You can order from your table, but don't get carried away. Once seated, you can use a touchscreen tablet at each table to browse the menu and order. You can also summon staff for more tea or the bill. It's easy to get carried away and order too much. We noticed that the prices are reasonable when considering the portion size. For example, for the same price elsewhere, Sushi Mura gives much thicker slabs of sashimi. Our orders tend to be a mix of noodles, deep fried items and sushi/sashimi. Food arrives promptly, and there's something for everyone.

This is a really nice spot with really fresh food! Service was good and the meal was tasty. Surprised it was so busy late in the afternoon. Parking in the mall was a bit painful but at leave side streets was fine. I liked the wild salmon a lot! Worth giving a shot.

This sushi joint used to be famous for good quality sushi. Probably after the change of owner, many people said the quality has deteriorated substantially. So I went there to have a try myself. The exterior and interior of the restaurant has no change but obviously the staff are not Japanese anymore. I ordered the Salmon and Tuna Combo and my wife ordered some other sushi rolls. She has been here for a few time before. We found the key issue with the sushi and rolls is the rice is not sticky enough. The nigiri sushi disassembled at the moment you picked it up with chopstick. To be fair the ingredients are fine but really disappointed the chef is not skilful enough. Other than the foods, service and hygiene were OK, nothing to comment. I am hoping the restaurant will have more improvements so there can be more good restaurant for sushi in the neighbourhood around the corner of Oak Street and W 49th.

Speedy/ excellent service. Good Covid measures! Tea constantly refilled. And extremely good value-wise. I've been slightly disappointed with the food the last couple of times though. Their fried tempura and spider roll's batter just ain't right. One lacks flavour/ overly thick and the other one is just super old oil. Was very disappointed in the salmon blossom roll tonight. Could hardly find any salmon in it anymore. It used to be my second favourite roll at sushi mura. And my salmon sashimi tonight was just sort of fatty and warm. Overall, I've only been satisfied with their crazy rabbit roll and agedashi tofu. I think their Mura Roll is good too. I hope their food improves or becomes a bit more consistent.

Over the years, I've been here many times and I'd consider it my go-to sushi restaurant. Since we knew that there's usually a wait, we made a reservation two days prior and were seated right at our reservation time. The dining area is smaller now since the left side is closed off and used to hold takeout orders. There are some barriers to separate tables as a COVID precaution. Soon after our order was placed, our dishes began to arrive one after another. The service was quick, but it was difficult to get a waiter's attention when we needed tea/water refills. The assorted tempura ($14) had a batter that was crispy and not too thick and the tempura was very hot. The chicken teriyaki ($16) was also very hot. It was flavourful and came on a bed of bean sprouts, but it wasn't anything special. The salmon blossom roll ($16) has always been my favourite and nothing about it has changed over the years. Each piece had a generous amount of salmon on top. However, the dish it was served on was unnecessarily large and took up way too much room. We tried the Mura special roll ($14) but we could've done without it. The inside was basically all tamago and each piece had two slivers of ebi and cucumber. The outside said it was supposed to have salmon and avocado but most of the time it was one or the other. The wild salmon roll ($6?), the tuna roll ($3.5), and the California rolls ($5.25) were standard and tasted as expected. For sashimi, we ordered the tuna and salmon sashimi ($17.25, came with half of each) and a full order of the wild salmon sashimi ($20). Compared to the wild salmon, the farmed salmon had a stronger fish taste, was thicker and chewier. The wild salmon practically tasted like nothing. I suggest sticking to the farmed salmon sashimi since it's cheaper. I believe that the prices have become more expensive over the years, but I think that would be expected for anywhere really. I'd say that better sashimi can be found elsewhere in Vancouver. This is a place to come if you want variety and if you like sushi rolls.

I finally got to try this place. 10/10 would come back again. Not your high end tapas bar but your everyday dine out sushi place with decent price and decent. We were a table of 5 with no wait time on a Sunday afternoon. They checked our vaccine card and they had a temperature scanner at the door but there is not much social distancing in the seating area other than the plastic dividers. The volcano roll is unique that the sushi is deep fried with spicy tuna in the centre - perfect pairing. The snowy village contains crab and is sprinkled with tempura flakes - creamy and delicious! The rest are quality as expected. I appreciate that they were able to split the bill for us. The only reason I gave them a 4/5 because we didn't get our tea refilled until the very end.

I've lived by this sushi place for so many years but never stopped by for a meal. Finally came here around the Holidays with a few friends. The sushi rolls were huge - and at a fair price too. Service was quick and the employees were friendly.

Lots of restaurant patrons, a line up of 10+ patrons waiting for a table, means it IS a popular busy restaurant. Parking limited, so had to park like a block away. I was craving sushi so this is one of my go-to places for sushi. This review is for 6 out of 7 dishes. From best to least favorite. 9 piece Salmon Sashimi Awesome Roll This is my top favorite that I have ordered time after time. Double Dragon Roll (BBQ Eel) This is a favorite of mine, anything with bbq eel seems to catch my taste buds. Crazy Rabbit Roll This is very big and flaky with lots of masago. Yummy. It is quite difficult to pick up like the spider roll. I would consider a repeat but not one of my top choices. Chop Scallop Roll If looking for a roll with rice on the exterior and light to consume, this is a good selection. Spider Roll This is very big and round, but can easily fall apart while holding in a pair of chopsticks. I am not too crazy about a repeat.

