Really good Mexican place where the food is great. The place is decorated like a restaurant that you'll find in Mexico, with chairs and tables. The flavors are also very authentic and reminds me of some of the food I had in Mexico. Highly recommend this place a great Mexican spot with great drinks.

Entrance (Harney Street)

I really used to love their food truck and went there often. The restaurant has failed to live up to my expectations. This was a third chance and I was disappointed again. I ordered their huitlacoche tacos - my favorite thing there (I also wanted a squash blossom taco but they were out). I was really surprised, and not in a good way, that the tacos had shredded iceberg lettuce on them. I don't think I have ever had a taco at a Mexican restaurant with lettuce on it. That's Taco Bell style. It's definitely not the way Mexitli tacos were served before. I don't like the way iceberg lettuce tastes, especially on warm food. It sounds like a little thing, but it literally ruined my lunch.

Fajitas Mixtas

This is my first time in here, and it was amazing! The chips and salsa were very fresh, and the fajitas I had were served, smoking, hot, with excellent flavor! These also came with plenty of food-- a side of rice, beans, and several tortillas. I came in with a group who is used to frequent in other local Mexican shops. We all agreed that this was more authentic, and higher scale than what we are used to! The interior as well as all the food we tried seemed much more authentic. The price point is a little higher to reflect this, but I love the quality here! Our server did a great job as well, we had a group of six and he got everyone's orders correct and was very timely. I would definitely return here, and bring a group again!

I called ahead to check for tables and was welcomed quickly. It's a quaint space with a casual setting. This is authentic Mexican cuisine. I was serviced by Luis who was kind and gave good recommendations. The tortilla chips and tortillas were fresh and guacamole was made to order. I felt like I was eating at a restaurant in Mexico City. We ordered the chilaquiles with red sauce and the chicken and cheese enchiladas with green sauce. Perfect flavor, and fresh ingredients. Order the jamaica and try not to drink it all before your food comes!

Corn mushroom tacos

Incredible service! The guy running the place was so kind and helpful. I loved the cucumber lime water, it had tajin on the rim which made it so tangy. I got the corn mushroom tacos, which didn't have a ton of flavor other than being spicy. I feel I picked the wrong food item and will maybe choose a meat for the tacos next time. But I'm glad I got to try huitlacoche, as very few places offer that. The decor in the restaurant was colorful and festive. Very cute place, I'll be back!

Carne Asada Taco
Ricardo S.

The carne asada tacos tasted so delicious. I liked the sweet cucumber lime water--it's especially great to drink during a warm day (this day was cool though, since it was back in February!) The waiter was also super kind and accommodating to us, as we has a few questions here and there about the drinks and menu! The ambiance was inviting since the restaurant played Spanish music, so it gave a great vibe that complemented the lunch and conversations! Parking is limited to metered street spots.

The food was really good. I'm from Los Angeles and I think it was super good Mexican food. I added some beans to the torta so it wouldn't be dry which made it 10x better imo. The decor and setup of the restaurant was really cute and was definitely giving the Aztec, Mexican. Music was great too. Service was alright. We weren't welcomed in but the service wasn't too terrible that it'd make me not want to go again.

House margaritas
Garth P.

A very inviting, clean interior. Staff was very attentive although they seemed short staffed for a Saturday evening with both St Patrick's day revelers and a Broadway show across the street. House margarita was overpriced and the drink menu did not list any prices. Due to the light staffing out meal was delayed. Although the food was excellent the drink issue ($54 for 4 house drinks) and slow service knocked them down from a solid 5 performance.

Chicken enchilada with salsa verde
Cassidy J.

The food and horchata at Mexitili was so good! I tried the chicken enchiladas with the green salsa and I was very impressed! Also some of the better horchata I've had! They give chips and salsa for the table and the salsa has good flavor but it was very thin and the chips were a little stale. I wish they served margaritas!! Service was great and quick. Food also came out very fast! Ambiance was lacking a little but overall good place!

Amanda R.

Amazing Mexican food in downtown! If you want a true authentic Mexican food and don't want to go south, this is your place!! The guacamole is sooo good, and I am still thinking about it. The service was super fast and the waitress was very nice. The tacos were delicious, however, if you don't like spice, be aware, they are spicy! Will be coming back here soon!

Didn't expect excellent Mexican food in Omaha, but wow this place is 10/10. It came recommended from the staff at Magnolia Hotel. Walked two blocks and had one of the best meals of our whole vacation! Delicious food, margaritas, chips and salsa. Highly recommend!

Hot Dog

I'd rather not come back to this spot. I've been here a few times because I live in the area, and everytime it's so underwhelming. The chips that come out with the salsa are so damn hard, and could be considered lethal weapons. The food has been alright, and so has the service in the past, but today was just a big hell no. I came in, and the two at the front (lady probably in her 30s and an older gentleman that was bald and in his 50s maybe) stood behind the counter, and awkwardly stared at me without saying a word. I waved and said hello and got nothing in return. Strike 1. I told them table for 1, and I was told to sit anywhere. I picked a table, and the gentleman came to bring a menu, but looked at me as if I had no business being there before handing me the menu (description of said look: menu behind the back, walked up behind me and looked at me for 3 seconds before handing the menu over and walking off without a word). Strike 2 This may sound crazy, but I was craving a hot dog, and there's an epidemic in Omaha of not being able to go to a place and get a cheap hot dog besides a DQ or Sonic. Well, this one isn't cheap, but screw it, let's see what it's about. It was supposed to be bacon wrapped, but there's no bacon. When I got the food, I walked up to the counter to tell them that it wasn't bacon wrapped, and they said it's IN THE HOTDOG. It did not taste like it at all. I got to the middle of the hotdog, and noticed there was a tiny sliver of bacon wrapped only in the middle, about 1 inch wide of bacon. STRIKE 3. I paid right at the counter so I could get the fuck out as soon as I was done eating and writing this review. I will come back with Meta glasses and make a proper review of this place so you can all see what I'm talking about across multiple platforms. I haven't felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant in so long (more like 6 months).

