I'm already looking forward to the next time we can come down here! This place was so good! We stopped during the CWS and World Cup to get some food and step out of the sun. We had driven past here a few times and it's on our list, so if you haven't been make sure you do! The food was served hot and fresh, nice and quick as well! The Pina colada was fantastic and all I want to do is sit and have another drink out in the sun! Our server was fantastic as well. They helped us figure out what we would want to try and everything was soooooo good!
Last minute change in plans led me to Elie's, and I'm so glad it worked out that way. It was a gray and windy day in Omaha, but as soon as I walked in the door of Elie's it was like stepping into a little slice of island life. The interior is bright, yet welcoming. The music is invigorating and uplifting. The mood was set and I couldn't wait to try out the food. While everything sounded tasty, I went with the tostones with shrimp and a guanabana drink. I arrived during lunch time on a Friday, so my food came out pretty quickly. The tostones were hot and crispy, the shrimp garlicky and juicy. The guanabana drink was sweet and the serving generous. Both definitely hit the spot. The service was great in the beginning, but there was a change in servers during my meal and they appeared to have forgotten about me. Closing out the bill took longer than I expected and felt like I waiting around to leave. Overall, I would consider returning since the food was really good and would recommend others to check this place out.
I came in to try this well spoken restaurant in downtown Omaha. Atmosphere was very cute and tropical. I had to park on the street since they don't have much parking. The server was charismatic and helpful when it came to questions on the menu and drinks. Not in the photos which I tried: "parcha" / passion fruit drink. Highly recommend. Food took a while to arrive. We were a party of three. The Queso Fresco Frito (Fried Cheese) was yummy and the sauce was recommended by the server. It was a sweet sauce and the fried cheese balls went well with it. The photo with the Puerto Rican flag is mofongo. This was different and out of my comfort zone but it was filling and I had enough to take some in a to go box. Overall, great experience. I hope they had more parking spaces on their lot.
You have to come here! We absolutely loved everything we had, and it's authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. We came after a CWS game and they had specials available along with their regular menu. Our server was the kindest person and I loved talking with her! Since it wasn't too busy, the food was out quick and we had a choice of seating while watching the soccer game. We opted for piña coladas to drink, mine NA due to the drinks from the rest of the day (CWS hello), but Sam got his with rum and both were great! I loved all the coconutty flavor in it. We ordered the tripleta empanadillas, which were a special for CWS, normally they just have the tripleta sandwich. It was cheesy, crispy, and meaty. We got the Puerto Rican hot dogs, topped with beef, sautéed onions, sauerkraut, cheese, mayo ketchup, and crunchy potato sticks. So, so good and perfect for baseball season!! Sam got a PR tres leches cake for his birthday that day and I got fried cheese (queso frito) with guava sauce. We couldn't have liked anything more, it was all so good! They have fun events too, our server was telling us all about them, so check their socials for info!
We came here on a Thursday night to celebrate my mom's birthday and had such a great time. The staff was amazing and made sure we felt taken care of the entire evening. The decor and ambiance are truly unmatched. It's such a fun, tropical escape right here in the Midwest. I honestly wish Omaha had more spots like this. I'd love to come back when they have live music and dancing because I can only imagine how fun the energy would be. Most of the table ordered the Despelote to share, and it was perfect for a group. So many meats and sides, and plenty to go around. I ordered the Cuban Sandwich for myself and was really happy with it. The flavors were spot on, and the fries were super crispy and fresh. My husband ordered the Jibarito sandwich with chicken and really enjoyed it. He doesn't usually go for fried plantains, but he was pleasantly surprised by how much he liked them in the sandwich. We'll definitely be back again soon!
Who would've thought my favorite Omaha restaurant would be Caribbeans food??? Popped in during a lunch break and absolutely loved it. I was greeted warmly and taken care of as a solo diner. The space is decorated beautifully, clean, with lots of color and representation. They start you off with complimentary toasted bread. I started with a chicken empanadilla which was juicy and sooo flavorful. It was hot and you could tell it was fresh out the frier. My entree was the Camarones Platos which did not disappoint. All the food items were full of flavor and really delicious. I had a great time here for lunch and highly recommend
After driving by dozens of times and meaning to stop in, Elie's lived up to my hopes! I got the roast pork sandwich and it was DELICIOUS - it was juicy, crisp, and a great size - the fries on the side were also pretty tasty. I also ordered some fried plantains and could not recommend them any more highly. Our server was very nice and we got our lunch pretty quick. The restaurant has a fun vibe to it, I'll definitely be going back to try some more soon!
What a fun place! Great addition and variety to the Omaha food scene. The powdered sugar covered fried cheese (Queso Fresca Frito) was odd but yummy and the main course with delicious. Definitely one to check out when down by the stadium!
Elie's had a lot of charm packed into a small building. They have live music (not sure if it's every night) and space for dancing. I had tacos and rum punch and I give them two thumbs up. My friend said the piña colada is a secret family recipe and really good. I don't like coconut so I'll take her word for it. There's a green wall where you can take pictures.
When I'm missing Puerto Rico, this spot hits. Everything is pretty good with a side of tostones. I ordered the churrasco with chimichurri and we had some mofongo too.
The location is very aesthetically pleasing. A good spot for pictures. We were greeted upon entry. I Went earlier in the day on a Friday so they wasn't busy at all. The owner was very sweet and welcoming. The food wasn't my favorite and pretty pricey for what we got. If you like a good strong drink I would not recommend the drinks they were good but not worth the buck. The parking is horrible in this area even though we came mid day we still had to park down the street from the restaurant. Their on site parking lot only holds about 6 cars and it was full.

