Yum! My family used to frequent the original Summer Kitchen Cafe decades ago, and I'm happy to report it is still delicious! For those of us who may remember the old location, the set up of this spot is different; you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The atmosphere is laid back but clean. I had the egg and cheese croissant sandwich with bacon. It was delicious and huge! We also ordered a pancake on the side for my 11month old, who was a huge fan. Everyone else at our table also enjoyed their meal. I also got regular coffee and tried the German Chocolate Cake drip brew. WOW! The ambiance is very nice. I hadn't been here for years when they had a different location. We ordered breakfast and I ordered the Santa Fe Omelette A 3 egg omelette filled with sausage, sauteed green pepper, onion, mushroom, american cheese and monterey jack cheese. With marble rye toast and fresh fruit. It was a huge perfectly cooked omelette jam-packed with the delicious sausage and veggie filling. Rye bread was fresh and toasted the way I like. I enjoyed the melon & berry fruit cul. Our server was busy and the only person working the counter, take-out orders, and the tables. She did a good job despite being very busy. Do go there soon. Came here for brunch and overall thought it was just okay. They did get our large order out quickly and correctly (even with modifications) but I wasn't overly impressed by the food itself. My omelette was alright - the eggs felt pretty thick and the cheese on top wasn't the most appetizing. The chicken salad sandwich was a favorite of the group, as was the chili. I would probably give it another chance and try something other than an omelette. The servers were nice and helpful, and it is a nice and easy place to navigate with a wheelchair which is always a plus. Big portions as well. read more

Best oatmeal and pecan rolls I have found! The only thing I get every time. Staff is friendly when I use the pick up window.

I have been going here for years, it's always good! Whether you want some comfort food, breakfast or even a salad they have it. Their cinnamon and pecan rolls, their dessert bars, bread pudding is good. My fav is the frosted sugar cookie. It's unlike a normal sugar cookie, has it's own unique flavor. Breakfast burrito, omelets, potato casseroles are amazing! Their cinnamon French toast is excellent and you will never get any cinnamon toast like the kind they have there anywhere. I've heard great things about this spot and it did not disappoint! My only regret was my own fault--ordering off of the lunch vs. brunch menu. Butter. Better. Weird coincidence, sound the same? Real Ingredients is the best win here. Summers Kitchen has the best Waffle-in-town, according to the 3.5' tall waffle expert in my family. She's tried them all. We keep coming back here. I get the Option 2 Breakfast Sandwich. Sausage is real fresh. Has Mayo by default which melts some...kapoww...perfect. Always hot. Not losing any calories but I'm a sucker for savory breakfast. Tons of coffee options. I'm not a big flavored coffee fan but it smells good. Service is always good. Fast and fresh in the drive thru. This is one of Omahas best breakfast spots! We've been coming to summer kitchen for as long as I can remember! They serve breakfast and lunch and have a lengthy selection of menu options. I almost always get a potato casserole which are paper thin sliced potato's that have just the right amount of crispiness to them under a variety of toppings that come in about 10 different combinations. I got the prince charles which is grilled chicken, onion, cheese, broccoli, and hollandaise. It's fantastic through and through! My son got the pancakes and bacon which he enjoyed! They have a variety of coffee here which is "bottomless" and serve yourself. The service here was awesome! I had been to Summer Kitchen in other locations in the Omaha area, and it had been a good experience. This smaller location apparently operates in a completely different way. Although a sign at the entrance says "Please Wait to Be Seated", there is no indication that you will not have a waiter. Instead, you are expected to order at the counter. This non-traditional dining style was not mentioned to us at any point. Instead, we were allowed to sit and wait, completely ignored, for a long period of time. We eventually walked out in the hopes of finding a restaurant that is properly run. If you operate normal restaurants under this brand name, then implement an inferior ordering experience at a new location, you should tell your customers that they have to order at the counter. Due to poor management and even worse communication, I will not waste my time here or at any other Summer Kitchen location. You deserve to go out of business. read more

