Decided to come here for a weekday dinner on a whim & so glad that we did! This was also my first foray into Downtown Cary, which is super cute. We got the: - Scallion Roasted Beef Pancake Roll: Definitely recommend getting this as an appetizer! The scallion pancake is super crispy with unbelievably tender beef inside & perfect amount of sweetness from the hoisin sauce. - Griddle Chicken with Mixed Vegetables: I've never eaten anything like this before, and absolutely loved it. Loved all the spices- cumin, fennel, doubanjiang- & the mala essence; the crispy, tender chicken; and the variety of vegetables, especially the lotus root. - Shrimp Ho-Fun: The shrimp were tender & the wide rice noodles have such a fun, bouncy texture; a flavorful dish. - Spicy Boiled Fish: The fish was super flaky; Taipei 101's version of this has a bit less mala flavor than I like, but this was still tasty. - Chinese Braised Pork: The pork was tender with a good amount of fat and I appreciated the bok choy, but it was a bit too sweet for me. Ambiance is nice, lots of tables. Service was fast. There are parking spots in front of the restaurant, but a little limited in number. 10/10 would recommend!
Taipei 101 is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the Triangle and one of those rare places that delivers on flavor, authenticity, and value every single time. We're regulars here and almost always order the sesame chicken and the veggie ho fun, both of which are consistently excellent. The sesame chicken strikes that perfect balance of crispy, saucy, and savory without being overly sweet (its not overly 'bready' like most sesame chickens), and the ho fun noodles are comforting, well-seasoned, and loaded with flavor. You can tell the kitchen knows exactly what it's doing. What really makes Taipei 101 shine is how authentic the food feels at such a reasonable price point. This is not Americanized, throwaway takeout. It's also a fantastic spot to go family style. Ordering a bunch of entrées to share is the move here, especially if you're dining with a group. The spicy dumplings are another must-order. Reliable, affordable, and consistently delicious. Taipei 101 is a go-to that never disappoints.
A friend recommended this place to us and it did not disappoint. The food was SO good and honestly not like your typical Chinese restaurant. We tried the Mongolian beef, Chong Qing spicy chicken, homemade potstickers, and crab rangoons....everything was really good. You could tell the food tasted fresh and homemade. Definitely a place we'd go back to and recommend to others!
Delicious food, just a tad on the salty side! I think my friend said Chuan's mapo tofu is better. The beef scallion pancake is tasty! Lotus root and pork was a tad salty; lotus roots had a nice crunch! Service was good, the place was crowded but glad to see business is doing well. Very family friendly place.
Taipei 101 is in downtown Cary, and on a Saturday night it was tough to find parking. We ended up circling the on-street spots on the block a few times before ending up in the larger lot on Waldo & Walker (although we still had to tail folks who were leaving!). The restaurant itself also gets pretty busy, with a cluster of folks waiting for takeout orders just inside the door and large groups packed tightly in until you need to squeeze between chairs to get through. The staff's attitude and the layout of the restaurant nail the authentic feel. Come hungry and know exactly what you plan to order, and the dishes start flying out of the kitchen. There's a wide variety here with plenty of authentic dishes. The fan favorites are the Japanese style crispy tofu and cumin lamb; we also ordered mongolian beef, tripe, honey walnut shrimp, ma po tofu, bok choy and mushrooms, Singapore rice noodles, and chicken fried rice. The white rice is also complimentary and comes in a heaping bowl (rather than the ultra-common red rice container). The crispy tofu has been a hit every time and place I've tried it, so it was no surprise to me that our group enjoyed it so much. It was less crispy than in other variations (where it comes out sizzling still) but the texture difference with the smooth tofu inside was still great. I also really enjoyed our second tofu dish. I'm a huge fan of Singapore rice noodles, and these did the job fine. These varied slightly from the standard, which comes with pork. The noodles themselves were a bit too soft and with a lighter, more muted seasoning; even those who don't like curry could enjoy these. The fried rice also surprised me by being much more heavily colored by soy sauce than I'd expect, and generally was just average compared to some of the other dishes. Both carbs were served on plates the same size as everything else, so the ratio of portion size is slightly smaller than what I typically see.
Our faves have been going strong with the griddle chicken being our #1! This time the potatoes in the griddle chicken were sliced a little too thinly so almost was like chips but taste was We also tried their garlic pork this time (spicy) and pork egg roll! Pork dish so saucy and yum one of the best pork dishes according to my husband! Our server was really nice, service was very quick too! We did go on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't very packed but did have a few patrons. This time we did get an upset stomach which has never happened in the many times we've been there so really hope it was an off day!
4.5 I haven't been here in a long time and I have no idea why I haven't. The food was very good in the past and remains very good now. I can't speak to the Chinese-American dishes, but the traditional Chinese dishes are great. The spicy fish soup was the star. This large unassuming bowl was packed with thick chunks of mild fish filets, preserved vegetables, and bean thread noodles. The light broth, while definitely spicy, was not so spicy that it hid multiple layers of flavor. Two of us shared the fish and a plate of lotus root with pork belly and still left with a full quart of fish and broth. The service was warm and friendly with multiple servers checking in on us multiple times. The restaurant does not accept AMEX which is not unusual for Chinese restaurants. This being downtown Cary parking is a challenge. If you don't mind walking a few blocks, though, you should be fine.
Came here as we were driving through the location, i was a bit skeptical as i have allergies to egg and shrimp so wasnt too sure if i would get a good non veg option. But this did not disappoint entirely. We ordered the crab rangoons, soup dumplings and kung pao chicken.. along with small sake. while the rangoons and the kung pao were outstanding, the soup dumplings left us very disappointed. the service is super quick and the ambiance is decent.. good quality food for sure in a cute neighborhood. Should def try.
Visited with my family of 8. Parking in this area can be challenging depending on the day. We were immediately greeted and seated. The round tables offered ample space. The service was quick and pleasant. The food is authentic and spot on. The portions for the price are generous. We took home leftovers. We got 3 apps, a rice dish, a noodle dish, and 6 entrees. We would return!
I asked to get food from here for my birthday dinner- that's how much I love their food!! Very authentic and tasty. My Chinese boyfriend's family orders from here several times a year. Their house fried rice and house lo mein are my go-tos, but if you're feeling adventurous, I would recommend the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken!! It's a spicy but has an incredible flavor. Since they're so good, they are often busy so we usually order our food to go. The staff are always friendly every time we visit!
A solid Chinese food choice, and the authenticity is clear in their dishes. The service is fast and attentive. The food is quite rich and full of flavor. The Dan Dan noodles and the scallion beef pancake were delicious. The hubs tried the special fried rice also and loved it. I was stuffed, as the portions were great and we had leftovers. Although, it's located in a bustling area, there's a parking lot and street parking available.

