BBQ can vary greatly from place to place. SCNB has true eastern North Carolina BBQ. it is always good. Covered in their own vinegar sauce I find it hard to beat. When we lived in Virginia SCNB was a definite stop while traveling in North Carolina. For many years we only ordered the bbq, until one year, my wife tried the fried chicken. OMG. They do chicken right. It reminds me of fried chicken when growing up. The seasoning is the best. Not hot and spicy but just gooood. Publix fried chicken comes close but SCNB always comes out on top. Next come the sides. The Brunswick stew tastes like the recipe is generations in the making. It is thick, meaty, and loaded with vegetables. If you're looking for pulled pork and excellent fried chicken, then SCNB is a fantastic choice. read more

This place had an old diner vibe when we walked in. We were greeted immediately and walked up to order. It's counter service and they bring it to your table if you're dining in. We made 2 trips during the week we were here. The first time I got the chicken and bbq plate, also came with fries and hush puppies and also Cole slaw. As a Florida native. My idea of bbq is different. I'm used to sweet and tangy sauce or a golden mustard sauce. Their sauces are vinegar based with a bit of tomato paste for color and red pepper flakes. I will say it's an acquired taste. It wasn't bad. Their fried chicken was really crispy and it was really juicy, hot and fresh. I also tried their banana pudding which was pretty good. Could have more cookies and add whipped cream, but that's my personal taste. My second trip on the advice of my boyfriend I got the bbq sandwich which you can get with Cole slaw on and then add their vinegar bbq sauce and that was WAY better!! The tangy and creamy together was great. I also go their 3 piece tender snack pack. Wow these tenders were enormous! I had to take them home. One was as big as my hand! Also shared a hotdog with slaw on it and that was meh. I wouldn't get that again didn't care for the hotdog wasn't big enough or juicy enough. read more

Very good dinner - we ordered through Uber Eats and there was a a promotion of BOGO free! The fried chicken was very good, crispy but not greasy. The cold slaw was really good, not overly sweet. Baked beans were just ok. Pecan pie was good, a bit small for a slice. Overall, really good meal. read more

Great fried chicken, quality shredded bbq, plenty of sides. The only place that serves hush puppies that aren't oniony, so they're the only ones I'll eat. Really good Brunswick stew. But 1 get one 1/2 off. If you like sweet tea you'll love theirs. Very busy place but they are always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Don't miss this place! read more

Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q - Fried chicken, hush puppies, fries & Brunswick stew. - Barbeque Near Me - Wake Forest, North Carolina

Came here the other night with a friend. We both ordered the bbq and chicken platter with two sides and sweet tea. Inside was clean, plenty of seating, and our food came out in great haste. Food was delicious and everything hit the spot. The service especially was a highlight and everyone was very lively and full of personalities. Loved every bit of it and it created a comfortable "home away from home" environment I can see folks wanting to return to. I highly recommend an inside sit-down experience, especially around dinner time. I wish everyone working there that night a bright and wonderful future. read more

So we were in NC for a family wedding from Maryland and had to get some bbq. Smithfield's is the closest thing to my grandfather in laws. We wanted to get some pulled pork but were going to pass but I had looked up from my phone just in time to see this location and we walked out the door with $150 worth of meat lol. The workers were very friendly helping us northerns as it had been a few years since we had been to a location but the restaurant and customers were kind and we appreciated them. read more

Once again, I took a chance and ordered takeout from Smithfield and again I was shorted a meal. Had to.get back in the car and drive back to pick up the order while my dinner is home getting cold. I understand this happens but come on! Went inside to reorder and not one person apologized! Just WOW!! read more

Went thru drive thru at 9:30 pm. Got wings and fries. The fries had so much salt on them I had to go back inside and get a second order. The second batch was also salty ‍. I was over it but then my husbands chicken breast was bloody inside. Sorry won't be back to this location. read more

I can say is the food is tasteless and overpriced. The inside is clean; the employees are not very friendly and I'm sure the employee turnover is frequently changed. The drive thru leaves more to be desired. If I'm starving I still drive past this restaurant. I wish I liked it the taste of the food as I like the menu and make the same foods at home. read more

Love Smithfield's BBQ. Food, Service, and Ambiance were all above expectations. I would recommend this restaurant.

