Seasoned Chicken Torta Lettuce, beans, avocado, and seasoned chicken.
    Libby S.

Ordered a red tamal (options are green or red). It was so good! Like my mom used to make. Fought over bites of it with my husband. Also ordered chicken torta, American taco (beef) and a Taco tilapia. Food disappeared too fast for pics of tacos. I ate a bite of my torta before I remembered to take a picture. So so happy! Definitely authentic and definitely worth a trip! We will be returning for more soon!

The food here is incredible and the owners are just the sweetest! I don't know why this place isn't packed. It's like if you went to your grandma's house and had dinner. Everything we ate was so delicious. I had the mole and an al pastor taco. My husband had the carne asada, and my friend tried a taco, Gordita and a quesadilla. We all got aguas. My husband and I the tamarindo and my friend had the Jamaica. I really think this is now my favorite Mexican restaurant. I can't wait to go back and try their posole!

Excellent food. Very fresh and authentic. The service and ambiance are great as well. Cute patio when the weather is right. We tried the morcajete recently and it was amazing.

    Red and green pozole

I saw a Facebook post from Tixteco today; Pozole Thursday, and the picture looked amazing so I convinced my friends to join me (this was not difficult, they had also seen the picture). I tell you - we were not disappointed. You can choose red, green, or white, with pork or chicken. The owner was friendly and I knew immediately it was going to be good, because it's obvious she CARES. About the food, the customers, the staff, everything. We asked about the soups; I think that she said that the green wasn't very hot and the red really wasn't too hot. Well, I got the red, and obviously it's hot, right? You can even tell just looking at the picture! It's just not TOO hot. But be aware that if you want low spice, go for the white pozole. So delicious! Comes with a little plate of toppings and she also brought out a little plate of flautas for us, she said they are the ones she makes for her staff. These were the best flautas I have ever had! So it was a really special meal, and you know I love it when they start it with a basket of chips and a couple squeeze bottles of delicious and hot house-made salsa. This is the good stuff...all of it was the good stuff.

    The best Caldo de Res

We stopped on our way from Colorado to Chicago and found this gem in the middle of our trip. We stopped at 8pm and were the only ones in the restaurant, but we still got a very good service and the best tasting Mexican food. Found out that the owners are from Chicago as well, so that explains the quality of the food. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat a good authentic Mexican dish.

In from out of town, needed some breakfast. Didn't want to wait the hour and a half on a Sunday morning for a certain breakfast club across town. Big thanks to the barista at Archetype for the neighborhood recommendation. We swung right over, sat down, had a very nice server take care of us, and in short order, had two piping hot plates of huevos rancheros in front of us. So good. And I'm guessing our check was... Substantially less... Than some hip, trendy destination brunch spot. Would definitely eat here again!

Good food, friendly service and the fruit smoothie was to die for. Found this gem on referral from friends and was not disappointed. Pleased to see they serve breakfast as well.

    Beef Tongue Torta
    Michelle M.

This place has a great website. It's very easy to order online and go pick it up. The food was ready on time and staff was friendly. I would like to go back and try a free more items. I tried the Beef Tongue Torta sandwich along with a bowl of fresh fruit. The portions were definitely large. The Torta sandwich was very good. The bottom layer of the sandwich was refried beans. I've never had beans on a Torta before, but I liked it. This was followed by lettuce, tomato, and guacamole. The beef tongue was tender, slightly salty, but the salt blended well when eaten with the rest of the sandwich. The side of fruit was Huge! It had oranges, mango, grapes and green apples in it, so it was citrusy and tart. It went well with the sandwich. I am eager to go back and try the Menudo!

It's super cute inside, with so many bright colors, neat Día de los Muertos murals along the walls, colorful pendants strung on top of the dining area, and a very cool bar with a patterned, arched shelves. Even the dishes and cups are fabulous, with earthenware mugs, blue Talavera style dishes and bowls, and even branded El Milagro margarita glasses. Now more importantly, the FOOD is just as good as the decor and the dishware. They use extra high quality ingredients, and everything is always served hot and fresh. We have had the birria, nachos, street tacos, flautas, and so many other things when we branch out and try something new. Their drink options are also great, with strong margaritas, crisp cervesas, and tasty cocktails. The service is always fantastic, and they are always hopping with customers, so you know you found a good spot. Best of all, you get pretty large portions, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the newer Mexican restaurants in town. Next time you're thinking about heading to the Texas Roadhouse area, skip the Roadhouse and try El Milagro instead! I guarantee you will not regret your decision.

However, unlike other Mexican restaurants you do have to pay for additional salsa. I went with a house margarita and the benveza beer, and both were good and cold. I went with the steak picaditas. I hadn't had them before but they were similar to a torta, except the base is a very thick corn tortilla. I like the flavor of the steak, tortilla, sour cream and veggies combined. My husband got the birria platter and liked it. It's very similar to Javi's birria. Overall everything was good.

My son was pleased with his Cuban Torta and my husband liked the carnitas. The biggest plus was the serving size of every dish was enough for 2 meals for most people. The original Margarita is very good and for the price its about 3 servings. The complementary chips & salsa is great and more of a forgotten service nowadays, but great to see that Alegre is still doing it. The homemade tortilla chips are so good so be careful to not fill up on these before the main entrees. Kendra got the Chile Verde which was massive and was enough food for leftovers the next day. And, I had the Ceviche Sampler which is new and definitely worth every penny! It's hard to find restaurants that have ceviche on the menu, but this has been one of my favorites if you love seafood and a repeater for me!
