Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita

Always a big fan of Blue since the early 2000s. Met my college bestie and her family for happy hour. We enjoyed sushi, drinks and appetizers. Location has big indoor and outdoor dining. Joy of this experience was the Philly Roll and Brussels Sprouts. Also enjoyed my spicy Margarita.

I visited with my daughter and a friend on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. Service was quick and efficient. The server did a great job. No complaints. I ordered the crunchy LA sushi roll and mango Crab Rangoon, both were excellent. My daughter enjoyed the VLT. Overall a good experience for dinner

MANGO CRAB RANGOON

Ordered the tital wave and Eden roll both good. Mango crab rangoons were delicious. Loved that they added on to the restaurant so way more seating and we didn't have to wait on. Friday night! Server was attentive came around filled waters numerous times. Sat in comfy booth which they didn't have last time I was there. Always a favorite place for me to go!

Some of the best sushi in Omaha! I did take out, it was ready at the time it said or would be. Great staff!

spicy charred edamame, and a cocktail with popping Boba

Last time I was here I wasn't impressed but decided to try it again for A QUICK, Sunday lunch happy hour. First I have to say I love the remodel it created a more modern atmosphere. Everything looks amazing. Staff was friendly and efficient and the food and cocktails were delicious. I got the spicy charred edamame. They had a kick, but they were very flavorful! my daughter had a California roll with no crab like she always orders and I had a crunchy LA. Perfect late afternoon bite when we were out for a girls day.

A little of a mixed experience. I ordered the Crunchy Red Roll and the Cabo Roll, along with some appetizers, and I have to say--the food was great. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, and exactly what I was hoping for. However, the service left a lot to be desired. I was seated at the bar and waited 35 minutes before anyone even took my order. At that point, I was about ready to leave. What made it worse was that another family came in after me and was greeted and had their order taken right away. I completely understand that restaurants are busy and that staffing shortages are a real issue, but at the very least, a simple "Hi, I'll be with you in a few minutes" would go a long way. It's disappointing because the food was genuinely good, but the service experience really took away from the overall visit. I'd be hesitant to return unless I knew they had improved their attentiveness to all guests, not just select ones.

Tuna Tower

Blue is our favorite Local Sushi place. This was our first visit to this location after they remodeled and expanded. They almost doubled their seating capacity in the expansion. In the past it was hard to get a table during peak hours, we would wait 30-45 minutes some nights. I think now it will be much quicker to be seated. This trip was a Sunday at 5pm and we were seated immediately, but it looked like just about every table was filled. I'm sure there would be a wait at 6pm, but with this many tables, I don't believe it would be a very long one. As for the food, just about everything on the menu is a solid pick. Our favorite starters are the Coconut Crab Soup, Itchy Sea-bass, Tuna Tower, and Blue Kani. For rolls the Lion King, Thriller, San Marcos, Hawaiian, and the classic Rainbow Roll. Today's visit was good, but the food service was a bit slow. I'll chalk that up this being the first few days of them reopening and it being completely full. Otherwise the service and food were fantastic as always.

CALAMARI

We've been here many times and our favorite time to go is during their happy hour! We love their calamari among many other things. We've never had a role we didn't like. Service is fast no matter the time. I also really love their decor. I always get the spicy tekka roll. And I love the yellowtail carpaccio!

CHICKEN FRIED RICE, MISO SOUP, MANGO CRAB RANGOON, Peach daiquiri with boba

I'm not a huge sushi fan but came here for lunch with a few friends. Interior is nice and spacious. The booths are perfect for group dinners. The waitress was very sweet and said they were able to make chicken friend rice for me! We also got crab Rangoon to share and I tried the Peach daiquiri which was so fun!

Blue sushi has always been my go to for great sushi. Service is generally impeccable and the food comes out fast and fresh. One thing to note is that blue sushi restaurants typically are playing loud music throughout the restaurant. This sometimes makes it difficult to have a conversation without repeating oneself multiples times. However, the ambience is lively and the employees always are bright, energetic and engaging. Would definitely recommend to try if you haven't already.

Blue Mule

I love their new remodel! The restaurant is much bigger and the atmosphere is beautiful. The decor and lighting is top notch. They have a great selection of cocktails and saki. I've never had a bad cocktail; the bests are the Strawberry Daisy, Blue Mule, and China Doll. The sushi and fresh and good portion sizes. I like that the menu is organized by raw and not raw, and vegan vs not vegan. They have a great selection for vegan and vegetarian sushi if that's what you're interested in. They have great shareables too, like the edamame and crab rangoons. The servers are nice and the hosts are polite as well. I love it and their other locations as well!

