I've never noticed this establishment. On a day of exploring while on this side of town, I got hungry. The staff here is nice and professional. The restaurant is clean. I ordered a chicken barbecue sandwich and a side salad. Not much to brag about here. It was chopped chicken with barbecue sauce. I was expecting a chopped vinegar-based barbecue like I'm used to down south as a Southerner. It was good, but I wasn't wowed. The salad was fresh and met my expectation. First visit in some time and the first after the restaurant can operate at full capacity. I went at lunchtime soon after it opened. The counter person was polite and attentive. A sign on the wall offered a Hot Dog Basket as a limited-time offer, so I chose that. The hot dog was topped with slaw and barbecue. This was a wonderful and slightly messy, delicious choice! I used to come to Shane's all the time when I lived closer but I was in the area and decided to give it another run I wasn't really happy this time. I looked at the website before I came because I wanted to order the lunch tenders and when I got there a little after 3 I was told it was too late to order but it did not indicate what time we could order it anywhere on the menu. Then after just getting the regular tenders when they came out they were so small looks like a kids tender meal. And they barely gave me fries I remember they used to give a lot more and the tenders were bigger. The customer service was just fine though. read more

Man. I hate this. Really do. So this used to be the go to spot for good chicken strips and ribs Ribs still good. Chicken still good. But the quantity has gone downhill. Badly. The new chicken strips are literally 1/3 to 1/4 the size of previous strips. Prices charged do not reflect the half size portions you now receive. The last time I got a 4 strip plate , two of them were two bites each. I have literally gotten chicken nuggets from chick fil a that are as big as Shane's strips are now. Also prices on menu board are nowhere near what register is charging and if you bring that fact up all you get is a dead eye stare form that weeks employee behind the counter. Price on board says $7.69. Register rings up $8.89. For half what you used to get. Sadly ...won't be back. read more

I frequent this location often but today was the worst service. I ordered the BBQ family pack which should've had 1.5lbs of BBQ. It did not. So when I called back to the restaurant they said I would need to bring the entire meal back. I told them I was not coming back and manager said he would not issue a store credit. I didn't even ask for my money back. This was the worst interaction from I business I have received. I will be not be back. Have them measure/weigh your food before you leave. We noticed this place a while back when we visited Coldstone, next door to it. They were advertising the sale of Blue Line shirts, which is in support of police. It is rare to see any businesses openly police nowadays and that surprised us (in a good way). Employee stated they donate proceeds of shirt sales to police and military (I guess they sell military support shirts as well). We very much appreciated this message and promised ourselves we would be back to try the food. Skip to today. Not busy (it wasn't busy before either). Not loud - normal level music and tvs with very low volume. Awesome food! Got the half rack of ribs with mac 'n cheese and sweet potatoes fries. Ribs were amazing! Sweet potatoes fries were bangin! I cannot praise them enough. Hubs got the Shaniac burger (slaw, pulled pork, beef patty, pickles, bbq sauce). He loved it, said it was a lot more filling than it looked. Slaw was liquidy but tasty. Was not impressed with the mac 'n cheese - average, nothing to write home about. Same with the peach cobbler - ok, not great (Hubs said should be sweeter and less mushy). Clearly their strength is the main dishes. They were still selling Blue Line Shirts with their own restaurant info on them as well (nice promo for them I guess). They also sell their own BBQ sauces. Four stars for the ribs! Three for the BBQ Pork. Two for the sides. One for the tea! First and only experience so far was a weeknight. Husband had been before and wanted the Smoked Chicken Salad, which he really liked again. He likes the smoky flavor of the chicken which is coated in mayo and served on buttered Texas Toast. If all that wasn't bad enough for him, he got fries to go with it. Bad for him or not, he did like it! Then again, I sure as heck couldn't say anything about his lack of healthy eating when I got the Pick 2 with ribs, bbq pork, mac n cheese and green beans, with a slice of Texas Toast. You pay at the counter, get a number on a skewer, get your own drink, then sit down and wait. They have booths and tables. We chose a booth. Warning: maybe the worst tea I've ever tried! I'm an unsweetened tea gal, but appreciate a little added flavor (usually lemon). When I spotted peach tea, I added a few squirts to my unsweetened tea. YUCK. It was beyond sweet. I couldn't drink it. Poured it out, got plain unsweetened tea and that was mildly yuck. Food: Took awhile...this is definitely not fast food! It's also a LOT of food, and let's face it, beyond unhealthy. This style of cooking is for veggie-haters. Broad Green Beans are cooked to death in a greasy broth until they have no flavor. TIP: Add some of their cayenne sauce to make it edible). Mac and Cheese is tasteless mush. TIP: Add some of their mustard bbq sauce...it makes it edible!) Saving grace: the RIBS...meaty, smoky...finger-lickin' good! BBQ Pork...plentiful, not too fatty...better with added sauce. Sauces: Love the CHOICES! Spicy one was not spicy though. Faves for me were the mustard one and the honey bbq. Even the cayenne sauce was not spicy. Quantity: Large! I've always been a fan of Shane's Rib Shack. I was surprised to find one in Raleigh, NC! It was a further north for me but I didn't mind the drive. The food was consistent like the other locations that I'm used to (Greensboro, NC). I ordered the full-rack of ribs. It came with 2 large sides. It was enough to feed 2-3 people. The mac-n-cheese was on point. The potato salad was on the sweeter side and was just as delicious! I love the variety of bbq sauces that Shane's Rib Shack offers, it goes well with the meal. Came in for takeout last night. This restaurant is impeccably clean and sterile and I have no concerns about ordering food here during the pandemic. Employees are constantly cleaning and disinfecting so the lobby is spotless and there are thermometers to take employee temperatures. There is a drink machine in the lobby but employees are the only ones allowed to fill cups and everyone is wearing masks and gloves. Our party of 4 ordered boneless barbecue chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, baked beans, green beans, Texas toast, and peach cobbler. I liked the baked beans and and the green beans. The sauce on the baked beans is sweet and they are cooked well; firm and not overdone. The green beans are tender and flavorful (cooked Southern style). I did not like the peach cobbler or the collard greens. The peach cobbler is very thick and bready and it is more bread than peaches. I had to search through it to find the fruit. The collard greens were cooked down to tiny pieces and they were in a slimy liquid. I didn't try the chicken or the mac and cheese. This is primarily a meat restaurant so if you are a vegetarian like me then you may have a hard time finding something here but all of the meat eaters in my party loved it. They all rave about the barbecue and the burgers so this is a big thumbs up for meat eaters and a thumbs down for vegetarians. read more

