Came here the other day for take out when I was in the area. The food took about 10 minutes to be ready, and it was piping hot so it felt cooked to order. Service was kind and the inside of the restaurant seemed spacious although a little outdated. I got the General Tso's Chicken combination plate with pork fried rice and it was delicious! The sauce on the chicken was amazing, the rice was very good, and they did not skimp on the meat serving size. The price was also very reasonable ($10.29). The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because my friend got the fried chicken combination plate with pork fried rice, and the fried chicken pieces looked small and my friend who has a shellfish allergy said they tasted like they might have been cooked with/near shellfish. Overall: great prices for great food, I probably wouldn't recommend the fried chicken wing plate but the dish I had was great (and if you have a shellfish allergy let the staff know!) read more

Rough around the edges, but it does the job. They are extremely popular with all the various delivery app services so if you order from here on a Friday or Saturday at peak times, be ready to wait. I had the general tso chicken with pork fried rice and egg roll. The chicken was great. Great portion, had crunch and good quality meat overall. The yellow fried rice is not what I am accustomed to coming from Northeast Chinatown style Chinese. Lack flavor and was not the best. If you're pork fried rice person, I'd suggest subing for something else. Egg roll was awesome. Chicken Lo Mein was good. I'd order it again. Way better than the fried rice. I am not crazy about rice so I wanted to substitute rice for lo mein. They said that is not a problem but they did say that they cannot do half and half. I don't understand why, do a little rice and a little mein, done. Both are starch fillers. Being exposed to the food industry and catering I know that is a low cost item and both almost equal. I also ordered a soda. The total came to over $14. They charged me $1 for substitution. I don't understand that. The customer service was lacking. The kitchen process is the same. Second time called in for delivery with an outside service, I call to edit/add on and every time this same guy answers the phone with a terrible attitude and cuts me off then hangs up the phone on me. We get food from here every month. It is by far the best Chinese takeout around. We could drive 10-15 miles and get better, but not worth the difference. The people who work there are really nice. The food is not overly greasy and has fresh flavor. It appears to be cooked to order. The kids are not crazy about it and there is no Kids Menu. But they will eat the rice and something from home. Every now and then, you just crave Chinese take-out even though you know it's not good for you. Well, if that's your situation, #1 China is a good place to go. It's just your typical Chinese menu that you see just about everywhere. I've tried their Shrimp Lo Mein and their General Tso's. We liked their Lo Mein a lot, but their General Tso's was just okay. I did appreciate that they asked when I was going to pick it up so that it wouldn't be sitting around too long. Chinese food is tossed together so quickly that sometimes it's cold by the time I make it there. Prices were on par with just about every other place but service is as good as it gets for a take-out joint. Got the lunch special of Mongolian beef with pork fried rice and for an extra $0.50 they included an egg roll. They food was all cooked the moment I ordered. By the time I got home it was still pipping hot! And the portions were so big I could only eat half! For less than $7.00 I have 2 meals. Love it! read more

I have been ordering food from them for 10 years. They are very sweet and hard working. The food is very good. The only problem I had was last week when I ordered over the phone for p/u and was told 50 minutes which was not the problem. I showed up about an hour later and that small store had about 7 people crammed into that small space waiting for p/u's. Found a tooth/bone in food!! I do not write Yelp reviews regularly but appreciate the site to keep me informed on local restaurants. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This past Tuesday we ordered vegetable egg foo young, pepper steak an General Tao's Tofu. All the dishes were acceptable and good except the General Tao's did not taste like most places but it was edible. As we were eating, my daughter said "Eww, I just bit something hard in my egg foo young." When she took it out it looked like a bad tooth or a bone shaped like a tooth. We immediately threw all our food away. This has NEVER happened to us. I tried to call the restaurant to let them know what happen and I did not want anything just to let them know we will NEVER eat at their establishment and to make sure they practice sanitary health department rules. When I called I asked to speak to a manager and the woman said "busy right now, can't talk" and hung up. This place is pretty much just like every other Chinese take-out place, which in a way is a good thing because you know what to expect. My orders have come out fast, hot, and fresh every single time so it's now my preferred take-out spot. They do crab rangoons particularly well here. This is the best takeout Chinese food that I've found in the area. The chicken and broccoli is my go to dish, and their sauce is the best I've had for takeout. Everything is very fresh and cooked to order. You can asked for plain friend rice with any dish as well if you don't want the standard white rice. The only problem I've ever had was them not hearing my order correctly and making the wrong thing when I've called on the phone. I've also noticed they don't always ask for my name if I call so maybe that has something to do with it as well. They used to be the best around, but it breaks my heart to say they have declined over the past year. Portions are getting smaller to the point where the containers aren't full over the past few trips. General Tso's has small pieces of chicken that are dry with almost all breading. My rating is for the service I received last night as well as the awful food quality. Never have I experienced such rudeness and I wish I had walked out. I walked in and there was a man sitting behind the counter eating. I saw he was eating ramen soup and I said that looks delicious. "We don't sell that" he said in a nasty voice. I said that's too bad it looks good. "It's Chinese" he yelled at me. "Well of course it is, I'm in #1 China" I joked, not a smile or anything. There were no other customers and no rush. A simple order of general tso & cashew chx were impossible to tell apart - more sugar in the cashew chx perhapps. It should have been named cashew celery & carrots, since chx was hard to find .
