This is our FAVORITE spot to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Everything is sooo good!

This is our favorite spot to come! Everything is good!!!! The food and service are always 10/10

American (sour cream based) or Mexican (salsa based) guac.

This place is legit. If you're looking for real deal Mexican this is it. First- They have both Coke and Pepsi products (score) and offer American and Mexican guac for example. The tamale was soooo good. Fluffy and tasty masa. Other dishes proclaimed yummy. Their salsa is amazing-chopped chiles and seasonings and chips were great! Not too thin and not too thick. When you drive up or walk in you may over think it but don't. Stay and enjoy!

I LOVE IT!!!! I've been to every Mexican place in CB, and this one takes the cake! I love how cheap it is, and the salsa and chips are to die for. The service is so fast, and the servers are so friendly! This will forever have a hand on my heart, I come here frequently with my friends, and they love it aswell, I've recommended this place to multiple friends, and they crave it! Thank you La Carreta Rosa!

The food was much better than I expected when walking in. It is a small place and probably mostly does takeout. There seemed to be one person working as a waiter who was quite but very nice.

Inside restaurant, delicious salsa and ice-cold Modelo Negra

Good, honest Mexican food in a small, local restaurant. Reasonably priced and friendly service. Loved their horchata, salsa and carnitas!

Incredibly good food and wonderful service. Authentic Mexican street food. Both my wife and I have been slowly exploring the entire menu. Everything has been exceptional. The made to order guacamole is just the very best. The bistec Mexicana and Ranchero are both great introductory menu items. The service, no matter how busy has always been fast, friendly and on point. Just a great little place with great food, great prices and great service.

Main dining room - fairly small - about 12 tables

Looking to try different Mexican restaurants and saw this little place across the river in Council Bluffs. Restaurant is in one of the old store fronts. Very limited seating. One Waitress covering everyone and only one to two in the kitchen. This appears to be solely a family operated business. Waitress was very friendly and invited us to sit down at an unclean table and someone from the kitchen came out and cleaned things off and passed us menus. There is a daily special, but the menu is also has a decent selection. Complimentary chips and salsa are brought to the table. The salsa is outstanding. My wife and I could drink this stuff. Spicy with a bit of a kick with a hint of sweetness, This is some of the best we have tasted anywhere around. We ordered cheese enchiladas and street tacos. Enchiladas came out smoking hot and were tasty with a good red sauce on top on them. Tried the beef, pork and shrimp street tacos. All were good sized with plenty of filling and were tasty, but the absolute best was the shrimp. I would go here just to eat the shrimp tacos - very good. Prices were very reasonable and we enjoyed our meal. A place we want to eat at again.

7 Mares

I rarely write reviews, but this place is AMAZING!!! The tacos are very good and their valid "7 Mares" is amazing!!!!! Good for a hangover! MUST TRY if you're in the area!!!!!

I work in Council Bluffs and like to try out the local places. Not only is this probably the best Mexican food in CB, I bet it is one of the best Mexican cafes in the Omaha area. My litmus test is the tamale. The pork tamale arrived wrapped in a corn husk, the filling was the perfect combo of flavor and heat, and the masa was pretty good, maybe a little drier than I like, but that depends on how long ago the tamale was steamed. (I know this because I have made them myself.) Nice service, standard rice, refried beans, and salad, homemade tortilla chips and a decent salsa, I will be back to eat my way thru the menu.

Mexitli Restaurant - Birria tacos

Honestly so good, and some of the most unique and authentic options of any place I've been. They…read morehave a cute set up for photos and it's so bright and cheery inside! The service was fantastic, and it felt like a true family restaurant. The chips were so good, and the salsa was spicy but not too much for people with sensitive palates. I love this style of chips, not a thin restaurant style but a thicker, more savory bite. We went through one portion before our food got to us and they brought more out when I asked. I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways! I also got the taco macho (see the pic for what's inside), and wish I would've ordered 2 of those! My husband got the huitlacoche and squash blossom tacos and they were both so good. I was so impressed they had huitlacoche as an option, I've never seen that before! The drinks were ordered and delivered from the server, but she said since they're working on a liquor license they have a bar next door that makes them. If you order a drink with your food, they charge for the drinks and food separate for that reason. I liked my jalapeño margarita! My husband got a cantarito and said it's the best one he's had from all the places we've tried to far!

Wandered into Mexitili spur of the moment because they were open for lunch on Memorial Day and I…read morewas in the area. The streetcar boondoggle is not affecting their block so parking is available. Decor is calming. I did not opt for an adult beverage as they were a bit pricey and I needed to retain focus. Settled on chicken enchiladas. Very tasty with some kick. The cheese was drizzled on top rather than baked through. Service was exceptionally friendly, I suspect from the bartender/proprietor. Would definitely return if in the area, but for now I am generally avoiding streetcar construction chaos. If you are downtown anyway, go.
