Trini's is in a very cool location in the Old Market downstairs with several nice shops around. It's easy to miss the door, but worth the "effort." We very much enjoy this restaurant. Their Mexican food is tasty. There are not a lot of seats, yet it can house a large party, though you doubtless want to book ahead of time. It has "outdoor" seating, though, being in a corridor that is covered, one will not face weather. Parking is the usual downtown challenge plan ahead to take time to park. The cost is reasonable. The drinks are delicious, and the staff is delightful. We keep coming back! read more

Trini's is an Omaha staple and everyone should visit, despite not being very authentic. It's the most gorgeous locale, the indoor patio in the Old Market Passageway or a cool indoor space with plenty of tables. The service was pretty quick but except slower service if they're busy. They tend to get busy much of the time because of the old market location, especially during events like CWS or weekends. They have a specials board outside the restaurant and a regular menu to choose from. I opted for a strawberry daiquiri, my husband chose the special white peach margarita (so good!) and my mother in law had a lime margarita. All the drinks were tasty! I kind of wish they had cuter glassware. We got the chips and salsa to share as an app. The salsa was fresh with big chunks of tomato, onion, and pepper. I ordered a beef puffy taco and it was great! Not at all authentic for a taco, but I wanted that yummy fried shell and the savory meat. My husband got the quesabirria quesadilla which was hot, crispy, and the meat was tender and juicy. My MIL and FIL loved their meals, too. read more

Went to dinner here with a good friend from Omaha, he recommended this place. Wow was delicious. I had the daily special salmon with a seafood stuffed 1/2 avocado, with beans and rice! $23.00 what a deal for such great food. The restaurant was packed with a long waiting list. I ordered this because I was craving Mexican takeout and haven't had Trini's since I was a child. I was a bit disappointed by the quality of food and lack of flavor. It left me not finishing my entree and ditching the takeout. It was a treat to pop into the passageway to pick up the food, the aesthetic is everything. Service was really quick I'll give them that but I don't think I'll be back at Trini's for Mexican. read more

The service was right on! Our drinks were kept full and the food was fast and hot. It's pretty normal Mexican food but how can you not love Mexican food! And the rice was amazing! The atmosphere is very unique in the breezeway. Inside the restaurant it can get a little loud but so can my child! Definitely coming again. Hands down the best Mexican food and desserts I've had in a long time. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and made with care. The margaritas were also excellent--perfectly mixed and refreshing. We did have to wait about half an hour to get in, but it was completely worth it. From the moment we were seated, the experience was amazing. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome right away. The ambience is warm and inviting, great for a night out with friends or a special dinner. Celebrated our 16th at a little different of a spot tonight! Reservations were for 7p, but got seated at 7:20p so making a reservation, probably isn't necessary if I'm being honest. You'll end up waiting no matter. We of course did their $2.99 lime margaritas, on the rocks with salt (sugar is also an option)! I mean, it's hot and muggy down there so why not! The quintessential ships and salsa, with hot, medium or mild as a choice (mild... duhhh). I appreciated the option, actually. Decided on the chicken fajitas - added the 6 shrimps for an additional $7.95 (bonus for not having doo on them!) - that came with some dirty rice, frijoles, lettuce, cheese, and pico. Some hit or miss sautéed green peppers along with some hit or miss sautéed onions. The frijoles were divine! Also partook in their puffy tacos; one steak the other shrimp. Some beautiful looking beans - yes I said beautiful! - ontop of some white rice. I figured they'd be served with refried beans but nope! The comment of "that's some REAL STEAK" was made a few times in between bites, and the shrimp may have blown some air between his frijoles (ha!). Spiced well, and went great with the rest of the items plated. The Hubs is a fried ice cream fiend so naturally seeing it on the menu, we treated ourselves to dessert to end the evening. Chewy corn flakes (which really aren't my thing...), sweet outer shell, and dense vanilla ice cream, whip cream pillows drizzled with chocolate sauce. About 10 bites later and is was GONE. Nice little way to end the anniversary evening if I say so myself. read more

My daughter and I went to Trini's on a Thursday evening for dinner. We had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. That was no problem--the location in the Old Market Passageway is really pretty. We started off with chips, salsa, and queso. I liked the queso but the salsa tasted different from other places I have been. Not bad, just different. Unfortunately for me, it was full of chopped onions. I don't mind a little onion, or finely diced onion, but you couldn't dip a chip without getting several onion pieces (see photo). Again, that's a personal preference for me. If you really like onions, enjoy! For our entrees, we both ordered steak fajitas. Our fantastic server (she gets 5 stars!) advised us that if we ordered the steak fajitas for two, we would get a little more steak but at a lower price. So, that's what we ordered. The fajitas came out smelling amazing, cooked with peppers and onions. We each got rice and beans, a container of tortillas, and a platter of cheese/pico/lettuce. The serving size was excellent--we both ate as much as we wanted and there was a still a little meat and some toppings left. Came to Omaha for the zoo, getaway weekend, etc. Chips and salsa weren't free (like in every other Mexican restaurant I have ever been to). The purported family-recipe salsa tasted like Pace picante sauce. The freshly brewed tea was suss. To use the restroom, one must walk down the courtyard corridor and up a large flight of stairs to a restroom that you enter like a speakeasy. It was dirty and hot in there. Back at our table, my cheese enchiladas were about as Mexican as my German-heritage grandmother. They tasted like the kind you would make for yourself in the microwave in the 80s. Nice server and host, but I would not recommend to friends (as one of mine did.) Oh, and plan on paying to park and quite a trek to get to the restaurant. read more

