We live in North Raleigh but regularly do our shopping in Wake Forest because it's so convenient, and once we're there, everything is close by, including lunch. The two of us eat at Over the Falls regularly and always enjoy it. I'm honestly surprised I hadn't written a review before. Lunch for two came to $65.80 + tax and tip, and there was more than enough food. I ordered one of my two favorites: the Ahi Tuna Pita (the other favorite is the blue cheese burger). I paired it with a side salad and blue cheese dressing, plus an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. My wife ordered The Barrel, their Philly cheesesteak, with a side of sweet potato fries. We also shared an order of house-made potato skins. It was far too much food, in a good way, and we took plenty home. Service was outstanding and truly a team effort. One moment stood out: when my wife hesitated to ask for sour cream for the potato skins, our server immediately said, "It's just 15 steps, let me get it for you." That small gesture made a big difference. The rest of the team was equally warm, friendly, and attentive. The ambiance works perfectly for us, lively, busy, and welcoming without feeling chaotic. I would be confident ordering virtually anything from the menu. We'll keep coming back. read more

I went there today to take my friend out for her birthday. My daughter was going to meet us there and just visit and wish my friend a happy birthday. They refused to seat us until my daughter got there. We got there at 11:30 and many tables were open. I asked if we could just be seated at a 4 top and she refused, even after I explained the situation. She said we could sit at a 2 top or the bar. The hostess was unapologetic and rude. Although the food is decent, it's not worth the way we were treated. We won't be back. read more

Overall the food was really good. Everything seemed really fresh and everyone enjoyed their food. It was also priced really well And I think you get good value for the money. It is really hot though. I really wanted to try the wings but I know I would have been sweating up a storm if I did. The Soda also doesn't taste like either coke or Pepsi products. They do not have a very hospitable atmosphere for customers. Won't seat you until the whole party is there and they don't even let you wait inside. It's a shame because the food and servers were very good. But that initial impression is a HUGE turn off. read more

OTF has decent food, but the customer service--especially from the host staff has been consistently disappointing. A few months ago, my husband and I went there for dinner on a rainy evening. He dropped me off at the entrance while he parked, and I went inside to get us a table. I was told they couldn't seat us until the entire party was present, so I waited a couple of minutes for him to come in. During that short time, the hostess gave away our table. We were then told there would be a 20-minute wait, despite several open tables. It seemed like they only allow parties of two at very specific tables, which made the situation more frustrating. On another visit to OTF, I came with a group of four adults, a toddler, and an infant. I explained that we'd need space for a stroller or room for two high chairs. The hostess said there was only one table that could accommodate us and that the wait would be over an hour. She then asked if we really needed to bring both children inside, which felt inappropriate. I asked if we could sit outside since there were open tables, but was told they don't allow high chairs outdoors. Unsurprisingly, we chose not to stay. Based on these experiences, dining at OTF has proven to be unnecessarily difficult. My family and I won't be returning. read more

We've been eating at Over the Falls at least once a month for the past three and a half years, and they are one of the most consistently good, reliably fresh and tasty restaurants I've ever been to. Their burgers are delicious, the kitchen regularly nails the cook (med rare, please), and the fried come out crispy, fresh and hot! Salads are great and very well portioned. Their bar program is great and drinks are strong, balanced, and won't break the bank. Oh yeah...and their award winning she-crab soup is some of the best I've ever had! Staff is always friendly. And as regulars, most wait staff greet us by name with a smile (you could say OOF is our "Cheers!"). One last note about the space...it's a small thing, but they've done an amazing job at soundproofing, so no matter how many people are in the dining room, it always has a quiet and intimate feel. Beef on weckzel was HORRIBLE. I was so looking forward to roast beef on pretzel roll to be served au jus-sounded delicious! Not so fast...served cold with cold dip bowl on an extremely over salted roll. The burgers have not disappointed in the past but last time we were there was also disappointed with the fried chicken as it tasted like frozen food from a grocery freezer select-Dried out and hard to finish! Really enjoyed the food and service. The staff was friendly and the crab and shrimp pasta we had was delicious. I ordered the banana foster pound cake to go and that was good as well, but not as moist or soft like I prefer. I had the berry basic as a mocktail but there was too much carbonation so I couldn't taste any of the flavors. I did not like having to wait outside or for my friend to arrive before being able to be seated, but I guess that's their policy. There's plenty of parking lot parking available as well. What an awesome local place to visit! Came on a Saturday, maybe 2:30 and got a seat for 6! It starts at the front door, pleasant lady seated us, what a cool and comfortable ambiance. Our server was spot on, professional and attentive, knew his menu. We ordered so much, and everyone was so pleased and we shared bites to Desert was killer, we loved every moment of the experience. I met a few friends here today for lunch. I had the Greek salad with grilled chicken. I forgot to take a photo but the portion is impressive and it was delicious. Friend had the small Caesar salad with chicken and she couldn't finish it all either. And someone else had a hamburger that looked amazing too with sweet potato fries. The service was exceptional and they seem to work as a team which is appreciated. The place was busy but we weren't rushed and they checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I ventured out to Wake Forest for our weekly date night. Over the Falls was about 20 minutes from home. When we got there, we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait. Once we got seated our waitress was very friendly and got our drinks right away. We got an appetizer, two main dishes and a dessert. The dessert was what we specifically drove out to this restaurant for. The shrimp appetizer with red dragon sauce was amazing and definitely something I want to eat over and over again. 8 of us went to OTF on a Monday afternoon, arriving at 3pm to celebrate Christmas & have some appetizers & drinks. The hostess was incredibly rude and dismissive to our group. We had 7 of the 8 of us and she said she couldn't seat us until all 8 were in the restaurant. Mind you, it's 3pm. Not busy. Plenty of tables. We decided to leave and go to Strike & Barrel who welcomed us & they were packed with patrons. As we talked about the hostess at OTF, it seemed everyone has had a negative experience with her. The hostess seated me in the corner, where there were 2 side seats, and objected to me moving down in front of the TV where there were 2 side by seats as well. she said they were saving them for "couples ". made no sense to me, they were both 2 seat side by side. The salad is quite large, with fresh crisp veggies. There are several peppers and lots of feta. The pita croutons are crunchy and flavorable. The chili was good. However, it is not spicy at all. It is full of ground beef and tastes nice. Over the Falls offers many options for your dining experience. I think you will be able to find something that tweaks your interest too. We are still new to the Wake Forest and despite being a foodie I don't alwayssssss go into a place and know the exact menu and atmosphere, that's how it was when coming into OTF. My husband and I stopped in for lunch were dressed in athletic clothes which wasn't a big deal but I definitely noticed that the majority of people there were dressed in "real clothes" it is a very dark restaurant with white table clothes which gives it that "nicer" feel for sure. It's not a huge restaurant but I am not a fan of two top tables that are directly next to someone else to where you feel like you know all about the other person by the time you are done which is where we were sat. The Beef on Weck was delicious, I highly recommend. I can't wait to try additional menu items but for me personally inside it's more of a dinner atmosphere. read more

