Hellenic has been our go to North Fork spot for many many years. Fried calamari is absolutely fantastic. Give me a Gyro and lemonade and I'm a happy camper. Gelato bar looks great as well. Friendly staff, always a great stop. read more

Was pretty disappointed with the food here given how good the reviews for this place were. We ordered a bunch of the appetizers and had a tapas-style meal. We got the cheese filo dough pastries-the stuffing was not super flavorful and the filo dough itself was pretty bland which was to be expected. The cauliflower croquettes were tastier but I wished they were crispier. The feta sauce the croquettes came with was really tasty, I asked for a second helping of that and slathered it on everything. The spanakopita was alrite and the grilled pita with squash and zucchini was one of the better dishes as they had a yummy garlic sauce on top of everything. read more

Honestly, I was very disappointed in this place. The restaurant had potential that aged poorly, if at all. The food came out cold, the burger was lackluster in flavor, the fries were soggy, the bun wet, and the entire combo was not worth the $20 price tag it commanded. There was a redeeming quality to the though. The best and most aptly priced item on the menu was the $20 four wine tasting. The poors were substantial and the selection quite delicious. Capitalize on this and skip the food. read more

My wife and I have been dining at The Hellenic for many years. And I have to say the food still continues to impress us each time. And tonight was absolutely no different whatsoever. Valentine's Day 2022 and we took the trek out to our favorite Greek.......well favorite restaurant period!! We decided to mix it up with a few of our favorite staples.......saganaki, avgolemono soup and the infamous Hellenic Greek Salad.......and the Valentine's Day specials. I had the Slow-Smoked Lamb Tenderloin and my wife had the Grilled Vegetable Napolean. And OMG i have never had such an amazing Lamb Dish ever. The taste was phenomenal, the seasoning was spot on and the tenderness was pure perfection. My wife didn't say much during our meal except to rave about how incredible her dinner was. So thanks a lot. We had a great meal but you completely ruined our Valentine's Day dinner. We were too damn busy enjoying the meal and didn't say a single loving thing to each other!! Great! Thanks!! Well, I guess we will just have to end this Valentine's Day evening knowing that we absolutely do LOVE something.......the Hellenic and the incredible dishes that are served each and every time we go there!!! It didn't seem as if you guys were off for the winter season. You picked right up.......to start this 2022 season.....right where you left off in 2021. It was great to see you all again and we look forward to many, many more breakfasts, lunches and dinners to come throughout this year!! Salut to the Hellenic and their amazing staff and Ownership!! read more

I've been here a few times and the food was delicious. I got the leg of lamb and the falafel gyro. I have gotten takeout and the staff were friendly and the order was prepared in a very reasonable amount of time. I also really appreciated the clear descriptions of the ingredients and the staffs' helpfulness in checking for certain allergens with the chef. I was so sad to see that they're closed in the winter. I will be back when the weather is warmer. read more

I am a huge greek food fan and was looking for a good greek restaurant when visiting Long Island. We decided on Hellenic and couldn't have been happier. We enjoyed the calamari and octopus, and I had a gyro. My food was a bit cold but it was noted to get sauce on side (which i did not do) to keep warm. Let alone the atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. Would 100% recommend. read more

Always love the food! My only complaint is that the prices went up SO much. A baby greek salad with gyro meat and side Tzatziki was $25! and they didn't give me any pita. That is a lot of money for the smallest salad on the menu. I know prices all over the North Fork have gone up due to the population and demand, but that was ridiculous. This is a hot spot for take out. Especially for working North Forkers. This price increase is ridiculous for hard working locals. read more

Come at night and sit by a fire! Service was very good here and apparently I'm becoming increasingly picky about service in my old age. Clearly the owners make it a priority to well train the staff and they have plenty of people on deck so each can provide proper service to their tables. We had the option of 5 appetizers for $22- a steal if you ask me! I would recommend the calamari (the skordalia dip was amazing and I've never had it before, despite eating a lot of calamari), the haloumi cheese and the pita with tzatziki. The pita was just right and the haloumi cheese came on top of tomato and pita. read more

Very disappointed, being a Greek I was expecting an authentic Greek experience! We spent $185 on a take out dinner and we end up throwing everything in the garbage. The chicken souvlaki was overcooked and rubbery, the dolmades were out of a can, the salad was soggy, the haloumi was burned I do not recommend this place, Greenport is full of nice restaurants read more

