Stopped in here on a bike ride down 24th St. for some tacos. Inside area is very small (and closed for the obvious reasons currently). It was clean and the service was friendly, with many drink options and complimentary chips. Only ding I would give was that I have had better quality meat at other 24th st. establishments. I went with Al pastor, asada, and tripas. All served in the standard corn tortillas with fresh cilantro and onion . As I said, just not the best quality meat. Chips and salsa were delicious, and the Mexican Coke is always great. Overall, I would return, these are quality authentic street tacos, if that's what you're looking for!

For tacos, 2.5. This was stop #2 on the 2015 taco tour, an event organized annually by local yelper Sarah G. First, setting: I dont ask for much when dining in smaller Mexican joints on 24th street, so my expectations were met just fine here. Clean tables, friendly staff and a glass of ice water with A/C is good in my book. Not much ambiance, but for a trip down south 24th street, pretty much a standard setting. A few families and friends eating, and I noticed we were definitely in the minority, not being Hispanic--great! I am all for eating where the locals dine. Tacos (didn't try other menu items as it was a taco tour): Standard double corn tortilla with the meat, onions, cilantro and (no lime wedge). I could have asked for one I am sure, but they are often offered with the tacos, so I didn't bother. Complimentary chips with orders, nothing to rave about, a few salsa options. The salsa offered here is more of a fully blended liquid sauce variety [not chunky] served in syrup dispensers and I think just sit on the table so not the kind of salsa that requires chilling. Don't quote me on that one, but that is what it seems like to me. Green and red verde were options with the complimentary chips. The tacos themselves were fine, but in my opinion with so many places around to choose from, not my number 1. This is probably due to the meat, which was lacking in flavor to me, although texture was great.

Found this little gem in South O. It is as authentic as you will find. As you can see from the pic, the burrito was muy grande. It come with sour cream (not my fav), but the meat and everything packed inside was absolutely delicious! I took the rest home. The beef inside was chunks, not ground, a big plus in my book. The tacos were also delicious. You have many choices for filling from chicken, chorizo, beef, and beef toungue and either a corn or flour tortilla. The price of these beef tacos were less than $2 each. The service was very quick and friendly. The size of the restaurant is quite small, but aren't many hole-in-the-wall places with great food?

Great authentic Mexican food. Our kids all love the asada tacos & rice. Nice staff in a cozy little space. Great prices, we had a light lunch for 6 for $40

1 pastor 1 asada taco. Stop 2 of the taco tour!

Stopped by here with the 2015 Taco Tour crew. The exterior is a little unassuming on the outside, but if you're in the area, El Ranchito is worth a visit if you haven't been before (and yes I know there are dozens of locally lauded taquerias nearby). Now the interior was a bit cramped with perhaps one-too-many tables, complete with vinyl table clothes. Still, you could tell this was a mom-and-pop establishment that was dedicated to serving up affordable and delicious Mexican food. Seeing as we were on a taco tour, I order up one asada and one pastor taco. Both were pretty average and in line with what you'd expect from a run-of-the-mill taco joint in South Omaha. A a postscript note, seeing Lianna N's pic of the cheek taco makes me think I should've been a bit more adventurous. They also serve you complimentary chips and salsa and have dried peppers for you to sprinkle on your food if you dare. In all, a worthy spot for a quick meal.

Homemade mexican food, cozy place and great service. Even though it's a small place, there's a big variety. Just don't expect anything fancy. This is where you'd come for an authentic mexican meal. Be warned, the portions are big!

It's super cute inside, with so many bright colors, neat Día de los Muertos murals along the walls, colorful pendants strung on top of the dining area, and a very cool bar with a patterned, arched shelves. Even the dishes and cups are fabulous, with earthenware mugs, blue Talavera style dishes and bowls, and even branded El Milagro margarita glasses. Now more importantly, the FOOD is just as good as the decor and the dishware. They use extra high quality ingredients, and everything is always served hot and fresh. We have had the birria, nachos, street tacos, flautas, and so many other things when we branch out and try something new. Their drink options are also great, with strong margaritas, crisp cervesas, and tasty cocktails. The service is always fantastic, and they are always hopping with customers, so you know you found a good spot. Best of all, you get pretty large portions, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the newer Mexican restaurants in town. Next time you're thinking about heading to the Texas Roadhouse area, skip the Roadhouse and try El Milagro instead! I guarantee you will not regret your decision.

However, unlike other Mexican restaurants you do have to pay for additional salsa. I went with a house margarita and the benveza beer, and both were good and cold. I went with the steak picaditas. I hadn't had them before but they were similar to a torta, except the base is a very thick corn tortilla. I like the flavor of the steak, tortilla, sour cream and veggies combined. My husband got the birria platter and liked it. It's very similar to Javi's birria. Overall everything was good.

This last visit they had the entire restaurant decorated for Valentine's Day coming up. But, besides the additional decorations the overall vibe is what you would expect for a Mexican restaurant but more. The service has been friendly and fast! The original Margarita is very good and for the price its about 3 servings. The complementary chips & salsa is great and more of a forgotten service nowadays, but great to see that Alegre is still doing it. The homemade tortilla chips are so good so be careful to not fill up on these before the main entrees. Kendra got the Chile Verde which was massive and was enough food for leftovers the next day. And, I had the Ceviche Sampler which is new and definitely worth every penny! It's hard to find restaurants that have ceviche on the menu, but this has been one of my favorites if you love seafood and a repeater for me! If your looking for more of an upscale $$ Mexican restaurant with great food, service and ambiance it's hard to beat El Muchacho Alegre.

The menu is full of classic and traditional Mexican cuisine. I tried the pollo Puebla and it was pretty good! Thick, juicy chicken covered in fresh veggies. The beans were good, the rice was decent. The place is very large and open, so you don't feel like you're walking on top of others and can have conversations without feeling like you need to yell to be heard or whisper to not be overheard. Their chips and salsa were delicious. Salsa is house made and the chips are fried to order. You get a first basket for free, but the second we had to pay for- be aware. Their tacos are amazing. I had three street tacos and then two basic hard and soft tacos. I started with the basics, and was very impressed. The meat was nice and flavorful and somehow seemed....soft? I was initially bummed looking at them because I thought "just lettuce and meat?" But there's some fantastic cheese hidden under the lettuce. The shells were the perfect soft and a crunch. I would love to just have a few of these for the meal and be good! I had the three street tacos- steak, pastor, and carnitas. I was pleased with all three! They were flavorful, moist, and the shells were once again perfect. I very much enjoyed the steak and they had just the right amount of crisp with all of the flavor. You can tell that all of these were made fresh to order. Their house margs were wonderful. They weren't too sweet and you got more than you imagined. When we got the bill, it's noted that there's a discount if you pay with cash, but no added fee for paying with a card; so keep that in mind.
