Quesa Birria Tacos

SUCH a good spot for Mexican food! The inside is adorable and there's plenty of seating. Staff are super friendly :) The Quesa Birria Tacos were 10/10. I highly suggest trying them. Honestly a lot looked good... I will be back for breakfast soon! The breakfast menu looked amazing!

Finally tried out this new place for brunch! Got seated right away and service was great. Tried the banana bread latte which was quite good! It has fresh banana chunks in it and lots of cinnamon- yum! It was a tad too sweet for me but otherwise solid. Also tried the breakfast burrito and skillet which were both very flavorful. Is conveniently located downtown so would definitely come back, especially on a nice day!

There was a clash between food quality and experience at this weekend's lunch, as an unmotivated, unfocused pair of staff members diluted a terrific dining experience. Located at the edge of the Old Market, it's aided by an adjacent paid parking lot and has a nice interior. Specializing in Mexican food, they have a large menu, and the recommendation we received to eat there was spot on. Our server was terrific, kind, and professional. But we witnessed a pair of staff members effectively check out and spend about 20 minutes casually eating their lunch and assembling silverware while the restaurant was crowded. Their lack of contribution bogged down the experience, slowing everything to an inexcusable halt. We did not receive our chips and salsa, and it took a while to get our drink and have our order taken due to the overall energy level. Our entrees were outstanding - that was the only reason I gave this place three stars. I hope their staff takes more pride in their roles, and treats their customers with the level of service and energy deserving of people who visit.

We really loved coming out here for National Margarita day! We started with a half corn half flour basket of chips and salsa. I loved the flour and my wife loved the corn. The salsa was very flavorful and I wish we had more but the chips were also very filling! I had a giant taco, and I didn't expect it to be so large but it was AMAZING!!! I was able to take half home and I'm usually someone that's able to finish the whole meal. I did have to drop the stars to only four because the service was verrrrry slow for only having a handful of people here. We definitely will be coming back again, because it was delicious!

Flora Cafe serves delicious authentic Mexican and a cute girly ambience that is perfect for a beautiful brunch vibe! The interior is gorgeous, and every detail adds to the experience, down to the tazas de barro and lush greenery. The restaurant has lots of natural lighting from all angles, and plentiful seating. Every time I am here, there is a wait time, so I would recommend calling ahead for a reservation, especially on weekends. It can be a little uncomfortable waiting as they have no central seating for guests, and you can't necessarily walk outside in the meantime since there isn't a text "waitlist" that I know of. The wait however, is worth it. The food is delicious and servings are large! I love their coffee menu, and their Horchata latte was delicious! I got it iced, and it was the absolute best. I ordered the chilaquiles verdes and the serving was huge, enough that I was able to eat the rest for dinner. The menu is plentiful and full of variety, whether you're leaning towards more of a breakfast or a lunch vibe. I have never been disappointed with the food here, and it always is orchestrated immaculately, providing an experience for all the senses.

This place is SO lovely!! I highly HIGHLYYYY recommend supporting them during this insane instruction that's happening downtown! The food was SO GREAT!!!!!!!! AMAZING! I got the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso (iced) and the PAN A LAFRANCESA. The blueberry compote was such a great flavor to mix with the cinnamon and ice cream! The service was great, she was very attentive and sweet! Our food was out quick and I am excited to go back!

This a good place to go if you are looking for some good Mexican breakfast! The service was ok since the waiter took long to get our order but after it was place the food came out fast. It's a chill place with a very chill atmosphere. I got the chilaquiles which were full of flavor with a coffee. My wife got a breakfast sandwich and she said it taste really good. Overall I would recommend and planning on going back.

Such a great meal here on a Friday night! Worth making the trek from anywhere in town, and anticipate coming back ASAP because the menu was extensive, the service was friendly and I can't wait to hang out on the patio this spring!

Cheese enchiladas far - pork tamale, chicken soft taco and barria street taco in for ground.

Cute newish place that we finally got around to trying. Seated quickly but had to wait about 5 minutes for a server even though it was early dinner. Food was fresh and authentic, although the vegetarian food was a bit on the bland side. Portions were generous. Unsure if I'd do again. Not bad but not fantastic.

Cantarito

Great food and drinks! We came on Sunday for national margarita day. I saw on their socials they had a special, $8.99 for a margarita flight. It was so worth making the trek downtown! I could choose from any of their margarita flavors, so I chose Jamaica (hibiscus), mango, strawberry, and their house lime all with salt rims and lime wedges. The lime was my fave! I opted to get the birria tacos and was SO glad I did! They're everything I was expecting of birria, plenty of cheese and a great consommé. We also ordered chips and salsa to start, mixed flour and corn chips. I preferred the corn, but they were kind of hard. The salsa was incredible, plenty of chunks of fresh tomatoes and peppers, it was nice and spicy! We also ordered a couple cantaritos, which I can't wait to have again. They were fresh, authentic, and I loved the gorgeous mug gave me concha vibes. The only bummer was the service was pretty slow. They were about half full, so I wasn't sure why it was so slow. It didn't mess up the experience for me, but it did for my husband. We had to wait probably 15 minutes or so for our margaritas, and she forgot to bring our water until after we got our food. It was a little irritating we waited so long, but the drinks were really good in the end.