Came here with friends on a summery Saturday afternoon for lunch since it had great reviews and had outdoor seating available. I ordered the Broiled Whole Local Fluke, which was delicious until I found a 6-inch long piece of hair in my fish, which was unpleasant. Service was also mediocre and unpleasant. Upon entering the restaurant, we asked the hostess if we could be seated outside (as we saw at least 3 tables available) and she seemed irked by our request even though it was not busy. Our waitress did not seem familiar with the items on the menu when we inquired about one of the entrees and soups. In addition, when we needed water refills, our waitress did not acknowledge it when stopping by at our table several times until my friend asked for a bottle of water (as we noticed other tables had bottles of water). Service: 2/5 Food: 3/5 As much as my entree was delicious, I was turned off by finding a piece of hair in my fish and the unpleasant service. I will not be coming back here. read more

Four of us enjoyed a delightful meal with good wine/drinks and an assortment of delicious apps & a large Greek salad. Service was fine and we were well-distanced outside. I would be a regular patron if this were in NYC. read more

Nice outdoor seating. The appetizers were amazing! We had the Saganaki, cauliflower croquettes, and tzatziki. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the moussaka and leg of lamb bekri. The moussaka meat lacked the traditional green taste of cinnamon and nutmeg, this coming from a Greek visitor. Also, the lamb of the Berki was not as soft as advertised. I gave the place of 4 stars because of ambiance and nice outdoor area. read more

Got curbside pickup twice and it's so delicious!! We loved everything. The baklava and baklava ice cream is seriously to die for! the fish was fresh. We would certainly come back. read more

DElicious Greek restaurant!! Grilled octopus appetizer to die for. It was tender and seasoned perfectly.. felt like we were eating at a friend's house bc the food was all so authentic! No gimmicky dishes... they stay true to their roots and everything was very good! My husband had a lamb dish that he loved, i had a gyro (well bc when in Rome...), and our son had the purist burger that he said was really good. Great location between greenport and orient has an awesome outdoor area with fire pits & cornhole! We'll definitely be back.. highly recommend! read more

Best Greek food ever. We've been coming here for years and it's always consistently good. My husband loves the gyros and I love the chicken souvlaki . The skordalia is the best I've ever had . Fresh squeezed lemonade perfectly made. They've updated their menu recently which is nice keeping up with new trends but the old reliables are still on the menu as well. read more

It's funny how you can never predict which restaurants are really allergy friendly--and Hellenic is the one of the best I've eaten at. I'm gluten free (in addition to a few other things) and Hellenic is one of the easiest places for me to order. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and they have the BEST gluten free pita bread!! They've never messed up my order and are always very careful to check and confirm what I can eat. My favorites are the Greek salad and the saganaki on gluten free pita. And don't forget to try the lemonade! My family also loves the taramasalata, tzaziki, hummus, chicken skewers, and horiatiki salad. Also easy to eat outdoors and feel safe during COVID. If you're gluten free, you 100% have to try. If you're not, you also have to go ! :) read more

My best friend for the last 30 years is a Greek and his family runs a Greek restaurant. Because of him, I've frequented many establishments that are "Greek" in nature and have been able to gauge the quality & diversity of the food from one place to the next. Some of them do it very well, some of them do it poorly and need help. It is my opinion after visiting the Hellenic, that they are now at the top of my personal Greek restaurant ranking. First off, the location is not much to speak of, located off Rt 25 in the Greenport area (actual location is East Marion). There is no view here, but who cares, if you're here, you're not here for a view, you're hear to experience the culinary delights of Greece!! We arrived with a large group of 10 people, plenty of parking in the lot, and we were seating quickly. Our group also consisted of three 8yr old children and a 10yr old. There is also plenty of seating outside if the weather calls for it, but today, we sat inside. Service was on us quick......our waitress focused on getting the kids taken care of which is always a nice touch. Our drinks were ordered and came quick. We got some appetizers for the table that were delicious. The Pita With Tzatziki is a must. We tried the Skordalia which as also great. The kids wanted the Calamari and it was what you'd expect. No disappointments with the apps. I won't go into what my entire group got, but suffice it to say, it was a variety of items, some classic greek stuff and some regular diner stuff like burger. I opted for the Greek Salad with the Gyro meat. Oh my goodness, that was one delicious salad. I had enough Gyro meat and pita bread to make my own gyro and still be able to share my meal. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the only real upsetting part of this whole thing is that I have to wait another year for us to go on vacation in the North Fork, or make the hour and a half trek out from Smithtown to enjoy this spot. Highly recommended. EFHARISTO!!! read more

