This is a an absolutely wonderful spot in Greenport! We had the burger, mussels, tuna nachos and burrata and everything was delicious! We also brought the kiddos and they had chicken fingers with fries and a hot dog (which were also very very good) Service was great and even better that they welcomed our kiddos without hesitation. Was grateful to find this restaurant in sleepy Greenport on New Year's Eve. The menu is a bit of a grab bag, but I tried the mussels, kimchi fried rice, cocktails, and churros for dessert. All were tasty and reasonably priced. The service was also friendly and helpful. My only small quibble is with the layout and decor of the restaurant, which is strange and a little cramped. The couple next to me had two children that kept getting in and out of their seats, probably 25 times, and knocking over my things. Another child behind me was very loud and almost felt like he was shouting in my ear. This didn't lead to a very good atmosphere for a date. read more

My wife and I were visiting Greenport and came across Ellen's on Front while searching for a restaurant to have an early dinner. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, but was pretty busy by the time we left. We ordered a few different dishes from the menu, and enjoyed them all. We started with the Honey Butter Chips. They were warm and tasted delicious with the honey butter sauce drizzled on top. I really couldn't stop eating them. The Crispy Thai Crisp Lettuce Wrap came with two different sauces that were both very good. I highly recommend the Sweet Tea Brined Fried Chicken. It also came with the honey butter sauce, and made the fried chicken delicious! Lastly, I ordered the Cacio E Pepe Pastina. It tasted great, but I think I would have preferred that it was made with Spaghetti instead. What I like about Ellen's is that it doesn't try to be like the other restaurants in Greenport that offer the same usual seafood dishes on their menu. The dishes here have a nice twist on traditional cuisines (such as the Mussels Korma or the Peruvian Chicken Wings) Along with Ellen, her son and daughter also works at the restaurant. We sent it back; came back 10 minutes later (I expected it to be overcooked after that long a wait) and honestly, it was exactly the same as before; it had not been reheated let alone cooked. Came here for a late lunch date and was very excited with the choice we made the second we walked through the front door. We didn't have any wait once we got there and even on a busy day in Greenport we got the spot right next to the front window (a personal favorite location for me). Ambiance was very clean and natural and kept that little small coastal beach town vibe on tap. Staff was very friendly and helpful and didn't leave us wanting for anything while not rushing us either (they do break between lunch and dinner, as a heads up). Parking in Greenport can be nuts, we had to walk a little ways from parking on a side street, but if you're lucky there is closer parking in some of the nearby lots. We started out with a drink for each of us, a local Rosé for her and the cranberry cocktail that's a reference to clueless that I regretfully forget the name of! Both were nice summer choices that were light and refreshing on a hot day. We split the calamari, lightly battered with a great aioli to dip in too. I don't know much about Rhode Island, but apparently they do calamari right! For mains, I went with the crispy chicken thigh sandwich and she went with the steak frites. Fries were so perfectly crispy and just the right amount of salt, haven't had a fry this good in AWHILE. As for the sandwich, juicy and delicious, and I want to know where they get their thighs from, because this baby was THICC! The steak though was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked while being paired alongside a nice garlicky chimichurri sauce that definitely left us grabbing for a piece of gum after, but delicious nonetheless. Had a great dinner at Ellen's! I felt compelled to write this review not only because the experience was wonderful and the food delicious, but also because there needs to be more Yelp photos/reviews! I had such a hard time determining if I wanted to order the lobster roll based on the photos, and the answer for anyone else who is wondering is a resounding YES!! Huge chunks of tender lobster lightly dressed in their homemade aioli. I've had a ton of lobster rolls out here, and this ranks up at the top with my favorites. Even though I was already pretty full from their generous appetizer portions, I ensured I ate every last bite. Speaking of the appetizers, they were all amazing: we got the shishito peppers, honey butter chips, and pork bao buns. We definitely could have just gotten one but couldn't choose. The shishito peppers were perfectly charred with some nice seasoning. My husband wanted the honey butter potato chips and I thought