Went to Blatt and beer table expecting a good outcome as usual Got up there asked for a basket of fries and the lady told me it would take about five minutes and ended up waiting for 25 minutes on my order when I finally went up to ask was my order ready. Turns out it's been sitting there for the last 20 minutes. Don't know why they could not let me know that my fries were ready when I was sitting right next to Them. I've been asked what looked like the manager. I asked if. my order was ready, she grabbed it, and I saw it and it wasn't the full portion. She handed it to me she said "here" and that was it. I asked her about how much fries should* be in there (asking for more) which her response was. It's portioned enough......Horrible managers, horrible review don't eat there. This review is specific to Yoshi-ya ramen, although I am not the biggest fan of a few of the other places either. Half starved and craving ramen I decided to come here and give it a try. Yelp you really let me down on this one, sorry. They weren't busy at all which was fine since ramen is supposed to be made to order. We've been living in California for awhile now. Ramen is everywhere in San Diego, (praise the ramen Gods!) so I'd like to think I know a thing or two. This was the worst ramen I've ever had. The broth wasn't good and was the first thing I tried. Also I don't really think my ramen should smell/taste like bacon. The bean sprouts were also exuding a rotten smell and the egg was cold. (and while I know for some corn is a huge hit... I'm not a fan but that I could have over looked). Okay okay so lets try the noodles. Really thick, chewy, and NOT COOKED noodles. Yeah seriously, my noodles weren't cooked all the way through. Maybe I somehow got a bad piece? We tried another bite and nope same issue. So my husband decides to go get a refund because at this point I want nothing to do with this "ramen". After arguing with the guy for far too long he refunds my credit card and we leave. He didn't seem the understand the noodles aren't cooked; heck he could have tried the ramen for all we cared. If we are comparing mall food courts in America this definitely deserves five stars. I also heard there would be expansion to airports which Was so long ago but I'm hoping it's true because not only do mall food courts need make overs like these, airport food courts would be a close second. This food court houses my favorite vegan ramen in all of Omaha. Makes sense since the chef also is rumored to own my favorite sushi restaurant in Omaha (Yoshitomo). My second favorite spot is weird dough pizza which is probably the most budget friendly place in this whole court. My husband tends to go for a massive salad at clever greens when he's feeling healthy or a bibimbap bowl at yum roll. I love that aromas is there so I can get my caffeine fix if I do decide to actually do some shopping afterwards. My husband ordered this from the new Food Court area at the mall. He said it looked good so he got suckered in. It was not tasty to me. It had a weird dough taste and crunch to it but I mean, hence the name haha it's probably just me. I can't knock them for having a product that's even foretold by their name! Yes, it is what my gen calls a 'food court'. It's called something else when finding the parking for it. Doesn't matter. What it is, comparatively, is delightful. Last time we had the sushi. Our delightful raw fish seemed fresh and tasty. None of that funk that occurs when it's been kept too long. No freezer-burn taste. Good and tasty. There are so many good-looking choices! I stopped in after doing some b day shopping. I was excited to see a yum chow (part of blue sushi). There was a bit of a line but not to bad. Ordering the taker did not know anything about sushi beyond what the menu item name was. could not tell me if the tuna was belly/medium fat etc. I ordered a couple pieces of nigiri and waited for them to text my phone my order was ready. (that was helpful) Trying to find a spot to sit down was difficult no tables available but I did meet a rude lady who was trying to bogart 2 for business meetings and not eat. Pretty sure she is going to tell about this rude guy trying to sit down and eat a meal there The sushi was not that good. the rice was not flavored dry and didnt taste like it had been washed properly. My good friend and I ate here last week while we were doing some shopping. We selected Amsterdam as we both were craving us some falafel. I ordered a salad with original falafel and a side of pita bread (because, carbs). Having ordered here before, their employees were yet again smiling and pleasant. The amount was satisfying without being too filling, which was perfect for trying on jeans. Can I get an "amen"? Flagship Commons is always bustling and can be difficult to find good seating, but that's to be expected in any city's large mall food court. I hesitate on calling it a food court because it is truly a different experience