Okay so, to be honest, I really like this spot for sitting outside at the cool table and bench or near the door in summer (not during rainy season or winter). This was truly our favourite sushi place that we didn't mind walking to when we first moved to Vancouver. The staff was super sweet to my kids and we came here a lot. Had dinner here out of nostalgia last night since I was at a panel at the VPL. Salmon chirashi don hit the spot. read more

Decent sushi at really good prices! Love that they always have quick service and the rice in the rolls are still warm when served. They are generous with soy sauce wasabi ginger and napkins. The restaurant is small for seating but across the library so perfect to order and eat on the steps there. Also is a picnic table out front to eat as well. read more

This was a no unfortunately. Cashier rushed us into ordering, I'm assuming it was busy? But wasn't that bad. She also was impatient, when we weren't ready to order, she would leave us to do a quick task and come back to ask if we were ready like 3x within 2 minutes. It was a lot. I ordered a Philly roll and it was terrible, worst I've ever had. It was a smoked salmon instead of salmon sushi AND to make it worse, there was mango in it?! We also ordered the baked salmon and we got something entirely different in our to-go bag. read more

Ordered takeout on a Saturday night to share with 7 people. My friend ordered online, which was convenient and told us the wait time of 20-25 min for pickup. We got 2 party trays (A & B), prawn tempura appetizer, and 2 rolls (one was scallop, and the other I can't remember the name). The prawn tempura had too much heavy batter and lacked flavour. The 2 party trays were decent, and fed a lot of people. My favourites from them were the salmon nigiri, yam tempura sushi, dynamite roll, and California roll. The torched scallop sushi was very tasty - I enjoyed the smoky flavour and soft scallop texture. The sauce was well done. I'd say that this sushi didn't have anything special... everything was just okay. It is good to feed a lot of people for a decent price, but it's not the quality of sushi I'd want to eat on my own. May only come back if I want to eat in a pinch! read more

I came to Vancouver BC for business trip and came to the sushi bros. I was tired and wanted to eat Japanese food. I found it 3 min walk from the hotel. It was around 7:30 pm when I came to the store and sat at a table in the corner. All the menu items were standard items. I ordered chirashi sushi, miso soup, and vinegared octopus. The chirashi sushi is fresh and filling. Miso soup and vinegared octopus were ok. The service of a nice Japanese woman was pleasant. By the time I finished eating, the restaurant was full of other customers. The inside of the store is not large and it was a hot and humid day, but the A/C was not working very well. First time in BC, a lot of options in downtown Vancouver, but sushi bros was awesome. A ton of food for a good price. The yaki lunch special was great with cali roll and gyoza. I will add the Gyoza was some of the best I've had in a long time!! read more

I am giving a 2 only because they used old rice! To the point where I legit felt sick. Otherwise, everything else was good. Like 4 good. I got the spicy agadashi tofu which was perfectly crispy and the sauce was one of the most flavourful ones I've had. I also got their veg gyoza and loved it! A bit on the greasy side but the filling was uber flavoured with a great chew. Then comes the sushi. Right off the bat, the rice was old! It was so unfortunate. I got the yam roll and the Amazing Roll (Yam roll , TOP W/ avocado & potato crisp). Again, rice was old but the avocado was perfectly sliced. One of the cheaper options for downtown sushi and not too bad! Nothing to write home about though. Can't say much about service or ambiance as I got takeout! We got a lot of sushi and fed everyone for under $20 a person! The only notable roll was the aburi chopped scallop roll which was really delicious! The other rolls were okay to average. I've had much better of the same rolls elsewhere. Good rice to filling ratio here at least! And the rolls were a good size. The prawn tempura wasn't great. Too much batter and the batter wasn't flakey and crispy as I would expect from a tempura--not great for my soft mouth. They also don't sell yam tempura despite having a yam tempura roll? Came here for lunch. I got the teriyaki chicken bento box. It comes with miso soup, green tea, California rolls, 3 spring rolls and green salad. I wasn't a fan of the spring rolls. It seems that it was frozen before and it was tasteless. Overall, it was a good value for the price. Busy place at lunch with a line up. Little seating room inside. I sat near the front window. I liked this place. Good sushi. Good service and great prices. Expensive sushi in my opinion is just silly. Considering it's just sticky rice and bits of raw fish. Some places price it like it's filet mignon. So, I appreciated that this place prices fairly. The only feedback I have is the miso soup. I felt it tasted very watery and bland. Food: 1/3 Service: 0.5/1 Atmosphere: 0/1 For sushi downtown, Sushi Bros was really... lacking. My sushi didn't taste fresh at all, and "stale" is never a good way go describe your sushi. It's edible, but there's so many other options downtown to get sushi at there's no reason to only go for "edible" quality. The place is super small so getting in to order was extremely cramped and uncomfortable, but at least you can wait outside and the server brings you your food. However we found they gave my friend the wrong order when we took our take-out back to work... All in all, I didn't have a good experience with Sushi Bros and I'd suggest hitting up any of the many other sushi places around the area. read more

