    Queso Fresco Frito (Fried Cheese)
    Jan M.

I came in to try this well spoken restaurant in downtown Omaha. Atmosphere was very cute and tropical. I had to park on the street since they don't have much parking. The server was charismatic and helpful when it came to questions on the menu and drinks. Not in the photos which I tried: "parcha" / passion fruit drink. Highly recommend. Food took a while to arrive. We were a party of three. The Queso Fresco Frito (Fried Cheese) was yummy and the sauce was recommended by the server. It was a sweet sauce and the fried cheese balls went well with it. The photo with the Puerto Rican flag is mofongo. This was different and out of my comfort zone but it was filling and I had enough to take some in a to go box. Overall, great experience. I hope they had more parking spaces on their lot.

    Pork sandwich and fried plantains

After driving by dozens of times and meaning to stop in, Elie's lived up to my hopes! I got the roast pork sandwich and it was DELICIOUS - it was juicy, crisp, and a great size - the fries on the side were also pretty tasty. I also ordered some fried plantains and could not recommend them any more highly. Our server was very nice and we got our lunch pretty quick. The restaurant has a fun vibe to it, I'll definitely be going back to try some more soon!

What a fun place! Great addition and variety to the Omaha food scene. The powdered sugar covered fried cheese (Queso Fresca Frito) was odd but yummy and the main course with delicious. Definitely one to check out when down by the stadium!

We came here on a Thursday night to celebrate my mom's birthday and had such a great time. The staff was amazing and made sure we felt taken care of the entire evening. The decor and ambiance are truly unmatched. It's such a fun, tropical escape right here in the Midwest. I honestly wish Omaha had more spots like this. I'd love to come back when they have live music and dancing because I can only imagine how fun the energy would be. Most of the table ordered the Despelote to share, and it was perfect for a group. So many meats and sides, and plenty to go around. I ordered the Cuban Sandwich for myself and was really happy with it. The flavors were spot on, and the fries were super crispy and fresh. My husband ordered the Jibarito sandwich with chicken and really enjoyed it. He doesn't usually go for fried plantains, but he was pleasantly surprised by how much he liked them in the sandwich. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Who would've thought my favorite Omaha restaurant would be Caribbeans food??? Popped in during a lunch break and absolutely loved it. I was greeted warmly and taken care of as a solo diner. The space is decorated beautifully, clean, with lots of color and representation. They start you off with complimentary toasted bread. I started with a chicken empanadilla which was juicy and sooo flavorful. It was hot and you could tell it was fresh out the frier. My entree was the Camarones Platos which did not disappoint. All the food items were full of flavor and really delicious. I had a great time here for lunch and highly recommend

Elie's had a lot of charm packed into a small building. They have live music (not sure if it's every night) and space for dancing. I had tacos and rum punch and I give them two thumbs up. My friend said the piña colada is a secret family recipe and really good. I don't like coconut so I'll take her word for it. There's a green wall where you can take pictures.

The location is very aesthetically pleasing. A good spot for pictures. We were greeted upon entry. I Went earlier in the day on a Friday so they wasn't busy at all. The owner was very sweet and welcoming. The food wasn't my favorite and pretty pricey for what we got. If you like a good strong drink I would not recommend the drinks they were good but not worth the buck. The parking is horrible in this area even though we came mid day we still had to park down the street from the restaurant. Their on site parking lot only holds about 6 cars and it was full.

Stopped by on a whim and now we have a new favorite lunch spot! A welcoming space, plenty of natural light, cheery staff and flags greeted us. Our server helped us choose the Cuban sandwich and from the appetizer menu the plantain tacos with fish for the protein. The food was delicious! The best Cuban sandwich we have had in over a decade, served with fries and yummy aioli; and the tacos nestled into plantain tortillas?? were perfect for lunch. If the parking lot is full, there is plenty of parking on the street to the east and north.

Eclectic | portions | simple Eclectic - The overall aesthetic is eclectic, with a vibrant mix of Hispanic-inspired decor and playful design elements. There's a fun Instagram-worthy wall for photos, colorful flags draped like a bar canopy, and eye-catching art pieces--even some hanging from the ceiling. The space gives off a lively, energetic vibe that makes it feel unique and full of personality. Portions - The portions here are generous, so definitely bring your appetite. For the amount of food you get, the price offers great value--it's a solid deal, especially for a new spot in the area. Simple - The menu is relatively simple, with a solid variety of sections that keep things approachable. It includes the classics you'd expect from a Hispanic restaurant, along with a few regional items that add unique flair and may pique your interest. Pro tip: Staff are warm, energetic, and happy to offer recommendations. However, seating is limited, and it's closely tied to the small parking lot--so if the lot is full, the restaurant likely is too. That said, parking is typically easy to find, making it a convenient grab-and-go option if you want to stroll through the nearby shops.

Stopped by in the evening on a Thursday around 5:15pm for dinner! They were decently busy, people in and out all the time, they were turning tables quick! Service was on top of it, helping talk us through the menu because we didn't know about anything, recommended items, etc! The food to me was authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, nothing I have ever tasted before! It was all delicious! Came out quick, hot, correct, perfect! They let us know they do brunch & Saturday night dancing as well! They have a small parking lot but there is street parking. There is bar seating & normal table seating, and patio!

Elie's Chinchorro was such a hit! Our server was fabulous; offering many recommendations, including the delicious Caipirinha cocktail and volcano margarita. The beef in the beef empanadas had so much dimension with a scratch-made rich dough. The Pernil/Roast Pork Mofongo included juicy and tender shredded pork on top of seasoned plantains. Elie also made 'the rounds' at end of the meal--she's such a delight! It's also beautiful inside.

I need to give a special shout out to Robbie and his manager. There was a mix up with my order and they went *above and beyond* to make it right. My tamarind cocktail was 10/10 and the band was excellent. We arrived about 30 minutes before close but that made no impact in our epic service. Would go again!

The natural lightning and river views help to create a nice and relaxing space, while still casual enough that you don't feel bad bringing kids in. They source pastries from Lola's, and from the main food menu, I typically gravitate towards their hummus plate & grilled chicken. My only small complaint is that the sandwich breads we've tried are a little plain / underwhelming, but I just stick to the salads. Plenty of parking as well, so an all-around gem!

In the earlier days, it seemed like some of the menu items were too salty or whatever. But once they got established I have been happy with the experience every time. This is a restaurant attached to a science museum (but it can be entered separately). I go to a lot of museums and this food is miles better than most food you can get at most museums. I like that they offer items from local businesses such as Lola (for baked goods), Grove (juices) and Fermented Felon kombucha. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Windows are huge with a great view of the river. They serve a good iced tea, which can be not so good at other places. Also a nice hot drink selection. I like to go for a walk across the river, then come here and relax with a brownie or a slice of sweet potato cake. There is an entry fee to the museum if you want to go...or you can just meander over to the gift shop for free. It's a really good gift shop, if you are a nerd like me.
