I'm a huge Hello Kitty fan since 2001 (don't ask my age) so my review might be a bit biased. It's so exciting to walk in and see the little Cafe. Everything is super cute. The employees are welcoming and helpful. There's drinks, donuts, ice cream, cookies, pastries, souvenirs, etc. On this trip, I ordered oreo donuts, brown sugar donuts and a strawberry cold brew. My sister ordered the horchata ice cream. Everything was so nicely put together and tasted great. I just hope they bring back the fruity pebble donuts.
Came here to try their cake. The cake, cookies and macarons are boxed and ready to go as soon as you purchase. The mini donuts are made fresh and took a while. They tasted like churros and were really good. The price of the cake was high. There are some cute photo ops in the store and some other merch to purchase like t-shirts. Will come back to try their tea service.
People who know me know that the key to my heart is Hello Kitty. To say that I'm a huge fan would be an understatement. When I visit the Irvine Spectrum, a visit to the Hello Kitty Cafe is a requirement. During my previous visits, the 10-year anniversary water bottles were always sold out. This time, both the 18-oz and 32-oz were available, so I purchased both. They had a complimentary limited edition Year of the Horse bookmark that was free with purchase, so I got 2 with my 2 purchases. The water bottles and bookmarks will be added to my growing collection. It took a while for my friends to pry me away from Hello Kitty. This is my happy place. Great service and the cafe is beautifully decorated in a pink Hello Kitty theme. Great treats too, but on this particular visit, I came for the water bottles.
Wifeys been wanting to try this place for years, and we finally did get to try it with our LO. Of course the hello kitty theme was a hit with them. The bite sized savory and sweet items were on the 50/50 side. We agreed that the savory items were better than the sweets. Maybe that's just us getting older :) The server was kind and knowledgeable. He checked in on us quite often. We appreciated that. Will comeback, but after some time! Recommend, if you've never been!
I am thinking that when one imagines a Hello Kitty Cafe one cannot help but imagine an environment drenched in pink and cute. That is certainly the image I had about the Hello Kitty Cafe when I went in. It is important to note that I had not performed an internet search on this cafe prior to going so my expectations really were pink and cute in an overarching way. I did not know how the pink and cute were actually going to take form or if they would land as welcomed fairy glamour or garish hot pink spewed from an ogre ill with a pink fever. I am happy to report that the pink at the Hello Kitty cafe ultimately landed as ornate sugar, like the one used to make intricate designs on fancy laced cakes. Now we moved to the specifics of how Sanrio imaginers translated pink and Hello Kitty bows to create a momentary pink fantasy that is immersive and sweet. When my friend Ronnie- my partner in pinky raising- and I entered the cafe one was blasted with Hello Kitty merchandise, imagery and photo opportunities. It was clear from the sweaters on the walls and the dainty bow-forward cakes on displays that we were not in Kansas or Oz, anymore. We were in purr and bow territory and that meant we were pawns that now had to move with pink pace. This pink pace does not belong to the Pink Panther or to Barbie, or to Elle Woods of Legally Blonde stardom. This pink pace is unique to Hello Kitty and its distinguishing factor is that moving at this pace, is simply an act of leisure and rest, it has no purpose other than to exist in a suave, comfortable drowl. All the other pink owning people listed before move at a pink pace that is meant to accomplish something. For instance, Pink Panther desires to solve cases as it moves in pink, while Ms. Woods (comma) Elle has court battles to win in her pink pace. I, for one, welcomed being enveloped in pink slowness. There was a a stand in front of the Bow Room that suggested a host stood there at one time. But since there was no host, I mentioned our arrival to the cashier and they explained that the host of the Bow Room would be informed. A person came out of the Bow room, and told us, we had four more minutes to wait. A break in the pink fantasy but every paradise needs gnats that gnaw. As soon as one enters, the pink atmosphere- described above with maybe painful detail- wallops. In fact, when I entered the sole gender neutral bathroom I found pink hand-wash. Thus the details, like sugar, were granular. The chairs had bows, some other customers had hello kitty prints, others dressed in streets clothes, the sugar cubes were pink and in Hello Kitty form, as well as the cucumber sandwiches, as well as the tier holding case, as well as the central design feature of the room, as well as the napkin holders, as well as the chocolate design of the chocolate mouse and strawberry opener. So if I had not made this clear this room was absolutely, 1000%, Hello Kitty themed but somehow it worked, it never crossed into a tsunami of pink that could drown and wash away. I think because its own its absurdity with confidence, like a model who wears an avant garde creation/monstrosity with humility abandon. All of the pictures will help the reader decide for themselves if this place's pink is right-on or wrong-off. Now unto the food. I first tried the Birthday Tea which was raspberry forward. I am not sure why I did not like it, even with a hello kitty sugar cube. The server was kind enough to swap it for their most popular tea--- their pear tea. This one could be drank without sugar, which was good, I did not want to use too many sugar cubes, like one for every cup. To prevent this, I put a