I've lived less than 5 minutes from this place and finally decided to give it a try! Parking was easy in a dedicated lot. It was not especially busy or crowded when I went around 1pm on a Sunday. They did not wait tables here, instead you order when you first enter and then seat yourself. As a result, many of the tables could've used a good wipe down when we came in, but maybe they had just finished with the lunch rush. They have a very extensive menu with some unique dishes that not every Mexican restaurant offers. The staff was friendly and politely answered our questions. I was surprised that they had a mini salsa bar with chips sitting out, it was a good alternative to not giving out free chips since there isn't a wait staff. It was a neat concept, but the chips didn't seem quite as fresh as I would normally prefer. I ordered the steak quesadilla and was pleasantly surprised by the size. I certainly took half of it home to munch on later. The flavor and quality was good overall. My friend enjoyed her California burrito, which was extremely large. She also was pleasant surprised by their fountain drink pricing. Great value overall. I don't know if I'd come back here for a Mexican restaurant night out with friends, but it is certainly a good quick option (they also have a drive-through), for a high value lunch or takeout! read more

Great food. Always hot and well prepared! Plenty of food for the price! Quality of food is good also!

I've eaten at Abelardo's multiple times at both Bellevue locations. Unfortunately, my experiences at the one on Avery Rd have pretty lack luster and even bad recently. I didn't think you could mess up a bean and cheese burrito. Turns out, if you put a hug gob of cold cheese in the middle of it to the point it makes the beans cold and essentially leaves you eating cold shredded cheese with a bean sauce on the side, you can in fact mess up a bean and cheese burrito. Twice I've ordered lengua tacos and been given steak instead. If the steak wasn't pure gristle, I likely would not have been as sad about this as I was. The last time this happened they didn't give me any radish either. I'm hoping that doesn't mean they will stop giving radish with the street tacos as I do like that flavor combination. Lastly, they frequently give me random drinks rather than the pina drink. It was understandable when they gave me a pineapple Jaritto. But I was really confused when they gave what I think was Jicama. I am not a native Spanish speaker. The language barrier is very much a factor in the issues I've had. My interactions with staff have been standard for fast food service. No one outright rude but clearly they are trying to get through the shift. I'm not faulting them. I've been there. I'm not sure why anyone would go here for how it looks. Unless semi grimy drive through is your jam. Overall, I'll probably be back because there currently isn't a better option close by. If that were to change, I would likely take my business elsewhere. read more

I'm super sad to give them 3 stars. I absolutely love Abelardo's. I go here knowing things could get messed up but this week I was so sad. (Side note if they do ever mess up it's never this crazy and never something I won't eat) We got some birria tacos. No onion or cilantro. It came with a lot of cilantro. So went back and got it remade. Now normally I'd just keep it and take it off but there was enough where I couldn't eat it. Get the new ones back and it was the queso birria tacos. When we got the normal ones. Now that's not a big deal. But I opened them and one little just had fat and no meat and there wasn't even that much of anything but cheese in it. Then the others had barely any meet in there as well. So basically super sad because I was starving. Their queso is tiny for the price. And my husband opened his tacos and he ordered chicken but got beef. All in all normally I would say their birria tacos are the best in Omaha. I literally can't find ones where I love so much like I do there's. read more

Normally I don't have any issues with Abelardo's at this location, but last time ordered from here, let's just say my food was "screwed" up. As I was picking up a fork-ful of fries, a screw fell out. Thankfully I did not bite into it as i definitely could have chipped a tooth. Like I said, I normally don't have any issues at this location, but unfortunately this is deterring me from coming here for a while. read more

It's been a few years since I ate here because I moved away. I stopped in to get a burrito that I used to get frequently. They increased the price to almost $13 for a burrito. I got the pollo asado burrito and all they did is stuff it with rice and a lot of beans. Very little meat was included and previous times it did not have either rice or beans in the burrito. read more

On a night when cooking is just not in the cards, Abelardo's saves the night. Never had a bad meal here and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. Try their "sauce bar"! Seems to always be made fresh as it tastes a little different every time we come here. Definitely fast food without the feel of being rushed. The restaurant is always clean and well taken care off. We made this place a staple for taco Tuesdays and any other night we want lots of food that tastes great. read more

Decent food with great quantities but lacking in the flavor department. This is the type of place you go to after a night out or if you're craving Mexican food later in the day and nothing else is open besides Taco Bell and you find the drive to 24th street no worth it. Their asada and chorizo plates are really good, but most of my friends love their loaded fries. Burritos are pretty good and tacos are okay. I wouldn't recommend their Al Pastor. Their drinks are pretty good and I usually get the horchata. Service is relatively quick, but I've only ever been through their drive-thru. read more

13.00 dollars for a burrito and skimped on the meat. Burrito was so small felt like a kids meal.

Abelardo's sure satisfies my late night cravings! I often drive by abelardos on my way home from work and I almost always have to stop by. I often come by this location and all i can say is that there is quick service and the employees are great with their recommendations! read more

Abelardo's is a decent Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant chain that has a lot of locations here in Omaha. Decided to try out the Bellevue location on Avery Rd which used to be a Taco John's a long while back. I got 2 carne asada tacos with some beans & rice as well as a tostada. I'm happy to say that everything turned out to be satisfactory. Tostada was crispy & bore lots of great flavors. Beans and rice are good, and the carne asada tacos were definitely a good eat; I like how they're covered in a layer of guacamole sauce, which also goes good with the carne asada tortas that they have here. This Abelardo's location is a pretty good one so I definitely recommend it. read more

