Hello Nori is my good to when visiting Vancouver!! I have never had a bad experience and the food is always brought out promptly and fresh. It's an unassuming store front but once I side you are greeted by the hostess or one of the chefs behind the sushi counter. You will be seated at the sushi counter (all seats are at the sushi counter at this location). The menu is minimal yet consistent. The Salmon oshi is my go to. I do t do raw fish and it's seared and the avocado hand roll. Never disappoints. Hello Nori is Michelin Guide worthy in my opinion and I have nominated them!! Also I recommend their mocktails. The lychee is 10/10

Nicely decorated minimalistic design. Price point is ok for the area. Hand roll and fish are fresh. But literally the fish and seaweed wrapped around rice. No frills hand roll. The aburi oishi is good and the cocktails looked yummy. Easy place to drop in grab food quick and go about your way

Hello Nori was our last lunch before checking out and heading to the airport, and it was such a solid way to end the trip. We picked up the 16-piece Premium Cut Rolls (toro, yellowtail, scallop, and truffle lobster), and the quality really showed in the taste. Everything was clean, fresh, and well-balanced -- no heavy sauces, no distractions, just really good fish. The toro was rich and smooth, the scallop was buttery, and the truffle lobster added a nice depth without overpowering the roll. Pickup was quick and seamless, and the food was packaged well for eating on the go before a flight. Portions are standard, but the flavor and quality are absolutely the highlight here. If you care more about how sushi tastes than flashy extras, Hello Nori is a great choice. Would happily come back next time.

I didn't get many pictures since we got hand rolls most of them look similar. The food is excellent. They make everything to order so it's fresh and perfect. The nitro matcha was incredible too. The service was smooth and accessible. You sit at the sushi bar and different people serve you based on timing. We'd never been to a sushi bar quite like this one. It definitely has authentic vibes in that you're sat around the kitchen so to speak where everyone's hand rolls and or sashimi were being prepared. It made for a unique experience for a fairly quick and delicious bite. It was super busy and stayed that way so I highly recommend making reservations.

This is an expensive place. They charge for miso soup and have small portions. Happy hour has zero food on the menu which is unfortunate as had i known, i would have gone elsewhere.. Food comes out fast. The spicy shrimp was not spicy. The standout is the salmon oshi, which melts in your mouth. They do have very good service. They explain everything and bring water right away. I felt bad for the staff because the setup is not conducive to them serving people with liquids. Also, I would have preferred to control how much soy sauce mixed with my wasabi rather than the other way around. There was a good pour on the sake although it seems like a lot is wasted with the overpour? It's a very hipster interior with bar seating only. I was literally the only person here for an hour. Music is very chill.

LOVE! Cool concept with the single bar style table for the whole restaurant. I recommend the salmon oshi, and lychee berry cocktail boozy style. Hand rolls are all great, service is super fast and you get to watch your rolls being made right infront of you. A must visit spot for me every time i'm in Vancouver.

Hello Nori is such a good vibe, an excellent addition for busy downtown workers - we haven't had any specialty hand roll places so this restaurant concept is super cool and interactive. You sit at the counter and get hand rolls made fresh, one by one, right in front of you. Honestly kind of addicting watching them build each one so cleanly. The quality is great and you can really taste the difference in the sushi quality, it's actually really decent, The set menus are solid and actually filling, and the price point is totally fair for what you get. Great spot if you want something quick-ish, elevated, and a little different from your usual sushi dinner. Definitely a go-to for me when I want to feel a little fancy but still keep it casual.

Delicious hand rolls hand made one by one. Happy hour with some discounts late at night. Got the 6 roll combo and was delicious. My favorites are salmon and scallop. I guess I like things simple. Service was excellent and attentive. Ambiance- bar seating with soft music but lively evening crowd having some drinks. Nothing else really open in the area so nice to have a late night option.

My favorite meal I had on my Vancouver trip! Great service and I loved watching my hand rolls prepared in front of me. You order by using a pencil they give you to select which hand rolls you want. They also have a series of special rolls for what is the day I believe. The fish tasted so fresh and the balance of the warm rice and nori. It wasn't the best quality but it was reasonably-priced and filled me up. My favorites were the Lobster roll and the Sea bream. It was great--I wanted to eat quickly so I could go to work and the faster I ate each roll when it came out, the faster the next one came to me.

This is a must go place if you like sushi. Reasonably affordable food for CRAZY quality. Highly recommend. My friend and I went on a weekday night and it was not busy at all with no wait. It's a cute little U shaped table with the chefs serving it to you omakase style if you get the nori set. HIGHLY recommend the nori set could not emphasize the need to go to this restaurant enough it's my fav of my visit.

