There were a total of 5 tables sat in the inside of the restaurant with us being 1 of those 5.. we waited between 15-20 minutes watching the bartender stock and the other tables get service before we left. And all that was said was "we lost that one". Very disappointed. read more

I came here once 3 years ago and had a good time. But this year, on my birthday, I came in with a few close friends and we had the best server who made the experience even better. Micheal U, if you're reading this you are fantastic. My roommate was very indecisive and Michael gave her all the time she needed AND gave great recommendations. I got the Milton's Chicken, Crab Rangoon's and two cocktails - The Princess and the Raspberry Wisp. All of them were delicious. I was also surprised with a Chocolate Birthday Slice, it was so yummy and I loved the little decorations. I will say that I have not had their sushi but I have heard the chicken and other menu items are better. Our server, Micheal U., was seriously one of the best servers I have had in a while. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and had good recommendations for a sushi roll "without cream cheese, not fried, and is spicy" that one of my friends requested. The food was delivered at the perfect timing. This was not my first time at Hiro 88, but each time I've been it's for birthdays- great place for groups. The sushi is good, not the best I've ever had but still good. I ordered the Dragon's Breath cocktail and it was amazing. If the service wasn't as good as it was I would have given Hiro 88 a 4/5. My first time here was one of the best times I have had in Omaha. I've never been to a sushi place here, but if you are looking for one I highly recommend this place. Some friends and I were celebrating birthdays in our group (mine included). We arrived just around 30 minutes before happy hour ended. Our waitress, Lily, was super kind and patient as most of us tried to figure out how ans what to order. They have this method of writing down on the happy hour menu how much of each kind of sushi you would like, which I thought was pretty efficient especially with not mixing up orders. It didn't take more than 30 mimites to get our group of 7 our food and it was all amazing. They even brought a slice of cake out for my other friend and I on the house. When we arrived we were seated by the bar after placing a reservation, the bartender was our server and so we were patient but it took her around 10 minutes after drinks to ask if we wanted appetizers and then took 10 minutes after the appetizers come out to help us. Great place to get your sushi fix. I was going to go to Blue Fish but it was so crowded. Hiro 88 seems to have more seating and I was able to get in. Excellent service from Alisson. Both the Nigiri sushi and rolls were excellent. They do have good happy hour specials, but it appeard most of those are cooked or tempura fried rolls. Hiro 88 is by far my favorite sushi place in Omaha!! I spent about 4 months in Omaha working a project and probably visited this place 8-10 times (sorry not sorry). I didn't even know about their Sunday special until my 6th visit, which made it even better. One thing I learned quickly is to only order their sushi/sashimi. I've been here twice since the big birthday bash, but I had a few things to add. My second visit here, the wait for our food was still pretty long. My main disappointment for this visit was that I ordered chocolate cake for dessert. it wasn't on their menu but I didn't think about how expensive it would be. The chocolate cake was $12 for a slice and it wasn't the same cake from my first visit. I took a picture of the chocolate cake from my first visit, however, I did not take a picture of the cake I received at my second visit. The birthday cake that the girls got for their birthday my first visit here was so much better than the cake that they gave me for dessert during my second visit here. And honestly, $12 for a piece of cake is ridiculous. I can understand paying around $6 for a piece of cake but $12 is steep. My third visit here was during happy hour. I wanted some cheap sushi! I got the rolls I wanted, but happy hour does have one setback. If you want to make any kind of alteration at all to your happy hour sushi rolls, they will be charged at full price. That literally makes no sense to me; you think they want to save ingredients on things that I would pick out anyways. No one in my party likes cream cheese in their sushi. we were told that if we got our happy hour sushi without cream cheese, it would be charged at full price. The two people who were with me are both from California and it just blew their mind that Midwestern sushi restaurants put cream cheese in there rolls. A go to place for sushi. It's fresh and consistently really good. One of my favorites is the Hiro Special Roll. Sometimes I think they forget the masago, which is disappointing, but it's still pretty good. They also have "traditional" Chinese dishes on the menu and plenty of options for people that aren't into sushi. The peanut butter chicken, broccoli beef, chicken fried rice and crab rangoon are very good and definitely worth trying. I picked up a to-go order from here recently and got their Pork Bun, Spicy 2 in 1 Roll and their Spicy Salmon Roll. First of all, they gave me a reusable bag with my to-go order with their name printed on it which is pretty useful and smart on their part. The Pork Bun was fantastic. The pork belly Korean bbq was delicious, the bun was soft but toasted so had a little crunch and the pickle added just the right finishing vinegar-y taste. As for the rolls, I was more of a fan of the Spicy Salmon than the 2 in 1. The tuna on the top of the 2 for 1 tasted mushy and just wasn't the most appetizing. And waited an additional 20 minutes for our edamame. This was the only part of our order we kept. Do your patrons a favor, and tell them up front at the hostess stand if you plan to make customers wait AN HOUR MINIMUM for sushi. First of all, ridiculous. Do not seat us if this is the case. I have a lot of patience for restaurants post covid. We eat out 3 nights a week, and I am a former server...but come on. That is just inconsiderate. Understand when it is Sunday "reverse happy hour" it would be busy and overwhelming none the less. This really is the best place in town for fresh sushi. Much better atmosphere in my opinion. No loud music to shout over and the crowd is usually laid back. Very fresh food and a solid selection of drinks, you can get a beer or a high end cocktail very quickly. The servers are very helpful with menu (not that I need it). Another gem in landlocked Omaha that was surprising to me. Came here for HH after a work trip to NE and ordered some of the happy hour rolls. Did not know I could find great sushi in Omaha. I didn't have a bad meal, it just wasn't my favorite. I have tried various sushi rolls ( Wasabi Stinger has to be my favorite) and both the yin chicken and sesame chicken. I've been here plenty of times before and have always been satisfied with food & service. However, the last time I came with a group of 8, the service was very slow (which the waitress let us know that our sushi would take a long time because they were backed up), and they were not very friendly. One of the waitresses spilled a lot of water on our table and didn't apologize or clean it up. The food was also OK, I love the Vegas roll but it was soggy & then the sushi just didn't taste as fresh as it has in the past. One of the rolls tasted burnt.
