They have a huge menu, but I prefer restaurants that have a smaller menu where they perfect each dish. Service was slow...I found it strange how they started setting up a team lunch at 1:30pm and the server sat down to eat with other staff while there were still several guests. Rising sun roll: cool presentation with the flame. Taste was mediocre, it was like a glorified deep-fried California roll. The batter was too thick and the flavours weren't balanced. Chopped scallop roll: this tasted light and fresh. I loved that there was scallop and mayo inside and on top of the roll. Chicken teriyaki box: we had the choice of a dynamite roll or crazy boy roll. We chose the crazy boy roll, which was a bad idea. It was a deep-fried California roll, which was so heavy and we felt gross after eating this. I would come back, but would stay away from the deep-fried sushi dishes.
It was a lovely experience coming here. The service was good, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered sashimi, rolls, and sake. Everything came out very tasty. I'm usually not a rolls kind of gal but their scallop and special rolls are really good. I highly recommend this sushi restaurant. By the way, the ambiance is quite nice; the decor is appropriate and the place is clean. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't speak for that. It is a must-try. I will visit again once I am back in town.
We ordered the Kkanpunggi for the table; the triple spicy roll, dynamite roll, and rainbow roll were split by myself and one other person; and others ordered the chicken and the beef teriyaki, so I got a chance to try some of that too. Overall I thought the sushi was decent and was plated well. I think there could have been thicker pieces of fish on top of and inside the rolls. My favorite of the three was the triple spicy roll because of the roll itself and the large amount of crab meat on top. The other cooked food was okay. The teriyaki chicken and beef were dry and didn't have enough teriyaki sauce. Extra teriyaki sauce was an extra $0.75, which we didn't know until we got the bill. The Kkanpunggi was good - a little spicy and was presented nicely. The food was a bit slow, but the staff were nice and refilled our water when necessary. Cost-wise, it's pretty affordable and they have lunch specials and takeout discounts. I'd probably come back again because of the discounts, but there are many other sushi places to try around the city that I'd prioritize.
My friend highly recommended this place so we went there for dinner on a Wednesday. My friend had already ordered food before I got there so I can't remember everything I got, but I can tell you that they have a HUGE menu! It's kind of overwhelming how big it is and how many options they have. I will say, everything we ordered was SO delicious!!! Their service was spectacular and the food came out so quickly. I can't wait to go back and try other stuff from there. Their presentation was also really good, truly ""drool-worthy
Nice sushi spot downtown! Lots of seating and service can take a bit longer on a busy day. The chopped scallop roll was so good cause they put extra scallop on top. The tempura was also light, crispy and fresh. Everything was overall really good
Love this place!! Tons of creative and unique sushi rolls to choose from and the price is reasonable! I believe there's a discount if you order for pick up too. We got to eat on the patio which is rare for a sushi spot. Looking forward to trying more from here. These 3 rolls came to $47 including tax and the two of us were very full.

The menu here is HUGE, and it's not just sushi you can find here. They also have delicious bento boxes, katsu, and so much more. I ordered their beef teriyaki bento box for lunch, as well as a few sushi rolls and was really impressed with how fresh all the food tasted. Prices were also quite reasonable. The restaurant is also kept well clean. I noticed that the staff here thoroughly wiped every table and seat. The washroom was also very clean, so this gave me a sense of peace over how meticulous the staff are with ensuring you have a great dining experience here. The staff are very friendly and sweet, too! I will definitely return here the next time I am in Vancouver.

Great spot for sushi downtown. Service is quick and there are seats downstairs and upstairs. I enjoyed the negitoro roll and the salmon Aburi. The presentation is really cool with the flame!
We had a good time here. We ordered a lot and pretty much everything was good. Ambiance is great. Service is good. They have this tuna bucket which seemed like it was made way in advance and the tuna marinated in acid had lost all its texture and was a mushy dish which was inedible. That makes me remove a star. Other than that I liked everything else. Not sure if it was a bad day or that's how they serve it. This was also the most expensive dish so it hurt a bit.

The food was a bit sweet for my profile and it was everything. It's not a bad place for dinner or lunch if you tend towards a sweeter palate. We got the oshi spicy tuna, soft shell crab, yakisoba, udon and don buri chicken katsu. We also had the triple spicy role and gyoza spicy and none. We went with a big group are we're super hungry! I like the ambiance that they had an upstairs that overlooked the street. Cute casual place! The servers were very nice. Overall I didn't love the sweet flavor in everything except the udon.

Fortunately, there's no shortage of fine Japanese restaurants in the Downtown Vancouver area and Sushi Mugen is one of the favorites among the locals. This place has a great menu and whatever you might be craving, I'm confident they will have what you're looking for. The food was delicious and the service was great. read more

Picked up takeout dinner from here recently and thought it was pretty good. I called in around 4:15 pm on a Thu afternoon and placed my order, and was told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I got there 10 minutes later and it was ready for pick up! The restaurant itself is small and doesn't have too many tables. To my surprised, there were 3-4 tables seated already for an early weekday dinner at 4:30 pm, so I assume this place gets popular later in the night. I ordered the salmon oshi roll ($14.95), California roll ($4.95), and two pieces of chopped scallop nigiri ($2.75 each). The California roll and chopped scallop roll were pretty good and I enjoyed them, but the salmon oshi roll had too much rice compared to the thin piece of salmon on top. Also, there was something sweet in the salmon oshi roll I didn't like, perhaps the yam? I'm not used to the sweet flavor so it came across as a bit odd. I'd come back again if I was in the area but would stay away from the salmon oshi roll. read more

