Honestly so good, and some of the most unique and authentic options of any place I've been. They have a cute set up for photos and it's so bright and cheery inside! The service was fantastic, and it felt like a true family restaurant. The chips were so good, and the salsa was spicy but not too much for people with sensitive palates. I love this style of chips, not a thin restaurant style but a thicker, more savory bite. We went through one portion before our food got to us and they brought more out when I asked. I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways! I also got the taco macho (see the pic for what's inside), and wish I would've ordered 2 of those! My husband got the huitlacoche and squash blossom tacos and they were both so good. I was so impressed they had huitlacoche as an option, I've never seen that before! The drinks were ordered and delivered from the server, but she said since they're working on a liquor license they have a bar next door that makes them. Wandered into Mexitili spur of the moment because they were open for lunch on Memorial Day and I was in the area. The streetcar boondoggle is not affecting their block so parking is available. Decor is calming. I did not opt for an adult beverage as they were a bit pricey and I needed to retain focus. Settled on chicken enchiladas. Very tasty with some kick. The cheese was drizzled on top rather than baked through. Service was exceptionally friendly, I suspect from the bartender/proprietor. I really used to love their food truck and went there often. The restaurant has failed to live up to my expectations. This was a third chance and I was disappointed again. I ordered their huitlacoche tacos - my favorite thing there (I also wanted a squash blossom taco but they were out). I was really surprised, and not in a good way, that the tacos had shredded iceberg lettuce on them. I don't think I have ever had a taco at a Mexican restaurant with lettuce on it. That's Taco Bell style. It's definitely not the way Mexitli tacos were served before. I don't like the way iceberg lettuce tastes, especially on warm food. This is my first time in here, and it was amazing! The chips and salsa were very fresh, and the fajitas I had were served, smoking, hot, with excellent flavor! These also came with plenty of food-- a side of rice, beans, and several tortillas. I came in with a group who is used to frequent in other local Mexican shops. We all agreed that this was more authentic, and higher scale than what we are used to! The interior as well as all the food we tried seemed much more authentic. Incredible service! The guy running the place was so kind and helpful. I loved the cucumber lime water, it had tajin on the rim which made it so tangy. I got the corn mushroom tacos, which didn't have a ton of flavor other than being spicy. I feel I picked the wrong food item and will maybe choose a meat for the tacos next time. The food was really good. I'm from Los Angeles and I think it was super good Mexican food. I added some beans to the torta so it wouldn't be dry which made it 10x better imo. I'd rather not come back to this spot. I've been here a few times because I live in the area, and everytime it's so underwhelming. The chips that come out with the salsa are so damn hard, and could be considered lethal weapons. The food has been alright, and so has the service in the past, but today was just a big hell no. I came in, and the two at the front (lady probably in her 30s and an older gentleman that was bald and in his 50s maybe) stood behind the counter, and awkwardly stared at me without saying a word. I waved and said hello and got nothing in return. Strike 1. I told them table for 1, and I was told to sit anywhere. I picked a table, and the gentleman came to bring a menu, but looked at me as if I had no business being there before handing me the menu (description of said look: menu behind the back, walked up behind me and looked at me for 3 seconds before handing the menu over and walking off without a word). Strike 2 This may sound crazy, but I was craving a hot dog, and there's an epidemic in Omaha of not being able to go to a place and get a cheap hot dog besides a DQ or Sonic. Well, this one isn't cheap, but screw it, let's see what it's about. It was supposed to be bacon wrapped, but there's no bacon. When I got the food, I walked up to the counter to tell them that it wasn't bacon wrapped, and they said it's IN THE HOTDOG. It did not taste like it at all. I got to the middle of the hotdog, and noticed there was a tiny sliver of bacon wrapped only in the middle, about 1 inch wide of bacon. STRIKE 3. I paid right at the counter so I could get the fuck out as soon as I was done eating and writing this review. I will come back with Meta glasses and make a proper review of this place so you can all see what I'm talking about across multiple platforms. I haven't felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant in so long (more like 6 months). read more

**5 stars - Amazing authentic Mexican food!** Stopped here while in town for the World Series game and I'm so glad we did. The food was incredible - so authentic it felt like being at a restaurant in Mexico. I'm picky with Mexican food and this tasted just like my mom's cooking. The staff was great and there was even live music while we ate. The margaritas were delicious too! Honestly surprised it wasn't packed because you can't get more authentic than this. Stopped into Mexitli on a hot Wednesday afternoon for lunch. The interior is well decorated. My only gripe is that the plastic covering the tables was sticking to my sweaty legs. The woman who took my order was kind. They have a variety of sodas available including Mexican varieties. I stuck with a Diet Coke and ordered the hot dog plate. They served up chips and salsa. The salsa here had a nice spicy level. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't as hot outside and if I had more than just a bottled soda. Either way, the chips by themselves were great too. It wasn't long before my entrée showed up. It was a beautiful plate with the hot dog as the main work of art. It was loaded, bacon-wrapped, and bursting with toppings: cilantro, jalapenos, ketchup, mustard, chipotle mayo, and maybe more. There was a side of salsa on the plate as well. The hot dog was delicious. The flavors melded perfectly. The main disappointment was the fries. They look hand cut which I loved but they were WILDLY undercooked. Just floppy soggy pieces of potato. It was sad. They were the only bad thing about the whole experience. That being said, I'd definitely recommend others to visit Mextili. This family run restaurant is small but superb! The ambiance is causal but pleasant, not a lot of tables but clean and attractive, with excellent service. Our server was the niece of the owner, and she was happy to offer menu suggestions and answer questions. The food was the real star! My husband ordered two of the Birria Tacos con Queso. They were a bit greasy, but had terrific flavors. I ordered two of the Carne Asada Tacos, and they were excellent! My youngest daughter very much enjoyed the Kid's Quesadilla, to which we had chicken added. The chicken was surprisingly flavorful; one of the best quesadilla's we have found on a kid's menu! We added a side of beans and rice to even out the meal, which was a nice addition. The food was great! After our meal we crossed through to next door where they have crepes and waffles for dessert. Both are run by the same family, so you can have your dessert delivered to your restaurant table, if you like. This was a real treat for a casual dinner out on a Saturday evening. This is a sweet and cozy restaurant thoughtfully decorated with plenty of colorful pieces of Mexican artworks and crafts. Service is quick and pleasant. Blue corn and yellow corn tortilla chips are homemade, crisp, and flavorful, served with a fresh and delicious red salsa. I stopped in early on a cold December morning, ordering the huevos rancheros and the cucumber-lime agua fresca. The huevos rancheros were served on two crunchy tostadas, eggs over easy, covered with a warm salsa roja. They are the best huevos rancheros I've had since Mexico. I suggest trying their agua fresca, which is served in a large glass jar, the rim coated with Tajín. They play old school Mexican mariachi music. In my opinion, this is easily the best Mexican food in the Big O. read more
