In the space that once housed Greenbelly on 114th and Dodge, there is now a fantastic new spot called Tomo Sushi & Ramen, and they are truly impressive! The ambiance is pretty upscale with cool wooden walls carved with geometric shapes, nice new concrete tile floors, and comfy booths with a bright orange and wood design. During our visit, we had a delicious Yum Yum sushi roll, the Salmon Teriyaki Lunch Bento Box (which is an incredible deal at just $12.99) and the super flavorful Black Garlic Ramen with pork. Each dish we had was very obviously made with super high-quality ingredients, and the prices are relatively inexpensive too for the hearty meals you can get! The lunch or dinner bento boxes are the star of the show, as they come with your choice of protein, a salad or soup, fried rice, and a tasty 4-piece California roll. Even the mini salad with their creamy dressing was not an afterthought, and full of flavor. And lastly, I can't speak highly enough of the service. Our server checked on us multiple times, made sure we loved everything we ordered, and even helped us package up our ramen leftovers, since I was afraid I would spill it! I highly recommend checking out Tomo Sushi & Ramen for an inexpensive meal that doesn't skimp on service, flavor, or ambiance.

Had Tomo today. Definitely a solid 4 if not 4.5 stars. My sushi was great! Salmon skin hand roll and the spicy Latino roll both excellent. Had a bowl of fried rice. Very bland. No flavor and gyoza also bland. So that's where the .5 drop is. Server was absolutely awesome and attentive. Will for sure be back for ramen next time when it's colder outside.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese flavors in Omaha, Tomo Sushi & Ramen is a hidden gem worth visiting. From the moment you step in, the ambiance sets the tone with its modern Japanese-inspired décor--warm wooden panels, soft pendant lighting, and charming touches like decorative parasols. It feels cozy and inviting, perfect for both casual dining and a relaxed date night. Fresh Sashimi Platter The sashimi platter is a true highlight and deserves a standing ovation. The salmon is buttery and rich, the tuna has that perfect fresh ocean bite, and the white fish is silky with a natural sweetness. Each slice tastes as though it's flown straight from a Tokyo fish market--fresh, clean, and cut with precision. Paired with a hint of wasabi and thinly sliced lemon, the flavors sing. Ramen Bowls - Tonkatsu & Black Garlic The Tonkatsu Ramen is pure comfort food with a deep, creamy pork broth that delivers a bold, savory punch. The chashu pork is tender and melts in your mouth, while the seasoned egg is cooked to perfection with a golden, jammy center. The noodles have a great bite, soaking up the rich broth with every slurp. The Black Garlic Ramen is another level of flavor--smoky, earthy, and slightly sweet with the roasted black garlic oil elevating the entire bowl. The umami layers make it feel like a specialty dish straight out of a ramen bar in Japan. Overall Experience Tomo offers a well-rounded menu, but even just the sashimi and ramen showcase their dedication to authentic Japanese cuisine. The service is friendly and attentive, and the dishes come out beautifully plated, as seen in the sashimi and ramen bowls. Must-tries: * Sashimi Platter * Tonkatsu Ramen * Black Garlic Ramen If you're craving fresh sushi and hearty ramen in Omaha, Tomo Sushi & Ramen will leave you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal.

Hands down one of the best sushi places on the list! After a long break from sushi, this place packed a major punch! We tried three signature rolls: Black Dragon, Salmon King, and Moon River. The waitress was so excited when we ordered the Salmon King Roll which we knew meant we were in for an amazing experience. She was so nice and told us so much about their fish! Everything about this place was phenomenal and I cannot wait to try every option on this LARGE menu! Don't forget to check out the Omaha Sushi Project on Yelp Collections! Presentation: 5/5!!! Crunch: 3/5 Taste: 5/5!! Variety of Menu: 4/5 Price: $

Recently opened and I think is going to go well! Food was super filling and lots of options! The service was friendly and came over to check on us. Place was decorated so cool and when I went had some leftover umbrellas that they used as decoration that they gave out for free!! Will be going again soon

Love this place, everything so cute in there. I haven't try sushi yet but ramen noodles n appetizers are delicious

Honestly, this can easily be one of my fav ramen place in town and here's why. The ramen tasted very authentic-japanese, and for the portion, the price is reasonable. I ordered their black garlic ramen and the soup is so rich. I've also had their chef sushi (I can't remember the exact name) and their raw fish slices are very fresh too. The server is very friendly and food is served quick. Will definitely revisit again to try their bento next!

So cute!! We loved our ramen and the steak teriyaki rice bowl. The broth was so flavorful and rich. Everything in the ramen complimented each other so well. The steak was fresh and the rice was the perfect consistency; it slightly absorbed the teriyaki sauce, which made it that much better. Their miso soup was the best miso I've had in Omaha!! So much flavor!! I loved the edamame and dessert too. The atmosphere was super cute and hip, and the staff was very friendly and kind. Great location too!

This has got to be one of the best places for sushi that I have been to in Omaha, and I have been to a lot!! First off, it is beautiful! The giant mural is so unique! The waitress who took our order was so kind and helpful! She told us all about the rolls we ordered. You must get the salmon king roll! The presentation of the rolls was amazing! The menu had such good variety! AND THE TASTE WAS INCREDIBLE. Each roll we got was packed with fish and flavor! Definitely going to go back!