they sounded boring, but they were a hit!! Thick cut chips that were so addictive with that delicious honey butter. And the pork bao buns had a fluffy outside, tender pork inside, and some tangy kimchi and cucumbers to make every bite a perfect blend of flavors and textures. My husband got the lamb flatbread with grilled peaches and burrata for dinner and after the hefty appetizer portions, we were worried it was going to be huge. However, it was the perfect size for a personal entrée (although if you filled up on apps like us, you could definitely split). The delicious crust was fluffy yet with a crispy bottom to hold all of the toppings, which blended so deliciously together: sweet grilled peach with the savory and tender lamb with a creamy and salty burrata. This was my first time here for dinner while visiting in Greenport and found the restaurant very inviting. When you enter there's a lovely bar with a portrait of Ellen above it . Everyone was very polite and friendly.The restaurant is beautifully decorated , clean and neat with fresh flowers and candle's on the tables . We had made reservations and when we arrived we were told our table wasn't ready yet so we waited for about 20 minutes at the bar before being seated and ordered a glass of wine . Once seated we ordered the calamari as our appetizer. There was definitely enough for two to share .It was very tasty and perfectly fried but I was expecting it to be a bit more tender than it was . Needless to say we still enjoyed it . Although there were some very unique dishes to select I decided to go with the Ellen's Burger ,medium rare , with salad instead of the fries . WOW. It was cooked to perfection , very flavorful! The salad was crisp and fresh with a light sweet vinaigrette dressing on it that I thought was so delicious! Dinner here on a Saturday night and I had such a pleasant experience. The restaurant is on the smaller side and feels cozy and warm, decorated beautifully and with a nice bar area. I loved the counter/bar stools by the windows on one side, perfect for people watching. Had a lovely two person table tucked away up against a window, the best seat in the house in my opinion! The service was pleasant and kind, attentive and making sure that things were good and that we were enjoying our food. made a reservation at Ellens on a Friday night and thank goodness we did because it was busy! This spot is located right on front street which is a prime location for anyone walking around in Greenport and is surprisingly big inside as they also have upstairs seating as well as the downstairs and bar area. The menu was really unique and we wanted to try a few different dishes to share so we ended up getting the pea and quinoa salad, mussels, and thai shrimp lettuce cups. out of all of the dishes, I would say the shrimp was my favorite as the muscles seemed a little flavorless, and the salad didn't really do much for me. I would love to come back and try a different items, but as I am eating mainly gluten-free a lot of the delicious plates that other people had seem to be very bread focused but if you're not gluten-free, then those looked absolutely delicious!! read more

We've been coming to Greenport for years, but somehow have missed this place. Using Yelp! to guide us, we decided to give this place a try. Once inside we were greeted by the cheerful hostess. Close to dinner without a reservation they were able to accommodate us. This two-level restaurant is not big so I suggest a reservation. I loved the vibe. It's very welcoming and the positive energy is refreshing. As we dined we were warmly greeted by one of the owners, who shared that his sister is the mastermind chef working behind the scenes. After a lackluster eight holes at beautiful Island's End golf course, our round was cut short by an unexpected thunder storm. My foursome was a bit dispirited but famished. That's when I suggested we try Ellen's on Front Street for dinner. Never having sampled Korean fusion food, the group was skeptical. I convinced them to give it a try and off we went. The ambiance at Ellen's immediately lifted our mood. The decor was suitably bright and inviting with a casual vibe. The wait staff was cheery and welcoming as we were seated immediately as a large mural of Ellen herself scanned the room.. After studying the menu for some time, we decided that ordering several appetizers would give us the best overview of the cuisine. Our friendly waiter, Nate, was helpful in suggesting what and how many dishes to order. Ultimately, we decided upon the duck wings, the Korean fried rice with chicken, the tuna with crispy wantons, the whipped ricotta with toasted bread and, finally, fried artichokes with just the right amount of jalapeños. It's difficult to say which dish we enjoyed the most as we scarfed down everything before us with gusto. My personal favorite had to be the whipped ricotta which I found