Alright, alright, alright... this spot is a local late night hangout. After most of the restaurants and all of the shops are closed, Whiskey Wind Tavern stays open to feed (until midnight) and provide drink (until 1-1:30am) to the locals. My husband and I spent a couple evenings there with friends. Both on a Friday and Saturday the bar was full of folks of all walks of life. Overall a good spot to grab a drink or get a late night snack (chicken tenders, fries, mozzarella sticks). I stopped in with a friend for a cocktail and to shoot some pool. We were in town in the off season and did some shopping around town before coming here. The bar tender was very pleasant and we had some nice conversation. The place was quiet with just a few other customers at the bar. Nice music was playing. If you're looking for a good old fashion bar, this place is a must! Although the pub menu is small it's perfection! The chicken tenders and fries were so good, we ordered them two nights in row! Caught a glimpse of the smash burger and fried chicken and both looked mouth watering! Seems like a place the locals love and the tourist will be welcomed. The bartenders took great care of us. Called for a take out order and was greeted by Joe. Ordered 4 piece fried chicken, mac and cheese and a corned beef (homeade) reuben with fries. Upon arrival everything was ready as promised. They also renovated the entire inside and it looks great! The food was hot, delicious and plentiful. I would highly recommend it. This establishment is the most horrific, unfriendly and low class place I have ever been to. They do not make you feel welcome. Seemed like tourists or non locals are not welcome. I brought a client there to stop and have a drink and we were not greeted, the bartenders ignored us and we left. A group of us arrived at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and we are all over 21. The bartender asked before one of our friends ordered a drink that the entire group showed our ID's to which we obliged. But then the same friend who wanted to order a drink showed his ID, he is 27 for context, she said the ID looked weird and would not accept it. We came here after a wedding. One of the bartenders was very very rude. She told us to "get the fuck out," meanwhile other people were there, while we were finishing our drinks. The good: this is a total dive bar with reasonable prices. I would consider it a locals hang out. The bartender was generally pretty friendly. The bad: we had a large-ish group but it was a Saturday night so it wasn't unexpected and there was a total of 20 people in the bar. We were just in Greenport on 11/11/23 for a bachelorette weekend. We are a group of mid to late 30's women who were looking to drink, have fun and be in a fun atmosphere. After having an amazing dinner at American Beech, we figured a pub would be fun to just drink and listen to music. I don't know the names of the two young bartenders that were working that evening but when we went to order our first round, the first one we encountered gave us our round of drinks with no problem. Perfect. I don't know what transpired between the first and second round but when we went to order our second round, the other bartender refused to take our order. We stood there in front of her for about 10 minutes and watched her serve everyone around us and literally behind us. I could not for the life of me figure out what we did to her. Could it have possibly been because we were all dressed up in heels and lipstick? I know that's normally not the attire for a pub but that was the only thing i could think of. She literally would not make eye contact with us. I politely asked her if we could get served and she responded with "i'll get to you when i get to you" and then came back and said "go somewhere else". As a fellow bartender in the industry, i was disgusted. After that, the two bartenders decided it was a good time to fill up all the ice bins just so they could make us wait longer. Do yourself a favor, go spend your money at places like American Beech, Brix and Rye, or any other establishment in Greenport. They appreciate your business. Last night was an excellent experience. Bartenders were friendly and accommodating. They poured generous drinks but tonight we feel that the drinks are not worth the expense. Might as well order a soda. The one bartender serving us tonight made a mistake on my drink (her mistake) and had quite an attitude. Why spend money to be disrespected like that. Okay this is a legendary dive bar in Greenport, it's not the kind of place that you START drinking at, it's the last place you stumble into as your final leg of what we call the Bermuda Triangle - meaning we used to start drinking at a place called the Cinnamon Tree now American Beech then wander over to Claudio's till about 1:30 am and then get blown away at the Whiskey WIND....aka "WHISKEY DONG" after 2 a.m. !!!!!!!!! BTW if you've ever wondered where the owners would go on their day off, you don't have to look far because they're on the other side of the bar !!! It's the kind of place that hasn't changed in years, it has a pool table, kickin jukebox - its your classic Gin Mill. NOTE if you're coming from Brooklyn please don't think that you're going to get fine stemware - believe me it's clear Solo cups at this joint. you may even see Jimmy Fallon gettin funky ~ swigging on some Brass Monkey watching the World Series!
