Formerly panda house and either just rebranded or under new management this restaurant has taken a couple steps down. My waitress was wonderful, service is prompt, and food didn't take long - I'd say it's average pricing for Chinese food but I would absolutely not call this a ramen restaurant. I paid $14 for a bowl of tonkatsu (with BrOcCoLi in there standard for some reason) and it was SO BLAND. I was overwhelmingly disappointed with the TASTE of everything... it's all just boring. Where's the umami? The richness? It's the most basic template for a bowl of ramen you could possibly have. Chinese food? Fits the standard I'd expect. Consistent with every other Chinese spot in Omaha. Ramen? *THIS IS NOT PANDA HOUSE* We came back after giving it 5 stars last year, and this is not the same place! This place is terrible... The service was the best thing about this place. They were friendly and attentive. We ordered 2 orders of Crab Rangoon so we got ten and the center was cold well 3 out of 5 had cold centers. We didn't finish 4 of them. The egg rolls were mediocre at best. They were at least hot. However, they were also incredibly small. I wouldn't order them again. You would be better off getting a box from the grocery store and cooking them yourself. We ordered Peanut Butter Chicken, the sauce was not good. It was lacking flavor. The chicken it was more breading than chicken, it just wasn't good. The fried rice that came with it was mushy and didn't have flavor either, even with soy sauce my wife couldn't eat it. The shrimp fried rice had so much raw onion it was almost inedible. The shrimp was good size, and didn't taste fishy so that was a positive. The rice was over cooked. Ordered 3 rolls... California, Spicy crab and the shrimp tempura. My kids had these, I had a bite of shrimp tempura and I had so many tails that I was literally spiting the hard shells out. So I decided to try the spicy crab and the seaweed that it was wrapped in was hard and I had to pull it out of my mouth to finish chewing it. It was a horrible experience and place I will never come back to. I would tell everyone I can to avoid this place at all costs. I've always seen this place tucked in the back corner of this plaza but finally ventured in! We heard they added a new sushi menu so we had to try it out of course! It was so nice to see a good variety of options where they weren't all just shrimp tempura. We got 3 rolls: Naruto, Phoenix, and Mango Lover. I really liked the Phoenix with scallops! It wasn't the most amazing sushi but I would love to try again because the folks here were so incredibly nice! Our waitress even brought us free dessert!! They also mentioned as we were leaving that they are changing their name to Otoro soon, so be on the lookout for more amazing things to come! After the holiday madness, some friends and I hit up Panda House for a quick lunch. Full disclosure: it's been years since I've been to this spot. It's not that I avoid the area--it just doesn't pop to mind. But my friend RAVED about it on New Year's Eve, especially the recent renovations and new sushi and pho additions. So, off we went, expectations cautiously high. The Beverage Goblin Chronicles: I kicked things off with my classic combo--water and a Diet Pepsi (this is not a Coke Zero establishment, folks). Thankfully, they have fountain drinks, sparing me from the dreaded can situation where you ration every sip like you're on a deserted island. Refill anxiety? Not here. The Scene: Walking in, we read the chalkboard specials while waiting for the hostess. It was 12:30 on a Tuesday, and the place was pretty quiet--just a few occupied tables. Most of the action seemed to be in takeout orders, with our lone server doing it all: waiting tables, answering phones, and handling to-go orders. She was friendly but obviously stretched thin. We had to flag her down for drink refills a couple of times, but given the circumstances, she did her best, and we appreciated her hustle. The Food: We all went for the lunch specials--entree, rice, and soup (egg drop or hot and sour). Sad news: no complimentary crab Rangoon or spring roll on the side. I chose hot and sour soup, which was... okay. Not hot, not sour--just soup. I ate it because, well, hunger. My Broccoli Chicken with steamed rice and added carrots was solid but unremarkable--nothing a little chili sauce couldn't fix. The chicken was all white meat, and the broccoli was perfectly crisp. My friends polished off their Peanut Butter Chicken and General Tso's Chicken, so I'm assuming those were hits. The Restroom Adventure: Before braving the frozen Omaha tundra, we made a pit stop. The hallway to the bathroom was a sketchy trek-- but once inside, it was literally freezing--at least 20 degrees colder than the rest of the restaurant. Not exactly a spa-like experience, but hey, it got the job done. In and out, folks. No lingering. The Verdict: Average food, stellar company. My meal, with added carrots and a soda, came to about $15--not bad. Will I be back? If invited, sure. Will I daydream about my next visit? Probably not. But if you're in the area and craving decent Chinese food with some quirks, Panda House might just hit the spot! read more

