White Story Cafe is on the corner of South White & East Wait Streets, sharing a bright, airy space with The Burger Shop, a separate eatery I will review in coming weeks. (For those of you familiar with the area, another eatery called The Lemon Tree used to occupy this space.) Women-owned, White Story offers fresh takes on standard cafe items - paninis, sandwiches, salad, soups and a variety of breakfast options. (See menu pics for more details and pricing). In the very relaxing ambience with bright and cozy seating, we enjoyed excellent service from Apple, one of the owners. Paul and I both had the Morning Waffle Special: a tender tasty waffle with a deliciously crispy crust, topped with a fresh egg as you like it, crispy smoked bacon and fresh avocado slices - let's just say both our plates were clean! The sweet Thai tea was fresh and paired perfectly with our meals. The hours are varied, check the website (or menu pic) and prepare to enjoy light and refreshing fare in a welcoming space - leisurely catching up with friends over the fresh-baked treats and coffee or noshing with a current read. Great addition to downtown Wake Forest food scene. This spot shares dining space with the Burger Shoppe on S. White St. Order at the counter, the food is served to your table. It's a fairly extensive menu for breakfast. Time from order to service about 10 minutes. Food is good! Tried chicken and waffle. It's a plate-sized waffle, freshly made, topped with breaded chicken. Chicken is tender but a little dry. Nothing that a nice helping of maple syrup didn't fix. Also tried the morning waffle special. This is a waffle, topped with an egg, bacon and avocado slices. Served piping hot, freshly cooked and a sizable portion. Always good to have more quality dining choices in town. I'll be back! read more

Ordered the French toast with a side of bacon and fried potatoes. The French toast was very good, generous with the syrup, which was nice. The bacon was cooked nice and crispy. The fried potatoes were not very good, pretty soft and flavorless. Definitely would order from here again, but would try other entrees and sides. read more

White Story Cafe is located in Downtown Wake Forest. It is located in the historic Wilkerson Building. The renovated building still has the cozy atmosphere and even some historic photos on the walls. Parking is on the street or in a nearby parking lot. White Story Cafe shares the dining area with the Burger Shop. I had not heard about this cafe opening but I happened to read a post on Nextdoor so decided to go check it out as I am always looking for new places to explore. I was immediately greeted when I entered the cafe. They have the menu on the wall behind the counter and actual menus too. They offer breakfast, sandwiches, salads, soups, desserts, coffee and tea. The menu had some photos and my eyes went to the Eggs Benedict so that is what I ordered, which I tend to order often. It came with a choice of Canadian bacon or ham. Then it came with a side of fruit, hashbrowns, grits, or salad. Somehow, I ended up with fruit and hashbrowns. I also ordered a Thai sweet tea. After you order at the counter, you are given a number and a tray. My Thai sweet tea was a little too sweet for me so I will try something else next time. The Eggs Benedict was great though. The eggs were cooked a little longer than I'd like as I prefer runny yolks with the Eggs Benedict. The English muffins were huge, the Canadian bacon generous. The hollandaise sauce was lighter than I had had in the past but still delicious. The cup of fruit was huge. The hash browns were diced. The staff was gracious and kept making sure I had everything I needed. They even brought out all sorts of condiments someone might want. I was looking forward to my next visit before I left and even checked out the menu so maybe I will order something else next time. However, that is hard for me when I find a dish I enjoy. read more

I love this place. Great food! Great staff! Fabulous menu! Healthy drinks!! White Story also does catering !! Recently, my father passed and we wanted to have it catered at Bright Funeral Home. It was close to the holidays. Cherry and Apple , White Street Owners, were very supportive. She supplied an amazing food station with sandwiches, fruit , desserts. She also had a drink station with delicious coffee, tea, cocoa and juice. Our guests raved about it. Very professional!! White Story went the extra mile for us and will for you too!! read more

Came here tonight for the first time and glad I did! I ordered the eggs Benedict with the turkey. Next time I'll try the Canadian bacon. It was just ok- but might be better with the bacon. THE GRITS HOWEVER OMG. Get them with cheese on top. Creamiest best grits I have had at a restaurant in a verrrrry long time. I'll be coming back even if it's just to get the grits. read more

I think I just found my go to breakfast spot in Wake Forest! It's counter service with plenty of tables and even a small counter to find a spot after you order. The menu is breakfast and lunch. We had the avocado toast, plain waffle, a slice of French toast and the simple egg breakfast with coffees and a Thai milk tea. Generous portions and the grits were the creamiest I've had...so good! Coffee was tasty and they came around for refills a few times. Thai Milk Tea was super sweet which would be my only criticism but some people may like it that way. Service was attentive and friendly. They even have some outdoor tables! I'll definitely be back! read more

New family owned business, great salad bar, homemade soups and sandwiches. Salad bar constantly changes and is always fresh and yummy! Asian coconut soup is great - different from standard soups and not so filling that you can't enjoy it with a salad or sandwich. The warm and friendly atmosphere has a quaint feel to it that just goes well along with the good food.

The staff was friendly, but it took an hour for our food to come out. This was on a Sunday at 11pm, but the cashier was turning people away saying they only have 1 stove and couldn't handle too many customers. First time in there with some friends. Service was very friendly, it was clean and the ambiance was cozy. The food was good. Everything was great! My only suggestion is to add a bit more turkey to the sandwiches. I only had a few slices on my turkey sandwich, it had more apple and brie than turkey. Still was delicious.
