Two people for lunch, both burritos were outstanding! However, the cost was $41 ($16.50/burrito & $3.50/drink) way too much for lunch, with cafeteria style service, just not worth it.
We went to Gym tacos yesterday for lunch and the food was great! They had very large portions and quality meat in the quesadilla. I ordered the asada quesadilla with a side of chips. The quesadilla was really tasty and was such a large portion! The chips also came with a side of queso, which was a nice addition! It only took about 5 minutes to get our food, which was very quick! We really enjoyed Gym Tacos and would come back if we were looking for a quick lunch in Raleigh again!
Wow. I think I have found the perfect taco place! Seriously, these may be the best tacos I have ever had. Had to carnitas tacos and a gringas. So good! It is two food trucks in a gas station parking lot. We saw one family pull up, unload a table and chairs and make a night of it. There is a big parking lot next door, so you could definitely do that to make sure you had a place to eat if the picnic tables are full. Service is fast- but this isn't fast food. It is fresh, delicious, and will be my regular go to. This from a guy who doesn't like to go to the same place twice! Cash only- so take some green backs. Reasonably priced and well worth the indulgence.
Foodtrucks are suprisingly so common in Raleigh, especially at gas station. Suadero taco is pretty good. The meat is sliced up a little bigger than usual I think but still have that softness and great seasoning. Gringa is delicious as well! Al pastor with chipotle mayo, cheese, onion, and cilantro. They do a have brick and motar place but this is the foodtruck location
Gym Tacos was one of the first spots I went to when I moved to Raleigh. Since then, I've probably been back for every month or two. I've made my way around the menu, and of course the tacos are great, but my favorites are the gringas (loaded small-ish quesadillas with a smoky sauce and pork al pastor) and the torta (the bread is so good, I usually go with asada). If you're getting tacos, try the suadero (cubed beef brisket), al pastor or chorizo. Make sure to order 4+ so you get all the fixins. Don't forget to ask for sauce cups, they're all great, but definitely try the orange peanut sauce if you can handle heat. Proceed with caution around the dark red sauce! Make sure to bring cash, and work out at the Gym
Located off to the side in a Valero parking lot, it's hard to miss the Gym Tacos with its bright orange food truck. When we stepped out the car, we were immediately greeted by a classic Ludacris song followed by more early 2000s R&B music blasting from their speaker - I was immediately digging the vibes here! We came by on a Monday afternoon and they were relatively busy! We ordered a carne asada burrito ($10), 2 lengua tacos ($3 each), 2 pastor tacos ($2.50 each), and 2 cabeza tacos ($3 each). We didn't see drinks on their menu so we walked over to the Valero storefront to pick up soda instead, which was quite convenient. The service was quick and friendly! We waited about 10-15 minutes for the food. As someone born and raised in San Diego, CA, I've had my fair share of really good to mediocre Mexican food. A good indicator of a place that serves great tacos is their sauces and the color of the sauces. The moment I saw the array of bottles with different sauces, I knew Gym Tacos was legit. The ones that caught my attention were the cilantro-lime green and the creamy orange as they reminded me of a fantastic Mexican food place in San Diego that serves similar ones. It's safe to say my pre-judgments were right! Everything was great!! The cabeza and pastor tacos were good, but the lengua tacos were even better! The lengua tacos were soft, rich, and juicy. The carne asada burrito was super solid as the meat was seasoned well and the rest of the ingredients complemented each other well. My only gripe is that I wish the tortillas were on the stove a few moments longer to give it a slightly less raw flour-y taste and a tad less soft. My final thoughts: Gym Tacos is definitely doing North Carolina right with their food! Highly recommend checking them out!