Really neat hand roll sushi bar. First of all the decor and service is amazing. There is a really neat wooden cube in front and the ceiling is super unique - hard to describe but unforgettable. The wait staff is really good at describing the menu and the place settings are done well and well thought out. The menu has different sets of hand rolls and also sashimi and individual hand rolls to order. I had a sashimi set which was excellent - included king wild salmon and another kind of salmon, hamachi and tuna. The hand roll was very well done and presented well too. Would definitely come back. Great place to take anyone. A unique experience.

We stopped by for a snack due to the high reviews, but were sorely disappointed with the quality of the sushi and rolls. It's easy to see the appeal of this type of restaurant, but if you are looking for quality fish and rolls, this is not the place. Both the salmon and tuna rolls we ordered didn't taste the freshest. Have definitely tasted way better sauces on unagi. Bottom line, if you are looking for an experience, give this place a try. But if you're looking for quality sushi skip.

Solid but not remarkable. Everything is pre made and put together. The heated nori is a nice touch but the inside is less interesting. Dinner * Tuna (Good) * Yellowtail (Good)

Not just for great sushi, but really affordable prices as well. Yes, the wait for a table can get long. We waited about 45 minutes, and there's no area to wait except outside or go take a walk since they will text you when your table is ready. I also appreciate seeing where my place in line is through Yelp! First, a shoutout to the wonderful service here. Everywhere I go in Vancouver the service is great, but the server here was so friendly, helpful and efficient. The ambiance is really nice here and I love the place settings! We had a lot, so here is my breakdown: Spicy Agedashi Tofu - lightly fried tofu in a sauce that reminded me of gochuchang sauce. 7/10 Gyoza - crispy fried with a pork/veggie filling. 6/10 Karaage chicken - on the bone, but delicious nonetheless. Served with a mayo sauce. 7/10 Tuna Bomb - 10/10 this came out last because it takes longer to make. This is an absolute must-do. Crispy rice patties with a spicy tuna spread that you just place on the rice. Salmon jalapeno aburi hako - 10/10 I have been excited about this since I heard about it. The seared salmon on top of rice with a shrimp tempura running through the middle. The salmon and sauce on top melt in your mouth. Red Dynamite Roll - 9/10 this was my brother's favorite. I wanted it to be a bit spicier, but that said it's still so amazing. Mango Flower Roll - 9/10 if you like mango then you will love this. This also just melts in your mouth and that mango is just so fresh. California roll - 8/10 as great as a California roll can be! No complaints here! Rainbow Roll - I didn't get to try it, but my niece gave it a 10/10! I will definitely be coming back here again.

Each piece gets torched over charcoal which gives it this smoky, melt-in-your-mouth quality, and the specialty sauces mean you don't even reach for the soy (they will also say to your face not to, so unless you want to endure their judgement--which my husband happily does--I'd stay away from soy sauce for the aburi. Their salmon oshi is well known, I love the ebi oshi the most but definitely get both and decide for yourself. The whole menu delivers though, from the sashimi to the rolls to the cocktails, all of it beautifully plated without feeling fussy. The space is nice too, took a big group of family here once after an event and they all loved it. And if you're here in the summer ask about the garden patio out back. It's an elevated experience but never stuffy. Perfect for a date night or when you want to treat yourself. Reservations are a good idea because it fills up. I made reservations about 4 months in advance. Upon arrival, one of the hostesses opened the door for us, and asked us to wait in a very ornate waiting area. We only waited a couple of minutes before another hostess seated us at the main seating area. The space is very dark, and only lit with candles while the rest of the diners trickled in. During that time they take drink orders, which is limited to sake, wine, beer and a few non-alcoholic drinks. Of note, they don't provide a drink menu, so we were a little surprised by the cost - the yuzu sake and the plum wine were $30 each. My non-alcoholic drink was $12, but a fair size. The theatrical portion started a few minutes later than the official start time - closer to 6pm. The shades lifted, the lights turned on, and the chefs introduced themselves. And from that moment on, they immediately went to work preparing our meal. They operate like clockwork to show the ingredients whole to the diners, and then preparing them, and serving them. Soon as the one dish was completed by all the diners, the next round came shortly after. Over 20+ dishes, there was very little wait time in between each. Each time a dish was served, a hostess was there to describe the dish and provided tips on how best to eat it. The food was overall was very good. I thought a few items were very average, most of them were very good, and a select few were truly outstanding. Most of the ingredients are imported from Japan, so I would imagine that it's part of the reason it's so expensive. This is definitely a splurge meal. I think half the diners at our sitting was celebrating a birthday. On the most part, the food is very good, watching the chefs at work is part of the entertainment, and the service is excellent. It's not some place I could afford to go to often, but glad to do it at least this one time.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.
