I took my 6 year old son out for a breakfast date and we landed here kind of unexpectedly (a nearby spot actually had a staffing issue and couldn't open on time). But my son and I both agreed that we were quite pleased with our pivot plan to visit Con Azucar! We hadn't yet been in, I'd seen tons of photos but that was about it. For breakfast, I got myself a chilaquiles meal because that's my favorite - their take on it was decent: the sauce was the real star. I appreciated that it was served platter style with house potatoes, beans, and I believe there was also rice. This made it super easy to split the meal with my son: we just added a couple of eggs to the chilaquiles for me, and then ordered him a side of beef and a delicious pastry, and then there were plenty of sides on my dish that he enjoyed picking at. I actually was not planning on getting coffee here but toward the end of our visit I decided it would be a loss not to try it while we were in here. I ended up deciding on an iced Mazapan latte and I was very pleasantly surprised! I have since returned for this exact latte again. It is such a great balance of creamy and sweet and nutty. For my personal palette, I'd probably prefer it with one extra shot just because it is quite sweet, but however they are making their Mazapan syrup... Man, they've nailed it! Overall a cute place to meet up for coffee. Seemed pretty understaffed but it also wasn't super busy so I get it, drinks still came out pretty quickly. Pastry was good and fresh and coffee was just okay. I'd come back here cause it was cute but the coffee was pretty pricey for being pretty mid. Adorable concept. I also lived above a mercado in The Mission, and these are as close as I've come to those pastries. We ate at Isla Del Mar Restaurante in the past and just wanted to peek at the new place where Con Azur Cafe is enclosed. Strip mall parking. He grabbed a beer at the convenient bar located outside the dining room while I headed to Con Azucar with the intent of trying the Abuelita hot chocolate on a chilly day. I was offered a sample of a Mexican coffee with cinnamon and brown sugar. It was delicious. Not a big coffee drinker but would return for it. The hot chocolate was topped with whipped cream and had a dark chocolate flavor. Maybe a lil sweet so might avoid the cream next time. That's unheard of to some. Service was outstanding. Oh, bought a slice of tres leches cake but haven't tasted it yet. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommended. read more

From the moment walking in, did not disappoint on color and decorations as reviews said so giving it one more star than normally would. Very vibrant and like a party. It was morning so not in mood to hear loud music or be overstimulated by every thing from colors to harsh lighting (brighter than outdoors) to noise and having to talk loud/practically scream to your friends as if it was a bar/night club. The service was not good. The person was making drinks very slowly and for others so unable to help. Since first time, friends had some questions and so did I. Each of us got to ask a question then she'd walk away and work on someone else's order so we had to wait for each of us to get our questions answered instead of her answering all our questions at once. It was probably a 15min, possibly 20min ordeal, just to order. When ordering, had a couple requests for the drink as I actually like the taste of coffee over sugar. Unfortunately the drink came out insanely sweet and I can't even imagine someone having DOUBLE that amount - which is what I was told was standard. I understand a lot of people love sweetness yet this would have been overkill for anyone who does like sweet. Nobody, but one who got black coffee, finished their drink. While I didn't ask/complain to them about sweetness, I wouldn't be surprised if they, too, couldn't handle how sweet it all was. So if that's your jam, this is your place! Also would have probably given it 3 stars if the service was good. Definitely not a fast coffee place or a place to read or study which is more what I go for. This cafe was a great concept - beautiful space, great vibes. They some typical Mexican baked goods like concha and some riffs of classics like concha muffins. I love their flavored lattes: horchata, Mexican cocoa, marzipan, etc. The lattes were okay - the espresso wasn't very strong. What was absolutely delicious was their ham and cheese sandwich - bursting with flavor and a portion bug enough for 2 people to share. read more

This place was okay - it's initially a little confusing to find as it's in the restaurant - it's like they have 3 different businesses in this Mexican seafood place, but you don't realize it from the outside. I was a little frustrated because I couldn't figure out what I was trying to order and there was a bit of a language barrier - hindsight - I could have googled what I was interested in to figure out what it was. Came here late at night, which I was surprised they were still open that late and got the champorado latte, roasted marshmallow latte, the chilaquiles (ours wasn't as spicy as we expected), concha cupcake, and a Fresca (strawberry) tres leches. The food was good, but this place was packed, we had a table, but no chairs. If you go, maybe be ready to take it to go, which is a shame because this place is so insta-worthy with all their colors, a floral ceiling, a swing, and your pastry in a mini bicycle basket when you eat in. read more

In my own personal opinion a coffee shop should serve you in mugs and glassware if you are going to enjoy the drink in the location. So for me the to go cups are a minus. The atmosphere is a bit loud as the palateria had loud music and blinking lights. And you also get the music from the restaurant. Family friendly little spot inside a seafood restaurant...surprisingly it doesn't smell fishy...there's a separate sitting area comfortable enough for families or couples. It's right at the entrance of the bigger restaurant. The staff is friendly and drink are made fresh. They have Mexican flavored drinks including frappes, refreshers and hot drinks. I noticed on the menu small bites such as avocado toast. Cute spot to stop and rest if you are in the shops nearby. read more

Love the downtown location!! Love the café de olla and the chocolate abuelita!! I haven't tried some of their bites yet except for a pastry but will definitely try some more things soon! I went to the Downtown location. Not sure why it's not on Yelp. But it was great!!! Every single part was great. Price on the higher end, but so worth it! The coffee....Amazing!
