Not only is the food incredible, but the staff are the absolute best and the ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable. We started with some chips and dips, and the queso was delicious. It was the perfect amount of spice but still creamy and cheesy. The salsas were also very flavorful and a great start to our meal. I chose to get the carne asada for dinner and it was absolutely AMAZING. The steak was so juicy and tender, and seasoned to perfection. I was so impressed, and it was perfectly paired with some tortillas de maiz, the guacamole, and rice and beans. I would absolutely get this meal again. The tacos were so yummy and flavorful, the meat was a bit fatty so I had to take quite a few of the fat pieces out. It was all very filling, I could only eat one taco. Sam got two tacos + an enchilada combo, and they were all very good and flavorful--he'll give his full review on it. I have a friend who recommended here for the margs, and they disappoint! My husband and I had heard great things about Hacienda Real, so it was on our list to try the next time we were in the area - well that time finally came, and we are in love! When you first walk in, the ambiance is very welcoming with lots of bright colors and fun music. There is a lot of cute Southwestern decor, including the tile work, artwork, and color palette. The bar when you first walk in is very modern and cool with grays and blacks and lots of seating for those who want to sit at the bar. We sat on the far side of the normal seating area, and our server was excellent. When you're first seated, you get chips right away that come with salsa and frijole dip. The salsa is very light and refreshing tasting (not trying to blow you out of the room with spice), and the frijole dip (my husband's favorite) was super creamy and savory. As a starter, we also ordered the Queso with chips, and that was out of this world delicious. It was smooth and obviously homemade with a very slight twinge of sweetness, almost like a poblano. No neon yellow queso here! I ordered the Combination Plate #1 (Two Enchiladas) with beef. The beef was seasoned well, the rice that came with it was flavorful, and the beans were similar to the tasty frijoles we had earlier - yum! My husband got the Burrito (that also came with the heavenly frijoles and rice), and he could barely finish it, the burrito was so large and scrumptious. We definitely have leftovers to eat later if we are ever hungry again after this fantastic meal. The complementary chips came with salsa and bean dip, all three were just ok. The salsa was a bit too wet and the bean was ok. The chips were nice, but definitely lacking salt. The guacamole was nice and chunky, but it needed salt and some lime. The place itself is very nicely decorated, clean with comfortable seating. The location used to be an Old Chicago restaurant but it is much brighter and more open now, which is a pleasant change. A true surprise started the night when they brought chips and salsa but also some beans to dip chips in a well. For our entrees, my wife opted for the seafood chimichunga, which she said was quite tasty, and I chose the chili verde which was quite good. Chicken in the enchiladas was tender, more tender than you'll typically find in similar restaurants. Mole sauce was an incredibly poor attempt. Beef taco was not good. Stopped in for lunch as I've been looking forward to eating here. Have eaten at one in Lincoln and enjoyed it, and this location did not disappoint! Fun and colorful décor inside. Was quick to get seated and before I knew it I had complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip in front of me and my margarita arrived shortly after. Very large menu but I didn't want a lot as I had errands to run afterwards and leftovers in 95 degree heat would not hold well in my car! I opted for a single enchilada that came with rice and beans but did not want the rice that came with (never been a rice fan) but told the waitress beans were fine. Also not a corn tortilla fan so I asked if they could sub a flour tortilla and that was no problem! I ordered just a cheese enchilada and asked for onions to be added. Again no problem yay! When my food arrived there were two enchiladas and when I questioned that my very nice waitress just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. That was nice apparently the chef decided if I wasn't getting the rice with my meal he or she would throw in an extra enchilada at no charge. Awesome and heck...it's just cheese so figured the extra one could sit in my hot car an hour so I took it home! They forgot to add the onions but mentioned it to my waitress and she immediately brought me a bowl of chopped onions to sprinkle on top. Perfect! Enchilada and chips were all very good. My monthly lunch group chose Hacienda Real for March. It was my first visit & it was enjoyable. We were seated promptly, as I made a reservation ahead of time. We were able to chat before ordering, no pressure to hurry which is not always the case. The ambiance was nice, great lighting, very clean, the chips & salsa were complimentary & tasty. I had the Veggie Enchiladas. I had to order from the dinner menu, as they did not have a vegetarian option or, in my case, a Lenten option on the lunch menu. They were flavorful, lots of veggies. I must say though, the side of beans were the best part for me. Delicious. Our waitress was efficient, friendly & courteous. We had a lovely afternoon. However, the food was second rate and expensive albeit abundant. The chip sauce was tasteless. The guacamole was bland with no spice at all. I ordered a triple plate of chili Colorado, chili verde and a chili relleno. The chunks of meat were tough as leather in both chilies. The relleno was baked black in a wrap of rubbery cheese. My wife ordered a chimichanga which was stringy and overdone. This place has a very large menu so perhaps we just ordered the wrong items. The bean dip was bland. My daughter enjoyed her traditional crispy beef taco with rice and beans. I had the Enchiladas Verde with cheese filling. The cheese filling was not flavorful and the verde sauce was too spicy for me. The rice and beans were good. Service was excellent and prices are good. There is a fee charged for card payments. This place - omg amazing. Several of us are picky when it comes to Mexican food, don't care for chains and have eaten at some really good authentic places in Omaha & other parts of the country. My husband took me to this restaurant for my birthday. It was our first time ever and we had our four kids with us. We were greeted and seated quickly. A waitress brought us complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip and also brought us some water within the first 5-10 minutes of sitting down. After about 10-15 minutes, I noticed that a table that was seated after us had their drinks and were putting in their food order already. We continued to wait and 20 minutes after being seated, another waitress finally came over and asked us if we had put in our order yet. She sent over another waitress and they finally took our drink and food order 25 MINUTES after being seated. I ordered chicken fajitas, and a margarita. Food came out pretty quickly. The chicken fajitas did not have enough flavor. The chicken and veggie portion was not good. It was like 7 strips of chicken total and the rice tasted old. But the house margarita was good and strong. When the bill arrived, there was a service fee on it in addition to the tip. They also charged more for using a debit card over paying with cash. After leaving, my husband let me know he had asked a waitress if they could bring me a dessert for my birthday and she said she would. He wasn't expecting too much just a dessert so they could sing me happy birthday but they didn't bring anything out at all. Overall, service was lacking and food did not make up for it.