Got the 6 piece Sockeye sashimi, tobiko and masago nigiri for just under $15. Sashimi was fresh, not slimy but under average sized slices. They made it up with the amount of tobiko and masago. Was still pretty hungry so I got a slice of pizza from Straight Outta Brooklyn next door. A nice healthy snack for $15. read more

Inexpensive hole in the wall across the street from the city library and a couple blocks from the Olympic stadium. Very low key. The sushi is good and the people here are very nice. Extremely unpretentious. Easy to miss but a good place to stop if you want a quick bite of sushi. read more

A few months later I decided to try again, It was really good so, I went back again the next week. I ordered the same thing... good again. This week same order, terrible! Tried Sushi Bros through the Ritual app for takeout and was quite impressed with a few things: speed of the order, freshness of the sushi and the value of the food. When I picked up the order, I saw that they also had some seating area so we'll definitely go back for a meal to see how the service is. It looks like a great, casual place for sushi - that's not overly crowded! It's also located near Stadium District, making it super convenient for pre/post game/concert/show meals! Overall great experience and would recommend. You can easily walk past this place but I surely hope you don't. So many more things to explore on the menu and I'm looking forward to trying them. read more

Solid value for Yaletown. Sushi is decent per Vancouver standards - reasonable quality fish and everything stays together. Pricing is on the cheaper end for Yaletown, but higher end for this tier of sushi in downtown Vancouver, without any exceptional deals. This was a solid place with friendly and prompt service, standard rolls at great prices, and a willingness to accommodate my mom's random butchering of their menu to make a "custom roll" (bonus points there). Small restaurant without an abundance of seating, but that gives it a cozy feel. If you're craving sushi and you don't want to (over)pay for one of those fancy places in Vancouver, this is worth a visit. read more

3 1/2 stars. After Covid "ended" I decided to try this place again. It was the only sushi place still opened after 9pm. I remembered last time to not order any sushi, but just rolls. Started with the veggie combo. Was good. Came back a few weeks later and risked get sushi. Turned out to be decent. I've now become a regular because the price is right and it's close by. read more

This was a random sushi place near my hotel that I stopped at a couple times to pick up a snack, and honestly, it was great. SO inexpensive and good quality sushi, with a high fish to rice ratio. I've never been here before but surprisingly this little place is so good!! On a Saturday expect it to be busy with people going in and out taking orders to go and sitting in. The customer service is great and I really enjoy the free tea!!! The gyozas were really good and crispy! The sushi is really cheap in comparison to the portion because you get so much!!! This is the second time I've been to Sushi Bro. I order beef bento box. It contains rolls, spring roll, miso soup which can warm me up in rainy day, salad and rice. It's not tasty bad, but I can not say I will recommend the beef bento box to my friends. The amount is good enough to a girl who doesn't eat too much. I didn't finish all of the food in the box, leaving the salad there and took away the rolls. It's a good deal as a lunch, especially in DT. A $10 thing. read more

Food has gone really downhill lately. Rolls are different sizes everytime you order. Rolls are often stale or have a really strong fishy smell, even the veggie rolls. No mayo in the California roll just tasted like old fish wrapped in rice. The food used to be really good here not sure what's happened. read more

Close to my hotel so i decided to come in. I ordered the combo B and prawn tempura, wasn't to happy with the tempura as for it looms like it wasn't cooked by the restaurant, but who knows. The sushi made up for it, i usually get full off three rolls but the portions was perfect for me to finish all the rolls. I really enjoyed the tabiko inside the BC roll, it was my favourite part thats gunna bring me back to this place. Environment is very clean and minimal, staff was very polite as well. read more

One of my fav sushi joint in Vancouver. I used to always go there after work because they close usually later than other sushi places. The sushis are cheap and also great quality. I'll recommend that spot to anyone having a sushi craving while in downtown Vancouver. read more

Service can be hit or miss, sometimes they are super attentive and sometimes it takes a while to wave someone over because they do get busy. But the Friday night manager is really cool, always says hi to our group and is very kind! Restaurant feels like a private sushi bar with good music and drinks. The only note is that some booths require shoes off. Overall a great spot!

The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. My hubs' curry sauce was served on the side so he could pour out as much or as little as he wanted. All in all, it was a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Saku is top notch for katsu. Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