than what we all grew up with in the 80's and 90's. I will say, I wish they had the heat up a little higher. We weren't that close to the door but had to put coats back on. I couldn't stop shivering! I had really high hopes for this place. It is, revolutionary, in my opinion. a group of high-end restaurants getting together to make a high-end food court? Count me in! My first experience with Flagship Commons was last week. My wife and I met her mother and sister there for a nice dinner. At first it was overwhelming, with all of the choices from burgers and sushi, to Pho and falafel. After about 15 minutes of walking around and checking everything out, I chose to grab a regular burger and fries from The Blatt. The burger was very underwhelming. The Brioche bread was too soft and soggy for a burger, IMO, and the burger was just okay, nothing that I would have expected from a $9 burger. The fries tasted okay but were soggy, one of my pet peeves. The saving grace was the different kinds of soda that you could grab. I tried all of the pops from the special keg-looking fountain. They had Acai berry and their versions of creme soda, cherry soda, and root beer - all were delicious. Overall, this place has a lot to offer but I know the prices detour a lot of people there. An old man struck up a convo with me when I was walking around and he mentioned that he would never pay that much for a burger; and then he started on the state of the US economy and our president and so on. But the main point is that a lot of that generation won't pay those prices. And frankly, it's hard for me to as well. I thought the food would be cheaper than their restaurants since they got rid of a lot of the overhead cost, but it isn't, which is a little frustrating. FINALLY I have a reason to go to the mall. It may seem like I took my sweet time getting to Flagship Commons based on the fact that they've been open since late December 2015, and I'm just now posting this review. On the contrary, it took me a while to get around to all of the concept restaurants. But I think now after 10 distinct visits, it's safe to say I have a pretty good handle on the place. Ah, yes, Amsterdam in Flagship Commons. My favorite falafel sandwhich place, with yummy curry fries. I had the falafel sandwich with yogurt, dill, cilantro and parsley. It seemed less zesty this time, with not being overly seasoned. The curry fries were outstanding as normal with the ketchup and mayo to dip. For dessert, a Jones Bros location had moved into a spot just outside the commons, so Red Velvet cupcakes sated that sweet desire. The frosting was perfect! The ambience is quite casual, so be prepared for a bit of noise here. Overall, still a great place to eat and have fun. More malls need to do what Westroads has done! read more

Perfect place to go when you are grabbing a quick bite or if you are in a group of picky eaters. The common space provides lots of room for big groups while still feeling intimate. I love stopping by during a lunch break because the food is fresh and fast. I'm someone who gets bored eating the same thing every day so Flagship provides a smorgasbord of options to keep each day exciting. The best part about the variety of restaurants is that I can get my cold green tea, guacamole, and a falafel sandwich all from the same building and leave with an iced coffee. The flagship Commons at the westroads is a revamped and Nuevo way to do a food court in a mall. It's ambience is nice. It was well thought in design and construction. It offers several different types of food which is nice even though some of them are a big miss in my opinion. Weirdough pizza is one of the options that I think needs to be re thought. It's overly thick doughy square slices of pizza. Pretty bland and tasteless. Now Amsterdam and Yum roll are both very tasty! The curry fries and chicken shawarma at Amsterdam and the Dragon roll and cherry bombs at yum roll will all take you to flavor town!!!! Can't go wrong with beer blat and table either! Either way there is plenty of great options for all tastebuds alike. Prices can get a tad on the spendy side at the flagships unlike your old school food courts. Flagship Commons is unlike any other food court inside of a mall. It's fun, unique, vibrant, has a wide variety of options along with price points and seating for just you or 20! Some of my favorite restaurants around the city have come into the commons space to provide a shorter menu or different unique options just for this space. My favorites are Juan Tacos, Blatt, Aromas, and Jones Brothers Cupcakes. The vibe is very chill and great for conversation if your looking for a networking conversation over coffee, a beer, or lunch. I highly recommend going to the commons if you have a group that is picky or everyone needs to pay for their own items. Easy to navigate and a good amount of parking which is always nice. As shopping malls across the land find ways to reinvent themselves to stay