I frequent the Apex area for work and found myself close to New China Chef, so I thought I'd give this place a try. Whenever I go a Chinese place for the first time, I get Hunan Chicken (extra spicy), white rice, and a shrimp egg roll. Hard meal to mess up, but many have so I get something simple. I'll tell you; this place knows Hunan Chicken!! It was cooked beautifully! The chicken was tender and bursting with flavor and heat! They actually the special request box! The rice was fluffy and absorbed that spicy sauce very well. The shrimp egg roll was like a flavor bomb in my mouth. So good! Usually I get hot sauce to add because even though I request extra spicy, it rarely happens. The hot sauce at New China Chef is not the cheap stuff with the Red 40 dye in it; it's actually some oil with red pepper flakes. Visited here for the first time a few weeks ago and dined in. I appreciated the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. Staff was nice also. The food was steaming hot and we were given very solid portion sizes. We left the restaurant full with leftovers for later. Found this place online--close to my brother's residence. The lady that took our order over the phone (I think she was the owner) was very patient and kind. When I arrived to pick up order, I found the place very clean and inviting. The lady was very gracious and made me feel like a welcome guest. The food was already all prepared (very fast service). Though it was a large order we found everything was perfect--no errors and nothing missing (nowadays that is a huge plus with restaurant service). Per the recommendation of other yelpers, I ordered the pint size hot and sour soup and it is, as described, delicious and well balanced. Orders were chicken and broccoli as well as beef with chinese vegetable combos. Food was prepared quickly, prices were fair, portions were average, and dishes tasted great. We've been frequenting Mezza Luna lately and noticed this place a couple doors down. Figured we'd give them a try. I saw another review raving about the Hot & Sour Soup so I figured we'd start there. It's really good. Nice overall flavor and fantastic ingredients. It's near perfect with the fried wanton strips. Steamed Dumpling are a favorite for us so we went there next. I liked that the wrappers had some body to them. Nice overall balance and flavor. The sauce is tasty. I went with General Tsao Chicken. Not very authentic but it's always been a favorite. There wasn't much heat and the meat was sparse but it was tasty. A solid meal and good value for the money. We'll definitely go back. read more

Probably the best Chinese take out options in the area. The BBQ boneless spare ribs are great, the wonton soup is so flavorful and the crispy noodles that come with it are super good. After multiple positive reviews on Yelp, I decided to try out this food for my family. We were too lazy to cook our own for "Chinese New Years" and had to have chinese food, so this was the closest we could find for it. We ordered from the 'combo' meals. 1st meal was an order of Chicken & Broccoli over rice. The meal was very plentiful and packed in nicely. Compared to other places we've tried, there was plenty of both broccoli as well as the chicken. The sauces didn't over take the meal, which was good too. 2nd meal was an order for General Tso's Chicken over rice. The amount of meat that we received was much larger than what we've seen from this meal in the past. The chicken was cooked well (not overly fried) and had a good coating of sauce (could have been a little spicier, but still a good medium strength) 3rd meal - beef chow fun - which is beef with chinese fat noodles with scallions. This was a great dish, as we typically make it and the kids love it. was great to see that they devoured this dish rather quickly. (was a little greasy, but still was devoured). 4th - large quart of wonton soup. The soup contained a lot of wontons, compared to other places. These were very good, and didn't taste like they were 'manufactured', but rather like they were more homemade. If you check in here on YELP, you will also get a 10% off coupon to use for your take out order. (unfortunately, i didn't realize that until after i paid). If you have used that before, then look online. they do run specials too, and I noticed that they had a $3 off purchases of $20 or more, and $6 off purchases of $35 or more. (3off & 6off are the codes). The staff was quite friendly too. Didn't rush me to order, and didn't seem impatient either. If I had to recommended one item from this place that you must get when you come here, it has to be their hot and sour soup. Best hot and sour soup in the triangle and I've had a lot! I find myself constantly coming back here very often for more. The pint size is 3 bucks and their quart size is 5 bucks. Their entrée dishes are good too. Combo meals are around 8 bucks. I've had their moo goo gai pan and black pepper chicken combos. Both very tasty and you can substitute their egg roll for soup for an extra $1.50. Overall, very good chinese takeout joint. read more

This place has some very tasty food. Today we had the chicken wings and they had great flavor and seasoning which is sometimes hard to find. They were crisply fried and piping hot. We've also had their shrimp egg rolls and their shrimp and broccoli. Both of which were also tasty and freshly prepared.