This place is awesome! I'm a huge sushi lover, and this is some of the best I've found in Vancouver. The sashimi salad was amazing, and the red prawn roll is a must-try. The miso soup was also spot on. I've also ordered their Salmon Teriyaki through a food delivery app, and it was really great! They were super helpful with my peanut allergy. I didn't have any issues --there didn't seem to be any peanuts used in their kitchen which was a relief. The spot is pretty small, so it's perfect for a date or solo lunch/dinner. I didn't see many bigger tables for larger groups, but it would be a great place to sit outside in the summer, I think the outside tables seat 4. Totally recommend trying this place out! read more
I'm quite disappointed that I discovered this sushi place on my last day of visiting Vancouver. I had their Hipster Roll and Nabeyaki udon and they were very good. The hipster roll was huuuge and super filling, nicely decorated and really tasty. It also came with salmon on a bed of rice. Fresh and tasty sashimi. Their udon was soft and chewy. The broth was so flavourful and made my meal tasty. I would definitely come back when I'm in Vancouver again to dine at this place and eat more sushi rolls. read more

Decor is pretty inside but a little cramped. I would recommend the outdoor seating if weather permits. Lots of rolls to choose from. We ordered the Toro Toro roll, triple spicy roll with the spicy tuna, and a rainbow roll. We're used to big cuts of sushi in SoCal so these were a little on the smaller side, but very tasty. Favorite was the Toro Toro roll, highly recommend that. Pretty busy here on a Friday night so have patience and order one more roll than you think you'll need. Pictures show what the rolls look like but we had started eating before I remembered to take pictures so there are missing spots of the pieces we ate. read more

This is a busy place. We came in late around 8:00 pm and the place was full, and folks were still coming in. Food was great and servings were large. Service was definitely a 10 +. Will recommend to friends when they're in the area! read more
4 stars for the food taste and presentation and 2 stars for the service. The Salmon Aburi bowl was delicious but salmon quantity is very small compared to the amount of rice. Tuna Tataki role was decent however size of pieces are small and so it's not really worth the price unless you go to the 15% off at happy hour from 3-5pm. Their bento boxes are good value only available during lunch hours. Servers attempt to check on you but take forever to come even with the call waiter buzzer. Update: Service is really not that great as they are very busy and understaffed. Dynamite roll was falling apart. Salmon Aburi nigiri was delicious. Wild salmon sashimi was fresh but pricey. read more

Came here to have sushi on the patio w/ our puppy and absolutely loved it ! We ordered some rolls & nigiri to share ! - Triple Spicy Roll was a huge favorite and a must order the sauce & crunchy bits were our favorite part - 903 Roll was good but there was way too much sauce and more on the sweet side - we did enjoy the fried garlic on top though but wouldn't order again - Spicy Salmon Roll was fresh and has a good crunch with the fried pieces on top - highly recommend - Hamachi & Tai Nigri were both super fresh and rice was cooked perfectly highly recommend as well read more

While the food here may be decent, the service here is incredibly lacking. I had ordered four dishes, and three dishes came to my table very slowly. I waited over an hour for my fourth dish, I even reminded the staff once about it. Since I have worked as a server before, I tried to be understanding since they were decently busy. However, it never came. At the end of mI had to firmly ask for it, before finally someone brought it over in a take out bag. I didn't receive much of an apology for it either, just a kids apple juice that I didn't want. Additionally, no one had ever filled my water up. Whenever I looked over, all the staff were standing around chatting with each other. I believe this place needs to work on their service and work ethics. read more

Alright for the price, however the pieces looked diabolical. If you look at my pictures, cucumber roll has long strands sticking out of it and is not closed. Full of rice, does not look quite appetizing in general. I will say, we already had a few pieces from the tray, so this is not exactly what it looked like out the bag. read more

What a find! This was the third time for sushi in BC during our trip. Good thing we had reservations, which we changed the time, and there were no problems. Once again, we ordered too much food, but it was all delicious. I started with a Green Salad with a light soy dressing. Excellent. We shared an order of Yellowtail and Salmon Sashimi. The fish was so fresh and definitely better than we get at home in the US (in a landlocked state). The presentation was really great as well. We also had the Baked Molten Rock Roll because my wife wanted chopped scallops again. That roll was very good, but I felt it didn't need the parmesan cheese on it. That was a little overpowering and not really needed. The Awesome Tataki Roll was amazing. The crabmeat/avocado inside was topped with fried garlic and onions. It truly was awesome for my tastebuds. The ambiance was really nice and the servers attentive. Decent quality typical bamboo chopsticks and paper napkins. The food all came out together (instead of salads first) and very fast. Oh yeah, the Awesome roll was so awesome my wife wanted another one. Would definitely go back if I want sushi in this area of Vancouver. read more
Super delicious and well-priced sushi spot. The quality of the fish was fantastic, the portions were great, but what blew me away was the attention to detail in the presentation. You don't typically expect that outside of higher-end sushi, but everything was presented in a beautiful and immaculate way. read more