Update review: Hello George, we were not with a tour bus, my friend and I came in in a group of 11, and we ordered 10 entrees to share. I assume with a restaurant your size you can definitely handle something that size! Just because I'm Chinese doesn't mean I was part of the tour group that you were talking about. We asked about the food, and they said they will check on it for us. And never returned. We were seated and ordered. Waited more than 45 minutes for our food to come. The table next to us came after us, finished their food and left, we are still just sitting around waiting for our food. read more

Love the gluten free options and beer. A wonderful place. Will return. Nice owners. A fun spot.

How can a Greek place have such a Not delicious Greek salad? Fried halloumi was even sad. Kids portion too small needed to order two. Pretty terrace tho bees in summer. Inside not so nice. Staff is nice. Wouldn't return. read more

A group of us + a small puppy came to Hellenic for lunch since we were around the area. We weren't familiar with the area so we of course, yelped for a place to eat. Hellenic was highly rated and very close to where we were so we decided to come here. Pros: - They have a big parking lot. Having a big parking lot is always a pro because finding parking where I'm from is generally hard. -There is a nice patio where you can enjoy your meal outside. -Servers are friendly, for the most part. - Their appetizers are pretty good. We had the fried calamari and the choice of choosing three sampler sized appetizers. We had the hummus, the spinach pie, and I forget the name but it was cheese with tomato on a pita. The apps were all fairly good. The fried calamari was great and the dip on the side was delicious. Cons: - I'm not Greek, but I've had my fair share of Greek/Mediterranean food. I've had much better Greek food before. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki with Yellow Rice. I usually do order the Chicken Souvlaki at other places since it's my go-to kind of thing. This dish was 80% tomatoes and onions, 20% Chicken. Yes- a total of 7 pieces of Chicken Souvlaki with a ton of tomatoes and onions which cost $17.95. I don't think this was worth the $17.95. The Chicken was dry, the Tzatziki sauce was not as flavorful so I ended up just eating the chicken with tomatoes and onions. The yellow rice was ok. Nothing spectacular, nothing special. -My friends' orders had fries- steak cut fries, sweet potato fries, etc. I tried the steak cut fries which were good, but very salty. The sweet potato fries were so disappointing. It was not "fried" fries, it was I have no idea what it was to be honest. It was not crunchy at ALL, and just tasted soft and soggy. - The entrees here are on the expensive side and I've had better for less. - We brought our puppy with us, and we get it- no dogs allowed on the patio. We were told by the host when we first walked in. We were seated outside and we had our puppy on a lap for 1 minute to have the hostess come and tell us again that the puppy can't be on the patio. We ended up tying the leash on a table which we brought closer to us and somewhere we can find a shade since it was close to 90 degrees today. Overall, I don't think that I would come back. I've had better and more flavorful Greek food at a more reasonable price. read more

I've been going to Hellenic since childhood, which is a few decades, and have always loved their gyros and awesome tzatziki sauce. Recently, a coworker recommended them for Sunday brunch. My fiancé and I went and it was fantastic! We've been back for Sunday brunch many times since. I love George's favorite, which is an omelet with spinach, Swiss and feta, along with other tasty ingredients. The staff is always friendly and we always feel welcome there. Definitely try Hellenic for any meal! Highly recommend! read more

We visited your store yesterday (not a tour bus), 7/2/2017 so you can check your computer systems for that. We did ask a waitress about our food and their response was verbatim "hold on let me check on your order", then continued working on another table. Never did we hear from her again. I wasn't aware that I am only limited to writing on one platform; I'm sure if this was a 5 star review, you wouldn't mind me writing on multiple platforms now would you? Previous Review: Waited over an hour for our food. I understand it takes time to prep the food, but seeing as there were only half the tables filled, you'd think their service would be faster. By the time the food came, we were full from drinking water. The food we've ordered were a bit on the salty side but it wasn't that bad, but definitely not worth the hour wait. read more