Stopped by on a whim and now we have a new favorite lunch spot! A welcoming space, plenty of natural light, cheery staff and flags greeted us. Our server helped us choose the Cuban sandwich and from the appetizer menu the plantain tacos with fish for the protein. The food was delicious! The best Cuban sandwich we have had in over a decade, served with fries and yummy aioli; and the tacos nestled into plantain tortillas?? were perfect for lunch. If the parking lot is full, there is plenty of parking on the street to the east and north.

The menu here seemed a little limited, but boy oh boy did we enjoy what we ordered!! We started with cocktails. The waitress suggested a piña colada, which was so tasty! The coconut came through like a tropical paradise. The rum, a perfect level. Good to the last drop. My dining partner had a rum punch which was on the menu, and it really tasted good too! For an entrée, I decided to judge their version of the Cubano sandwich. It was different than others I have had before, in a good way! It was packed with pork. The pickles were a little bit on the light side, but they found their way into some bites every now and then. I would definitely try it again. My dining partner order Pernil Al Horno. This is also a pork item. Unlike the Cubano sandwich, this pork was prepared in a slow roast with delicious Puerto Rican spices. Delish!!! We chose a rice with various ingredients that made this dish outstanding. The service is friendly, the place is lively. Try it out. read more

Best Puerto Rican food in town! Ever since my trip to Puerto Rico, I've been obsessed with mofongo, and Elie's Chinchorro is my go-to spot in Omaha when the craving hits! Every time I go, the place is packed with life, music, and good energy. Depending on the day, you might even catch a live performance! They also teach salsa on Sundays, which makes the whole experience even more fun. My only complaint is the parking, it can definitely be a little annoying depending on when you go. Other than that, 5 stars from me! read more

Service was on top of it, helping talk us through the menu because we didn't know about anything, recommended items, etc! The food to me was authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, nothing I have ever tasted before! It was all delicious! Came out quick, hot, correct, perfect! Our server was fabulous; offering many recommendations, including the delicious Caipirinha cocktail and volcano margarita.The beef in the beef empanadas had so much dimension with a scratch-made rich dough. The Pernil/Roast Pork Mofongo included juicy and tender shredded pork on top of seasoned plantains. Elie also made 'the rounds' at end of the meal--she's such a delight! I need to give a special shout out to Robbie and his manager. There was a mix up with my order and they went *above and beyond* to make it right. My tamarind cocktail was 10/10 and the band was excellent. We arrived about 30 minutes before close but that made no impact in our epic service. Would go again! read more

The Jibarito Sandwich was so delicious, and I paired it with a Sprite. The waitstaff was really attentive and gave us the food as it came. Ambiance was chill, had a view of the road and music was playing, so it made for a good eating experience. The parking can be tough and minimal, so carpool if you can, or walk if you live nearby. read more
Well I came back again to this fine establishment. It was a Friday. Very busy but always accommodating very helpful as always I ordered the roast pork. I wish I remembered the name but shredded roast pork with onion and a potato side so yummy. Made my day from a long shopping trip. The broth that came with it had the right umami. Staff is always nice. And the vibe is always busy and friendly. You Can't go wrong eating here. read more