sugar cube in the pot. I know the review is dense but I hope people take note of this fact: Put a cube in the pot, instead on every cup, to ensure one does not over-indulge in sugar. Especially when the tea bites were, in my opinion, overly sweet. More broadly speaking, the tea bites were mostly standard, with some being more, and others being less. For example, the chicken salad croissant was good and had a pinch of maybe celery or another bitter-like vegetable that added crunch and zest but did not fully reach its promise, it went forward but not reach its full bite goal. The apple tart was a mini apple pie that I could leave after one nibble, as apple pies are so well known that I did not want to get to know the familiar again. There was a hummus on a pita with something red on top, this was a solid bite. So basically I am saying that the atmosphere and design- from tea spoon to walls, was the real draw of the place, where the food falls short and eats as a minor let down. At least for me, others might love the food, but now I am over stating as we all know that taste is a relative human experience. I would not go back to this place. I did it, know what it was and that was enough. But I am glad I tried once for now I know what a pretty pink tea party feels like.
Came here to experience the 21+ cocktail service in the Bow Room. It was definitely a great experience to share with a group of friends. Bow Room is adorable with the most adorable drinks that you just would like to order them all. Reservations must be made online for any Bow Room gathering. I received great customer service from checking in with hostess to our assign waiter for night. Some cocktail drinks are seasonal so it's always good to visit throughout the seasons.
There was a super long line to get in, but it moved fairly quickly. I did go at night, so the options were more limited but I was still able to get what I wanted. I got the pumpkin spice hot chocolate & the strawberry cake. Both were delicious! (The cake is very sweet fyi) The store is pretty small but it is a cute & fun experience!
Spending the day at the Hello Kitty Café with my dear friend Bart was a dream years in the realization, & it lived up to every sparkling expectation. Everything in sight was a vibrant celebration of all things pink, delicious, & undeniably kawaii! We indulged in a whimsical spread of savory chicken croissants & crisp cucumber sandwiches, followed by buttery scones and the most adorable strawberry treats imaginable. The service was also very attentive and warm. Our host was kind enough to explain what each yummy item was on our hello Kitty tea tree, and there was a nice grandmother with her young granddaughter next to us who took some of our pictures. We also got two glasses of bubbly champagne to celebrate my early birthday! The entire space was a Sanrio lover's paradise, with every tiny detail themed to perfection. I finally got to debut my new Truth or Dare plaid outfit, which felt like the perfect choice for the occasion--I was even lucky enough to receive several compliments on the look! It was truly a wonderful day filled with great food & even better company; I simply adore Sanrio & afternoon tea! Pinkies up~~~
Got to try the hello kitty cafe! Been looking forward to trying since my experience in Vegas! When I went they were celebrating 10 years and lunar new year! I love the magic of this concept. Something about seeing people of all ages rave about hello kitty is very contagious! Honestly made my day with how friendly the staff was even when it got busy and how happy the kids are! My milk tea with pudding was very good! Be sure to mix it or you ll get a glob of brown sugar! My partner got the cold brew and presentation wise reminded us of the infamous drink at Disney Coffee wise is palatable we enjoyed the fact there wasn't much ice so eating the cereal was enjoyable!
Lucky timing today in ordering. I don't know if the hype died down or we had a lucky chance to come in with no lines. My girlfriend and I decided to go with a matcha latte to share with each other because I was still feeing very full from an earlier brunch. We enjoy the strawberry milk here but decided to opt for matcha because we had a long day ahead of us. She ordered it sweetened with vanilla syrup and oat milk. The total with these customizations led the drink to cost over $9, so keep in mind the pricing. I'm super relieved to say that however the drink was VERY delicious and good!!! The ice to drink ratio was perfect and we strolled around for the next 30 mins at Irvine Spectrum centre enjoying the creamy matcha drink. Can't wait to come back and get another drink from here again!!!
Ok. So it's super cute but honestly, the food doesn't look good at all ! The line was long and people couldn't make up their mind on what to order so I ended up not ordering anything. I may try their tea tasting service but it's recommended you RSVP. Cute HK cups and water bottle. Perfect for HK fans.
This is my second time going to the bow row! I love the experience that alyza and Sammy offer. Both are extremely kind and friendly. They offer great customer service and as always, the drinks are delicious. My favorite dessert I tried was the tiramisu dessert. It's not too sweet and you can taste the espresso. Overall, highly recommend coming here!
I really enjoyed my visit to the Hello Kitty Cafe. The food and drinks were great with everything having a hello kitty theme. The whole place has a really cute and fun atmosphere. Especially Stephanie, she was one of the staff members who was soooo helpful. She super friendly , very bubbly and just made my experience much more enjoyable. She made the visit feel really personal and it's clear she takes pride in her work. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