relevant to shoppers' ever-changing wants and needs, one of their main attractions -- the food court -- is doing the same. Westroads wants to stay on top of the Omaha mall game, and picking any day to go there during December shows it's fast leaving Oak View and (of course) Crossroads in the dust. Perhaps the biggest recent change to the Westroads was opting to axe its traditional food court for a new concept from Omaha-based Flagship Restaurant Group. Dubbed "an uncommon food hall," Flagship Commons brings eight food concepts together in a modern setting. At first, I thought it might be remiss to give mall staples like Sbarro and Orange Julius the boot (the latter has relocated elsewhere in the mall), but Flagship Commons has more than enough for both discerning foodies and unadventurous eaters of all ages. There's even Vegan Thursdays, where each concept offers a vegan dish for a slight discount. That's something you won't find at Crossroads to say the least. Or likely most any other mall across the US. From the ramen, pizza, falafel, salad bowls and tacos being served up by high schoolers to a corner bar giving distraught shoppers a boozy escape through bloody marys and mojitos, anyone can find something to enjoy with a little patience that's needed when eating at the mall. read more

I love going to Flagship. It's probably the great way to execute a mall food court that I've and seen. My favorite place within is Yoshi Ya Ramen. It's fantastic, especially when I've tried the real thing in Japan a number of times. Flagship Commons wins my award for Best Mall Food Court. It's head and shoulders above the fast-food offerings that it replaced at Westroads. The decor is even very good; some real thought was put into design and ambiance, and it shows. Some things I love about FC: 1. Food offerings. Really good! No Sbarro or quick Chinese that seem so ubiquitous in every other mall in the region. 2. Common area for alcohol. Yes, you can get a beer or wine. And, you can take it anywhere in the commons. 3. Stations for getting a glass of water, napkins, etc. This eliminates thousands of single-use plastic water cups ending up in some landfill. 4. Blatt is here, and they have an area that offers table service, as well as a to-go counter, and a bar near the mall walk. The second bar isn't always open; I assume only during busy times. read more

It's taken me 7 visits and 5 months to muster up the data and thoughts to write a review about Flagship Commons. I have a lot to say! My first few visits were seemingly lackluster, and I wanted to wait till the dust settled a bit more to try more vendors and write a fair review. At this point I have finally made it all the vendors except the bar, so I figured it was time. Their website labels them as "an uncommon food hall" and I have to agree. There are not a lot of mall food courts in the Midwest that host this type of variety of food. Granted, half the food court is burgers, tacos, and pizza but you have to have something for the unadventurous to fall back on. As you can easily see in pics, Flagship spared no expense in designing this beautiful space for patrons to socialize, eat, work, relax. Rustic and Industrial, the fireplace and the plethora of seating is a welcoming and cozy space. Flagship has pioneered many culinary adventures for the people of Omaha and beyond, and I'm pleased they have made such a diverse choice in dining with Flagship Commons. The main stand alone locations of most of these restaurants are located downtown and midtown, so the actual free standing locations are more convenient for me to frequent in comparison to the food court at the mall, but this offers the "downtown/midtown" vibe to West Omaha, and I think the crowds agree that they love it. If you're not bored already, read some of my comments about the vendors below: Amsterdam-Maybe it's just me, but I still gotta give it to the original Dundee location. I have also tried their Haymarket location in Lincoln and Dundee still rules it all. I stuck with my standard falafel and fries, it was 4/5 stars. Blatt Beer and Table-Again, the original location is a stone throw from my house and we eat there a lot. The food here at the food court on the day I ordered was 3/5 with the original location beating it out. Juan Taco- Quesadillas-they were fine. Has anyone ever had a messed up one? This is simple business folks. Great for picky kids or adults :P Yoshi-Ya Ramen- Ah, and this is where the reviews gets lengthy. Ramen is one of my favorite foods and my experiences start in Hawaii and go through Japan with Ramen so to say I am picky about authenticity is an understatement. I've probably consumed over 500 bowls in my lifetime already! The Paitan and the Tonkotsu broth (chicken and pork, respectively) were both actually decent. The pork broth was rich and thicker as it should be, and the chicken was lighter and with a thinner texture. I was actually impressed with the broth. Noodles were