They do not have a lunch menu so be prepared to pay dinner prices. I ordered vegetables and mushrooms. The sauce was full of flavor, but it was just bok choy and mushrooms. My husband ordered a beef dish, which was a big portion and very spicy.
Taipei 101 is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Whenever I get a craving for Szechuan food, I immediately head over! The best thing to get here is the Spicy Stir Fry. It's a delicious, tongue-numbing stir fry of beef, potato, lotus root, seaweed, and shrimp. It comes in a massive portion so be prepared to split it! If you're feeling like getting a smaller entree, their Cumin Lamb or Deep Fried Garlic Pork Ribs are also really good. Their Scallion Roasted Beef Pancake Roll, Boiled Chicken with Szechuan Chili Oil, and Beef Filet with Tripe are good for appetizers/sides. For vegetables, I love getting their Chinese vegetable which chopped garlic and dry-sauteed green beans. Go check them out for some authentic Szechuan food!

Taipei 101 is a popular Taiwanese restaurant in Cary! It has a homey feel inside, like it is a family restaurant. I went for dinner on a Saturday and it was packed so expect a slight wait at peak hours. Parking can also be tight as it is located downtown. We were seated quickly and our food came out FAST! Great service. My friend and I shared the Scallion Pancake, Bang Bang Shrimp, Dry-Sautéed Green Beans, and Spicy Crispy Fish. We definitely got one too many dishes, but I am glad we got to try them. The Scallion Pancake was solid. It had the right amount of thinness and flakiness. I would love to taste more scallion next time, though. I think that the sauce that it came with was a bit sweet and I would rather a more savory or saltier sauce to pair with the pancake. The Bang Bang Shrimp was under the appetizer category but it looked like an entree. Lots of small shrimp in a creamy, sweet, and spicy chili sauce. I loved it! The Dry-Sauteed Green Beans were probably my least favorite dish. I wish it had a taste (or more of a taste) of soy sauce or garlic, but it was still decent. The Crispy Spicy Fish is definitely one of the most popular dishes here and it lived it up to the hype! Not sure what seasonings were on the fish, but it tasted a bit salty, spicy, and savory. The fish also tasted fresh to me. We also received complimentary rice, which was needed with our savory dishes! I would definitely come back here in the future! There are so many options for food on their menu and almost everything was a hit. Plus, service was fantastic. I recommend going with a large group to do family style and really try a lot of the menu items. read more

Delicious Taiwanese restaurant in Cary! We ordered takeout online. Our order was ready and accurate upon arrival. We ordered homestyle tofu, sweet and sour chicken, and chicken fried rice. Each of the items tasted as we hoped and we were impressed by the portion size. Note that the sweet and sour chicken is already mixed with the sauce unlike other local Asian restaurants. Overall, great choice for Asian cuisine in Cary. read more
Large portions! Too much for the two of us, so I'm glad we only ordered two dishes and there was a lot of leftovers to take home. Oh and the food is really tasty. We ordered the Pork Belly and the Griddle Chicken. The Pork Nelly was delicious. I don't think I've ever had "Griddle" anything and don't know how to describe this dish. It's not stir fry. Maybe it's braised chicken with thinly sliced potatoes in this dish. It's enough for a while family! We must have gone early enough as it wasn't crowded at all. The service was pretty good and our order arrived fairly quickly. I will for sure be back to try other dishes here. read more

