First time at stokes. It was quiet and staff were friendly. My husband had the French dip and I had the fiery shrimp. My husband stayed his sandwich was good and mashed potatoes were excellent. He did mention that the au jus with his sandwich was more of a birria taco au jus not the typical beefy au jus. Still good though. My fiery shrimp was the perfect amount for dinner. The chipotle oil had the right amount of heat and flavor. It was delicious whether I ate the shrimp wrapped in tortillas or used the crusty bread to dip in. Went for brunch today for the first time. Jessica our waitress was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. As always I forget to take photos of everything. We had the guacamole flight to start which was great (the pineapple salsa stuff was really good on it) along with a glass of white sangria and a house Bloody Mary. Both of which were good drinks. For food the breakfast tacos with rice and beans(rice was very tasty and beans were okay)and the banana bread French toast fosters style. Super good and sweet. Stokes is still hitting it out of the park! We visited again a few times recently on a Friday night and on Sunday for Happy Hour - days when they were pretty busy - but it didn't hurt the service excellence at all. Our first server, Chelsea, was a rockstar! I didn't catch the name of our second server during the happy hour visit but she also excellent in the service department. On Friday night, we had the Queso to start and it was super flavorful and chock full of meat (pork) and creamy cheese - yum! I tried a new dish this visit - the Barbacoa Flautas. They were SO tasty, with tender meat filling, a mole sauce that was out of this world, and a hefty serving of guacamole on top. These flautas are HUGE, so bring your appetite or be prepared to ask for a to-go box. My husband had the Grilled Mango Salmon, and it was heavenly (I got to try a few bites). It was flaky, light, and perfectly cooked. Chelsea recommended swapping the side of potatoes with the steamed veggies, which turned out to be such a good tip. The vegetables were buttery and full of flavor - the Brussels Sprouts were my fave. Their happy hour is the absolute best I've had in town. We sat on the bar side with the TVs to watch a football game and tried a few HH items. The happy hour menu has some things that are on the normal menu but in smaller sizes (Aztec Nachos, Taquitos, etc) and a few things that aren't normally on the menu at all that I've seen. I got the Steak and Potato Flatbread off the happy hour menu, which I'd never seen on the normal menu. It was gigantic in height, with huge bits of tender steak, a cream cheese base, and crispy fries baked in. If you're drooling now, just let me also report that it was only $8! Definitely shareable between a few people too. My husband got the Cheese Nachos with House Salsas, and they were also super tasty with the mix of salsas and melted cheese. We had just had the queso dip on our previous visit, so he wanted to try a different cheesy nacho item. We shared the Birria Tacos and they were SO delish. The beef inside was well seasoned and of high quality (not stringy or bland), and the consommé for dipping added another fabulous flavor with each bite. And the last shared item we tried on the happy hour menu were the BBQ Chicken Sliders. They were two "sliders" and I put that in quotes because they were not slider size, they were much larger. The chicken was high quality, just like everything else - and the bbq sauce they used was tangy, sweet, and it worked amazingly well with the chicken. I also tried one of their drinks at happy hour, their own Stokes Ale. It was light, crisp, and extremely easy to sip. Definitely recommend! Happy hour is 3pm-6pm every day, and all day on Sundays, so definitely check that out for the mentioned items and more. We didn't try any dessert on these visits, and haven't gone during brunch yet - which means we'll have to make our way back soon (very soon!) Stokes has yet again incredibly impressed me, on both service, value, food quality, and ambiance. They lost their mojo. So sorry to share this review. Have not been here for a while and decided to swing in for brunch. Same menu, but a pretty complete change of staff. There were 3 of us. Ordered the blueberry pancakes, sausage omelette, and breakfast burrito. Burrito was ok. The omelette was over cooked. I think the final heat in the microwave did not pan out well. My wife had OJ and the pancakes. OJ was spoiled (way sour). The pancakes were raw in the middle. Not a good visit. Hope they can reflect and make some positive adjustments. read more

Second time here and everything has been great. First visit the lovely bartender informed me that by signing up for their club that happy hour is extended which I enjoy for the opportunity to try small portions of food for less! One of my favorite corn chowders is Stokes corn chowder. I used to go to Stokes in Old Market to get the corn chowder, and haven't had it is years. Recently I found myself out west, about a block away from Stokes, so I went in during happy hour 4-6 pm. I got a bowl of the corn chowder and enjoyed it greatly. . I got chips, guac and chorizo queso on the happy hour menu, and enjoyed these greatly. I also got birria tacos on the happy hour menu, and that was a pass for me because it was greasy with very little meat in it, and the flavor was overly cumin-y, watery and also a bit bitter. . My friend got a cheese burger from the regular menu, and it was exactly what she wanted. . Our wait staff was friendly and attentive. She is great. . The only problem is the dining room is a lot of hard surfaces, so it was super loud and hard to hear anything. The noise level was hurting my friend with hearing aids. read more