chewy, springy, and fresh tasting, no dry boiled or frozen noodles seem to be used here. 5/5 for noodles and broth, two of the most important details. Then there were the toppings. There were heavily disappointing. The bacon chili oil is not a classic Japanese topping, and had too many sweet notes for me. Similarly with the Bamboo shoots-wayyy too sweet. Those two combined with the corn gave an otherwise lovely broth an overpoweringly sweet flavor. The pan seared pork belly was delicious, and the only topping I really enjoyed. Since I am not sure if they are actually trying to be traditional or give it their own spin, I dont know if the sweet flavor is purposeful or a mistake. I am not much of a fan and would get it again without the toppings. Yum Roll- Basically an extension of Blue sushi, with a "saigon bowl/chipotle" themed rice bowl meal. Pretty good idea for a food court. WeirDough- It's pizza. Another for the pick eaters out there. Clever Greeens- Healthier than many of the other options and friendly for vegan and vegatarian that dont want fried foods or sushi. Aroma- Sets the space apart by bringing in a cafe vibe and making it ok to linger and do some wifi work on a tablet or computer. Very neat. Nicely placed near the fire place. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open for what feels like months now. The concept sounded like it would be a bunch of my favorite restaurants and types of food gathered under one roof in a huge cluster of indecision-promoting deliciousness. When Flagship Commons finally opened, I was thrilled to find out that my anticipation was well warranted. I went within a week of the grand opening, and of course it was packed. Nonetheless, there were seats available (we didn't mind sharing a large table with a few other groups), and the lines moved along at a reasonable pace. I also love the ambiance of this place. The high ceilings with large windows to let in natural light, the barn board accent walls and TVs, and the industrial accents create a really inviting barn/loft hybrid feel (If you've been to Blatt, it's very much the same style). There are quite a few restaurants here, and I found myself paralyzed by choice for quite a while. I'll be reviewing the individual offerings as I try them, but for now I'll say that I started with a vegan ramen bowl at Yoshi-Ya, and that was a great introduction to Flagship Commons. I also got a rice bowl from Yum Roll to go (I did say that this place made me indecisive, right?) and that was tasty as well. I'll definitely be heading back to try the other offerings from places like Amsterdam Falafel, Clever Greens, and Weirdough, as well as coffee from Aromas and a beer or two from the bar. I met some friends here on New Years Day to get some food and drinks. This place is very spacious and nice. There are restaurants circling the outskirts of a large, open seating area in the middle, but that is where the similarities between Flagship Commons and a traditional food court end. Some of the restaurants have additional seating in their area or bar seating at the two bars (Blatt and a dedicated bar). There are lots of interesting food options for any appetite, including ramen, burgers and fries, tacos, sushi, baked goods, etc., but unlike traditional food court fare, this is food I actually want to eat. There is also a coffee shop and a couple bars scattered throughout. The bar has a great selection of beer, as well as some interesting craft cocktails. The service at the bar, in particular, was exceptional. On this visit, I just grabbed a snack (Frites) at Blatt while my friends had some alcoholic beverages. I obviously didn't sample much of the menu, but what I did was on par quality-wise with their other locations. One of my friends wanted to try the sushi place, but opted for one of their protein bowls instead of sushi. She was pretty impressed with the quality of her food, as well. The seating in the center seemed ample to accommodate the crowd. They have one of those soda machines with like 1,000 soda options, and have a separate soda fountain that had traditional soda options (old fashioned root beer, cherry cola, cream soda, etc.), which is a really neat alternative. I also noticed a couple games scattered through (Foosball, etc.), which is a great option for both adults and families with kids. There were some service issues we encountered on our visit (confusion about menu options, cash register operation, etc.), but they were standard issues for any new restaurant that has only been open a few days, so I am sure they will be worked out soon. I would absolutely stop in here if I was shopping, and would go here again even if I had no intentions of shopping. By itself, this place is an awesome addition to Omaha. This is probably the only place in Omaha where you can meet your friends and all get something different (but delicious and affordable) to eat, and also enjoy some really good alcoholic beverages. read more

