I was shocked that there was so much gluten free. I didn't expect that at all. Nice service. Great brisket. It was next door to a kids play place so it was convenient too. We'll be back.

First visit. New to the area. Very fast and friendly service! Food was good across the board. Everything very tasty and flavorful but not overpowering. Loved the seasoning on the fries. Maybe the best fries I've had in a long time! BBQ comes kind of dry so you can add your own sauces. Choose from eastern, hot, mild, and sweet.

They offer table and booth options with available seating at the bar as well. The "front of the house" are, from what i can tell, an all woman brigade, ranging in ages, and they are all so awsome!! They all bring their own spirited personality. Khao Sen can get busy at times, and these amazing women "get to it". I've seen impatient customers get annoyed after 5 mins of waiting and it's super unfair to this amazing staff. The menu has selective, authentic flavors of Thailand, and every option will have you coming for more. For appetizers we've snacked on the vegetable gyoza (GYO PAK), crispy crab sticks served with sweet chilli sauce (so delicious), Tofu Tod, which i have to emphasize this part. In over 10 years, i've not once taken a second bite when it comes to tofu. Khao Sen has their tofu lighlty battered and fried so deliciously, with their sweet chilli and ground peanuts sauce to dip in. I not only had a second bite but i ate the entire appetizer. Even my vegan friend raves about the Tofu Tod. Ok ok, moving on......ohhh it really is good though, haha. Ok, next we've lip smacked on their steamed dumplings, stuffed with ground pork, shrimp, water chestnuts, onion, scallion, and cilantro, served with a sweet soy sauce (KANOM JEEP).....yes!!!!!. Lets talk chicken wings. Seriously, dang!! Their spicy Thai-style fried chicken wings served with sweet chili sauce (KAI ZAAP) are noise makers. Take a bite and tell me you didn't go "mmMMmm". Making our way on down the list is the tender baby back ribs coated with their southern Thai-style curry paste (SI - KRONG PAD PRIK). These are topped with saffron and very much another delicious option. That's it, we left some still on the menu for next time. Entrees!! I'm between favorites at the moment. The spicy tom yum soup with egg noodles, pork and shrimp dumplings, shrimp, ground pork, fish roll, fish ball, bok choy, cilantro, scallion, crispy wontons, ground peanuts, and fried garlic oil (BA MII TOM YUM) and the northern Thai-style curry, crispy skin chicken thigh, egg noodles, crispy egg noodle, cilantro, scallion, picked radish, shallots, and lime (KHAO SOI). Both are different in flavors but equally devine in their own respects. Now direct your attention to Khao Sen's roasted duck and gravy over rice with steamed Chinese broccoli, pickled ginger, cilantro, and scallion; served with a side of sweet dipping sauce (KHAO NA PED), another eye rolling meal!! You have the option of choosing a rice, white, fried, or berry (purple rice)...... i suggest the berry. The beef broth, thin rice noodles, sliced NY strip, stewed beef, beef tendon, beef ball, cilantro, scallion, and Chinese broccoli will have you talking while eating. My cousin couldn't stop raving about the flavor while eating. All this food talk has me thirsty. I can't get enough of the Lychee Tea which is green tea, lychee, and lychee jelly. My drink magically disappears the first 2 times, everytime, the waitress sets the glass down.....poof just disappears. So, i'm forced to order another . Their peach bellini and lychee saki mojito are aMAAAAZziiing. Delightful and refreshing. Seems to really be a common theme here. Everything is flavorful and refreshingly delicious from the food to the drinks. Khao Sen offers beer, wine, ciders, sake. For non-alchoholic drinks there's fountain drinks, coffe and teas, fruit teas, milk teas, fizzy drinks, milks, annnnnd water. Parking can be limited during rush hours. There is a parking garage currently being constructed, but for now there is a parking lot and street parking. Come one Come ALL! Food: small menu which I do not have any problem with. When I go to Thai/lao restaurants, I always order papaya salad - which will tell me everything and what kind of food I can expect. Very simple taste- that doesn't mean bland. It captures sweet, savory and tang. Ordered green curry. Good flavor but almost bland - it can improve on the ingredients. Khao soi noodles again, taste good but missing something - All the dishes tried seems it was missing fish sauce flavor and more, which all dishes didn't seem to reflect traditional deep flavors. The chicken wings were pretty good. Wish the skin was crunchy and had a better batter. The hat yai dry rub was good, salty and sour but kind of reminded me more like tajin. My son really loved it. Service: yin and yang. One older lady who served our table was nice and attentive. The other supporting female staff there was unfriendly, almost seemed mad at the world. Slow service. Price: I don't know why NC charges so much for Asian food in general. I can't say it's outrageously expensive or reasonable price for the genre of this food. All in all, not a bad tasting food. It captured good flavor and has potential. I felt that the dishes are made afraid to show the real flavor traditional Thai flavor. May be good for entry -level food exploring.

For the savoury Poke bowl, I got spicy crab, seaweed salad, corn, cucumber, rice puff, and furikake all on a bed of brown rice. I like it. The spicy crab has a heat but not too strong that you can't taste anything else. The seaweed salad is nice and fresh. For the sweet bowl, I got pitaya(dragon fruit with açai), granola, blueberries, Nutella, and bee pollen. That was pretty good. The bee pollen is interesting but it's a good one to have in this cold, flu and allergy season. (Lol) the blueberries are huge and sweet. Definitely a place to come back again.

We made a rookie mistake: no reservation. Day before Christmas Eve. The only table available was by the door, which, for us, is a hard no. It was already chilly outside, and sitting by the door means constant drafts, tense shoulders, and food cooling faster with every opening. Not ideal, especially when you're settling in for a proper steak dinner. To their credit, the hostess tried everything--even showing us the reservation layout for the evening. The owner came over personally, and in the end, our options were simple: take the door table or come back at 7:30 pm when more tables would open. We were hungry, but we chose comfort over impatience. My dad left his number just in case a table opened sooner. We went home, had light snacks, and--surprise--got a call at 6:55 pm. Not only was a table available, it was a booth. That alone told me everything I needed to know about how they run this place. Stellar Client Care. When we returned, the owner John Linderman, met us at the door--warm, apologetic, and genuinely appreciative that we came back. The entire staff operates like a well-oiled team, with hospitality that feels intentional rather than performative. It's been a good while since I experienced an owner manager stop by every table to check in. A gesture from better dining times. Now, the food. We ordered: * Stuffed Shrimp with crab meat * Sausage bombs * Prime rib * A tomahawk ribeye to split I don't know if Harvey John's is officially farm-to-table, but the steak tasted incredibly clean--like actual beef. As a native New Yorker living in Los Angeles, I've eaten at many top-tier steakhouses--BOA, Ruth's Chris, Musso & Frank, Nick & Stef's, Steak 48--and I can confidently say this tomahawk was more flavorful and tasted fresher than all of them. Who knew a small-town North Carolina steakhouse would deliver a truly high-end experience? I'm no chef, but I do have a refined palate, and this meal was memorable. Honestly? If Michelin ever looks this way, they should take note. It's comforting to know you can leave one of the biggest food cities in the world and still find a steakhouse worthy of becoming a new regular favorite. Pro tip: Make a reservation--just to be safe. Cheers to Harvey John's.