addictive. I was amazed at the amount of food we consumed. The only thing left to box and take home would have been the salt and pepper shakers. The topper to the evening was when the owner and chef, Jennie, came out to greet us. Jennie is bubbly and friendly and it's easy to see that the restaurant is reflective of her bouyant personality. We were happy to have the chance to tell Jennie what a wonderful dining experience we had. She thanked us for the rave reviews and headed back to the kitchen. We said our goodbyes to Nate and left Ellen's, very happy campers, indeed. If you ever visit the charming town of Greenport on the east end of Long Island and don't stop to eat at Ellen's, you will be passing up a great culinary experience. As a baseline, everything -- the Negroni cocktails, the crispy artichoke hearts ('sharesie'), the Thai shrimp lettuce wraps, tea brined fried chicken -- EVERYTHING, was tinglingly delicious, the work of a genius chef reinventing food in what must be an enchanted kitchen just a few steps away. Choosing from the playfully composed menu was challenging in a good way that ensures I'll be coming back to try everything else. From there the experience just gets better: Decor is stylishly minimal as if a pristine stage for a virtuoso performance. Ellen's Flip Hairdo branding -- a graphic design masterpiece -- modestly graces table coverings and signature glassware. The delightful staff clearly love working at Ellen's; their cheerfulness is infectious, customers catch it immediately and it fills the cozy space. Enthusiastic about everything they do. Vibe . . . ? Today we started with zucchini straws, fried cauliflower, and an Asian inspired patas bravas (potatoes covered in amazing sauce and a fried egg) ... All 10/10 highly recommend. Amazing service and adorable spot in Greenport! Ellen was there helping out with hostess ing and everything was great. My boyfriend and I only got apps but they were delicious. The calamari was not overly breaded and had such an amazing flavor that it didn't need the sauce imo. I had the peach salad which was displayed interestingly. Definitely not like your typical salad it came out on a plate and at first I was not impressed, it looked very small and just had big hunks of cucumber and peaches. Well I was wrong, it was delicious and definitely hit the spot. If you're super hungry see if you can add a protein to it or sample another app instead! Food was excellent - my qualm is with the service. My husband and I booked Ellen's for our 5th Wedding Anniversary, as we were in the area for a long weekend. At the end of our meal, we were approached by Andrew, who identified himself as a partial owner who asked how our meal was, and then proceeded to tell us that we didn't look "cool enough" to be from Brooklyn, we definitely weren't Manhattanites (and why would that be?), but maybe we were from Queens. It was a bizarre, and frankly insulting, interaction. Left a sour taste in our mouths after a nice meal - and not because we're mad this person perceived as "not cool enough" but more that he felt it appropriate to share his inner judgmental monologue with us. Additionally, I tried to call the restaurant from the time they opened for lunch 12pm until they closed again at 3pm, and even left a message, about the possibility of changing our reservation and never heard back. When we arrived 15mins earlier than our reservation, about half the restaurant was empty, so we could have been easily accommodated. One of my favorite places to eat in Greenport!! The chef, Jenny, kills it in the kitchen, not only in the restaurant but on the pickleball court too! Unfortunately, we never got to experience the food at Ellen's. We reserved a table for three people on a Saturday night for 6 PM. When we arrived, there was only one other table , a twosome and they were having their appetizers. After sitting down at our table we waited at least fifteen minutes for anybody to come to us, we then asked a young lady if she would let our waitress know we were ready to order drinks. We were told the waitress was busy. Turns out the waitress was also the person who showed us our table, and was also the person filling to go orders. After twenty minutes of waiting the waitress came up to us and quite coldly asked us for our beverage order. By then, our disappointment in the way the evening was going was not worth the wait. Sitting there without at least anyone coming up to us and taking a beverage order along with the cold, uncaring vibe we got from the hostess, waitress, and take out order filler was enough for us to go to a place that seemed to care about their customers. read more

Really yummy flavors and not overly dressed. the quinoa added a nice crunch to the salad and all the flavors blended well - Lobster roll: pretty affordable compared to other places! Then we waited a very very long time for the rest of the food.