Gym Tacos!!! Where have you been all my life?!? Between your tacos and salsa I've been in Heaven since 6pm!! I ordered the gym taco, el pastor, and beef taco to go from your truck on my way to Fayetteville and I am so glad that I did. I decided to try the gym taco which came with shrimp topped with an avocado salsa that was cold, but spicy and just amazing! I decided to save the other two tacos for home and warmed them up. Oh wow! Even warmed and reheated they were delicious! I paired it with a little bit of red wine and you mix of salsas that just hit the spot. I plan to finish the rest of your salsas with some chips! I can't wait to visit the Gym tacos truck again as the food was amazing and so was the service!! The staff was happy to help and point out resources that would help with their cash only policy. I was able to get my order started without having to pay the cash, which was so nice! It made me see that they trusted me and it was a comfort feeling! I will for sure be back!
It was a busy spot in the Valero gas station for tacos. There are more parking in the back if you get overwhelmed with how many cars are on the small gas station lot. This place was taking phone orders and in person orders at the same time. It was a notably very busy dinner time. If you see more than handful of people standing around, expect a bit of wait. I've also noticed that few of their menu increased in price by $0.50. And the vendor only takes cash as payment. Something to note before you head on over. The gym tacos were fine but could have done better with more flavor in the sauce. The carnitas meat was quite salty yet still tasty. Also taking into account that I didn't get to open my tacos till 30-minute later, the asada meat were really dry. I'm going to give it another try and hopefully find that it was my long commute that was the problem. The sauces were flavorful and spicy just the way I like them.
After trying to get a table at three different restaurants we stumbled across Gym Tacos. It was the best thing that could have happened. A small unassuming building with counter service, four top tables inside and picnic tables outside. The menu has many options including tacos, tostadas, and burritos with a variety of proteins. The food was fresh and delicious. The steak and pork was very tender. We also had chips and queso. The queso was packed with flavor. Next time we are in Raleigh we will be back.
I think this may become one of our favorite quick dinner taco places in Raleigh. The food here is fresh and delicious. The service was also quick even though they were slammed last Friday when we went. The place was well staffed with servers, bar tenders and kitchen staff, which is good to see. We had two teenagers with us and they wanted the Tower Nachos. They bring it to the table in a metal cylinder, which is on a plate. They remove it and the chips remain plied high with queso, beans, pico de gallo , lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and peppers. The nachos didn't stand a chance; they devoured them like two vacuum cleaners. I was able to sample a small plate. Again, the ingredients were fresh and the chips were not overly salty which I prefer. I went with the surf and turf burrito. The burrito was stuffed with marinated flank steak, guacamole, pico de gallo, cheese, refried beans, spring mix and lettuce. It was awesome and filling. The teens went with a steak and chicken quesadilla. Again, the dishes were devoured. My burrito was really tasty and all of the ingredients went well together. My wife went with the steak and chorizo tacos, which she enjoyed very much. I forgot to mention that I had their Top Shelf Margarita. What was great about it that it wasn't sugary at all. I know many places use a margarita mix which can be overly tangy and sweet which is a turn off for me. This one had a really nice balance and taste to it. You could actually taste the tequila in this one. Its a little pricy at $14 but, I'm a "one and done guy" nowadays. I give this place a 4.25 in terms of stars. This place suits the bill for a quick dinner where the food is tasty, its moderately priced and the venue is clean and bright. Definitely check them out.
