Overall, this is a great restaurant to check out. Authenticity score is like 5/10, the vibes are very La Mesa, but flavors are on point! The decor was beautiful, I loved all the murals on the walls and the valentines decor was so cute. Our waitress Ana was fabulous! She was so welcoming, accommodating, and great at helping us with suggestions. We started with the chips, salsa, and bean dip. This is the first place we've been where they bring beans with the chips and salsa. The chips were great, they weren't greasy and salty like at other restaurants, so they seemed fresher. The salsa was fab, chunky with lots of fresh ingredients. The bean dip was great, too but wasn't so flavorful. I ordered the birria tacos, which came with beans and rice. The beans were like the bean dip, not much flavor to them, but the rice was great. They served them with shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and tomatoes, which they didn't need to include, they Americanized it too much. The tacos were so yummy and flavorful, the meat was a bit fatty so I had to take quite a few of the fat pieces out. It was all very filling, I could only eat one taco. Sam got two tacos + an enchilada combo, and they were all very good and flavorful--he'll give his full review on it. I have a friend who recommended here for the margs, and they disappoint! Sam had the mezcal margarita, and it was so fresh but not super smoky like I expect mezcal to be. I got the de lune marg with Grand Marnier and it was also fresh and citrusy! They were fairly strong, so one was plenty. I'd love to go back in the summer and sit on the patio while having a fresh, icy marg!
Unfortunately, not as good on my very recent visit as compared to my previous visit. Wait service considerably slower this time, even though the restaurant was not very busy at all on a weekend afternoon. I also ordered the chicken fajitas and they were just fair. Definitely a little disappointed this time. House Margarita was good though.
Very spacious restaurant with vibrant colors and nice decoration. Serve is good our waiter is very friendly and helpful. They give you free bean dip , chips and salsa . I like the menu is so extensive: they have a vegetarian section , soup , on top of the burrito , enchiladas, tacos, salad , etc . It also has a nice menu for cocktails. Happy hour for margaritas are $5 . The portion is so big that we have left over to bring home . Would love to return to try other items on the menu ( eg. the carnitas burritos.)
Came back to the Real last night for dinner. Had the carne asada plate. I thought it was pretty good. The complimentary bean dips is delicious! I wish they had spicier salsa for the chips. Once again pretty good
Ended up getting takeout and the service was so fast and friendly!! Their food was also soooo delicious! Definitely get the side of guacamole and they have you chips with it! It was so fresh and perfect and just needed a margarita to go with it! Their carne asada was the best I've ever had and was grilled sooo perfectly! Their fried rice and beans were also so good together and mixed so well with the mole. So glad we got some fresh homemade salsa that paired so well with everything! Definitely will have to go and dine-in to get myself one of their giant margaritas that they have! Can't forget the guacamole!
Took my family and daughter in law for her birthday dinner and it was a very nice evening. Establishment wasn't very busy although service was a little slow. Our entrees very very good and unfortunately I only photography a great chicken fajita. Having enjoyed dining at this establishment before I'm sure you'll appreciate the experience as well.
Really good food and good priced drinks. They have a solid happy hour that Id love to go back for.
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Kids ordered virgin drinks and loved them. My child didn't touch her meal and the server saw she wasn't eating. She asked if we wanted to order anything else. The ambience is nice. At the time we were there we had half the restaurant to ourselves. Definitely returning again soon.
My husband and I had heard great things about Hacienda Real, so it was on our list to try the next time we were in the area - well that time finally came, and we are in love! When you first walk in, the ambiance is very welcoming with lots of bright colors and fun music. There is a lot of cute Southwestern decor, including the tile work, artwork, and color palette. The bar when you first walk in is very modern and cool with grays and blacks and lots of seating for those who want to sit at the bar. We sat on the far side of the normal seating area, and our server was excellent. When you're first seated, you get chips right away that come with salsa and frijole dip. The salsa is very light and refreshing tasting (not trying to blow you out of the room with spice), and the frijole dip (my husband's favorite) was super creamy and savory. As a starter, we also ordered the Queso with chips, and that was out of this world delicious. It was smooth and obviously homemade with a very slight twinge of sweetness, almost like a poblano. No neon yellow queso here! I ordered the Combination Plate #1 (Two Enchiladas) with beef. The beef was seasoned well, the rice that came with it was flavorful, and the beans were similar to the tasty frijoles we had earlier - yum! My husband got the Burrito (that also came with the heavenly frijoles and rice), and he could barely finish it, the burrito was so large and scrumptious. We definitely have leftovers to eat later if we are ever hungry again after this fantastic meal. Affordable, high quality, and superb service - we will for certain be back to Hacienda Real!
I love this restaurant! The food is always good, services, always excellent, and the restaurant is immaculate. They're always scrubbing down their menus and there's no detail overlooked. Stopping in for some happy hours! Daily specials on excellent food. Excellent service and wonderful salsa and bean dip with your chips! Very nice restaurant with comfortable seating. Highly recommend it stop when you're looking for some great Mexican food in Omaha.
Definitely solid Mexican food and great drinks! Prices are excellent and portions are great! Food was fresh and service was excellent! Definitely will be back!
Happy Hour is 2-6 and house made margaritas are $5 and they are very good and reasonably strong. I would come back just for the margaritas I ordered the carnitas burrito it was big, but more importantly the carnitas are absolutely delicious and tender, I would order anything they make if it has the carnitas on it. The complementary chips came with salsa and bean dip, all three were just ok. The salsa was a bit too wet and the bean was ok. The chips were nice, but definitely lacking salt. The guacamole was nice and chunky, but it needed salt and some lime. The place itself is very nicely decorated, clean with comfortable seating. Our server was awesome and very attentive without being an annoying. She got my dinner partner's order wrong and she quickly made it right. All said, I would definitely come back, real talk.
I really enjoyed this restaurant! You have got to try their complimentary bean dip and their queso! The plate we got was huge and was enough for 2 people. I really want to go back and try some other menu items - which the menu is HUGE! It definitely has something for everyone. The drink menu is also huge! The servers were very friendly as well.
My boyfriend's family and I visited Hacienda Real, which is a family favorite of theirs, and I was highly impressed and had the best experience dining here! Not only is the food incredible, but the staff are the absolute best and the ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable. We started with some chips and dips, and the queso was delicious. It was the perfect amount of spice but still creamy and cheesy. The salsas were also very flavorful and a great start to our meal. I chose to get the carne asada for dinner and it was absolutely AMAZING. The steak was so juicy and tender, and seasoned to perfection. I was so impressed, and it was perfectly paired with some tortillas de maiz, the guacamole, and rice and beans. I would absolutely get this meal again. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff were incredibly sweet, helpful, and provided great recommendations. I will absolutely be returning here again! read more
We came here before a concert and it was very good! The waitress was very friendly and very personable. She was willing to give us extra time and really good suggestions. The tacos were very good! And the enchiladas were fantastic. We both had margaritas and they were very tasty and the tequila sneaks up on you quick! The place used to be an Old Chicago, so it's a little funny being in there but it was clean and well taken care of. read more
We were surprised at how bright, roomy and inviting the dining area is. The service was friendly and efficient. The meals were served quickly, piping hot - their hot plate is the hottest I've ever encountered. Portions are generous- definitely a solid choice in that area. read more

