I stopped here for dinner on a Saturday and was able to be seated right away. We ordered a cesear salad, buffalo wings, clam chowder and the salmon. We weren't a fan of the cesear salad as it was full pieces of lettuce. We enjoyed the rest of the meal. The buffalo wings had a generous amount of sauce and weren't dry at all. Beware that the tables are extremely close together so it can feel like you're eating with strangers. I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a spot to eat in Greenport.

Super cool location! Prices were as expected for the location and time of year actually kind of fair to be honest. Now the food was great. The wings were good and the fries were awesome. Tuna burger was good but that brownie sundae... Unbelievable!! One of the best Sundaes I have had in a long time. I'd come back just for that. Service was good as well. It was very busy inside, but they were on top of it.

We had a great dining experience at First and South. Even without a reservation on a Saturday evening, we were seated right away. Hostess was great and very personable. The space is cozy and comfortable, which made for a really relaxed meal. We started with the wedge salad and the chicken tortilla soup special of the day--both were excellent. For our entrées, we ordered the shrimp pasta and the steak, and everything was delicious. The bartender also made a great espresso martini, which was a nice bonus. Overall, a wonderful visit! We'd definitely come back.

We enjoyed a really nice dinner at First and South this past week! Erin was our server and she really took care of us throughout the meal. The restaurant is charming and we had such a nice, private table in the corner as I requested on RESY. They even had live music playing outside that we heard through the open window next to us. Cool for a Tuesday night. Love that First and South is so farm-to-table. Everything was fresh and locally sourced, especially the North Fork wine! I had the chicken dish which came with some very delicious mushrooms along with croutons that sucked up all the amazing juices and flavors. The chicken could have been a little more moist, but it was very good. My husband enjoyed his miso salmon on a bed of greens ... everything was so good. I wish we had room for dessert as the options looked so good. We will have to save room for next time !

Everything about this place is so amazing. I can't wait to go back. The upscale but still chill atmosphere is notable. The service was good, too. What we got: Burrata with confit tomato's, (nut free) basil pesto with a side of crostini - 10/10. The burrata was creamy and delicious. The pesto was vibrant. The confit was sweet but savory adding a lovely touch. A Really Good Burger - it really was a really good burger. The patty was hearty and cooked to perfections. I added cheese and bacon. The bacon was THICK and delicious, definitely worth the extra money. First Fries - incredible skin on 3 times blanched fries. You're able to add on sauces for dipping which is such a nice touch. We got the garlic aioli which was really acidic forward, truffle aioli which was divine with the right about of truffle, and the scallion remoulade which quickly became my fave dip after dip. Lemonade - it has the perfect balance of sweet but tartness. I could imagine having it on a hot day as a refreshing beverage. Overall, I highly recommend!!

What a wonderful Christmas vibe in Greenport. This place is great all year 'round but it's magical at Christmas time with a great "small town" atmosphere. Off season most of us here live locally but there's no discrimination against the straggling visitors. Food is outstanding with many, rotating, local options. Solid cocktail menu and a nice, simple wine list. The Chowder just may be the best around. The fries definitely are!

Great lunch! Also nice brunch menu. Sat on the porch with our doggo today. Service was friendly, helpful and prompt. I had the saffron mussels and an order of fries with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc; hubby had the ahi tuna burger. The pièce de résistance was the gluten-free brownie sundae - wow, what an amazing and delectable treat! Definitely a relaxing and satiating meal. Highly recommend sitting outdoors. Live music today was an added bonus to enhance the dining experience! We will be back!

We really enjoyed our lunch at First and South! The staff was super friendly and loved that we had our dog. We were able to sit out on the covered patio with him and the waitress was really sweet with him. She kept our drinks filled and was very fast with everything. We got our oysters in no time and our main dishes didn't take too long. I tried the chicken sandwich that came with a Thai sauce. It had an amazing flavor and I would definitely order it again if we came back. We really liked First and South with its screened-in patio and cute inside. It is a really good option for lunch in Greenport especially if you can't have gluten like my family.

My partner and I were visiting Greenport area and stopped by First and South for a quick lunch! It was super busy on a weekend so it took a while for us to get seated, but afterwards food came quick and servers were attentive. Started off with their clam chowder which was well seasoned and tasty! While I liked the salty bacon flavors, I felt like it overpowdered the clams a little, or perhaps the ratio can be adjusted? Enjoyed how creamy the soup was as well as the amount of additional vegetables. For mains, the lobster and shrimp sliders were better than expected. The seafood pieces were fresh and the mayo wasn't too much. The ratio of meat to veggies were good. Fries were pretty standard. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty decent! Liked how they used two thin tender pieces of fried chicken breast instead of one. Only wish they put their wet ingredients on top so the burger could stay more intact. Overall, a decent meal but nothing crazy to write home. Would be interested in seeing what other seasonal items they offer next time!