After a couple of returns, using a gift card I was given by Flagship Commons. I wanted to update my review. I'm giving an additional star for the super convenience of having Amsterdam Falafel and Kebab accessible without going down to Dundee all of the time. The preparation and quality of their offering matches the Dundee location to a tee. I was somewhat disappointed with a Blatt burger, disregard the hype of the description of the burgers, it doesn't even close to burger place of the caliber of Five guys, or Smash Burger. The sit down area of this restaurant was also "off limits" to enjoy my meal, while it was totally empty. I probably would bought a beer, had they offered. read more

Won't try those again. Total lunch bill $16. Yikes!! The soda stand has some unique flavors such as Acia and vanilla somethingerother. I've very much wanted to try the salad place as they sound good and the portion size looks fairly decent but most salads are between $13-$15!? I think Cheesecake Factory is a little cheaper and larger portion. The pizza sounded interesting as they said it takes 4 days to make the dough, and this is probably the most reasonably priced place at $4-$5 for a nice size slice, but the crust is thick with thin sauce and toppings and I'm the opposite. I like a thin crispy crust. Was considering taking my gluten-free son but for the two of us I figure I'll spend upwards of $30. For that much I have other places in mind. Now I realize this is a different type of concept, however IT IS still a mall food court and every place has a tip jar or tip line on your receipt. I've been to Flagship Commons twice now. The first time to Amsterdam and the second to Yum Roll. The food so far has been really great. The atmoshere is pretty cool. However, I have never been a fan of tables so close that you can hear the other table's conversation and you can make awkward eye contact. Service so far has been pretty great! I went there the second day they were open. Some places has extremely long lines (expected) so I chose one with a low line. I would say overall food is great, atmosphere is good, concept is interesting. The only thing that caught me off guard was the prices. It is a bit higher than your traditional food in the mall. Expect to pay restaurant prices. Salads 10-12, ramen 10-12, etc. You pay for what you get though. It is a step above mall food. Flagship Commons is incredible! The first thing you'll notice is how hip and well decorated this place is. Definitely something you'd expect to find in a trendy neighborhood in Dallas or SF, not necessarily something you see everyday in Nebraska. All of the restaurants here are top notch. I love that you can come here with a group, enjoy the food court style variety, but still enjoy a healthy meal with great ambiance. It's okay. I got the yum yum bowl and felt rushed through the line. I've never been here before so I kind of wanted to take my time to choose everything. The food is also alright. I wasn't upset that I got it but it was nothing spectacular. Needed more sauce because the rice was dry. read more

I finally ventured over to Flagship Commons today for lunch and really like the concept. As others have said, it's a really nice alternative to the old food court. It still has all the benefits of a food court (many offerings in one place, quick) but is much more welcoming. And has infinitely better decor. Modern and comfortable at the same time. Love the fireplace in the middle. They get a 10/10 for aesthetics. I dined at Juan Taco, chosen firstly because of the GF accommodations. I like the food truck concept and it's a great design. The problem is that the service is very slow, unlike most food trucks I've tried. I probably waited 10 minutes for my order--which somewhat defeats the purpose of "fast casual." Once I got my food, I was surprised to see the salsa plopped right on top of the chips. I get that from an operational standpoint this is convenient, but takes away my salsa applying control. And after a few minutes, all the chips on the bottom got soggy. Not sure this was well thought-through. I ordered a chicken tinga taco and the carnitas taco (on corn tortillas) and was moderately satisfied with them. The tortillas were stacked double in typical corn tortilla fashion, but prior to serving they had evidently been toasted or grilled, which made them hard to bend and eat. As they cooled off, they became less and less pliable, and by the end, they were just stiff and unappealing. The meat itself was fine, nothing special in terms of seasoning or texture. A bit wet-meaty. The best part was the little mini salsas you can put on your tray when you pick it up. They have a creamy lime jalapeño sauce and also a rojo salsa that both pack a punch of heat but also lots of flavor. Yum. I'll definitely be back to FC, but will likely venture to another vendor in the future...party to satisfy my culinary curiosity and partly due to my disappointment in Juan Taco. read more