We were at this store location and ordered dark meat tailgate package which according to menu sign is 24.49 (8pcs). According to the lady, ignore the price on the board everything is 28.99. My message to the management, you need to alter the pricing on the board. This is misleading. I guess the menu pricing is for reference only and the lady behind counter is charge of the final pricing read more

First visit here on 10/9/20. We went through their busy but fast drive thru. My son wanted their hotdog kid's meal, but the cashier said they don't serve hotdogs. Why is it on the ordering board then? Anyway, luckily he's not picky. Lol. He got a chicken strip kid's meal instead which was not listed on the order board. They were adhering to social distancing inside as well as in the drive thru. After paying at the window, I had to pull up to an orange cone to have my order brought out to me. The guy was really fast. I appreciated that. Our food was fresh. I ordered 2 chicken wings and shrimp basket. I didn't know the shrimp were popcorn shrimp. I expected for that price for them to be medium sized at least. Our food was fresh and very tasty though. Next time I will just order chicken. The shrimp costs too much for the small amount they give. The restaurant is nestled in a busy parking lot next to a gas station and Sonic. People can't drive, so be very careful. We will be back for sure. read more

I have never had a bad meal at any Smithfield's! Delicious pulled pork barbecue and crispy fried chicken. Don't know why they changed their potato salad recipe! The new one is good, but liked the previous recipe better. This location in Wake Forest has the best service out of the many I've been in. Great job! read more

It may close in 35 minutes, but they sure don't want to make anything. Ordered chicken tenders at 9:25pm (they close @ 10), and they don't have any more. I'd bet dollars to donuts they have plenty, they just don't want to make any more. I'd get it if it was 10 or 15 minutes before closing, but over half an hour? Come on SCNB, you can do better. The foods awesome. Work on that service. You can do it! read more

We placed an online order to feed the in-laws who were in town for the weekend after my own Boston butt took longer than expected to cook. Ultimate insult for anyone who takes pride in grilling. The manager was not very accommodating for my wife when she went to pick it up. The food was not even edible. We did report the issue and they partially refunded our order. Don't think we will order from them again. read more

Nice staff and good food, especially the FAT portion sizes! They work as quick as they can for the amount of people who come by.

I love this place, every one of them. The bbq is great, I prefer the "red sauce" but they also have the traditional vinegar base. The hushpuppies are excellent. The tea is great. Just love it. If you dine in, staff will come and check on you and get you refills. That was a surprise to me the first time I went as it's more of a fast food restaurant. With the current pandemic, their drive through is hopping. Dine-in still works, at a reduced capacity. read more

Our family loves this location, we can't say enough how great our experience was. I asked our server before we left what her name was and I wanted you to know it was important for me recognize her and for you to know what an impact she made on our visit. Thank you Ruth for being who you are! The whole staff was wonderful, but she really stood out, it's rare in today's world. Thank You Bbq Pork was wonderful and the atmosphere was very pleasant! read more

We visit the Wake Forest location frequently. Our food was good tonight as usual. Service was quick. It's often busy, and we see the staff working hard. It's always a pleasure when Scott is there! He works hard, is very personable and takes care of his customers. Keep up the good work! read more

I had the BBQ Sandwich with fries. They always give more fries than I can eat, I never leave hungry. Our server Ruth was an amazingly sweet person. It is easy to notice she loves people and lives her job. Ambiance, well, it is fast food, but I will say it was cleaner than a lot of other fast food restaurants. read more

It's been a while since I've done a review but this was worth being my first review in nearly 6 months. Let's lead off with the chicken strips, hush puppies and french fries I ordered. The strips are tinder white meat aka chicken breasts likely cut into thirds. Breaded in a dry flowered batter; they were not amazing, but what it complements well with is the "Red Sauce" they supply with the strips. To say it is amazing is an understatement. All of the potential those strips had were pulled out with the ketchup vinegar blend barbecue sauce. Without the sauce we don't see a 5 star rating, okay? Therefore; order with the red sauce or be prepared to feel like I over sold this place. *** If the strips breading was thicker and independently tasted like something I couldn't make at home I would load this up to 5 stars! *** Next, would be the fries and hush puppies. The puppies are another unique flavor which I am impressed with. The fries are very much like McDonalds. Not a bad compliment. Chicken Strips: 7.9 Fries: 5 Hush Puppies: 7.9 (***) Red Sauce: 9.5 (***) *** = Unique flavor read more

Always a great experience here. Ruth is the sweetest and Mr Trammell is always so helpful. Great food also helps

I visited today 2:13pm. As soon as I opened the door I noticed the very poor conditions of the dining room and the apparent lack of adequate staffing. The lady that usually cleans the dining room was busy doing other work behind the counter. There were about 5 tables in use and of all the other tables only 1 was clean. No napkins in the holders at more than half the tables. The floor looked as if it hadn't been mopped in a week. The staff are walking around as if they have no energy except the lady that cleans the dining room. I've been coming here since it was built and this is the poorest condition I have ever experienced. New management needed asap!!! read more

I ordered on Sunday by drive up. I ordered a combination white and was charged for one. I got home and it was a white plate. I called and they told me to return with the receipt. I asked for the manager and she was a pill. She was so rude. She was like you didn't have to call me up here anybody could have done this. I did also let her know I drove from Raleigh the first and second time. She just looked at me. The only good thing was that all the other staff we nice. They welcomed the customers and one lady working the front was so sweet. It was kind of like she was being more nicer because the manager was acting a donkey. And for some reason the floor was very slippery. So be careful if you go in. If I go there again I am definitely going to check my meal before I leave. Other than that the good is always good. read more