Came in and ordered burrito, tacos and a combo plate. They were busy busy. I was impressed by the lady at the register. I have ate at this location approximately four times. Generally I go inside and order, but this time it was a Friday night and I decided to go through the Drive-Thru. Sometimes that is easier with the COVID situation. There were quite a few cars in the Drive-Thru, but it really did not take that long. From the time I ordered to the time I got my food it was maybe 4 minutes at the most. It was very fast and my food was very hot. This time I ordered the Chicken Fajita, and I have to say this is the best dish that I've ordered from this location. It came with stir fried chicken, onions, green peppers, and tomatoes. They give you a rolled up tortilla as well. The beans and rice were very good. To me this place is most similar to De Leon's. De Leon's has a slight advantage over them in authenticity, plus De Leon's offers Menudo and this place does not. For fast Mexican food though, this is way better than Taco Bell, hands down! I would recommend this place for fast bite of Mexican food. The staff are always very professional at this location. I will definitely return! read more

fantastic service great food really fresh and everyth is good everything!!! you have to check this place out

This is my first review I've ever written and I'm not the one to type of review but I've about had it with this place. I order "a steak burrito with just steak and nothing else" everytime I come to this establishment. And 4 times in a row they have given me everything but my burrito. I've gotten a breakfast burrito before, a chicken spicy burrito before, etc. I understand when it's busy that you may mix up orders but when I'm the only one in line and you seem to mix up my one order of just steak and tortilla burrito it get kinda ridiculous. Then I proceed to drive back and ask for my right burrito and I am greeted with a very rude cashier. She proceeded to say "so do you want your money back or what do you want me to do" after I told her that this hasn't been the first time. I asked for a manager and she turn around proceeded to not speak in English then turned and said "yeah he left you can speak with him tomorrow morning at 9 am if you'd like" thank for the advice! Would not recommend at all. read more

Ridiculous. We got to the point where we were ordering. right off the bat the worker said 'can i help you' in a very disrespectful rude manor. we ordered a #22 & #24. got to the window to find out we were charged for a #22 but received a #24. only got one meal. then asked politely to the employee (the same one that took our order) if they could make the missing part of our order which was a #22. the employees response was to roll his eyes very over exaggeratingly then proceeded to tell us with an attitude we had to go back around & order & wait another 30 minutes because they do not know how to efficiently run this buisness when there's only 3 cars in the drive thru. read more

I've had their food a few times and really enjoyed it. I wanted to grab something to eat after work tonight and tried to call ahead and didn't get an answer. I believed the billboard and the reviews, shouldn't have. I know both American Mexican and authentic Mexican, this was neither and you could do much better at home with a frozen burrito. And the 5 for $5 taco Tuesday is to be avoided. Ate there yesterday and they were nearly inedible. Cheese was not fresh, chicken smelled and tasted like tuna fish, beef was cooked like four times and nearly jerky. Pico de gallo was plentiful but had an alarming twang to it (maybe they added something to it to keep it fresh, but your mouth just says no). I know what you will say, you get what you pay for, but I paid $5 and got less. I heard their carne asada is okay but when I opened to see inside burrito, it was very basic. Just no, go somewhere else. I question the veracity of the other reviews. Free chips was the best part. read more

I give this place 4 stars for the burritos. The tortilla was fresh, not soggy, and the burrito was huge. The beans and rice reminded me of what you get in San Antonio. Definitely recommend this place if you're on a budget and definitely would tell anyone to go through Abelardo's driveway over Taco Bell's (gross) for fast Mexican food and Chipotle. The meat quality is better over TB and the burritos have the homemade feel. I couldn't finish my plate like I usually do because the burrito was so filling. I will be back to try the tacos and breakfast. read more

I like having a Abelardo's location closer to our neighborhood. We were very excited to try and we're not disappointed. The only critique I have is that everything was a bit more on the salty side but I think that's something that can be fixed. Staff didn't seem too excited to be working that day, we were the only ones in the location when we went but I'm voting on taste and appearance and that was as expected. Upside to being the only ones there - it was very clean. read more

The newest Abelardo's is on the SW corner of Galvin and Avery roads in Bellevue. I've been wanting to try Abelardos for years. I heard it was good. I heard wrong! The refried beans were fair, but the enchilada and taco were both so salty as to make them nearly inedible. Furthermore, the enchilada sauce was as runny as water. To top this experience off, the staff was totally rude. There are too many good Mexican eateries in Omaha for anyone to have to put up with this crap. The only saving grace: they have a drive-thru. But I'll never be hungry enough for that to make me come here again. read more

I absolutely love their tacos. I made the mistake the first time of ordering tacos off the regular menu. And that was really expensive on Tuesday when I was expecting to pay five dollars for five tacos. I now know that it's only for their regular tacos that can come fried, hard , or soft. But there Al Pastor tacos and their other varieties of other tacos are also amazing just more expensive. I also love their hot sauce as both the green and the red. read more

Extremely rude service today! This was my family's third time coming here and we have had a good experience in the past, but we just left the drive thru and are very disappointed. We ordered 2 burritos, a side of beans for our daughter and an horchata. When we got our order, we noticed we were missing our drink, so my husband asked for that. Then, I looked in the bag and saw that my daughter's beans weren't in there and he asked about those. When we asked about the beans, she said we had only ordered the burritos, essentially accusing us of lying. She was very mean about it. So we had nothing for our baby to eat and had to go to Wendy's down the street. We are polite people and would have been happy had she just given us our beans. If she didn't add them onto our ticket, we would have paid for them. But she was so rude to accuse us of lying, we just left. We won't be going back. read more

DO NOT EAT ANY FOOD FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! A coworker went there for lunch (got the food to go) and as he was eating his taco, he noticed some insect legs sticking out of the taco. He opened his taco and found a whole bug in his taco!!! I myself have been to this restaurant a few times and more often than not, they mess up the food order...especially if you go to the drive thru.