This is my sister's family's go to place after church almost every Sunday and we join them every time we are visiting. They have the BEST food and service and accommodates very large parties quite easily. The only negative is their very limited parking lot, though you should be able to find street parking fairly easily. Every dish we have ordered has come out very well prepared and tasty. Their fried rices and Lomein are always delicious staples. You cannot go wrong coming here for lunch or dinner! read more
We ordered takeout and we were so happy afterwards! Easy to order online but you couldn't choose a time to make the order for. We were able to call and change the time we were picking up. A little busy and hard to find parking to pick up our food. The menu is huge. So many options. We ordered some popular items from past reviews and we loved them all. We ordered the scallion pancake with beef, spicy crispy fish, napo tofu, eggplant with basil, and beef ho fun. They were all delicious!!! The portions were big. We did family style and just ate all the different dishes. We were very happy and full and had lots of leftovers. The flavors were great. Would definitely come back!!! read more

I love Taipei 101 because it has all my favorite Chinese dishes I grew up with. I took my friends here for lunar new year and we shared several dishes. We got the griddle chicken, braised vegetables with mushrooms, and beef chow fun. Food comes out quickly and all the workers are very efficient. I definitely recommend coming with a larger group so you can order multiple dishes and share family style. read more

In my opinion, this is the best casual Chinese spot in the area. Their food never disappoints and the line is always out the door for a table when we come to eat or pick up an order. The restaurant stays busy and there's a good reason why. It's located in a great location in downtown Cary near other bars, ice cream spots, the park, a movie theater, and more if you want to grab dinner and do something after. My absolute favorite item here is the shrimp ho fun. It is soooo tasty and I get it every single time we order from here. Other favorites that we get is their general tso chicken and chicken and shrimp fried rice. I've gotten their chong qing spicy chicken a couple of times because it seems to be a popular dish there but it's just too crispy for me. Be sure to ask for the spice level you desire because we realize some food was coming out spicy if we didn't say we wanted it mild or medium. I come here EVERY time I want some chinese carryout and am always satisfied. read more

We were seated immediately and the staff was very attentive. Food came out at a steady pace but not fast. And the food was fresh and flavorful. We loved everything we ordered and will be back soon. That house special low mein was delish! read more
My husband kept talking about how great this place was for authentic Taiwanese, and he was right! They have so many options if you're feeling chicken or pork or are vegetarian. You can also adjust spice levels if needed (we love spicy in our house, hehe)! We ordered the green beans (a must have for me), the stir fried chicken with lotus root, and the spicy crispy fish. We also got the wonton soup but forgot to take a picture before devouring. Oops. All of the food was delicious and comes with unlimited rice! The staff was also very friendly and helpful if you have questions. 10/10 - would def recommend to anyone who loves spicy food!! read more

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!!! This restaurant has no business system in place to handle orders from multiple platforms . I ordered 3 items at 5:44. When I arrived at 6:15 there were a cluster of people waiting for their takeout. Some were given numbers, others QR codes. Clearly the staff did not monitor correctly because an hour later NO ONE HAD TAKEOUT FOOD. In the meantime, the RUDE woman acting as hostess with a yellow notepad kept seating people instead of getting the takeout situation under control. Walk ins 45 minutes after the takeout crowd were EATING!! Whoever owns this seriously needs help with their business model. read more

MUST TRY if you want authentic Szechuan cuisine. Home to my all time favorite food: griddle chicken. I could eat this every day seriously. The service is always really fast. The ambiance is also really homey and welcoming. Will forever be my favorite restaurant and I will return time and time again. read more

Taipei 101, named after a 101-story skyscraper that was once the tallest building in the world in Taipei, Taiwan, is a consistent, authentic, and affordable Chinese food option in the triangle and worth the drive from Raleigh. The best thing to get is the "griddle chicken with vegetables" which despite its uneventful name is the miraculous skillet full of perfectly grilled chicken, lotus root, onion and maybe a few other vegetables. Wow, this dish stuns with a balanced spice element that, at least in this part of the world, is unique. It's shareable but also excellent as leftovers. Other fantastic dishes include the fried spicy fish which is just a lightly battered, fried white fish freckled in Szechuan pepper flakes. Served hot and crispy, the melt-in-your-mouth fish finishes with the spice that opens your whole maw, leaving you flush and satisfied, alive and invigorated but oh-so-comfortable. Even this dish is strangely good as leftovers on a bowl of rice. Also must-orders: the hand-made xio long bao (soup dumplings AKA "pillows of happiness" as Bourdain once called them), scallion-roasted beef pancake roll which is a thick, folded pastry stuffed with thick cuts of steak and herby veg, and whatever green vegetables with garlic (I love when the snow pea shoots are available), the beef chow fun with healthy pieces of steak and well-seasoned flat noodles that aren't over-sauced or dripping in sodium. They serve a couple of beers, wines, and sakes too if you need a cold Tsingtao to wash it all down. No-frills basic restaurant with booths and tables inside, and if you're lucky you can find parking in the lot outside. Hit up Geluna gelato across the parking lot when you're done and check out the vinyl a couple doors down at Hunky Dory! read more