I went to dinner with a work colleague. Food - 4 Stars Service - 5 Stars Atmosphere - 3 Stars Over all a good experience. I had the enchiladas and horchata. I ordered my enchiladas with chicken. They were good, but the best part was the horchata. It was very good. The service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant was busy when we walked in but we didn't have to wait. This is a solid choice if you want Mexican while in downtown Omaha.

Authentic Mexican food. It's not Tex-mex. Get the enchiladas or the birria! Really good food west of the Old Market.

Really, really fine, something I'd definitely order again. For me. Not to share. I had the Schnitzel Bennie with tart cherry jam and lemon hollandaise. Sound unusual? Tasted great! My only gripe was that the pork cutlet was a bit small and could have used a bit more seasoning in the breading. Would I order it again? You betcha! Service was fast and efficient. The decor was quirky and inviting but the space was loud enough that it was really hard to carry a conversation. Overall rating: yahoo!

My husband is a much harsher critic than I am, and he gave it a "rare 5.5 out of 5." The pancakes were some of the fluffiest I've ever had. The flavor was good but it did have a slight burnt taste. A quick note: you order at the counter before sitting down. It's a mix of self-serve and sit-down service. You order at the counter, grab your own silverware, and seat yourself, but they bring your food and drinks out to you (other than water). I do wish they were a bit more attentive about clearing finished plates during the meal. The restaurant was so busy that the line was out the door when we arrived, but it moved surprisingly fast. Ok the other hand, the service is rather iffy & unpredictable. The chicken & waffles is my go-to for each visit, and they have many types of delicious sides to choose from, with my favorites being the biscuits & berries, goat cheese grits, and also the fried green tomatoes. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. I do want to like this place, and I do to an extent but again the service is always unpredictable. I'd still say the food is worth coming here to see how it goes.

The dinner service manager is knowledgeable and passionate about the dining experience. When we ordered the radicchio salad, I was skeptical that it would be bitter, but was curious to try it. They were fairly busy, and honestly our food took a bit to come out, but I am still giving a five due to the overall experience and quality of service. Our server Melannie was fantastic and always present. We did the bottomless mimosa deal (3 out of 4 of us) and she was always coming around asking us what flavor we wanted next when our current was still half full to make sure we got our moneys worth. The champagne might not be the fanciest, but for $20 bottomless mimosas I'll take it. They have fun flavors in addition to the basic ones like strawberry, mango, etc. which adds an element of fun. For food--there were several things I was eyeballing but landed on the spicy chorizo Benny. It was really good, eggs cooked perfect, and came with hashbrowns. Another at our table got the poutine which also looked yummy. I'd say the food portion could have included a bread/toast option, however If brunching in Omaha i'd return to try several things on the menu. The vibe inside is chill, would be more fun sitting outside once the weather warms up. Since I was the one that booked the reservation, the tab got a bit confusing. At first they were taking it off my total, then the server said that hold would come off so I paid for my meal/drinks there. I did end up getting double charged (for both the reservation hold and my meal) which was cleared up with a quick phone call to their establishment---apparently it is a new process they are trying. I do understand though why they wouldn't want to just deduct the hold as then people that don't know how to tip wouldn't tip on the total, which hurts the server. All was cleared up regarding this mishap though so no complaints.

Ambiance: It was a nice regular refreshing bar/brunch spot. But safety was a HUGE issue which is where I'll get to my point of this low rating. Service: Is negative zero a thing? That goes to the owner... the 1 star is for the decent service my server attended towards me. In unfortunate events it's not the servers fault.. but overall with the owner coming out, couldnt be anymore careless.. The Cause: Either the owner or a staff employee whomever that is responsible for setting up the patio umbrellas, and I mean those large heavy metal patio umbrellas, well, they failed to lock the pole of the umbrella and unfortunately the umbrella lifted and blew away and had hit a family in the face that were dining there also; instant noticeable bruising to the face... I was only a table away from them.. it could have been me too. I am disappointed in the lack of care in general that surrounded the scene. Little 5 ft me... was the only one that came to help while everyone else sat around and minded their own business... it took a long while until one of the staff noticed to help and then the owner came out and awkwardly said a one word-sorry and dipped... didnt come back to offer any hospitality, non-genuine and non-apologetic... it made me lose my appetite. They had the audacity to still charge the family their meal... but I had to tell these really nice folks to make sure they get comped back. It was sickening to me on how careless they were treated. I would never come back! I mean an exaggerating long wait, cold soggy food and careless hospitality from the owner himself. That's three major strikes. P.s. That same wknd.. the news showed up about a South Carolina woman that was struck by a patio umbrella and died on site... that says alot about lacking safety. Yes, search it up. It's real news.. Hope this help improves the business alertness. P.p.s. And although I was disappointed at this dining-bar overall... I still tipped my server a good $20 as the situation was out of their control, my server was still attentive towards me. They all just need social common courtesy in empathy and hospitality. But anyways, my lunch ended with bittersweetness with the family that got struck, they comped my whole meal for genuinely being the only one that was concerned for them. The only service I'm grateful for was that.