I would rate -5 stars if possible. I ordered the takoyaki first they were okay. Over cooked and very chewy. Then I get my shrimp tempura rolls they were pretty alright. THEN i get my tonkotsu ramen I've had this ramen at multiple shops all similar tastes this one tastes like they had put sewage water in it. I went to the bathroom and it smelt how the ramen had tasted! We went with a group their tuna roll was very warm and tasted awful. I attempted to order on Panda House' website on a Saturday night around 7pm, but the spinny wheel thing just sat there spinning when I submitted my order. It span and it spun and it spinned for several minutes, so I closed the page and phoned in my order: -Small sweet & sour chicken with fried rice -Large tangerine beef with fried rice -Small beef chow mein (the lady asked if I wanted steamed or fried rice with my chow mein (weird), so I chose fried When I got to the restaurant, it was empty & the only to-go order on the counter was mine. I looked at the ticket and verified they keyed in what I ordered. However... When I got home, the sweet & sour chicken didn't have any sweet & sour sauce. The chow mein was missing, replaced with some beef dish that I still don't understand. The tangerine beef was not strips or chunks, but big pieces that had to be cut with a steak knife (because they were too tough to cut with a fork). We ordered our food and as we ate, we saw this server chatting up the white customers but NEVER ONCE came over to our table to ask if everything was alright. We used to love Panda House. Just found out while ordering take out that they have new owners. Will NEVER go back. Got home and had the wrong soup, left the family home to eat while I drove back to get the correct soup which left me eating cold food when I got home. When I got home the family didn't have anything good to say. We had 2 chicken dinners and one beef. I have never seen cashew chicken with breaded chicken and no vegetables. Both chicken meals tasted like they had been cooked in a pan that had been burned and not cleaned. The egg rolls were not edible. Everything was bland or had a funny taste. Spent over $60 on food that went in the trash. One family member said the egg drop soup tasted like play-dough. And the entrees were swimming in what was supposed to be sauce but was more like water. read more

One of my friend recommended this place, I was super excited since I'm always looking. Their interior decorating is beautiful, quiet, and simple. The dishwater is honestly a huge plus. Panda House is one of my go-to Chinese places for takeout. They have a wide selection of all the old standbys as well as a long list of house specialties. Few places in Omaha actually do peanut butter chicken really well and this is one of them. It tends to be a midwestern Chinese dish in general, but the version at panda house is perfect. The chunks of succulent dark meat chicken are hot and crispy and covered in a glazy, rich peanut butter sauce. YUM. Their fried rice is pretty standard, could use a tad more wok flavor. I also enjoy the tangerine chicken, chicken lo mein, and crispy duck. Great crab Rangoon and egg rolls. Again, the deeply satisfying crunch you get from something perfectly fried golden and crispy can't be beat. Panda House? More like Blanda House! Calling this Chinese food is an insult to a billion Chinese people and their ancestors. It's hard to express just how disgusting their food was on a recent take out meal. We ordered kung pao chicken with fried rice. The "kung pao chicken" did not have any celery, peppers or peanuts and came with cold, hard brown rice. The dish had pieces of haphazardly breaded chicken with button mushrooms in a dysenteric brown sauce. My husband left the house to pick it up. i received a call from the restaurant saying they forgot to put in the "tortillas " for the mu shu pork. He walks in the door and is immediately frustrated that they want him to come back. In the meantime I open my s/s chicken only to find breaded chicken pieces with no s/s. Online it said each entre came with an egg roll. No egg rolls to be found. My husband called the restaurant. She claimed the website was wrong about the egg rolls. She refused any kind of refund but offered a free soup which they delivered and ran. Never going back. read more
