Honestly we came in not really knowing what it was -- we knew we just wanted some good breakfast. It was unsuspecting, and a PLEASANT surprise! The food was delicious. Upon learning it was Dominican-American blend, I had to lean more into the Dominican cuisine. I got the Dominican sandwich and it was IMMENSELY filling and delicious! If I could give less than 1 star I would . We ate breakfast there and 2 hrs later I was feeling horrible . Went to Duke / Raleigh and after 2 hrs of all sorts of test I was diagnosed as Septic. Spent the next 3 days in ICU taking a variety of antibiotics. Drs stated they found feces in my blood system . I remember the steak that I had ordered from this cafe was totally grey in color that I had with my eggs . Haven't been back , will not go back and would encourage anyone to reconsider before going ! read more

We met a friend for a breakfast the other day. The menu had lots of American breakfast favorites along with some Dominican choices. I ordered a standard two egg breakfast with bacon, sausage & potatoes. My only complaint is that the potatoes were very salty. The table across from us ordered some French toast, and I immediately had breakfast envy. My husband ordered the Dominican breakfast and loved the sausages and pan fried cheese. Tasty Dominican-style food at this local spot. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Table service is offered, with about 8 tables inside plus 6 outside on the patio. The menu is varied, with an extensive breakfast menu. We opted for a few sandwiches - a Cuban and a chicken Caesar wrap. Cuban sandwich is good. Mojo pork (pulled) is used instead of deli-sliced, which enhances this sandwich 100%. The meat is juicy and tender and spiced perfectly. Served with the usual ham, mustard, Swiss cheese and dill pickle. It's sloppy but delicious. Chicken Caesar wrap is huge! Big slices of chicken breast with lettuce, tomato caesar dressing and some avocado round it out. I'm excited to go back and try some more of the Dominican specialties. read more

A great place to eat breakfast is Falls River Cafe. They've put money back into the restaurant with new booths inside and the outside eating area since I've been there. The food is very fresh. I got a veggie omelet and hash browns that were perfectly cooked. Fresh, not frozen. Soft inside, crispy on the outside. The vegetables were cut in tiny cubes. They know what they're doing. I've also had their empanadas for breakfast. Best I've had in this area. It would be a nice addition to have a breakfast chorizo empanada. Very friendly staff and a very clean restaurant. read more

Falls River Cafe is a new restaurant in N. Raleigh. It is small with two tables and seven booths. Your order is taken at the table but you pay up front. You can order breakfast, lunch, or dinner all day. The regular breakfast is two eggs and two sides. I asked as it wasn't clear on the menu. I did go here planning to eat breakfast, then saw the lunch menu. Then the waitstaff showed me the dinner menu and Dominican menu so I was overwhelmed with choices. The staff is friendly but the restaurant has a few kinks to work out. In our group of 10, they forgot one person's order and then when it was eventually corrected it wasn't what he had ordered even. Most of the others were done eating by that point. I still had food as I ordered a lot and eat slower. My food was good but not as I had ordered. I don't like onions so I ordered my dish without but it still came with onions. Thankfully I don't mind the flavor of onions and just don't like eating the actual onion and could pick these out from the beef. But my sweet potato fries were soaking up the onion flavor too. They didn't plate this well. they needed to be on the other side of the rice. The beef was good though. I had ordered a cheese empanada and a pork & pineapple one. The two I was brought were a pork one and a pineapple one. I'm not sure what happened to the cheese one or why the pork and pineapple weren't together. These were comped. I'm not sure if the issue was at ordering or in the kitchen. I'd eat here again as I think there is a lot of potential but will wait until they get things figured out. read more

Finally tried this place after our nail appointment next door. Our waitress was extremely helpful and gave us two great recommendations to try. We started off with 2 empanadas and even though both were good the beef was absolutely delicious. It was served with two sauces the green one included jalapeño and cilantro and was my favorite. For our entree we decided on the Dominican Picadera, which is Dominican fried chicken, pork, salami, and sausage. Everything was seasoned very well and although I enjoyed it, I'll be trying the Cuban sandwich next. Just a lil bit too much fried food at one time for myself. I will be coming back ! read more

Always a great experience. I enjoy the Falls River wrap or Cuban sandwich, and the fries which are consistently freshly cooked and hot; my partner favors the empanadas. This was our first time trying this new place. It has American food with a Dominican hint and spices. We like trying new places and had a couple of coupons to use. We arrived at 11:30 which was then too late to use the breakfast coupon and too early to use the dinner coupon. My lunch , sort of a Philly cheesesteak, included a drink and hers which was a regular 2 egg breakfast which included coffee, but she doesn't drink coffee. They wouldn't sub for a drink so she drank water. All in all it was fast and fresh, but lacking in anything to be wowed about. The price for both with tip was just over $20 so very good priced for restaurants now. Will we go back? Very disappointed. My wife and I arrived around 11:15 this morning and were seated outside. The table was covered with ants. After dealing with that issue we ordered breakfast. She had scrambled eggs that were overcooked. I ordered a western omelette which was served with sausage instead of ham ?? and was sitting in a pool of orange grease. This is such a cozy cafe that reminds me of a little hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere. Every time we stop by, we get waited on by the same awesome woman who makes sure to give us menu recommendations and she is just the sweetest! All staff have been friendly and kind. This picture was taken before I tried finding at least some meat, but the spine (?) made it unappetizing and difficult to eat. Kinda grossed out just thinking about it.