Tuesday we had Hacienda Real. Salsa and beans are complimentary. We had guac and queso, both tasty. When you are at a Mexican restaurant and they tell you it's not spicy, don't believe them. It's spicy . This was the Enchiladas Divorcinadas. The DIABLO sauce. The rest were very good. Can't wait to go back and try something else. Service was fantastic and the dining are is clean and spacious read more

What a great restaurant, always great to get the taste of real homemade food, in this case this restaurant. Fresh and delicious was my enchilada Souiza. I really enjoyed it The waitress and staff are really friendly and of course this is a really clean restaurant. Price ?!? Not bad at all highly to recommend read more
A newer Mexican restaurant in Omaha, but the one in Lincoln has been around for a while. The location used to be an Old Chicago restaurant but it is much brighter and more open now, which is a pleasant change. A true surprise started the night when they brought chips and salsa but also some beans to dip chips in a well. For our entrees, my wife opted for the seafood chimichunga, which she said was quite tasty, and I chose the chili verde which was quite good. The alcoholic drink prices are a bit higher, but the food prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Comparable with a La Mesa or El Vallarta, nice place. read more
Another very good Mexican restaurant in the Omaha area. Wife took me to a place that her and her girlfriend go have gone a few times. They bring you salsa and a bean dip free of charge. We also added the queso dip as well. The queso had the perfect blend of creamy and spicy. That alone would have been enough, but I had to try an entree too. We both got enchiladas and tried each others. The chicken inside was shredded and deliciously marinated. The rice was solid and the beans good too. Service was friendly and attentive as well. I will definitely be going back. read more

Newly opened in the former Old Chicago space at 78th & Cass street location. Our server Ramon mentioned two other locations in Lincoln. We had the Sunday special Mi Campo Marguerita's very tasty. Ceviche was plentiful with generous portionand served with warm tostadas for scooping. Yummy! Our entree was outstanding shrimp and crab enchiladas served with sautéed tomatoes, green onions, cream sauce cheese and large slices of avocado. Best Mexican food we have had in Omaha since 1984!' Well staffed, great service and nice atmosphere with full bar. read more