I would give 10 stars if I could. I wish I would have taken more photos of our sushi to add it was beautiful. It is fresh & bright. Everything was just wonderful and the service was equally as wonderful. Vibe is easy & casual. Large booths for 6-8 adults which is great. There is music but it's not blaring and you can still easily talk. Our server gave us a sample of what I believe is matcha flan type custard it was also delicious. Go try this place they just opened within the last month.

I think they call it dirty edamame, which is spicy edamame very good. Would totally get this again.

Absolutely loved this place! The sushi was top-notch the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and everything was beautifully presented. The restaurant itself is very clean and welcoming, with a great atmosphere. They've only been open for about 6 weeks, so the service is still finding its rhythm, but overall it was still really good and everyone was friendly and attentive. The spicy edamame was packed with flavor and the jalapeño yellowtail was out of this world--definitely a must-try! I would 100% go back and can't wait to see how they grow. A great new addition to the area!

    Geisha roll

We regularly eat sushi in Omaha and didn't know this place was here. We got the sushi and sashimi combo and one roll. The service was prompt and attentive, our server was very competent. Loved the friendly environment and decorations. Would definitely recommend. Our server even gave us a coupon for free mochi since the sushi took a little longer even though we didn't think we waited very long. Will go back again!

The Fukui cocktail (cucumber vodka flavors) is a great pairing with the menu items. One thing I really enjoy about this restaurant is that you order as you go, so you never leave hungry and it's a safe bet that you won't over order. The wait staff will frequently check in on you and see if you need to order more. The Bunzai Buns (runza inspired) and Gyoza are my favorite options outside of the sushi. The Gyoza are fresh, chewy, and are paired with a very flavorful sauce. Our favorite Nigiri is the Sea Bream And you truly can't go wrong with any of the rolls. Don't forget to end your meal with the cereal milk ice cream! Reservations are highly recommended as time slots will fill up fast. The atmosphere is well thought through - I enjoy how it is fairly dark in there, but the lights are shining so they are focused on the food. Can't recommend this restaurant enough!

I got the cocktail that was similar to a Paloma, very delicious.

We walked in at 5:15 PM, sat down, and the place was packed within minutes. Not an empty seat in sight--good timing on our part! Our server greeted us quickly, and after a quick look at the drink menu, we went all in with water, Coke Zero (YES, a Coke Zero establishment!), and a cocktail--the amusingly named Sex in Okinawa. No regrets. As the sushi train made its rounds, we grabbed a crab rangoon. It was tasty but had cooled off from its little journey, so we opted for a fresh batch from the kitchen. The spring rolls? Crispy, hot, and on point. I did have to ask for sriracha a few times (our server kept forgetting), but to be fair, they were busy, so I didn't hold it against them. One thing we noticed was that some of the sushi rolls lacked descriptions. A tiny sign with ingredients would be helpful. I am a sushi newbie, and I wasn't about to roll the dice on a Volcano Roll without knowing what was inside. For what I did try: California rolls - classic and exactly what you'd expect. Sexy jalapeño - surprisingly good! (If there was fish in there, I didn't notice.) Tempura sweet potato roll - crispy, slightly sweet, and a winner. Pro tip: They offer a veteran/military discount, but double-check your receipt--ours wasn't applied at first, but they fixed it without issue. Final bill: about $68, and let's be honest, a good chunk of that was drinks. Not bad for a fun dinner out! Would I go back? Absolutely. There's plenty more to try, and the atmosphere makes for a great night with friends. Final Verdict: Worth the ride!

If you heard about a sushi omakase place in the middle of America, what would you think? I bet…read moreit's probably not fresh-tasting raw dishes or wow-level sushi omakase. But there is a James Beard-level recognized chef here, in Omaha, that is delivering fresh-tasting raw and other omakase dishes week after week - geography be damned. His name is David Utterback. It's incredibly difficult to get reservations at this eight-seat omakase called Ota. Moreso than any omakase in my hometown on an island in the middle of the Pacific. In fact, I dont think he needs this review - the best don't need to advertise. I also don't think we have a sushi chef here in Hawaii that is as nationally-acclaimed as Utterback. So we were very interested to try. And we were very lucky to get reservations. I dont think there is a parking lot for this restaurant, which is tucked within his also highly-regarded Yoshitomo restaurant. So if you from Hawaii like me, and get lucky with the reservations, gotta roll da dice on parallel street parking. That's code for come early ;) (parking is free in the area) W-h-e-n you do arrive at Yoshitomo, there is a small - hidden - waiting area within Yoshitomo where you will be asked to wait for the omakase to begin. The dark photo with the lantern and Ota sign is in that waiting room. - And frankly - That's all that needs to be shown in a photo cause the omakase course itself varies depending on chef's tastes and what's available that week. The courses we had will likely not be the entirety of the courses you have. But the rice might be the same. There is a special black vinegar that chef uses to add to the rice. Ask him about it. There is a whole story behind it ;) So my photos are small in number. They are the highlights of our experience and what stood out to me that is beyond anything I've tried in Hawaii or elsewhere (including the black-vinegar sushi rice) Enjoy - cause we most certainly did :)