If you haven't seen this adorable little shop at the Spectrum Mall, you have to go!!! The shop is small but so cute!. I've seen on Instagram they have a tea party, it looks like it's hidden behind a door that reads "have a sweet day". The prices were a bit high but who can resist a hello kitty cookie? Not me . Super cute place to go to to bring your kid or bring some happiness to your inner child. I ordered the peppermint, hot chocolate and the cookies and cream mini donuts. They were both delicious. The donuts were made fresh right there. You can watch the window how to make it. There is another section to go in and actually eat and have a sit down but you have to have reservation for that. Is a cute little set up with a backdrop for you to take a photo for the holidays. I love coming here because my child is screaming for happiness every single time I come. I love that they changed their menu seasonally as well. read more
I could not get a reservation here for lunch after several tries so I de used to try my luck at dropping in. Came in at 10am as soon as they open and they were able to squeeze me in at 11 AM at the bar. I had the absolute best time with my son. We both really enjoyed the experience. read more
My daughter was so excited that I finally took her here. We were very disappointed with what we ordered. Everything is super cute. Its all just too sweet for our taste. The sugared donuts had way too much sugar and thats all you got. Mybdaughter friend tossed them. My daughter got the cookies and cream donuts and they were a tad better, but again too sweet. It is a cute little spot and it feels like you just stepped in a magical world. There is only standing room and the menu is very limited. I got the strawberry cloud latte but it didn't really have any taste to it. I gave it two stars just because of how cute it is in the inside. read more

