This restaurant is SO cute and it's in a nice shopping area in Omaha. I'm traveling there for work now and I'm always searching for cool places. The food is just ok. The chips are fresh and homemade and they are delicious, but the salsa is sooooo bland....tastes like store bought. I just had a taco as I wasn't very hungry and it was ok. I'll likely go back and try a few more things but I sadly won't get chips and salsa (they charge for them) because the salsa is disappointing. Service was good. read more

The BEST Mexican Restaurant in the Omaha metro. They have BEST chicken fajitas, they arrive from the Kitchen sizzling on cast iron skillet. The Big Jaun chicken chimichanga is the BEST Dave's way! I had the vegetarian combo with a guac tostado and a cheese enchilada and since I am not a vegetarian I subbed the black beans for the refritos and boy am I glad I did! I love Trini's! Such a cute spot. I really enjoyed both the food & atmosphere. We ended up with several a la carte items, including a tostada, taco, and enchilada (all chicken). The enchilada was good, but had a white cheese sauce instead of a red sauce. Something to note if you're looking for a classic chicken enchilada. The Caldo Xochitl was my favorite part of the meal. This place is so awesome! Situated in the Old Passageway in Old Market, the building itself is somewhere that everyone should visit while in Omaha! As for Trinis, the best fish tacos I have ever had. Blacked Tilapia with black beans, veggies, all in a puffed taco shell! Chips and Salsa are an extra charge but worth it! The margaritas are a little underwhelming but still good! Services are always fast and friendly! The place is located in the lower level of the building, all brick, kindve dark but it sets the ambiance of the places as a whole! Something went wrong at Trini's last night. Something went very, saltily, cold and wrong. I'd been looking forward to fish tacos at Trini's all week (since they - used - to be my favorite and most highly recommended in town). Not so anymore, as I was pretty disappointed. The night started off well with a $2 house margarita special. Little did I know that the salt surrounding the rim of what appeared for all intensive purposes to be a milkshake glass would also make its presence known in a bold way during the main course. I ordered my tacos blackened shrimp instead of fish - per my earlier review - and enjoyed the first pretty handily. Unfortunately meanwhile Bill had to send his fish tacos back because the permeating flavor of salt was all either of us could taste. Meanwhile, the salt monster struck again on my second shrimp taco (those shrimp must have been touching the fish from earlier), but I ate it anyway. The second round of fish tacos were better, but nothing close to the amazingness we remembered. All in all, nobody was in a rush thankfully, because our dinner was something on the order of 2 hours long. Several dishes also came out to the table only lukewarm. Bummer... I will say, though, that under new ownership Trini's has flourished in terms of cleanliness and decor. Gone is the cave-like feeling of the inner-restaurant area, and you've got to love the passageway. Still, it'll be a while before I head back here to try again. read more

Little Mexican restaurant tucked away in the old market, specifically in the Old Market Passageway. Here you can get a reservation or give it a shot to do walk-in. You also have the choice of sitting inside or right out front if the restaurant. What makes this place special is its in the Passageway, which is an alleyway that's weather controlled, so no fear of the cold or rain here! Came here with a couple of friends to catch up and the vibes were cozy and intimate. Definitely a good place for a date night with the mood lighting and the feeling of being hidden from the bustle of downtown omaha. Started with chips and queso which was a solid choice. Then for the entree the chicken and steak fajitas, which came as a big serving and good flavor. Little disappointed there was no sauce, but did have other toppings to put in the tortilla (pico, cheese, lettuce). We also of course got a couple pitchers of their lime margarita, which was definitely a solid choice. Overall this place was fun and different because of the location, however the meal was alright, nothing special. Would probably come again for the vibe :) read more

The chips and salsa are good, but it's disappointing that they charge extra for them. The margaritas are not as good/strong as they used to be, in my case, maybe that's a good thing. I went to Trini's about a month ago with my GF and it was a good experience. We came here because it is my GF's favorite mexican restaurant in Omaha so I had to see what it was all about. We sat at a table that was right next to a party of about 20, with kids, so that was a tad loud, which kind of took a bit away from the experience. I ordered the Chimichanga. The weird thing, was that I had to ask for the sides of lettuce, tomato's, etc. That generally comes with most entree's by default. Either way, the chimi was pretty dang good. They had specials on margarita's as well so we both indulged on some alcoholic beverages, which were super tasty. All in all, I would love to go back to Trini's to try some of their other dishes; hopefully without a wedding party sitting next to me..... read more

This restaurant is situated in the old market area. I thought I wouldn't find this antique alley way view after looking for it so long. It turned out to be a surprise when we decided on this restaurant, so that's a bonus. It has such a good view to dine with. We got #1 in combination and chimichanga. In fact the food was a general type mexican food. compared to others places, it was not as authentic because the some ingredients were not provided for the same dish. Service was nice. I guess the view was a great compensation to the slight disappointment. Recommend to take pix here though haha. read more

Ugh loved this restaurant. Too bad i'm not from the area because I would return. I went here on a friday night and got a seat right away. The beautiful brick flooring was stunning however it did cause some problems in the shakiness of the tables. No need to worry because our host fixed it right away! So thoughtful! Loved our waitress she was so kind and fast but I did not catch her name:( I drank a water which was SO GOOD. I seriously loved the choice of straw because it was nice and thin and made me want to drink more water! I ordered two beef soft shell tacos with cheese and tomatoes! Splendid! Nicely cooked meat. Tortillas were excellent. I also got a side of rice and it was so good! (I am a rice lover) Let me tell you the ambiance of the establishment is so so pretty I loved all the bricks. I'm from San Diego, so I am used to good, quality Mexican food. I know this is Omaha, but this is the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I came here for my birthday, and was very very disappointed. The guacamole is really expensive, but one of the only things I liked. I got the fish tacos, which weren't good. My friend got the chicken combo and the only other thing I liked from this restaurant was the chicken mushroom enchilada. The service is also horrible! We had reservations and weren't seated for a while. The hostess told me to go wait "over there." After I was seated, I saw other people come in to the restaurant and nobody greeted them for so long. I saw staff just standing around doing absolutely nothing. My waitress spilled water all over by my feet. I also felt very rushed eating. I was in and out of the restaurant in 30 minutes, which isn't good at all. I want to be able to enjoy my dinner, especially on my birthday. I won't be coming back here. read more

My husband and I visited Trini's a few weeks back. Overall, I feel like three stars is as much as I can give this place. Pros: Great food, great atmosphere. It's tucked away in a quieter area of Omaha market with lots of exposed brick and greenery. I had fajitas, boyfriend had a chimichanga. The food was good, nothing memorable. Cons: Service. It took the waitress forever to take our order, and after she did we barely saw her. Multiple tables seated after us got their food before we did, to the point that we wondered whether or not she forgot to put our order in. Unfortunately, we haven't been back since. read more