Stopped in for lunch as I've been looking forward to eating here. Have eaten at one in Lincoln and enjoyed it, and this location did not disappoint! Fun and colorful décor inside. Was quick to get seated and before I knew it I had complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip in front of me and my margarita arrived shortly after. Very large menu but I didn't want a lot as I had errands to run afterwards and leftovers in 95 degree heat would not hold well in my car! I opted for a single enchilada that came with rice and beans but did not want the rice that came with (never been a rice fan) but told the waitress beans were fine. Also not a corn tortilla fan so I asked if they could sub a flour tortilla and that was no problem! I ordered just a cheese enchilada and asked for onions to be added. Again no problem yay! When my food arrived there were two enchiladas and when I questioned that my very nice waitress just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. That was nice apparently the chef decided if I wasn't getting the rice with my meal he or she would throw in an extra enchilada at no charge. Awesome and heck...it's just cheese so figured the extra one could sit in my hot car an hour so I took it home! They forgot to add the onions but mentioned it to my waitress and she immediately brought me a bowl of chopped onions to sprinkle on top. Perfect! Enchilada and chips were all very good. Margarita was delicious with freshly squeezed lime juice! The waitress was super nice and accommodating. All around awesome place! Give them a try you won't be disappointed! read more
First time visiting the Omaha location and did not disappoint! Margaritas were very good and love the complimentary salsa and bean dip with chips before you order! Service was prompt and very friendly. Will definitely add to my rotation for mexican food! read more

I think we have a new favorite! We grade all Mexican restaurants based on 3 criteria: queso, seafood enchiladas, and margaritas. Hacienda Real is a 10 for all 3! The queso contains real and significant chunks of green onion, sweet peppers, and jalapeños. We had the Solver Coin margarita; simple yet delish. The Seafood enchiladas came with a side salad and white rice and a mix of shrimp and crab. Very, very good. read more

Very nice authentic atmosphere, clean and friendly, wait staff. Large selection of margaritas, and they serve complementary chips with salsa and bean dip. Nice selection on the lunch menu, and the food was authentic and fresh. Reasonable prices and salsa has a great, fresh flavor! read more
My mom and I stopped in recently after deciding we wanted to try a new place for lunch. Once seated, they immediately brought complimentary chips, salsa and a refried bean dip. The salsa was quite mild, but good flavor and not watery. The bean dip was good too. I'm usually not a fan of a house margarita, but my mom and I agreed that theirs was surprisingly pretty good. For lunch, I had the chili colorado and my mom had the enchilada/tamale combo. We both enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. It was lunch time during the week and they were not overly busy so it was somewhat quiet inside. read more

This place - omg amazing. Several of us are picky when it comes to Mexican food, don't care for chains and have eaten at some really good authentic places in Omaha & other parts of the country. That said, the meal I had tonight was hands down the best I've ever had. Outstanding. Everyone in our party was raving about the food! I ordered the Hacienda molcajete - the meat was so tender, seasoned perfectly. Chorizo was crazy good. The sauce, unbelievable. You know when you're mad that you're full kind of good?! I can't wait to go back - so many things on the menu I want to try! The ambiance is upbeat, the decor just makes you happy. It's clean, prices are reasonable and portions are large. Our waitress was great. The bartender was too. We were there for my birthday and they had their staff come over with a big sombrero and sang happy birthday to me in Spanish - had to fight back tears lol it was so nice. And every single one of them that I passed on my way out wished me a happy birthday again, in a very sincere way - it was very kind & a memorable way to end the night. We found our new favorite restaurant in Omaha! Give it a try, you can't go wrong! read more

My husband took me to this restaurant for my birthday. It was our first time ever and we had our four kids with us. We were greeted and seated quickly. A waitress brought us complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip and also brought us some water within the first 5-10 minutes of sitting down. After about 10-15 minutes, I noticed that a table that was seated after us had their drinks and were putting in their food order already. We continued to wait and 20 minutes after being seated, another waitress finally came over and asked us if we had put in our order yet. She sent over another waitress and they finally took our drink and food order 25 MINUTES after being seated. I ordered chicken fajitas, and a margarita. Food came out pretty quickly. The chicken fajitas did not have enough flavor. The chicken and veggie portion was not good. It was like 7 strips of chicken total and the rice tasted old. But the house margarita was good and strong. When the bill arrived, there was a service fee on it in addition to the tip. They also charged more for using a debit card over paying with cash. After leaving, my husband let me know he had asked a waitress if they could bring me a dessert for my birthday and she said she would. He wasn't expecting too much just a dessert so they could sing me happy birthday but they didn't bring anything out at all. Overall, service was lacking and food did not make up for it. Will not be returning. read more