I've heard raving reviews about Blue Sushi before but still didn't really expect much when arriving. I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to sushi so I didn't want to get too excited for a let down. I was anything but disappointed. This is a hip atmosphere with quite a bit of table seating and a bar to match. The service was attentive and friendly. So friendly, in fact, that we ended up enjoying our experience so much we ended up leaving a half hour after close not realizing and apologizing on our exit. I thought this was a kind gesture instead of rushing us out, even though we did not mean to take advantage. Free edamame with a yelp check in is a plus, but even without the offer I would still come back here! The food is 100% worth it. You can tell instantly the ingredients are fresh, with many roll options to choose from. We ended up getting four rolls, with the assistance of our server - she didn't let us down. Whether you like raw or cooked sushi, everything was phenomenal. As someone who is not very familiar with Sake I was super excited to have the option of ordering a sake flight. I got the partly cloudy sake flight. The server described it as a sweeter, more fruit focused flight. I loved the sho chiku bai and would order that alone next time. Thankful for the flight otherwise I never would have discovered it! Word is they also have a great happy hour, can't wait to return for this!

Mango Crab Rangoon

Blue never fails to satisfy me no matter how many times I go. I'm pretty standard with my order of the Hawaiian Roll and California Roll but other local sushi places are not even a comparison.

Another reason to NEVER Step foot in this place and talk my entire friend circle from coming here!

Orders are always a minimum of 5-0 minutes late. They don't seem to put importance on pick up or delivery service.

Do they have tvs to watch football?

They actually do on the dining side (to the left when you walk in). The FIFA Women's World Cup was on when I visited tonight.

The Fukui cocktail (cucumber vodka flavors) is a great pairing with the menu items. One thing I really enjoy about this restaurant is that you order as you go, so you never leave hungry and it's a safe bet that you won't over order. The wait staff will frequently check in on you and see if you need to order more. The Bunzai Buns (runza inspired) and Gyoza are my favorite options outside of the sushi. The Gyoza are fresh, chewy, and are paired with a very flavorful sauce. Our favorite Nigiri is the Sea Bream And you truly can't go wrong with any of the rolls. Don't forget to end your meal with the cereal milk ice cream! Reservations are highly recommended as time slots will fill up fast. The atmosphere is well thought through - I enjoy how it is fairly dark in there, but the lights are shining so they are focused on the food. Can't recommend this restaurant enough!

I got the cocktail that was similar to a Paloma, very delicious.

We walked in at 5:15 PM, sat down, and the place was packed within minutes. Not an empty seat in sight--good timing on our part! Our server greeted us quickly, and after a quick look at the drink menu, we went all in with water, Coke Zero (YES, a Coke Zero establishment!), and a cocktail--the amusingly named Sex in Okinawa. No regrets. As the sushi train made its rounds, we grabbed a crab rangoon. It was tasty but had cooled off from its little journey, so we opted for a fresh batch from the kitchen. The spring rolls? Crispy, hot, and on point. I did have to ask for sriracha a few times (our server kept forgetting), but to be fair, they were busy, so I didn't hold it against them. One thing we noticed was that some of the sushi rolls lacked descriptions. A tiny sign with ingredients would be helpful. I am a sushi newbie, and I wasn't about to roll the dice on a Volcano Roll without knowing what was inside. For what I did try: California rolls - classic and exactly what you'd expect. Sexy jalapeño - surprisingly good! (If there was fish in there, I didn't notice.) Tempura sweet potato roll - crispy, slightly sweet, and a winner. Pro tip: They offer a veteran/military discount, but double-check your receipt--ours wasn't applied at first, but they fixed it without issue. Final bill: about $68, and let's be honest, a good chunk of that was drinks. Not bad for a fun dinner out! Would I go back? Absolutely. There's plenty more to try, and the atmosphere makes for a great night with friends. Final Verdict: Worth the ride!

If you heard about a sushi omakase place in the middle of America, what would you think? I bet…read moreit's probably not fresh-tasting raw dishes or wow-level sushi omakase. But there is a James Beard-level recognized chef here, in Omaha, that is delivering fresh-tasting raw and other omakase dishes week after week - geography be damned. His name is David Utterback. It's incredibly difficult to get reservations at this eight-seat omakase called Ota. Moreso than any omakase in my hometown on an island in the middle of the Pacific. In fact, I dont think he needs this review - the best don't need to advertise. I also don't think we have a sushi chef here in Hawaii that is as nationally-acclaimed as Utterback. So we were very interested to try. And we were very lucky to get reservations. I dont think there is a parking lot for this restaurant, which is tucked within his also highly-regarded Yoshitomo restaurant. So if you from Hawaii like me, and get lucky with the reservations, gotta roll da dice on parallel street parking. That's code for come early ;) (parking is free in the area) W-h-e-n you do arrive at Yoshitomo, there is a small - hidden - waiting area within Yoshitomo where you will be asked to wait for the omakase to begin. The dark photo with the lantern and Ota sign is in that waiting room. - And frankly - That's all that needs to be shown in a photo cause the omakase course itself varies depending on chef's tastes and what's available that week. The courses we had will likely not be the entirety of the courses you have. But the rice might be the same. There is a special black vinegar that chef uses to add to the rice. Ask him about it. There is a whole story behind it ;) So my photos are small in number. They are the highlights of our experience and what stood out to me that is beyond anything I've tried in Hawaii or elsewhere (including the black-vinegar sushi rice) Enjoy - cause we most certainly did :)