Solid spot. It's not a restaurant I typically crave but if I were rating on HH value alone, it would be 5 star. The HH menu offers a large variety of bites and drinks at unbelievably reasonable prices. It has a dark and moody vibe which is fun and there is ample seating in the bar. I have been to Stokes many times but it's been a long time. Not sure why, because everytime I come here I am absolutely satisfied. Delicious margs, appetizers, food, everything is good. The guac and chips were pretty good! A little more spicy than the average guac. The brisket taco was okay. The pico, cheese and everything was fine, but the brisket was bland. Could have definitely used some salt and/or a sauce. The steak and potato flatbread was super dense. The flatbread itself was buttery and crispy, and the cheese, sauce, pico, and potatoes were all good... but the brisket still was a let down. Stokes is a fun Tex-Mex adventure! When my husband and I went we had the most incredible server named Arthur. We were going to start off with some queso with a side of quac and ended up with two extra salsas! The red salsa was smokey (not my favorite but some people like it more smokey than hot). All of the dips were super fresh! The verde especially! SO many drink options! They even had a whisky flight which I might try next time...! I had their steak salad and it was very filling and delicious. However, there was a ton of dressing - I would order it on the side next time! The hubby got the shrimp pasta and he was also delighted with his order. This place could be a semi fancy date spot but there were also plenty of people who came in for a more casual hang. I haven't been here for years and I don't know why. I don't remember it being so good. Or maybe it has improved. My wonderful date and I both had the El Presidente margarita and it was delicious; large and smooth. I had a burrito and it was great. The plate was hot so the food was hot. Excellent beans and rice and the burrito was superb. The building is beautiful. It used to be Ted Turner's Montana Grill. The only problem is the wood floor and the ceiling. Noise just bounces around and it is very loud. My date - a very smart woman - suggested we sit next to each other in the booth. Problem solved. Added benefit was I could give her a quick smooch; which I did from time-to-time. It should be noted that the restaurant is next to the building that housed C & A Industries. We go to Stokes a couple times a month. We live in Iowa so it's about a 20 mile drive one way. Last night (we drove out after church) to enjoy our favorite meal there. We always split an order of Sharon's enchiladas. We were seated right away and within 30 seconds of being seated, Sarah, our waitress, greeted us and says, "the usual?" We were amazed that she remembered us and she went on to say that we were some of her favorite customers. While this conversation was going on they had a patron who experienced a medical emergency in the next room over. When the dust settled 15 minutes later, the EMT's had arrived and removed the patron. Sarah was pulled from our table to help with other needed chores but she passed us off to another young lady who did a super job of meeting our needs. We look forward to the next experience at Stokes and our compliments to the manager and staff for the way they handled the disruption and made everyone feel calm and appreciated. We ordered dinner last night. Apparently one of the entrees was out of stock. I guess they send an email to let you know this....Who checks their email after you've placed a dinner order? The order was delivered without the entree for the person who just was released from the hospital. I called the restaurant and they blamed it on Door Dash. Also, I would not order the Guacamole for $19.50! Barely 1/4 OF A CUP! BUT they send an entire large take out box of the CHIPS! some of them were soggy.....Certainly not worth $19.50! Thats almost the price of an entree.,, the person. said...."Well, that's our order of Guacamole!" hardly an apology. Stokes has been a favorite of mine for nearly a decade. The appetizer of mushroom enchiladas is typically my entrée of choice, but noticed during a recent takeout experience that is no longer available. However, they do offer mushroom and steak enchiladas as a meal, which I ordered and per usual, it did not disappoint. Chips and guac are typically in the rotation as an appetizer as well. While execution is typically spot on, Stokes can miss the mark from time to time. During our most recent experience we ordered bacon wrapped jalapeños and they were so hot they were inedible. My husband has a high tolerance for heat and even he couldn't handle it. If looking for high quality southwestern food in Omaha, Stokes would be near the top of the list. I met friends for lunch on 06.12.24 at Stokes. Not only did I have a wonderful time with dear friends, the service was great & the food was delicious. I had the Cabo San Taco. Delicious, just as I remembered. Others in the group had soup, appetizers &/or the salmon salad. The only issue is how loud it was, they were about half full & it was hard to hear. Keep in mind our group ranges in age from 55 to 90, hearing doesn't improve with age. I haven't visited Stokes for quite some time, mostly because I rarely dine out. My once a month lunch, where we try to frequent locally owned mom & pop restaurants. If I'm lucky, I get to go out once or twice more. I recommend you give Stokes a try or if you're like me go see them again soon, I plan to do exactly that. read more