The food really is great and I love different! The plantain tacos in the appetizer menu are phenomenal and honestly could be an entree. The empanadas are excellent, but a little on the pricey side. The restaurant is festive and clean. The big challenge at this particular restaurant continues to be the service and lack of availability of items on the menu. Our server was not aware of one of the signature drinks on the menu I needed to check in with the bartender. Once we got that squared away, we began to order and found that many of the items we were ordering were not available. The food quality outshines service glitches and we will give them another chance while they get their team up to speed. Yum! read more

Oh, it started with a full-on garlic bread takedown--no survivors. Then came the appetizers: beef turnover, chicken chicharrón, and fried pork chunks. We ordered way too much, but do I regret it? Not a chance. Each dish was a crispy, savory dream. I will absolutely overindulge again. It's a tradition at this point. For the main course, we played it "smart" (ha) and shared the Cubano. This towering slice of sandwich heaven came with perfectly crispy fries and a garlicky aioli that deserves its own fan club. Naturally, I couldn't stop there and added a side of Mampostea'o rice. OMG. The rice was so flavorful I nearly made room in my already-overstuffed stomach to finish it, but hey, leftover Cubano = tomorrow's win. Pro tip: pop that baby in the air fryer for a next-day experience that'll make you weep with joy. Service & Vibes: Elie's team always nails it. Drinks stay full, smiles abound, and Elie herself graces the tableside with a warmth that makes you feel like a VIP. The ambiance? Utterly charming. Fairy lights, Puerto Rican flair, and upbeat music that makes you chair dance (yes, I do this--no shame). Sitting by the window adds a dash of downtown drama--buses, cop cars, and the urban hustle as your dinner backdrop. It's oddly perfect. Parking can get a bit dicey later in the evening, but honestly, I'd fight for a spot just for another mojito and a seat in this cozy little paradise. Elie's is the perfect getaway from the business of downtown Omaha. The atmosphere is welcoming with music straight from Puerto Rico. The service was quick and easy, and they gave some great recommendations for food. We had dinner at Elie's tonight and had an amazing experience. It was fairly busy at dinner time, but the service was still great! I had a pina colada and it was so delicious and fresh. Next we started with several great appetizers-Papa Rellena Frita, Alcapurrias, Masitas de Pesca'o. All delicious and would highly recommend. For our entree we had the Ay'Bendito/Mofongo with shrimp and Tripleta Sandwich. Both were so amazing. The atmosphere is very fun and welcoming, Elie brought our appetizers out and it was so much fun to meet her. We will definitely be back!! read more

I've heard good things about this place and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Es un pedacito de la isla en medio del Midwest. For starters I got la Papa rellena which are little potato balls filled with yummy meaty goodness. I was craving arroz con gandules so I naturally ordered the Cerdo Frito (fried pork cubes) served with Arroz con Gandules (puerto rican rice with lentils) and a side salad. The passion fruit mojito was so delicious and perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not too minty with the perfect amount of ice. The atmosphere is very laid back and casual, they have one large long table to accommodate a large party and the background music is loud enough to enjoy but also talk over it comfortably. The service was friendly. This is a place I would definitely return to with friends and family. read more

Authentic Puertorican food with a little twist . Presentation is great. In my experience, from Puerto Rico to Tampa and Jacksonville. Best mofongo ever. Place is small bur cozy, staff is amazing. If you feel your food ie taking a bit long, its because these dishes takes time to prepared and plated, Waiting is worthy.... Keep in mind, the restaurant is small, maybe 4 to 6 parking spaces including handicap. read more

Nice place to have Puerto Rican food and drinks. The staff is friendly but it did took a while for them to take our order. The parking lot is small so it might be hard to find parking around the restaurant. Overall it is nice place with great atmosphere! read more
Ok I hate only giving 3 stars but unfortunately it's that for me. If I would have just had the turnovers like my wife this would be 4 stars as they were good. Service was absolutely amazing as well! No complaints there. I had the pork mofongo. The meat was really chewweeeeeee! Usually fried pork it's absolutely delicious. This meat was fatty, tough and chewy. The overall flavors of the mofongo were kinda bland even with the broth. Will be back but try something else. read more