We stopped in late afternoon after adventuring around downtown for the day and we were starving! I feel like the allure of Trini's is the ambiance, the Old Market passageway is absolutely gorgeous, especially when decorated for the holidays. Otherwise it is a small, intimate space. We were seated immediately, however it took awhile before someone stopped by our table. We got in drink and app orders, and again took awhile before we placed our food order. For it not being busy, service was not very attentive. My parents loved the salsa, I found it lacking a bit, but they are mild salsa people, and I am more medium to hot. Chips were fresh though! When our food finally arrived, it was delicious! Well seasoned fajitas, plenty of toppings, and they even split the rice and beans side for my mom and I since we were sharing. I got steak and chicken fajitas and the seasoning on the meat was delicious! One thing that could have been better was more green peppers, there were hardly any. Everything else was delicious, chips, guacamole and salsa, rice and beans. I wish I would have gotten our servers name because she was outstanding! What a hidden gem I found. This was not the original plan for dinner, but I am glad I found this spot. Very small, low-key, intimate space with maybe 20 tables total. Very low lighting and pretty quite atmosphere. The salsa was delicious, fresh, and chunky. Not watered down with tomato juices. I arrived about 25 mins before closing and they said come on in! I ordered a beer and received it less than 2 mins after ordering. My server was very polite, made some of his personal favorite suggestions, and made sure I was taken care of. Above and beyond service. I didn't get his name, but he was on point even being that they were about to close. I ordered the chicken soup and Diablo Stew! The chicken soup had a broth that was out of this world. I usually get a chicken soup when I don't feel well, but something told me to order it, even though it was 93° outside. I am glad that I did! The Diablo Stew consisted of stewed pork, okra, celery, onions, beans, rice, and a special house spicy seasoning. Sooooo good! I did not have the beans put in the dish, rather, I opted for the refritos beans on the side. Refritos beans are "yesterday's beans" recooked and that special spicy seasoning added to them. Great choice! To find this place, you have to enter from the street level and walk down some stairs. It looked a little sketchy at first, but I opened the door and embraced the adventure I figured I was about to have! Lol. I would highly recommend Trini's! read more

Very good Tex-Mex restaurant in Omaha. I'm glad my husband and I decided to try it out! We ordered the white fish tacos with chips and salsa and it was very delicious. Salsa was amazing and fresh. We ordered guacamole and out waiter needed to compt that from the bill and was extremely nice when he forgot to bring it with our main plate. I also love the location! They've got a decent vegetarian menu. Expect to pay for your fresh salsa and chips. I love the puff tacos from here! It's one of my favorites in the area. Trini's is a hidden gem in the old market. It's an extremely small space, I've normally gone in between meal times to avoid the crowd. The menu is designed to either pick an entrée or items Á la carte, which I appreciate. I dont always want a big, heavy meal. My favorite is the puff tacos and tostadas. And, of course a margarita to go with the meal. There are a few things to keep in mind. You do not automatically get chips and salsa for the table. You have to order it. The salsa is not the best I've had in town. Things like sour cream and jalapeño for your dish cost extra. If you've never been, I recommend giving it a try. read more

(9/1/22 Visit) After a coworker showed me around the Old Market District we finally decided on Trini's, which her family loves. We had an amazing business dinner here. Love the atmosphere and it's tucked away, almost hidden which added to the fun. We had the best server, Josie. She was super upbeat and attentive and really made our dining experience great. We started with the Queso, which was cheese goodness. I had the Combo #3 which included a burrito, flautas, enchilada with rice and beans. Good portions of delicious dood and reasonable prices. The top shelf Margarita was a mix. The puffy taco was tough. The tamale was extremely dried out and over-cooked. The chili is advertised as really hot, no. The fish taco was bland and fishy - my husband loves fish tacos but said this one was terrible. None of our food tasted like it was described on the menu. I don't know how they've been here since 1977. It must be because they're in the passageway and it does look very pretty inside. It has a nice artwork and lighting. Good wait staff. I used to live in Omaha and then moved to Texas, where all the Tex-mex lives. I had lunch at Trini's and have to say that Trini's was a delicious Mexican food change. I had a cheese enchilada and a guacamole tostada. The enchilada was a good size, so lots of cheesy goodness. The tostada had plenty of guacamole. This was the best meal I've had in a while. Less Tex-mex and more Mexican is where it's at! Enjoy the beautiful location in the Old Market underground. The staff was friendly and very responsive.
