Our servers bilingual capability reflects the clientele that are attracted to this wonderful spot. Great chips, nice fresh salsa with a little bit of heat and very good guacamole. I love the fact that they offer a little bit smaller portions so that you don't end up feeling like you have to stuff yourself or leave a little bit behind. The pricing is great and clearly beer and margaritas are readily available. There is even a corner of the restaurant that caters to Mexican style snacks. Great desserts too! This is quite possibly the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had in my life. We ordered several items…read moreand not a single thing was good. Where do I even start? "Big Tacos" - these aren't big at all. They're basically the size of Taco Bell's small hardshell tacos, except almost twice the price and half the quality. The ground beef was dry and bland. The shells had the same texture, consistency, and flavor that you'd find in a cheap box of DIY shells from ALDI, except worse. "Rolled Tacos" - these are taquitos. Just call them what they are. Again, the meat was dry and bland. Tasted like it came out of a pre-made frozen box that they sprinkled some shredded cheese on before heating up. "Cheese Quesdilla" - this was 100% just straight up microwaved. At no point did the tortillas touch a hot pan. To add insult to injury, they put sour cream INSIDE the quesadilla before microwaving it, causing the sour cream to become hot, broken down, and of course making the microwaved quesadilla even soggier. Apparently no one told them sour cream is supposed to be a COLD condiment. The best part about our visit was the drive thru, which wasn't great, either. The person repeated our order wrong no fewer than 3 times at the speaker, and again no fewer than 3 times at the window. The person wasn't rude or unfriendly by any means; just seemed like their manager set them up to fail by providing little to no training for the role.

The enchiladas i would give a 3, chicken was almost smoky flavored, tender. Seemed to be dark meat. The enchiladas sauce through was really tangy, almost vinegary, not good. On the side was rice and beans. The rice was average and the beans a bit below average. I usually look forward to the beans at places like this so when they aren't very good, that's memorable to me. The pico, tomatoes and lettuce didn't seem fresh. The guac was really good. The chips were amazingly good and crisp. The salsa was fresh and tasty and very hot, but not too great for dipping. I put a lot on my meals. To drink, there was fountain soda(a south o rarity) and I tried the jicama juice which was fresh and good. Overall, I may try this place again on another day to see if some of the freshness was an anomaly. I won't get the enchiladas again. Would like to give their gorditas and tacos a try.

It was not especially busy or crowded when I went around 1pm on a Sunday. They did not wait tables here, instead you order when you first enter and then seat yourself. As a result, many of the tables could've used a good wipe down when we came in, but maybe they had just finished with the lunch rush. They have a very extensive menu with some unique dishes that not every Mexican restaurant offers. The staff was friendly and politely answered our questions. I was surprised that they had a mini salsa bar with chips sitting out, it was a good alternative to not giving out free chips since there isn't a wait staff. It was a neat concept, but the chips didn't seem quite as fresh as I would normally prefer. I ordered the steak quesadilla and was pleasantly surprised by the size. I certainly took half of it home to munch on later. The flavor and quality was good overall. My friend enjoyed her California burrito, which was extremely large. She also was pleasant surprised by their fountain drink pricing. Great value overall. I don't know if I'd come back here for a Mexican restaurant night out with friends, but it is certainly a good quick option (they also have a drive-through), for a high value lunch or takeout!

I had a hard friendly chicken enchilada, and they took chicken tortilla, wrapped it up. Put some cheese on it and nuke it to the point where the cheese was just crust embedded in the plate. There was no flavor no lettuce, no tomato no sauce nothing it was just awful. Another person in our group had a face heater salad which looked pretty good but she said it was horrible. She didn't even eat it. It was just sad and it's expensive for one plain chicken enchilada. It was 12 bucks and that's ridiculous. I mean there's no rice no beans no nothing. But my husband had always liked…read morethem when they'd catered into his work (years ago) - so I acquiesced when he requested to go there for old time's sake. The ambiance is rather dated, with a very 70s feel to the place. That may be what they're going for, but it didn't put me at ease that the meal would be spectacular. We were seated next to the bar which was straight out of Goodfellas. We could hear every conversation the bartender was having with his regular guests, so it was definitely good eavesdropping material. Our server was fine, there were no complaints there. We started with the Queso Blanco dip, and while it tasted alright, it was pretty similar to the queso blanco Velveeta cheese we bought a few weeks before at the grocery store. It had no "cheese pull" when you dipped your chip in and out, so I suspect it WAS the same Velveeta. I had the Mexican Pot Roast street tacos, on the recommendation of our server. I was not a fan of these in the slightest. The meat was in huge gigantic chunks and very very dry (I almost choked on the dryness at one point). I had to add some of the Velveeta queso to it to even be able to eat any more. The beans and rice saved this one in whatever way a side dish can. The rice was flavorful, almost like a Spanish Rice. The beans were tasty and were absolutely covered with shredded cheese. Mixing the two together in each bite was a good choice. My husband got his old favorite from his previous experiences - the #5, a two enchilada plate. He had it with beef and said it wasn't as great as he remembered, that maybe they changed the recipe a little. I had a few bites and did enjoy the tortilla by itself (no meat) with the enchilada sauce that pooled on the plate. Fernando's is not inexpensive in the slightest, so I can't recommend it to anyone, based on that either. If you want some semi-okay Tex Mex at a pretty big up charge, then give Fernando's a try. I just think you can get a lot more authentic Mexican (for a lot cheaper) elsewhere in Omaha.