I love Hello Kitty and I wanted to come here for a while. I got small donuts(matcha and strawberry) and these are fresh made. So yum. I got Strawberry cloud matcha drink and Kitty's ribbon powder on the top and it was so yummy as well. read more
The Hello Kitty Cafe is adorbs overload! The inside is so cute I didn't want to leave! The cold brew peppermint mocha was sweet and delicious, and the gingerbread cookie is almost too cute to eat. It smells amazing and I'm honestly scared to ruin it. The fresh hot mini donuts.... made on the spot and impossible to pass up. Warm, fluffy, and so good! I got the maple kind! Girls night out with my cousin and my niece. My thoughtful cousin made reservations for us to come here for the cocktail service experience to celebrate my birthday. We arrived to the Hello Kitty store 15 minute prior to our reservation time and waited by the Bow Room entrance with no greeting or instruction by their staff. The Bow Room staff will come out exactly on reservations times and get you. A sign or pre-direction about that would have been helpful. While we were getting seated we were told it was a 75 minute experience. I wasn't a fan of their service in general. When we asked which drinks were cute, they said all of them are cute. Not helpful at all. And not to mention I don't even agree. The one she ended up recommending to us was just a drink where they take a polaroid picture of you and stick it on the cup. Lame... I had low faith in them so I went with the drinks that are served in the hello kitty cup. At least it won't be ugly. I got the Empress Kitty ($22). Honestly the name would make more sense if they used empress gin for the empress kitty. Drink was average. My cousin got the Watermelon Sugar ($22) that also came in a hello kitty cup but with different accessories. My poor niece got the Tarobly Cute ($18) which was not cute at all, closer to terrible than taroble. It was purple. They had a frame they dusted some stuff on it that was suppose to look like a hello kitty but as my cousin words perfectly it was more like GHETTO KITTY. We also shared the Afternoon Tea Sampler ($18) which came with a strawberry and cocoa parfait, mini tart, and macaron. It was enough to assure us not to come back for their actual afternoon tea experience. Low quality low skill execution. My cousin makes way cuter creation as a home baker. Also we saw the cookies and cakes they sold in front, not impressed. They seem to have limited menus cause they were quick to take our menus after we ordered. It discouraged me from ordering subsequent rounds. So much troubles for a disappointing experience. Poor execution. I tagged along cause my cousin wanted to go but I didn't even expect much of the experience, and still managed to feel disappointed. Sigh. read more
This review is just for the cafe, not the Bow Room. I rated the Bow Room in a separate review as they have their own Yelp page. The cafe itself has plenty of cute desserts to choose from. I wish I would have gotten some mini cakes too. We got a Mixed Berry Pocket Pie $6.50 and a Badtz Maru Blackberry Fizz drink $7.50. The pie was like a hello kitty pop tart but better. The drink was pretty good as well. Not too sweet. I wish they had seating inside (other than the bow room) to be able to enjoy your desserts in a hello kitty setting. I also wish they had an actual store attached to the cafe. So much potential. Maybe in the future if the stores next to them ever close. read more