I came expecting more. I waited the 45 minute outside in the parking lot because I thought this would be worth the wait. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great either. It was pretty mid. For the price? I think it wasn't the best investment I've made on a dinner. The menu was a little pedestrian and most of the items are just elevated bar food. The place seems pretty popular. It's loud. The dining room was a combination of couples, couples with children, and people drinking hard. So, I guess they have all your bases covered depending on what you love/hate about a place's ambiance. I wasn't real impressed with the drinks and I wasn't real impressed with the food. I mean my flatbread pizza was fine, but it was pretty on par with a lot of other flatbread pizzas I've had everywhere else. The only Tractor is if they're busy, you have to sit outside there's no waiting room inside of the restaurant which can be problematic if it's raining. They text you when your seat is available if you have to wait outside though. They have infused bourbons and a full bar as well as normal soda and tea. The sandwiches are excellent without too much salt. It does get a bit loud sometimes in here but the weight staff is very attentive and does frequent checks on you. The only reason I didn't get it Five Stars was we had to sit out next-door to them in front of another business while it was raining waiting for a seat inside if they fix that problem that would definitely be five read more

Rude, pompous and disrespectful! as long time supporters of Over the Falls that started as a humble restaurant over the second floor of the Cotton Company we are sad . Been there 2 times recently as a last ditch attempt for a redeeming quality meal. December tried to take my admin staff out for a Christmas luncheon and arrived early with gift bags and small flowers for the table . I wanted to put the gifts at the booth before they arrived which was approximately 5 minutes earlier . I was denied and even though it was empty was not allowed to sit until all arrived . Surprise ruined ! Went tonight with my husband at 3 pm , empty booths , and asked to sit away from the door in a larger booth. Was denied and was told those were for larger parties even though a party of 2 was dining at the same size table I was asking for; we could not sit there and were told they were the owners parents and were special ! Wow , paying customers are not as important? Terrible ! Received 2 salads for $19 each , used be amazing and large , now they scant and disappointing. 1/2 the size and apparently blackened shrimp looks the same as breaded fried shrimp. Sent it back , the manager came to the table and was defensive, loud and rude . After sending the salad back he offered in a condescending tone to add cheese etc to the salad . I declined and asked for him to take it off the bill , he responded he would charge 1/2 the price , I refused and said as a dissatisfied Customer who did not eat the salad I would not be paying for it . I have seen comments about the rising prices and I'm disappointed that the owners are allowing this decline of service and food quality . One of the first places we went to celebrate after signing the contract for the new house. Very pleased with the menu and the service and the bourbon flight was a pleasant surprise although I tend to be a single malt whisky purist. Infusions are not big on my list, but it was a nice change and ideal for the celebration. Enjoyed the food and the service was top notch. Been back there a few times since and its been consistently good. Last was when my daughter came for a visit - being a server herself off and on, she's worked in some highly popular places along the maine coast and she gave this place a thumbs up. Lots of hussle/bustle when we've been there but never had to wait long and service never suffered. read more