My son and i decided to try summer kitchen for breakfast. We both ordered omelettes. I had the Prince Charles's omelet and my son ordered the Santa Fe omelet. The wait time for our food was very reasonable. I'm not a fan of the order at the counter set up. The omelets were good. They were well made and well seasoned. The potatoes were bland. SKC had been a go to restaurant back when it was on Maple Street. We were pleased to find that it was not only located in LaVista but also on Pacific...a little closer to home. It definitely serves comfort food and has always had the best breakfasts. Ordering at the counter can be a bit of a hassle unless you know what you want before going. Which is simple...just get on the web. Coffee could be hotter but they have been accomodating and put my husband's cup in the microwave. Their quiches are the best in Omaha, I think. This was my first visit to Summers Kitchen and it didn't disappoint! The place was very busy and I was impressed with the unique menu options plus the combination of having a Scooter's coffee! I decided to branch out and ordered the Prince Charles omelette because of the different ingredients (chicken, almonds, broccoli, hollandaise) I got potatoes for my side and a muffin. The omelette was good and very filling. I would have liked more seasoning on my potatoes but ketchup made them fine. The muffin was delicious! I also ordered regular coffee and was pleased with the little bar. This is a place you order and pay at the counter but they give you a number and bring your food to your table. We usually get our pecan and cinnamon rolls from Wheatfields Bakery and they are amazing. However, my husband is very partial to Summer Kitchen's coconut cream pie. So I told him to pick up 2 cinnamon rolls and 2 pecan rolls. What a mistake. They were dry, very little of the gooey goodness that is supposed to be on the pecan rolls and what little bit of frosting that was on the cinnamon rolls had a weird taste. 4 rolls $20.00 of icky. read more

Trying to think of a spot for a quick brunch on a Saturday I saw summer kitchen driving by Sterling ridge area an knew I had to give this place a try. They had a huge menu on the wall when you walk in an you order up front an then sit down. I'm a huge fan of potato casseroles an this place did not disappoint by any means. Their the hand cut slices an are seared an cooked to perfection my gosh!!! I had the sante Fe an it had the perfect amount of sausage veggies and cheese an the dollop of sour cream was a nice touch. The server was very personable and pleasant. We went there for a simple salad and since all their options had meat and dairy in them, we asked for those items to be removed. They charged us extra to not put meat and cheese on. They when we received the salad, the onions they used were not fresh but frozen and slimy from thawing. I wanted to like this place, and I might have if I had ordered something different. My main criticism is that the menu is far too large for a restaurant where you have to order at the counter. There seemed to be quite a few menu items that should just be removed. The potato casserole was greasy, tough, and flavorless. The muffins taste like straight up flour. The cinnamon roll is more like bread with a sickly sweet topping. I did taste a few other dishes at the table and it seems like a sandwich is the way to go. I like almost everything thing about the Summer Kitchen on Pacific. The service is friendly and fast, great menu and location. The food is not the best part. I was assured their taco salad was "the best", well, it was edible. Today I had a BLT. Very hard toasted bread, brittle bacon, white tomato, little to no mayonnaise, but the lettuce was good. Disappointed if not irritated. Be prepared, if you've visited other locations, that this location is an "order at the front and seat yourself" situation. I came with my daughter on Mother's Day. They were OUT of cinnamon rolls, which my daughter wanted their popular ham scram and cinnamon roll. Poor planning, much? I had to quickly find a spot to sit, go back to the front counter and order. My new favorite is Chicken Salad on Marble bread with a cup of chicken rice soup. All for a low cost of $8.76. The sandwich is about 3 inches thick. I was full after eating 1/2. Next time I may get the 1/2 portion for $1.50 less. They have almost 10 choices of bread, the chicken is cut in about 1/2 inch cubes, plenty of mayo, a hint of ranch, not much celery & pepper. The soup had very little chicken. I thought it was just rice & carrot soup until I found a speck of chicken, but the flavor was fantastic! You order at the counter just inside the door. Get a card #, fill your own drink, grab a set-up of silverware as you find the table you choose. It's a smooth flow. The lunch hour was busy, although there were a few tables open. We have been getting take-out from this location for years now, not sure why I haven't reviewed it until now! I can't remember a time when our order wasn't 100% accurate and fresh.