I really liked: Rainbow Mini Donuts I liked: Tarobly Cute Sanrio Surprise The Hello Kitty Cafe in Irvine is a cute stop for fans of Sanrio or anyone curious about themed cafes. It's fun, pink, and playful, but for me, it felt like a one-time #goodeats experience. Rainbow Mini Donuts were the highlight. Fresh, warm, and not too sweet, with a fruity pebbles flavor that really came through. Tarobly Cute lived up to its name. Creamy, nutty, and well-balanced. Sanrio Surprise was on the super sweet and bubbly side. Definitely a candy-drink kind of vibe. The cafe is cute, and the backroom feels like a Hello Kitty speakeasy with an overload of pink. That said, I actually wish it were a bit more Instagrammable. It has the theme, but it's missing a few over-the-top elements that would take it to the next level. Prices are a bit steep, but that's expected for a themed spot. Service was solid. The staff checked in often and made sure our waters were always full. Overall, it's worth checking out if you're a Sanrio fan or going with someone who's excited for their first time. Personally, I probably wouldn't go again unless I'm bringing someone new. read more

From the moment we walked in, it felt like the staff only gave attention to guests who were dressed in designer clothes or carried luxury bags. We felt rushed and overlooked, which really took away from the fun, whimsical vibe we were hoping for. The tea itself was actually pretty good, but the portion was tiny for the price. I'm a huge HK fan so I was excited to come!We booked two days before and you must show or cancel 24 hours ahead otherwise you will be charged (need to add a credit card to hold reservation). They will text you to confirm the day before. We were immediately greeted and brought back to the bow room. It's a small room, the bar is in the back and the bathroom is in the front. Everything is decorated so cute and in pink. We sat at a booth and ordered our drinks and snack. We ended up ordering two drinks each (8 total),which came out to about $200. Each drink was about $18-23. It's not cheap, but worth it to come at least once. The drinks change each season. Right now it's fall/Halloween themed. I also bought a HK sweater at the cafe in front for $65. The staff was so nice and helpful. read more
So adorable with all the pink and Hello Kitty decor! We made reservations for cocktail hour in the Bow Room and arrived a bit early, but they were able to seat us right away. There is a 75-minute time limit, and each person is required to order at least one drink. Our server was super friendly and helpful. Since was hot, wanted to ensure the kids are hydrated and here we are. No line, what a huge surprise. Small menu, manly cookies and small cakes. Service was friendly and fast. Place was clean. I had the black tea mango with boba. It was perfect for the heat. It was not sweet, in fact it was perfect for me. Also tried the mini donuts, nice a warm. Something about this place just draws me in. It could be the pink aesthetic or the nostalgia of my youth begging my mom to take me to Sanrio at South Coast Plaza. Either way, super cute and super fun little cafe. I don't go often, have probably only been a couple of times. Their mini cinnamon donuts are a MUST !!! I mean these little things are warm, soft and sugary! Amazing !!!!! The strawberry matcha on the other hand .... not my fave. Once you drink the strawberry syrup at the bottom, the match then becomes flavorless. I haven't tried much else there. All of their desserts look amazing so I would go back and try for sure. Get ready to drop a pretty penny, the strawberry matcha is $9! In case you encounter a long line, don't worry, it moves fast. I say try it !! read more
Highly recommended for hello kitty & tea lovers . We made reservations for the hello kitty cafe high tea as soon as we the reservations opened up a few months prior. We absolutely loved our time here. Checking in was easy! The tea service itself is pretty standard. We loved everything! It was so special, cute & very detailed, even the butter had a little hello kitty pressed into it. Anything upfront you can also order to go so you don't have to wait on a long line. read more

My review is geared more towards the bow room experiences, as I have done both afternoon tea and cocktail hour. The cocktails are pricy, but very unique and tasty! Definitely worth the visit. Service is always great, and I love all the Hello Kitty details inside. Afternoon tea is great for a special occasion. I feel like they could do a little better maintaining everything, however. Last afternoon tea we went to, things like the teapot were chipped which really took away from the experience. It does not seem like they have many back-ups, and for how much this place charges, and for how busy they are, I feel like they could put more effort into keeping the location looking like new. The bathroom inside also looked like things were falling apart. Overall a great spot, but just needs a little more love to keep it at 5 stars. read more

Came for the Halloween treats, they all were so adorable looking on the menu I ordered the Kuromi soft serve but he let me know that the machine was down so I got the pumpkin tart instead it was yummy it had a whipped pumpkin filling in a shortbread crust and whipped cream and a hello kitty gingersnap cookie on top. I live that they always have seasonal items to look forward to read more

We took a trip up to Irvine to visit the Spectrum mall and my fiancé made reservations for her and the girls for their afternoon tea. The outside of the store is small where u can order treats and drinks. But through the door is where what I call the "speak easy" area where the afternoon tea is served. According to her, the dining area is not too big and it probably can seat around 20-25 guests. But it's a nice place especially for girls and if you're a Hello Kitty fan. read more

This place is absolutely adorable inside. Definitely a fun place to go with friends. They don't allow kids during certain times. You also have to make a reservation. It's like a speak easy but Hello Kitty. Drinks were good but the desserts were not very tasty. It's more of a vibe and place for cute pictures. read more
Super cute place and worth experiencing once. It honestly is all about the ambiance here and the service was pretty great too. The tea was surprisingly amazing and everything was really cute (even the sugar cubes). I was bummed that the croissant was a salmon croissant that was posted everywhere and instead was a chicken salad croissant and the cucumber sandwich which I'm usually a fan of us was definitely mid. Some of the pastries were hits and some where missed but as I mentioned, it's worth coming here at least once to have a tea party. read more

hello kitty my queen jk this cafe was pretty small but very cute nonetheless! they have a private "bow room" where you can make reservations for parties for children or adults with alcoholic drinks in hello kitty cups but we didn't know that so we ordered of the public cafe menu. i got the matcha with soy milk and it was pretty good the strawberry puree was very sweet and i liked that they didnt fill the cup with a bunch of ice. they had pastries and collectible items like mugs and tumblers read more