Chips and salsa; pomegranate margarita

Very limited menu and not accommodating for modifications with sauces for menu items. Ordered the house pomegranate margarita...hands down the worst margarita I've ever had. It was basically like drinking kool aid; they don't even use real pomegranate juice. You pay extra to get chips and salsa. I'm sure there has to be better options in Omaha.

Located right next to the Gene Leahy mall this is a popping spot and even have some outdoor seating options. They are still open with all of the construction and not hard to get to! (parking is going to take some patience). First time checking this spot out and the vibes are CUTEEE! I'm excited to try out breakfast here. I couldn't find a menu online but it looked like pumpkin pancakes (at a Mexican joint?! I'm in!). They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and have a cafe for all your coffee needs. Most of the entrees are probably 1-2 servings so come hungry or be ready for leftovers. Vegetarians, they have a few options without meat or you can ask for a lot of items without meat. I got the giant burrito minus the meat and it was HUGE! The star of the show was the chips and salsa. You can get corn, flour, or a mix of both. I'm a big fan of their flour tortillas. The salsa was flavorful and the overall it was a great value!

Chimichanga
Stephanie A.

Don't let the streetcar construction out front keep you from visiting Flora Portions were generous, flavors were luscious and layered, and service was attentive at this new restaurant across the street from Leahy mall. We enjoyed the chips and queso, fundido, chimichanga and barria tacos. The bar is stocked mostly for margaritas, which is not unreasonable. There's plenty of parking as long as long as you are willing to look past the front door.

It's super cute inside, with so many bright colors, neat Día de los Muertos murals along the walls, colorful pendants strung on top of the dining area, and a very cool bar with a patterned, arched shelves. Even the dishes and cups are fabulous, with earthenware mugs, blue Talavera style dishes and bowls, and even branded El Milagro margarita glasses. Now more importantly, the FOOD is just as good as the decor and the dishware. They use extra high quality ingredients, and everything is always served hot and fresh. We have had the birria, nachos, street tacos, flautas, and so many other things when we branch out and try something new. Their drink options are also great, with strong margaritas, crisp cervesas, and tasty cocktails. The service is always fantastic, and they are always hopping with customers, so you know you found a good spot. Best of all, you get pretty large portions, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the newer Mexican restaurants in town. Next time you're thinking about heading to the Texas Roadhouse area, skip the Roadhouse and try El Milagro instead! I guarantee you will not regret your decision.

However, unlike other Mexican restaurants you do have to pay for additional salsa. I went with a house margarita and the benveza beer, and both were good and cold. I went with the steak picaditas. I hadn't had them before but they were similar to a torta, except the base is a very thick corn tortilla. I like the flavor of the steak, tortilla, sour cream and veggies combined. My husband got the birria platter and liked it. It's very similar to Javi's birria. Overall everything was good.

This last visit they had the entire restaurant decorated for Valentine's Day coming up. But, besides the additional decorations the overall vibe is what you would expect for a Mexican restaurant but more. The service has been friendly and fast! The original Margarita is very good and for the price its about 3 servings. The complementary chips & salsa is great and more of a forgotten service nowadays, but great to see that Alegre is still doing it. The homemade tortilla chips are so good so be careful to not fill up on these before the main entrees. Kendra got the Chile Verde which was massive and was enough food for leftovers the next day. And, I had the Ceviche Sampler which is new and definitely worth every penny! It's hard to find restaurants that have ceviche on the menu, but this has been one of my favorites if you love seafood and a repeater for me! If your looking for more of an upscale $$ Mexican restaurant with great food, service and ambiance it's hard to beat El Muchacho Alegre.

The place is very large and open, so you don't feel like you're walking on top of others and can have conversations without feeling like you need to yell to be heard or whisper to not be overheard. Their chips and salsa were delicious. Salsa is house made and the chips are fried to order. You get a first basket for free, but the second we had to pay for- be aware. Their tacos are amazing. I had three street tacos and then two basic hard and soft tacos. I started with the basics, and was very impressed. The meat was nice and flavorful and somehow seemed....soft? I was initially bummed looking at them because I thought "just lettuce and meat?" But there's some fantastic cheese hidden under the lettuce. The shells were the perfect soft and a crunch. I would love to just have a few of these for the meal and be good! I had the three street tacos- steak, pastor, and carnitas. I was pleased with all three! They were flavorful, moist, and the shells were once again perfect. I very much enjoyed the steak and they had just the right amount of crisp with all of the flavor. You can tell that all of these were made fresh to order. Their house margs were wonderful. They weren't too sweet and you got more than you imagined. When we got the bill, it's noted that there's a discount if you pay with cash, but no added fee for paying with a card; so keep that in mind.
