My review might be off as I'm new to Vancouver and the sushi in Toronto is nothing compares to here. With that said, I really enjoyed my meal here! Went here because I was in the area and they had really good lunch options and very affordable also. By the time I was seated and got served, there was a lineup of people waiting so that says something right? I had ordered their C9 lunch special which consisted of: rice, miso soup, a side salad, tempura (2 shrimps, 2 potato's), and spicy salmon roll - all for only $8.50. Mind blowing! The miso soup was tastey - definitely tasted the miso flavour instead of it being watered down. The tempuras were fresh and crunchy and superb! The salad was also good - they didn't drench it in dressing. The roll was amazing! Fresh salmon pieces and the spiciness was from thebsiracha on top which I thought was unique. I'd definitely go here again during lunch break!

Just finished eating Saba Nigiri, Toro Nigiri and Spicy tuna rolls. These are basic dish for a sushi place and you cannot mess it up unless you are using a realLy shitty quality ingredients. However, all three of them were plain, falling apart and tasted pretty bad as I was able to taste the frozen low quality fish. They didn't even give me any ginger or wasabi. The price is cheap but the quality of food and service are even cheaper.

Solid value, but lacking a bit in craftsmanship. I ordered a chicken teriyaki combo and a salmon teriyaki combo. Worked out to be about $21 in total, which is a very good value. We were completely satiated with the quantity of the food. Everything tasted fresh, and flavorful. Service was quick and friendly. The only complaint I have was that the sushi rolls were made quite sloppily. The rolls looked inconsistent in size and proportion sitting next to each other. The tuna rolls had a lot of loose grains of rice sticking to the outside seaweed wrapping. More than one roll fell apart on the journey from the platter to my mouth, and I am reasonably adept at using chopsticks. I would be more understanding if the restaurant was busy and the rolls were made in haste, but there was only one other person there at the time. Not a big deal, since sloppy sushi tastes the same as perfectly crafted sushi, but details like these are what separate 4 star joints from 5 star joints.

While running errands back in October, we were looking for something quick and tasty to eat around the Broadway area. Since there is an overabundance of sushi places in Vancouver, we decided to try Sushi Dragon. This restaurant is rather narrow but the large mirrors on the left wall makes the place feel bigger than it really is. It seemed like they cater mostly to take-out orders as we saw a lot of people coming in to pick up their orders while we waited for our food. The Beef Teriyaki ($6.50) was pretty good and at a relatively fair price. The thin slices of beef were covered in a nice sauce. The House Special Roll ($5.50) had tuna, salmon, scallop and fake crab on the inside and was topped with tobiko. The Assorted Sashimi ($12.50) came with hokkigai (surf clam), tai (sea bream) which was beautifully delicate, toro (fatty tuna), salmon, and tuna. Overall, the sashimi was pretty good with a nice, clean finish. Last up was some nigiri: Toro ($1.75), Unagi ($1.75), Tamago ($1.35), Ikura ($1.75), Chopped Scallop ($1.50). The only negative that I have to say for the nigiri was that the nori was a bit tough. I was actually surprised at how good the food was at this small little take-out shop.

A small restaurant on Broadway in Vancouver. I ordered Chicken and Egg with rice. Only $8.50!! Such a friendly price. Comes with great portion and it tastes very good.

roll combo 3: spicy tuna and spicy salmon

**3.5 stars** Items: two combos - spicy tuna roll + spicy salmon roll, and dynamite roll + california roll (real crab add $1) Pros: clean, simple elegant decor, great service - no complaints there, quick, excellent lunch prices and i like that the rolls don't have an inch of rice around them Cons: not the best quality fish but also not bad - somewhere in the middle, seaweed around rolls a bit too chewy, salmon was not wild sockeye Bottom line: i'll be back.

Best sushi bang for your buck around. They even offer wild caught salmon, we make a point of getting takeout here anytime we're in the area.

I appreciated this and would much prefer this over expecting to have a table than being disappointed. We got lucky though and were able to get seated right around 9. Service was very prompt and we were able to order, eat, and get out of the restaurant pretty quickly. Overall great experience even though I didn't absolutely love everything we ordered House roll: 3/5 this was ok. It sounded good initially but I think there was just too much going on Spicy chopped scallop roll: 4/5 presentation wasn't the best but it still tasted good Red dynamite roll: 5/5 their most popular roll for good reason. I would def recommend this one Salmon and tuna nigiri: 5/5 I liked both a lot and this perfectly scratched the itch for my sushi craving

I counted maybe 36 seats. The interior is nice but generic enough to be just about any type of restaurant. The menu accessed via QR code. I ended up trying the following: - Assorted Tempura: Good. Light batter, but slightly overbrowned. - Miso Black Cod: Good. More elaborate presentation than most, but very small piece. - Salmon Belly Sashimi: Very good. Fresh and delicious. - Tom Special Roll Tray: Very good. A great way to sample all the different roll, all which are very good. I thought it was reasonably priced and could adequately feed 4 people. Service was very good. There are a LOT of staff, so we were constantly being checked on to make sure we were happy and got anything we needed. Overall a good meal. It doesn't classify as the best sushi in Vancouver, but I can see the quality-value ratio might be the best in the city. All the food was quite good and certainly not overpriced. I imagine the high staff count was due to the overwhelming amount of takeout orders. I would return.

My hubs and I vacationed in Vancouver a few weeks ago in late April. We had seen the long lines for dinner at Saku when we were here more than a year ago. So, we decided to give them a try for a late lunch around 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon. No wait. We got seated right away. We liked how spacious and airy the dining room was. Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. My hubs' curry sauce was served on the side so he could pour out as much or as little as he wanted. All in all, it was a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Saku is top notch for katsu. You won't believe how good katsu can be until you try it.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Service was really amazing with servers explaining each dish and drinks were always topped off…read more Food was good, but maybe this isn't quite my style of omakase compared to the other ones I've tried. This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