After walking past this cute cafe, I finally decided to try it. At first I was confused because I've read they do afternoon tea, but when you walk into the cafe there is very minimal to look at and zero seating. After looking further into this, I think the afternoon tea is in the "Bow room" which that was written on a door inside. I did not have a reservation, so I was just grabbing a cookie to-go. Some of their pasties seemed expensive for what it was, but others were more reasonable. My sugar cookie did taste good and fresh. Unless you have a tea reservation, I'm not sure this would be worth your time visiting. read more

I came here a few years ago with my daughter and it's still the same cute food destination! The vibe is very photo-worthy. Lots of little backdrops and fun set ups to snap pics. The menu is limited and the food comes pre-packed. Drinks are made on the spot. I was feeling very cozy, so I chose the hot cocoa and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. It wasn't too hot, so I could drink it right away. I also chose the mixed berry pastry and it's kind of like an upscale pop-tart?! So cute and sweet. I think I'll try the lemonade next time. I wouldn't go expecting to be blown away by the food or drinks, but if you have kids, love cute instagrammable moments, or need a little Hello Kitty joy in your life, this is your place! There was a sign for a themed tea or cocktail hour for those 21+ but when I scanned the QR code, no future dates were available, so I don't know if they are still doing those. read more

In short: It's a Hello Kitty gimmick--Japanese packaging for American sweets. The store is easy to find, right by Irvine Spectrum Ferris Wheel. Even on a weeknight, customers come every few minutes--all ages, both genders. The hair clip door decor is so cool. And they're mismatched. The Hello Kitty display in the shop looked like it had heterochromia due to the lighting and angle. The packaging was eye-catching, but the strawberry cake was so-so. Hello Kitty Madeleines: proof that branding doesn't equal better taste. They're identical to Costco's. Same supplier, I'd guess. Besides, $11 for 8 Hello Kitty Madeleines? Costco has 28 for $10.49 Peppermint Matcha: Too sweet, mostly coffee flavor, faint mint & matcha. I get that it's more of a gimmick/branding thing than anything else, but I do think the options could be better. Everything here is all sugar, and, again, I get who this is geared towards, but it's a shock. The wait was also kind of long, considering we were there towards closing, so they weren't making any blended drinks and a lot of their other items were sold out. Very friendly service on a busy day! First time here and it was a nice restaurant. Napkin area could have used a little more attention. I ordered their strawberry cake and it was nice for a first time try. I wouldn't be in a hurry to return. There were a few embellishments on the cake that were unnecessary but taste wise the icing was superb. Cake itself was a little dry. For $11 it wasn't a disappointment. read more

They have 3 types of ceramic cups, hello kitty theme. Expensive no special prices (not even with a purchase" also most of their stuff is always sold out you'll only get drinks
Is the Dole Whip still vegan since it's served with vanilla soft serve?
The vanilla flavor is not vegan as it contains dairy but the fruit flavors are vegan as long as they're Dole.
When you go for the afternoon tea service, are food/drinks included in the reservation price or do you pay for that separately?
It's a deposit so you pay $60 per person, minus the deposit as of 11/2025
How much is it for the afternoon bar service?
It's a la cart. You order drinks and desserts off the menu .

Tea time is every day of the week, I believe. If you are looking at their calendar and the days you want are disabled, means that they are all booked for that day. Usually, you need to make reservations two to three months. I hope that was helpful!

Pets are allowed at the Irvine Spectrum, there is not seating inside the cafe, aside from the bow room. Pets are not allowed in the bow room.
I made reservations for tea with my twin daughters who are 9 &have tons of allergies & aversions. I just want to take them for the experience. Will they still charge $60 each for them if they can't eat any of the food? Special needs child?
Yes, it's $60 each. I'm vegetarian, so I couldn't eat several items and it was still $60. This is just my experience, I would call to double check.
Can we get lunch or food at the cafe with out any reservation?
No... you HAVE to make a reservation for the pink room. But you can get like cookies, macaroons, coffee, donuts, and drinks from the cafe. The pink room has more options, but as far as actual food like burgers and stuff that's non existent here.… Read more

I know the donuts are what takes the longest sometimes they shut down the machine. The macaroons I never had them say they are out.

Same price for kids when I went with my 9 year old daughter in Feb of this year. They can order drinks that are not hot tea such as lemonade.