I grew up on the North fork of Long Island, and whenever I visit, a meal at Hellenic is a must do event. When I was a kid, I didn't have much reference. Now, every time I try a different Greek restaurant, I compare it to Hellenic. Simply put, Ive never had an even closely comparable meal then what Hellenic has to offer. I think my experience is similar to anyone that once called that area home. read more

I have been eating at the Hellenic for the last 25 years. it was one of the best eating establishments on the North Folk of Long Island, but the last two times the food was awful. The food was stale and tasteless. While the place was beautifully renovated, sadly it seems as the food became less of a priority and making the place look nice became the priority. George, get back in the kitchen! It was the food that drew in the crowds. read more

So happy we stopped here after taking the Ferry from New London. The Gyro sandwiches are huge and delicious, service was friendly and great lemonade too!! Authentic Greek on the North Fork. I gave the Hellenic a five star review for several reasons. First of all the food is always very fresh and delicious. In addition the staff is attentive and friendly. This is my favorite place to go for breakfast because I love their spinach pie omelette! There are also several seating areas both outside and inside and a large screened area. Take out us also great and ready on time. Highly recommend! read more

End to a perfect early fall day on the covered patio! Saganaki with tomato was farm fresh. Mains all very good and well portioned. Never disappoints over 30 years. Killer lemonade. read more

The menu is very appealing with great variety and unique combinations. However, when you actually get the plates, they are completely opposite to the description. The food was cold with no flavor or spices for a Greek Restaurant. This is very disappointing, given other reviews and that other review places rate them high. I will not be coming back read more

I would not recommend Hellenic. We ordered a Greek Salad with Chicken, hold the tomatoes and anchovies. It did not have any cucumbers. It was a salad of just iceberg lettuce and some olives. A Greek salad should be much more substantial. I got a swordfish sandwich with a side of veggies. The swordfish was fine but the veggies were a sad puny portion of mushy excuse for a side I've seen in years. The cost for these 2 were $40. I know where this place is located to expect a surcharge for being out east but you gotta deliver the goods. And these two were bad. read more

Horrible service, the owner was very rude and the food was putrid. Would not recommend coming here again

How should I start... everything about this place is mindblowing. Each course was amazing, and served with care. The spanikopita was flakey and delicious, the teramasalata was divine. The salads were perfectly proportioned, and the Calamari was delicious. The great selection of local wines complimented the food perfectly and the ambiance was on point. Cozy and authentic, will be returning and recommending! PS baklava is a must! read more

Ok food and horrible service. Twice in a row we came here and they messed up the order ( one persons meal on two occasions came out 20-30 minutes after everyone else's) and they did nothing to make up for it. I brought up this most recent time they should comp the meal and the manager gave an excuse that their fryer broke, but then conceded they would comp the meal. Way to make us feel bad about it after an already horrible experience!! Couldn't you have offered our drinks be comped?! The restaurant clearly doesn't understand how to win customers. On top of that service was slow and we had to continuously remind them of things. We will NEVER go back and suggest others don't as well! read more

What a great find on the North Fork. We have been coming out for years and for some reason never ate here until breakfast/brunch yesterday. That was a mistake as this place is awesome. We had such a terrific meal. The food was absolutely great and the service was good too. There were six of us, so we had a chance to sample a number of their breakfast choices. The omelettes were really good, their breakfast hash was excellent, their take on your basic "breakfast sandwich" was nothing close to basic (it was something I will order again and again), but among some really good food the french toast was the "table's choice" and not to be missed. In addition, the service was spot on by a really friendly and welcoming staff. Finally, while not cheap (what is on this area...lol) it was a great value as the portions are huge and as I mentioned the food was really good. After a few mediocre "breakfasts out" in a row, this was a refreshing surprise. We can't wait to come back here and try their dinner menu. Don't miss this restaurant next time you around Greenport. read more

Very rude customer service, looked cute enough to enter but the hostess a small older woman didn't even greet ya when we walked in, she had her back turned to us the entire time and it wasn't until we called out to her and another waiter pointed that there were guests waiting that she then turned around to say we could only sit inside even though there were a ton of empty seats outdoors. Extremely rude especially for patrons visiting from so far. read more

the quality of the food has steadily declined in the past 10 years, to the point where I'm embarrassed (as a Greek) to bring friends there. the food is soggy and salty, and the service sub par.