Honnnnney, 10/10. I peeped them cooking and if they were tryna impressed me, job well done. The best burrito. It was huge and so filling. I was able to have for two meals. My total was about $18. It's in a gas station parking lot about the wait wasn't long maybe 15-20 minutes and we had 2-3 people ahead of us. Perfect for after our concert at the ritz. The owners were nice and they had a PA system so you can hear your order too. read more

I'm super sad to be writing this review update. This was once our favorite taco spot & ate here 2x a week. In the past several months Every time we have visited we have been disappointed. Why?: Quality: During our last several visits, their meat (mainly chicken) has been lacking flavor. I have had to add my own salt. My boyfriend agrees that the flavor isn't what it used to be. They have been out of shrimp and lengua for over a month (used to love the gym taco). The sauces are inconsistent and are either extremely spicy and flavorful OR lacking flavor. Also, the self serve sauce station feels gross considering we're still in a pandemic and their containers are touched by every single person who orders. Now that I said it out loud, ewww. Quantity:The amount of meat has been cut in half but prices increased. I agree that their prices deserved a bump initially, but now the value is not there. Service: They are ALWAYS late. You will wait 30-60 mins past their scheduled open time because they are late and then you will wait in a long line to order. As they set up, there is no urgency and the staff is socializing, smoking & drinking energy drinks at their leisure. Waiting in the summer heat for an hour, in a gross/smelly gas station parking-lot is enough to make you lose your appetite. If the quality was still great, I wouldn't complain... but it's not. I really hope that my next review will be more positive, but I don't think I will be returning for awhile. read more

The Surf n Turf burrito had carne asada and shrimp. It was the size of a baby chihuahua! It was very filling and a good price of $15. The taste was good. I'm a bit picky since I am from Vegas and we have really good Mexican food and I am Mexican so my standards are high. It was flavorful but something was missing. I couldn't put my finger on it. It didn't take from the burrito though because to most it would be perfect. read more
This bright orange food truck parked on Six Forks Road caught my eye but it was the Yelp reviews that brought me in for a meal. Located in a busy gas station, Gym Tacos definitely has its fans and regulars. I popped in about 11:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and there was a short line. A small wood sign in the shape of NC lists the meats/proteins available on the menu and order up! Tacos are $2.50 and quesadillas at $10 but I had to guess based upon some customers in front of me, prices would be nice on the menu. Service is pretty quick, they work really hard in that truck and I got some barbacoa tacos in double-wrapped tortillas. A couple of squeeze dispensers offer up some hot sauce choices and its time to eat! The meat in the tacos are well-seasoned and plentiful. Overall a good option for tacos except for one small thing. Chido Taco has opened up right down the road and offers up tacos at the same price but with seating and a dining room. Otherwise Gym Taco is an excellent choice to get your Mexican eats on! read more
In the area and of course saved my appetite for tacos! Cash only!! The truck was 1 hour late but we waited. Ordered carne asada, chorizo and al pastor tacos. Can't wait for the restaurant to open- they are finalizing permits. If you are thinking of trying this food truck- I encourage you to make a trip to Raleigh. read more

Moving from California, I was hesitant to try Mexican food in Raleigh. I wanted to leave my perfect perception of it untarnished and avoided it for months. When the craving eventually hit, I tried somewhere else and, as expected, was disappointed. But I did not give up hope! Yelp told me that Gym Tacos might be what I was looking for and I put it on my list. When I was in the area one day, I gave it a shot and boy am I glad I did. These tacos are incredible. As is the burrito. I ordered a chicken, carnitas, and pastor taco. The pastor was easily the best, perfectly complimented by little strips of pineapple, but they were all good. They have four different self-serve sauces on the side which, if I'm being honest, is not the most COVID friendly since you have to dig through all the sauce cups yourself, grab and squeeze the bottle yourself, then cap your sauce cup with a lid that was likely touched by someone else. But they taste good... The creamier looking green sauce was our favorite - perhaps it was a sort of avocado crema but I can't be sure. They all have varying levels of spice and are worth a try. My husband got the asada burrito and it was amazing. Dare I say better than the tacos? The cheese and flavors all melded together into the perfect mixing pot of burrito goodness. Knowing that tacos are not the only thing good here makes me crave coming back here to try the rest of the menu. I will definitely be back here ASAP. The pastor tacos were killer and the burrito was also the bomb. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I cannot wait to have more of this divine food. read more
