Well, for one, my server was rude. I asked for water with no ice, and I heard her mock my request to another waitress. Second, I got the combination, pulled pork and ribs platter. The ribs were good, but the pulled pork had TOO much vinegar in it. You could distinctly taste it - mind you, this is with no barbecue sauce on the pulled pork whatsoever. Their barbecue sauce was way too vinegary as well. The boiled cabbage was as expected but the potato salad had soooooooooo much sugar in it, once again, you could tell, clearly unnecessary. After 33 years of business in a small little building, the place was quaint. Limited seating, but at least it was uncomfortable. Sadly, due to the rudeness and high vinegar content, of everything, I will not be going back.

I have come here several times and always had good, fast service and great food. A family run business. This is a very small diner so it's best to come at a non traditional time. They have a few tables and some stools at the counter. Decor is all pigs! Even in the clean bathroom! They have pork and chicken bbq but have other offerings too. A daily special every day during the week except Wednesday. Monday special is the meatloaf with 2 sides. I just about fell off the stool when she sat the plate down. A huge piece of meatloaf! This will be 3 meals for me!!! It was very good, as were the green beans and mashed potatoes. Even if you don't like hush puppies, try these. They are delicious and come to you even before you order. Sweet tea is fresh and reasonably priced. They have homemade desserts too! This will be a regular stop for me since I just moved closer.

Awesome food, great service, terrific value. What's not to love?? We loved the BBQ chicken, baked beans, hush puppies and bbq pork. The staff was super friendly and accomodating. We'll be back!

Fabulous staff, friendly, very welcoming. 10 out of 10. The food 10 out of 10, place reminds me of a type of restaurant on DRIVE INNS, DINNERS AND DIVES YUMMMMM

Banana pudding (best thing on the menu in my opinion)

Came here with friends and love it! We got food to go, I ordered a chicken pastry, one of my friends had bbq ribs and the other had bbq. The cole slaw was 1/2 vinegar and mayo based, the Brunswick stew was 5/5 in my opinion. The only thing that threw us off is it didn't come with any bbq sauce , (BYOB? -bring your own bbq?) I'm sure we had to ask for it but we didn't think to ask for it at the time, so unfortunately it could've made the experience better for us. Cute, little place, we paid $45 for everything pictured.

This has some good BBQ. I was at Wakefield park for the TST soccer tournament. It's right by the soccer fields. We love Ole times pork bbq plater. The fried okra is so good! Check this place out. The girls working are great!

First, everyone working here is ridiculously nice and friendly!!! I'm visiting from Seattle and originally from NY so this type of hospitality is hard to come by these days. It's a very quaint and cozy diner style restaurant. Some booths and a small bar with stool seating. I was here for eastern style NC BBQ, chopped pork! I had the pork plate with mac and cheese and beans. The beans were AMAZING!! Mac was nice and creamy. For me, the vinegar based pork was good but I believe I'm more of a sweet sauce bbq guy, that being said the meat was juicy and delicious. And all meals come with a side of hush puppies that were hot and fresh, sweet and cake like, loved them. I'd highly recommend stopping in if you're in town, jealous of the locals who get to eat here all the time!

We were looking for a good place to eat while visiting the area and decided on Ole Time Barbecue. We pulled into the parking lot and realized just how small of a place it is. We stepped inside and were immediately greeted by a woman with menus. We took a seat at a booth and she took our drink orders and brought us a complimentary basket of hush puppies. We looked over the menu and my wife decided to order the 1/4 fried chicken with green beans and coleslaw. I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich plate with green beans and mac-n-cheese. As we waited for our food my wife used the restroom and commented on how clean the little place was. It is decorated simply and appears to be well taken care of. Our food arrived and looked yummy. I tried the barbecue sauce but found it to vinegary for my taste. My wife tried their hot sauce and thought it was good. Our opinions on the food: The fried chicken was crispy on the outside but lacked flavor and was a bit dry. The green beans while cooked with bacon, which we love, but also lacked flavor. The coleslaw was very good. The chopped pork sandwich was just okay because I couldn't find a sauce I liked. The Mac-n-cheese was also just okay. The service was great but this just isn't a barbecue stop that we loved.

    Is it pet friendly?

I would say no. I've never seen any pets in there, and the place is tiny, so there would not be room to bring pets in either.

I took a seat at the outdoor bar and started with some smoked wings. 5 whole wings, so really 10 wings at most places. Meat was juicy enough, maybe I was hoping for more of a dry rub though. I used the tangy BBQ sauce and sweet BBQ sauce on them, and they certainly enhanced the flavor. I usually like mustard based sauces, but theirs was little more peppery than I wanted Then, per the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the brisket melt sandwich, and it was the undisputed highlight of the meal Muenster cheese, thinly sliced white onion, pickle chips, and a good load of horseradish sauce. The brisket had an amazing flavor, and all the other toppings came together beautifully. But that Union bakery bun is just another level. It's like brioche, it was so soft, but somehow a little more substantial. For my side dish, I went with the sweet potatoes with goat cheese, pepitas, and agave. This was just ok. For me, the potatoes could have been cooked longer, a little more crispness would have really helped. I did think the goat cheese was a unique flavor with a milder ingredient like a sweet potato, but it did work with the other ingredients pretty well. Only one unisex bathroom and it's small, so be warned!

"Chain vs boutique"…read more I especially enjoy City Barbecue because it is delicious, unpretentious, easy parking, and the kid's meals are great! On this particular gathering, a group of 10 selected this location. No issues with seating. Similar to other bbq lodges, it's first come first serve and bench(?) moveable seating. Customer service was first rate and terrific! A solid, solid bbq option. I polled my family and other guest and everyone agreed it was absolutely delicious. Opinions: We thought the collards were a bit vinegary/sour (not an issue for me) coleslaw was coleslaw - perhaps a tad bit less sweet than at some establishments. Hush puppies sweet, light, and airy. Ribs: similar to homemade Pulled Pork: solid - delicious Sauces: Eastern NC (swine wine), BBQ, Hot BBQ, many others Overall: a delicious option. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist.