He is pleasant, and so very helpful. We eat at different Shane's when we travel and this one is the best; it is also our go to Restaurant when we want consistent cooking. The Ribs are my favorite, but I can always count on the wings to be just as delicious. We usually eat at Johnny's location here once to twice a week, it is that good! I saw some reviews that said the wait was terrible, but we got our food pretty fast. My husband got the half rack of ribs and I got the sample with ribs, pulled pork, and fried chicken tenders. I got fired okra and sweet potato fries as sides and my husband go sweet potato fries and mac & cheese. They nailed the fried okra, and sweet potato fries! The chicken tenders had really good flavor but they were dry. The pulled pork was also good, but the ribs were definitely the best of the 3 meats. Tender enough to fall of the bone with a good bbq flavor. My husband is a big ribs fan and he really enjoyed it. read more

This has been bookmarked for a while so I finally tried it yesterday. The actual layout is a bit odd to me as the back door seems to make it easier to access the restaurant than the front but whatever works. It has a chain feel with a counter ordering system. You can either wait for your to-go order or they'll bring your order to your chosen table. I dined in and ordered the sampler. I chose the ribs, pulled pork and grilled chicken tenders. For sides, I got baked beans and fries. I didn't realize this also came with a slice of Texas toast. The not-so great: the fries (hard, old and overcooked), the toast (forgettable and thin) and the chicken tenders. I should've known not to get them grilled when the person at the register automatically put them in as fried until I requested the change. They were overcooked, dry and a bit rubbery. The good: the pulled pork (had good flavor), the baked beans (also good flavor - but weren't the best beans I've ever had) and the ribs. Now...I love a good rib that can be both tender and have slight resistance with the meat pulling from the bone. These hit the mark. They were the best things in that sampler with a great smoky flavor and just enough meat. They actually saved the sampler from just being mediocre. Well...that and the portion size. This was enough for two people or, definitely, multiple meals for one. If I go back, it'll just be for the ribs. read more

As I was having a conversation about ribs I had a craving. I wanted to try someplace new that I hadn't been to before, or at least go somewhere that I knew had smack yo' mama good ribs. After a toss up between The Pit, & Chili's, I decided to go to Shane's. It was totally left field. First parking can be a nightmare in this location, unless you feel like a little walk. Not far anyway, just park at Babies R Us. This is not a normal restaurant with waiter service, but more of a fast casual style restaurant. You walk up to the register to place your order, then when ready, they bring it out to your table. Then again Hardees does that too. Well, the cashier was extremely nice and helpful with plenty of menu suggestions. She suggested the 2 meat combo so I could get ribs, and 1/2 chicken. With the food, I think the cashier is young, and just does not know what good food is with the yes, this is all great recommendations. Let me start with the ribs. They had no flavor. Sure, I could have added tons of sauce to the meat, but I didn't go to taste BBQ covered tasteless meat, I went to taste ribs. On a 1-10 flavor scale, I give them a 2. They were tender, juicy and fall of the bone, but lacked flavor. For the 1/2 chicken, it was smoked almost done, and very juicy. It had a little bit of flavor to it, more than the ribs. They add minimal seasoning to the meat before smoking it seems. Sometimes less is more, but not in this case. I would give them a 5 our of 1-10 on the flavor scale. For sides I had a salad. Yes, I did add salad dressing because salad is bland, and you add the dressing to cover up the bland taste. But the salad was not even cold. The worst part is that they ran out of bowls, so they poorly ripped take out containers in half, and served the salads in that. The presentation was low budget. Also I had a potato salad. The out of the container potato salad was the most enjoyable thing I ate, and it was not even that great. Most rib/BBQ places give you hush puppies with your meal, but not Shane's. I was told that I could get hush puppies, or a side. How cheap is that. Eating here tonight was an experience. An experience like hitting your pinky toe on the coffee table. You might do it again, but that doesn't mean you really want to. read more
