Tried their AYCE dinner sushi after seeing their banner in front over the last few months. I do remember trying their AYCE way back once (over 10 years ago, see previous review). Time for an update. The place looks pretty much unchanged from the last time I was here. As of the time of writing, dinner is now $33 for adults. The selection is half decent overall, but nothing really stuck out. Sashimi is extra. Quality was decent. Nothing tasted funny, which is the important part. Value-wise it's not bad, but personally I would pay a few bucks more to go somewhere with better selection.

Overall, we had a great AYCE experience and it said I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. Pros: -friendly staff -fast service -clean -tons of options on the menu compared to most AYCE sushi place -bus stop and street parking right outside Cons: -not sushi rice and a tad too much vinegar (not over powering but could still use a bit less) -way too much rice for the nigiri (I know the tactic to get you full but I rather has very small nigiri including less fish then a ton of rice) -not a lot of seatings We were lucky to get a seat but the next couple that walked in didn't make it as it was full. 2 booths, 3-4 tables and a bar area for 2. Not super small but if you come as busy hours or with a big group, might want to consider calling ahead of time. I've had better AYCE sushi in other countries but so far it's a decent place in Canada. Not my go-to but definitely wouldn't mind going again. My fiancé loved it though!

One star. After running at Rogers Santa Claus parade, my coworker and me decided to eat something big. First of all, I was so overwhelmed with nonsense, off season, old fashion interiors. It was fun but ummm too much. And the whole restaurant was tilted. Dining table, floor and even toilet. Very strange feeling while I was eating. Sushi: too much pressed rice. Hard texture. As I didn't expect good quality from raw fish here, I ordered sushi with cooked fish/prawn. They were okay. Side dishes: if you ordered some deep fried side dishes, they would serve all in a big plate. How they look has no sense here. They forgot spinach gomaae to serve. Mmm I could tell they just poured sesame seasoning sauce over it. No cooking skill required. Then why one star? Price + vulume + nice server guy. I don't want to give negative star but I won't come back again.

Returned for the AYCE menu and although their focus is cooked foods, its not horrible for the price. At around 16$, we got lots of agadashi tofu, chicken kaarage, chicken teriyaki, deep fried milk (table favourite) and takoyaki straight out of the fryer! Their rolls come a little bit later and are often forgotten (maybe in an attempt to fill you with other food first) but aren't bad either! I like their alaska roll a lot and theres a decent amount of filling in the rolls although the nigiri are RICE PACKED. Finally, the do not orders include the fish sticks...i meant that should be an no brainer, salmon tempura, calamari (way too much batter), gyoza and the ebi sunomono is very sour. Overall, not horrible but not my first choice for AYCE either. Close by and small.

I support the local businesses and they make excellent to-go sushi. I have no complains. The salmon tataki is great as expected. Unfortunately take out only. They usually have an AYCE menu and I would be first to try when they open up just to spend some money.

1,092,624 different permutations of combos you can pick from! Happy sushi has a "Make Your Own Combo" deal where for $9.98, you can choose any three items from a list of 104 different items. Mathematically, that means there are 1,092,624 different combinations you can make. And the list of items is growing, with new items being added. This tiny hole in the wall seems family run. One sushi chef, one waitress and probably another person in the back, although that has yet to be confirmed. Service is friendly, and sushi was made quickly. Quality was good, but unexceptional. This place could and did get crowded when we were there. Pricing is par for the course. This place is not my first choice on Victoria street, but it also wouldn't be my last choice either. Conveniently located across from London Drugs, Bank of Montreal, Starbucks and McDonald's if you need to complete multiple errands at once.

sushi and all rolls are super large pieces, with lots of rice

We waited about 45 minutes, and there's no area to wait except outside or go take a walk since they will text you when your table is ready. I also appreciate seeing where my place in line is through Yelp! First, a shoutout to the wonderful service here. Everywhere I go in Vancouver the service is great, but the server here was so friendly, helpful and efficient. The ambiance is really nice here and I love the place settings! We had a lot, so here is my breakdown: Spicy Agedashi Tofu - lightly fried tofu in a sauce that reminded me of gochuchang sauce. 7/10 Gyoza - crispy fried with a pork/veggie filling. 6/10 Karaage chicken - on the bone, but delicious nonetheless. Served with a mayo sauce. 7/10 Tuna Bomb - 10/10 this came out last because it takes longer to make. This is an absolute must-do. Crispy rice patties with a spicy tuna spread that you just place on the rice. Salmon jalapeno aburi hako - 10/10 I have been excited about this since I heard about it. The seared salmon on top of rice with a shrimp tempura running through the middle. The salmon and sauce on top melt in your mouth. Red Dynamite Roll - 9/10 this was my brother's favorite. I wanted it to be a bit spicier, but that said it's still so amazing. Mango Flower Roll - 9/10 if you like mango then you will love this. This also just melts in your mouth and that mango is just so fresh. California roll - 8/10 as great as a California roll can be! No complaints here! Rainbow Roll - I didn't get to try it, but my niece gave it a 10/10! I will definitely be coming back here again.

I counted maybe 36 seats. The interior is nice but generic enough to be just about any type of restaurant. The menu accessed via QR code. I ended up trying the following: - Assorted Tempura: Good. Light batter, but slightly overbrowned. - Miso Black Cod: Good. More elaborate presentation than most, but very small piece. - Salmon Belly Sashimi: Very good. Fresh and delicious. - Tom Special Roll Tray: Very good. A great way to sample all the different roll, all which are very good. I thought it was reasonably priced and could adequately feed 4 people. Service was very good. There are a LOT of staff, so we were constantly being checked on to make sure we were happy and got anything we needed. Overall a good meal. It doesn't classify as the best sushi in Vancouver, but I can see the quality-value ratio might be the best in the city. All the food was quite good and certainly not overpriced. I imagine the high staff count was due to the overwhelming amount of takeout orders. I would return.

My hubs and I vacationed in Vancouver a few weeks ago in late April. We had seen the long lines for dinner at Saku when we were here more than a year ago. Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. My hubs' curry sauce was served on the side so he could pour out as much or as little as he wanted. All in all, it was a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Saku is top notch for katsu. Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Total 10 guests today. Looks like 4 more guests can be served for the maximum seating. The server came by when the course is served to explain each item. The appetizers have three dishes. The tempura is freshly made and hot. The cooked fish tastes a bit fishy to my likely. The chawanmushi is lukewarm which I wish to be hotter. It then follows by 8 nigiri sushi with brown rice - really like the texture and (small) portion of rice with each nigiri. Fresh ingredients. I asked for low sodium option however the first few nigiri is a bit too salty and I have notified the server so the chef can adjust immediately. I enjoy the Hokkaido uni nigiri the last smoked fish nigiri the most. The fresh crab and salmon roe rice and beef soba noodles at the end have a nice touch of finesse. There are a number of birthday celebrations and they asked for names to acknowledge and celebrate the birthdays. A little musical piano "performance" for the happy birthday song. Matcha green tea is served at the end to wrap up the omakase. Overall an enjoyable experience but not necessarily impressive as a Michelin 1 star restaurant. At this price point it's worth a try however not likely regular visit.