My wife and I came here for lunch and had an outstanding experience. I ordered the New England clam chowder, and it was easily one of the best I've had--loaded with clams and perfectly balanced without being overly creamy. My wife had the shrimp and lobster sliders, which were fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with her Bloody Mary. But the real standout? The hand-cut fries--crispy, golden, and absolutely delicious! Despite the place being busy, the service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. Highly recommend!

Why have I been walking past Alpina everytime I'm in Greenport?…read more Was it the dark atmosphere? Did I think I was getting just another American-German influenced restaurant with only brats and potato pancakes? Did I expect polka? The experience was actually slow and refined, without the white tablecloths. Alpina has German, Swiss, and slightly Northern Italian influenced cuisine, along with a selection of alcohols I was completely unfamiliar with... which made the experience feel full of new things. The most memorable food was actually one of the simplest. The chef prepared incredibly creamy, caramelized onions with a slight sauerkraut tang that was amazeballs. I told our waiter that I'd write him a love letter over it, and here I am! The pappardelle had shredded duck, cheese, and big, fun, chewy noodles that were satisfying to slurp. It just needed a dash of pepper to elevate it. The meat and cheese board included a few things I'd never tried before, and it was so good I was searching for a meat shop in Manhattan so we could buy them again. Portion sizes aren't huge for the price, but it was worth it to us. Don't be afraid of the dark entrance, the ligonberry on the menu, and ask the bartender about the connection between the giant copper gnome and penguin shaker gone rouge.

We can officially stop searching--Lucharitos Greenport is it. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was fun, relaxed, and welcoming. We started with the Carne Asada Lucha Fries, and honestly, they were worth the trip alone. Crispy fries piled high with perfectly seasoned steak and all the toppings... absolutely incredible. Then came the Mango Margaritas with a little Tajín on the rim. If you haven't tried them that way, do yourself a favor. The sweet mango with the spicy, tangy kick from the Tajín is a game changer. The portions are huge, the prices are more than fair (especially for the amount of food you get), and everything tasted fresh and made with care. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible during this visit because our waitress rarely checked on us, so I wanted to share our experience here. We made a reservation and weren't sure if it specified indoor or outdoor seating, so we called ahead. We were told that getting an upstairs outdoor table would be no problem. However, when we arrived, we were told our reservation was for inside seating only and that the wait for outside would be an additional 1 hour and 45 minutes. We really wanted to sit outside, but rather than make an issue of it, we decided to stay inside. Looking back, we probably should have left. The cocktails were underwhelming, especially considering the price. The highlights of the meal were the duck wings and calamari appetizers, which gave us high hopes for the entrees. Unfortunately, the entrees were a major disappointment. Two people ordered the halibut, and while we understand halibut is a delicate fish that can be difficult to prepare, the dish lacked flavor overall. The foam that came with it tasted horrible--almost soapy--and although the rice and eggplant were good, they weren't flavorful enough to complement the fish. I ordered the tuna burger and specifically requested it cooked medium because I didn't want it to be dry. Unfortunately, it arrived very dry, was falling apart, and lacked flavor. I ended up asking for a side of teriyaki sauce just to make it enjoyable- that didn't help at all and left half the sandwich in my plate. The tuna burger was supposed to come with sweet potato noodles, but they were out-which is not an issue for me, usually. The waitress asked if I'd like a substitute. None of the suggested sides appealed to me, so I asked if I could have the sweet potato purée instead since I saw it for the duck entree. Instead, I was initially served fries. I asked the person who served me, if I can get the puree, the server was confused but eventually understood. When the purée finally arrived, it was unfortunately inedible. The texture and taste reminded me of baby food, and even adding salt and pepper didn't help. I passed it around to the other folks at the table, all saying the same thing. What made the experience even more disappointing was the service. Our waitress never came back to check on our meals, so we never had the opportunity to share our concerns while we were dining. She spent much of the evening chatting with other staff members and seemed distracted with friends and kids running around near the lobster tank. When we finished, another server brought us the check, and no one asked how our meal was or if everything was satisfactory. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially for the amount we spent. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and has a great atmosphere, but unfortunately the food and service did not justify the price. We left wishing we had chosen somewhere else.