At this point, I feel like EVERYONE knows about Gym Tacos and I have yet to meet a person who does not like them. I haven't been more than a few times but it's always been great. Busy, but great! I love their Gym and pastor tacos and the torta with steak (any torta, honestly). All of the sauces are a must try too- although, I will say that the way that the biz has them sitting out for people to pour/serve themselves does worry me a little due to COVID-19. Stopping by for dinner to get takeout can be a task, even during the pandemic. The trucks are located in a gas station parking lot and it's not very big so parking is stressful. Arriving early is probably your best best. A storefront is coming soon, or so I've heard, and I'm so excited to see the day! Bottom line, I'd give them a try if you haven't yet! read more

The 5 stars are legit. Everything is beyond tasty. Fresh. The sauces are SPICY. We ordered a variety of tacos and a burrito! The chicken was fresh, grilled and the corn tacos are homemade. Portions are a little on the small size so order more than you think. It's in a gas station parking lot which is odd but there are picnic tables and drinks to purchase at the gas station attendant. read more
Gym Tacos has the best tacos in Raleigh! And I don't say that lightly since there is some intense competition nearby (El Rey del Taco, bartaco, Chido Taco) but Gym Taco wins out! Also impressive since they are located as a truck in the Valero gas station off Six Forks Road. I'm in biking distance off the greenway so I usually come here every 2 weeks or so for a meal. I haven't had anything other than the tacos but all of the ones that I've tried have been amazing, especially the "Gym Taco" which is a shrimp taco! They have different toppings that they put on each type of taco. I'm sure you could specify but there really isn't a need to since the toppings go great with the type of meat you order (note that there are sometimes additional toppings that are hidden at the bottom of the to-go boxes under the lime slices like onions!) It's cash only so be prepared for that, and if you go during a normal lunch/dinner hour, be prepared for a potentially long line/wait (though they work pretty fast to get your order out) I will note that there are sauces in bottles in front of the truck that are self-serve so depending on how cautious you are with COVID and shared surfaces, you may or may not want to partake in that. Though I will say the tacos taste great with or without the sauces. read more
This place showed on my suggestion so I decided to try it, they are not the best tacos that i have tried but they are not bad, I ordered one taco al pastor and I didn't like it that i just got a piece of pineapple on top of the taco that's not how tacos al pastor are made but the meat was tasty. Gringas are good and borrachitas are tasty as well. I will come back for sure. read more
When to the food truck rodeo and was so happy to see their truck there. We have been wanted to try for a long time!! We tried the gym taco with shrimp and it was amazing! The shrimp was hot, the avocado sauce was fresh and just the right amount of pico. They had 4 sauces but no names on them. All where great and one was a peanut based that was extra spicy. Only down side is no flour tortilla which my sister wanted but she liked the corn tortilla anyway. read more

I haven't had anything bad here. Only down side is this truck gets really busy and you can have a long wait standing in the middle of a gas station parking lot. Also, they only take cash. Bring some with you or pay $3 to get some out at the ATM there. Top recommendation... Gym Taco Surf and Turf burrito Carnitas on pretty much anything. Need to update this. Their burrito is the best burrito I've ever had. By far.... like that first time you have homemade ice cream and you realize that breyers isn't that good. It's like that, except with a burrito. It's seriously amazing. The chorizo and the asada stand out as the best to me. But seriously, if you have gone here and few time and only got the tacos... you're missing out. The burrito is where it's at. read more

5 Stars all the way! Best Taco Truck (tacos in general) in town. 10+ years in Raleigh and this is the first time I'm 100% satisfied with tacos and my new favorite BORRACHITAS (take this from a Mexican himself). Also the salsas are (4 levels to try out). Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Only downside is CASH ONLY but there's an ATM near and a new physical location opens soon so that'll be solved. Be ready to wait a bit (worth the wait or call ahead) if you order at the truck - it's a full experience so definitely do it once. There's an open parking lot to the side of the truck - my friends and I bring a small table and chairs and it's a whole vibe y'all. Drinks are purchased at the kiosk next to the truck. read more