This is ultimately one of my go to places for speciality rolls as they DO NOT DISAPPOINT! They honestly have the most unique rolls and they are so good! We definitely got quite the spread! * ika karrage ($8.95) ~ this was so good! Ultra crispy and crunchy. The squid was juicy and perfectly cooked not to mention they were huge! The seasoning was there and it came with a sauce too which was good with the squid. 10/10 would get this again. It was just delicious. * Double dragon ($14.95) ~ this was good, the unagi and avocado complimented one another, and the sauce topped on top was good with the tobiko eggs. 7/10 - would get this again. Good if you like unagi and avocado! Just a tad bit too much sauce I would've liked it there was a bit less as the unagi sauce is also super powerful flavour wise. * Under the sea ($15.95) ~ this was my favourite roll we got, the seaweed despite it sounded a bit odd WORKED SO WELL! It was refreshing and tasty the sauce made the roll a bit creamy and yummy too. 8/10 would get this again. If your a texture person and don't like the seaweed texture I don't recommend it as it was definitely a more "wet" roll in terms of texture wise. * Aburi salmon ($18.95) ~ unlike regular aburi salmon you can get this was huge, and it had a piece of cream cheese in the middle which took us by surprised and how well it worked with the seared top was Chef kiss. This was actually good combination of creamy, and firm texture in this. 9/10 ~ would get again if I come. It was delicious but it's a heavy roll, so it's good to share or it can be a bit heavy! * Kimchi fried rice ($15.50) ~ a odd combination sushi and kimchi fried rice, the kimchi fried rice was a bit on the tart side from the fermented kimchi. I did wish it was a tad sweeter and flavourful with kimchi taste but it was a bit plain despite the colours of it. The rice was a bit mushy for my liking as I prefer firmer rice when it comes to fried rice. 5/10 ~ honestly not a dish I'd get again. Lacked kimchi flavour and the rice was just too mushy. *

The food was fresh well prepared and worth the wait for limited space in a busy dinner time on the weekend. Our table was very clean and the staff was so helpful. The ambiance was good weather you were bringing a family or meeting a couple friends for drinks. The presentation and quality of what you order makes it a great destination.

Decided to try this place out after the place I usually buy sushi from closed for the day. And I am amazed to how bad the quality is. The rice was overnight rice reheated. The fish was obviously frozen and quickly defrosted. Nothing was fresh and tasted awful. You will get better sushi at Safeway than you will here. Absolutely terrible.

Sushi Mura always comes in clutch with yummy affordable sushi to satisfy my cravings! Currently they are only takeout but dining in was always a pleasure there. My go-tos are: Dynamite roll Spicy salmon combo Spicy tuna roll Nigiris Their fish is consistently fresh and tasty! I recommend for those sushi cravings and will continue to come back! Rainbow Roll: tamago, salmon, tuna, saba, tai, avocado (top) and House Roll: crab, cucumber, avocado, masago, tuna, salmon, tamago.

A Korean run Japanese restaurant on the West Side of Vancouver. I drive past this restaurant on a weekly basis, but I decided to try this place because I had to take someone to a doctor's appointment which was near this restaurant. The popular spicy salmon sashimi was genuinely spicy and the farmed Atlantic salmon was covered in a spicy Korean style sauce that had a spicy and tangy flavour. The Rainbow Roll had a variety of fish: salmon, tuna, saba (mackerel), and tai (red seabream) with avocado inside. This roll was perfect for those who want to try four different fishes for just one roll. The fish quality was decent, but there was one piece of the roll that had no fish on the top. The Awesome Roll was presented on a black plate. The ingredients consisted of crab meat, cucumber, avocado, mayo, salmon, green onion, masago, bonito and special sauce. Inside the roll, I could not see or taste crab meat, but there was a lot of white rice with a tiny amount of avocado and mayo. If they're going to put so much rice inside the rolls, then they seriously need to put rice in the description. When we finished our meal, we ordered some extras for takeout. The size of the rolls that were ordered for takeout was smaller than the ones that I ate inside the restaurant. The takeout rolls were tiny! All of the rolls that we ordered for takeout were in the category of "Special Rolls". While the Salmon Blossom and Red Rolls tasted okay, though there was way too much deep-fried potatoes and barely any tobiko on the Salmon Blossom roll. The Mangodise Roll would better if they used real pieces of mango and pineapples instead an overly sweet smoothie like blend of mango and pineapples. In addition, the mango and pineapple sauce weren't evenly distributed on the rolls.

Steep as it is, I decided I wanted a "quick little sushi lunch with a view", and a quick little sushi lunch with a few is exactly what I received. Although I don't recommend it, I walked right in from the street, no reservation, and was seated at the bar (in pretty casual street clothes I may add). I enjoyed a premium sake flight (which was fine...just fine), an old fashioned served with the perfect accompanying dark chocolate, and a good amount of sushi including their signature aburi style sushi in flight form and nigiri tuna flight (bluefin, chutoro, otoro). After visiting Japan last December, I'm a bit of an otoro snob but I have to hand it to them, all three of these cuts were perfect. The accompanying rice, perfection. The quality of the fish, divine. The view was the cherry on top of this experience. This will certainly be a spot I revisit next time I'm in Vancouver.

Michelin starred quality in their service by how they explained the menu, brought out the food, came back around to refill waters. Just top notch service and elegantly so. The food was good but not of value. Their lunch set was a good introductory to what they offer. I enjoyed the food for its flavours and presentation but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.

I completely understand that the space inside is limited, and waiting can be unavoidable. What made the experience less comfortable was not the wait itself, but the way it was communicated. Being asked to wait outside felt a bit cold and impersonal. In situations like this, a more friendly explanation, a small sign at the door, or even a simple system that lets customers know when to come back could make the wait feel much more considerate and human. Running a small restaurant is not easy, especially in today's economic climate. I truly believe that with a warmer, more customer-oriented approach, this place could do very well. My hubs and I vacationed in Vancouver a few weeks ago in late April. We had seen the long lines for dinner at Saku when we were here more than a year ago. Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close.
