Stopped here for a quick bite. I love banh mi so it was awesome to get flavors like duck confit and pork belly. Didn't know which one was which bc it wasn't labeled and the guy didn't notify us. Both were really yummy. It came with a side of tater tots that were good while hot. I was a little put off bc there was a small pool of oil in the corner of my to go tray. How do I say this nicely without being overly dramatic of how bad my experience was... I guess I can't so I'm going to flat out say it... I HATED EVERYTHING I ORDERED!! * BEEF PHO- I wanted something comforting so of course pho me being Vietnamese, can totally go for a bowl of hot pho.. well that was a mistake! I asked for it to be made without the noodles bc I just wanted the broth to comfort my tummy but wasn't expecting them to serve me cold soup! The broth itself wasn't that great either but dang, at least heat it up! Veggies didn't fare well either, cilantro and basil was lifeless. When asked to reheat the broth, they didn't take the meat out to just heat up the broth or given me a new one at least so my meat was microwaved leaving it to be extra well done and extremely tough to eat. * DUCK CONFIT BANH MI & COTTAGE FRIES sad to say this but don't waste your money on dried duck meat and pale, frail, lifeless banh mi. This was so inconsistent. The table next to us had almost burnt banh mi, and mine came out like it wasn't even toasted! nothing to rave about this dish except for the fact that the cottage fries were probably the only thing we liked. * TUMERIC FISH RICE BOX uhhh this was the biggest NO ever! The fish was way too over cooked so it was dried. The rice itself wasn't tasty so it was barely touched. I took a few bites of the roasted veggies and that's that. * PORK BELLY BAO not great either. The Bao was falling apart before we even bit into to. And once we did, everything just fell out. It was poorly executed. Taste wasn't bad but I've had better Bao's. $4 for one was quite pricey! We literally left everything behind. Didn't bother taking it to go. Plus it was super hot in there as if the AC wasn't even on. Mind you, it was 98 degrees in Austin that day.. So sitting inside a restaurant with nonexistent AC was just torturous. I couldn't bare it. The mister and I kept refilling my water but I was not having it. We left after 30 mins. What happened? This place had been reliably good for the past 2 years. They've moved locations to Airport so they're not as convenient anymore, but the deduction is mainly because the baguettes for our bahn mi were STALE. On top of that, we got extra baguettes just because we like them and they were also stale. Normally, we get take out from here 2-3 times a month which is big for us given that we don't get take out frequently. The stale bread calls into question reliability so it makes it hard for this to be one of our regular places. read more

I spoke with the man at the counter and he said he's currently using a recipe from North Vietnam, as opposed to the many Austin restaurants that use South Vietnamese based recipes. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Everything was authentic (coming from a Vietnamese person here) and tasted like my mom made it. Portions are a bit small, with the exception of the pho which was humungous. Buns were okay, but the rice dishes are the best that I had. Even the roasted veggies (though this is not really a Vietnamese dish) were pretty good. What sold me was the frozen yogurt (which Viet people eat like ice cream). So good and reminded me of my childhood. I will be back. We went on a Monday night so there was parking, but I would expect the lunch and dinner hour rush on the weekend to be a bit crazy. read more

At first I was super intimidated by the parking situation, but don't fret, there's parking around back! I'm glad that it wasn't crowded when I went, because it's a little small and could fill up fast at lunch- but that would never stop me from eating here! I got the lemongrass beef rice bowl and WOW. The rice was so perfectly cooked and packed a ton of garlic flavor with it. It was nice having the bright, crisp, and slightly sweet pickles to balance out the earthy roasted vegetables. I ordered both the Tumeric Fish Box and the Pork Belly Bao. Of the two, I enjoyed the Pork Belly Bao way way more than the fish. First off...The fish entree was good, but i have to give a 4 Star instead of a 5 because of the pickled cucumbers, which didn't smell right and threw off the entree. Besides that, the picked cabbage was excellent, gave it texture. The vegetables on the opposite end of the fish was excellent as well. It was cooked, seasoned, and mixed just right. The fish plate was presented extremely well, great food presentation. Now for the Pork Bao... the first bite was a missed and under expectation (bc i guess I didn't open my mouth wide enough to get any meat/substance on the first take)...however, subsequent bites were o so mouthwatering. So good. We got the pork rib rice box, beef pho, king oolong tea w/ boba, frozen yogurt in a bag, pork belly bao, and braised beef bao, for ~$40. Way more than enough food for two people. Everything we had was so good and while it was slow (30 min before afternoon closing) service was fast and very friendly. The bao were well balanced for texture and flavor, though I personally preferred the pork belly. The pork rib rice box came with roasted vegetables and a pickled veg assortment. Everything was amazing. The rice was good, the rib meat came off the bone really easily and was so fatty and good. We destroyed it within 10 minutes. The pho was also really good and came with all the normal fixing. It's one set type though (thin sliced brisket). The drink and boba were good although obviously not the focus of the restaurant. The yogurt was in a small bag, size of a few fingers and really refreshing. Kind of like frozen yakult. So good. Reasonably priced. Really good service. Definitely go!!! read more

As I drove by this place 100 times, I always looked at the happy and cute looking pig on the sign thinking to myself, "I need to check this out". So I did. Heo exceeded my expectations. I was a little surprised by how small it is. I thought I will be walking into a regular size restaurant, but it's smaller than many coffee shops, and that's awesome. We came pretty late, so there were not many people. No line, super friendly staff, fun and happy interior design. Heads up for die-hard drinkers! They don't serve alcohol. Honestly, I was happy about that too. Sometimes we all need a brake =))) We got the Vietnamese Ice Coffee and Thai Tea. The coffee was too sweet for me (but that's coming from the person who pretty much hates sugar). The tea was very interesting. We had Lemongrass Beef Bahn Mi and Pork Belly Bao. Don't be fooled by the pictures that look like it's a small portion place. We could have easily split just one thing. Too bad the food was so delicious we could not stop enjoying it and ate it all. The baguette of the Bánh mì was very hard on the ends and decent in the center. Like other reviewers, I was left thinking where is the meat, literally one slice of pork belly down the thing. It was not hot or even warm and the tater tots that came on the side were hard and cold. What a disappointment. There wasn't even a decent amount of pickled veggies on it, I mean those are cheap soothes could of at least loaded up on those. Visited Heo with family from out of town and could not have had a better experience!
