The restaurant is very nice and clean inside. The service was slow, we were the only two people in there but a lot of to go orders. Both of us got a boil and to me it was very subpar. There were two different type of shrimp shelled and unshelled. Which gave me the impression that they ran out of shrimp. I asked for more seasoning because it was so bland. Second time spending my money here and the LAST TIME! False advertising on their website where we are required to place pickup(to go) orders. Thursday night fish and shrimp special. Advertised $17.99. I was charged $19.99. After bringing to the cashier's attention she immediately went into defensive mode and advised "I don't know whats online but what you were charges is what it cost!" Mind you I showed her employer's website and she even took my phone to go through the order process on her own! Ma'am, I don't need to lie about $2. I know the economy's bad but I just ordered over $60 worth of food and drinks! I'm good over here! She stood there batting her extended eyelashes and told me there was nothing she could do and kept referring to the online price being correct even though their website shows different. The quickest way to lose my business is to fail to acknowledge a customer's concerns. Dismissive attitudes, and doubling down even with facts presented. I run a company and wouldn't come close to hiring the cashier who I presented this issue. No offer to me to speak to a Manager! Nothing! Just batting her eyelashes and smacking on chewing gum! To add injury to insult, I checked my food and I was missing the extra piece of fish that I paid for. Again, this "cashier' tried lying again by telling me that fish is sold by the pound and only AFTER I presented her with my receipt that she already had access to did she relent and that was ONLY because another lady who was much more customer friendly came from the kitchen to apologize to and confirm that she had neglected to add my other piece of catfish! Again, Ms "Cashier" casually walks off with no apology acknowledgement or anything. Note-this was the SECOND they did this as they 'forgot' to add my extra piece of fish on my order. Mind you the extra fish is $10.75 for CATFISH!!! Seems like a pattern for this business! Bag up the order. Tie it up tightly and hope the customer doesn't check until they're home and by then it's too late to try to return and if you call to report food missing, I'm certain "Ms. Cashier", will just deny and lie, indicating that all the food was in the bag when she's not even the one cooking or bagging it up! Just the money taker! BUYER BEWARE! Needless to say, I got my food and left immediately and sitting in my car fuming writing this feedback! NEVER AGAIN FATBOYS!!!!! I tried! The food and beverages were good. We had wings, a fish platter and a crab boil. The boil was tasty. I also got a strawberry Hennessy which was DEEEEEEEELICIOUS. The sides were good. We got yams, collards and cabbage. Seasoned well. The wings came with seasoned crinkle cut fries. They were good. We got lemon pepper dry rub. The sweet tea was good as well. Now the service. The service was....okay. I hate to say anything bad because I plan to come back, I'll just place my order and do a pick up. We waited at least twenty minutes to get the check, and another fifteen to get our cards back. They have a lot of to go orders, and they seem to take precedence over the in-house orders. Went to FatBoys kitchen today. I spent $104 and the only thing that was actually edible was the wings and the kids meal. The greens were so salty that I spit them out. The ear of corn had been sitting in water and looked old and reheated. The flounder was so salty it wasn't edible. I ordered the gumbo , it had hard pieces of meat in it which looked like brisket but after talking to the manager he said it was chicken. The consistency was so off I have no clue how that could even be chicken. I asked for American cheese on the cheesesteak and they put mozzarella. I spoke with the manager and he was "understanding " but all he offered was a do over. I asked for half of my money back and was told he couldn't do it. We decided to check out something new to us on a beautiful Monday evening. It's about 25 minutes from our house, so we hoped it be good. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot. FatBoys is located in a larger shopping center on New Bern near the Walmart, not far from the intersection of New Hope Rd. The place is very spacious. There's plenty of seating, tables and booths. High tops and regular seating. They have a full bar as well as an extensive menus with sandwiches, platters, burgers, wings and even seafood boils. They also have desserts and kids meals. I ordered the wing and shrimp platter, and it comes with two sides. I chose the collard and the crinkle cut fries. My daughter had the fried whiting platter with string beans and Mac & Cheeses. Oh, and we had cheesesteak egg rolls as our appetizer. You can order by QR code, or with the hostess/server/waitress (she does everything but cook). The service was great and the food came out pretty quickly, and it was hot and fresh. The fried items were fried to a perfect golden brown and fried perfectly. The veggies had a good taste and the Mac & cheese was cheesy. The egg rolls were good, of course there could have been more meat inside, but still tasty. I enjoyed the crinkle fries, and don't normally like them. The sauces were ok. The fat boy sauce is like yum yum sauce but thinner, and the ranch wasn't in house made. The food was pretty good, but the music was great! I jammed the whole time I ate, and even lingered to enjoy the music. I'll definitely go back and try other items on the menu. On my 1st visit I got the breakfast burger it came with bacon and an egg yummy, and it was perfect, I was even asked how I wanted my meat cooked. A good place to get some fried seafood. This place was recommended to me by my mom as it "tasted like home" as she put it. So we had to give it a try. Coming in on a Friday evening there was no line. We stopped by this restaurant on Saturday, July 23, 2022 about an hour after they opened. Staff was friendly and professional. We ordered two chicken Philly combo and hot wings with mac & cheese. We tried to order some of their frozen drinks but apparently they were not yet ready/available. They were still being made/mixed. The food came out in a timely manner. Other than not receiving the correct quantity of wings ordered, and the food in general needing a little more seasoning, all entree was enjoyable. The atmosphere was comfortable. My friend order lemon pepper wings and he ate them like they were great. I'm not a fan of lemon pepper so I didn't try. I was lucky enough to try the Fatboys Kitchen truck when they catered an event. I was thrilled to find out that they had a location over on New Bern Avenue. I'm generally not a fan of most fried seafood in North Carolina. It typically lacks seasoning and is bland, but this is the real deal. They are serving up big, flavorful fried shrimp, hush puppies and incredible southern style mac and cheese. If you are feeling adventurous you can hit up the slushy bar and add a shot to it. I definitely want to come back to try their seafood boils. I've brought several friends and they all agree this is the best fried seafood in Raleigh. Definitely make the trip over there. Never made it to the food truck but finally made it to the restaurant. Everything was nice and clean on the inside. Ordering didn't take long but it took around 30 mins to get our food which is decent. I ordered the hot lemon pepper mix 10 piece wings, mozzarella sticks and a soda which came up to $23.00. The wings were really good and fried correctly. The mozzarella sticks breading however could benefit from a little seasoning. But overall enjoyed my experience and they were playing great music. "This is the best food truck we've gotten so far" was the first comment I heard from one of my co-workers as he was gushing over his breakfast burger. As he lifted the burger and took a bite, I could smell the enticing aroma of grilled flavor. Another item I witnessed on my way out the door to place an order, was the fried shrimp. Very big, very impressive. That co-worker was pleased as well. First thing I saw when I got to the truck (other than all the folks in line) was the 100% sanitation rating. This was looking better and better! Love that they have such a wide variety to choose from! Burgers, Fish & Shrimp, Philly Steak & Chicken, Po Boys, Breakfast sandwiches, Mac & Cheese, Onion Rings, Fries, Collards...the list goes on. My big question and deciding factor was: are the wings breaded? Answer: no! Good answer! I went for 5 wing pieces for $5 and a side of collards for $3. Note: they cook everything to order, so there is a bit of a wait, but I didn't talk to a single person who wasn't pleased with what they got and everyone said it was worth the wait (even in the cold). Everywhere I order wings I always ask for them to be well-done. This has got to be the only time anyone listened to me and prepared them the way I requested. I also have had a lot of sauces with habanero in the description that were surprisingly mild. These are the real thing. The exact opposite of mild. But very very good! The collards were also tasty, with lots of turkey in them. They are still working out some kinks, but great way to support a black-owned business and the wait staff were very friendly/helpful.
